Man Headed to L.A. Gay Pride Event With Guns, Explosives Was Fleeing Child Molestation Arrest

Police say an Indiana man who was arrested on his way to a gay pride parade in Los Angeles on Sunday was fleeing his home state after learning that he was being investigated for child molestation, IndyStar reported. On Wednesday he was officially charged with sexually abusing a preteen girl.

James Howell was stopped by police in West Hollywood on Sunday with what police say was an "arsenal" in his car. He told police he was on his way to the gay pride festival. His arrest came just hours after the terror attack by Omar Mateen on Pulse, a gay bar in Orlando.

Clark County, Indiana, Prosecutor Jeremy Mull told IndyStar, "[Howell] understood that this child molesting investigation was ongoing and he was in imminent danger of being arrested."

The alleged molestation happened just days before Howell was last seen in Indiana.According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case, and interviews conducted by IndyStar with the victim's family, Howell was supposed to take the girl to a family friend's house on May 31.

Before dropping her off, according to court documents, Howell parked the car in Indiana's Clark State Forest and began kissing and undressing the juvenile.

"At the park, they crawled in the back seat (of Howell's car) and did things they should not have been doing," the victim's mother told IndyStar. IndyStar typically does not name people who are or may have been victims of sexual assault.

The girl does not understand why Howell is in trouble, her mother said. Her daughter considered Howell as a boyfriend, and "she doesn’t see herself as being sexually abused."

The daughter told investigators that she "was never forced" to have sex with Howell, court documents said. The two spoke about getting married after the girl grew old enough, the mother said.​

In the days following the incident, Howell started threatening to kill himself and members of the victim's family​, according to court documents and the victim's family. And if police officers attempted to arrest him, he would kill them, too.

Howell sent a message to someone close to the victim, according to documents, saying Howell was a "sociopath with an automatic."
Howell's criminal history contains run-ins with others in which similar threats are made.

On June 7, investigators questioned Howell about the alleged abuse. However, when he asked for an attorney, he was released, IndyStar reported.

Five days later he was arrested in Los Angeles, where he remains on a $2 million bond. Howell is facing 17 years in prison for assaulting the minor in Indiana, and more than nine years in California on felony charges of possession of explosives on a highway, possession of an assault weapon, and possession of high-capacity magazines. He was also charged with a misdemeanor for possession of a firearm in a car.

When Howell was arrested on Sunday police found a cache of weapons, explosives, and other gear in his vehicle. According to court documents Howell was in possession of:

• Twenty-five pounds of Shoc-Shot, an explosive used for blowing up targets. The two components needed to make it explosive had been mixed.
• An Anderson Manufacturing AM-115 .223-caliber rifle. The rifle had a round in its chamber and additional rounds in a 30-round magazine attached to it. Another 30-round magazine was taped to the rifle.
• A .30-06 bolt-action rifle with a round in its chamber.
• A .22-caliber Ruger semi-automatic.
• A black hood
• Taser
• Handcuffs
• Buck knife
• Security badge
• Additional ammo for the rifles
• 5-gallon container of gasoline

According to a report obtained by the Los Angeles Times, a restraining order against Howell in Indiana prohibits him from possessing firearms.

Howell and Four Other Suspects Involved in Planned Sunday Massacres



Sources within the Santa Monica police department claim that James Wesley Howell, an Indiana man who was caught with explosives and weapons on Sunday Morning, told the Santa Monica police that as many as five people were involved in planned attacks on gay communities in both Florida and California.

According to the LA Times, Santa Monica Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks initially said on Twitter that the 20-year-old Indiana man (James Howell) told one of her officers after he was arrested that he wanted “to harm the Gay Pride event.”

However, after the FBI quickly took over the case, a Santa Monica police spokesman Saul Rodriguez indicated that Seabrooks was mistaken and offered that the Santa Monica detectives who were working the case are “not aware of what the suspect’s intentions were at this point.”…

The real truth of the story was released to a former Los Angeles County prosecutor who works for Get Off the BS by two Santa Monica police officers that have been issued gag orders under threat of Federal prosecution for talking further talking about the incident.

According to two department sources, Howell called the Santa Monica police on Sunday morning claiming that he needed protection from the CIA. Howell further elaborated to the dispatcher stating that he “had been set up by the CIA — they are going to kill me.”

According to Howell, he was in LA to meet with another person in a collaborated attack on the gay communities in both Florida and Los Angeles.

Howell additionally stated that, “everything has gone south. Dan was gone when I got here. They killed the leader of the Florida attack this morning. They are going to kill me. I need protection.”

According to sources within the police department’s investigation Howell indicated to officers who first made contact with him that Howell claimed he was one of five people involved in a planned Sunday attack on both the east and west coasts.

Howell stated that he was suppose to “hook up” late Saturday night with his contact in LA who was suppose to have more weapons and chemicals to mix with the Tannerite he was in possession of.

“When I got here, Dan was gone. I went to his apartment and he had cleared out…I tried calling him but he never answered me,” said Howell.

When questioned about the other four people involved in the plot, Howell was only familiar with the first names of three of the alleged suspects, naming his contact in LA — Dan and two of the three contacts in Florida, Omar and Brandy
Speaking of the suspect killed in the Pulse Bar massacre in Florida, Howell stated, “Omar was not suppose to be killed.

They lied to us — Omar and Brandy were suppose to get away.”

When Howell was questioned about how he and his conspirators knew each other, he said that,
“We were all familiar with each other through an online fundamental Islamic knowledge seminary course — we were recruited through the course and trained together at a camp in Virginia — we were taught how to shoot and make bombs — everyone knew their part — something went wrong…”

Before the officers could further question Howell, agents working for the Los Angeles office of the FBI quickly swept in and took over the case. Santa Monica detectives were never allowed to talk with Howell.

In summary, it appears that Howell was on his way to “hook up” with another conspirator (Dan) to set off explosives and shoot people at the gay pride parade in Hollywood California on Sunday.

Finding his contact missing when he got to LA and having heard that Omar Matteen had been killed by a FBI SWAT teem in Orlando, Howell determined he had been double crossed by the CIA and feared for his own life.

Howell was taken in to custody by the FBI before Santa Monica police officers could further question him about the motives behind killing gay people on both coasts of the US on Sunday.

ORLANDO -- A man who says he was Orlando shooter Omar Mateen's gay lover is speaking out following the attack on Pulse nightclub that left 49 people dead, and dozens more injured.
In an interview with Univision anchor Maria Elena Salinas, the man -- who was called "Miguel" to protect his identity -- said he first met Mateen on the gay dating app Grindr.

Univision reported the FBI told the network that investigators have spoken with this man, but a law enforcement official would neither confirm nor deny this to CBS News.
The official told CBS News senior investigative producer Pat Milton that Mateen was a frequent user of online dating sites seeking relationships with both men and women.
Men and women have come forward to the FBI claiming to have had a relationship with Mateen, according to the law enforcement official, and all of those claims are being investigated.

Miguel said in an interview with Univision that Mateen, who was killed by police during the rampage on the Pulse nightclub early on June 12, was gay. He described his relationship with Mateen as "friends with benefits."
He said the sexual relationship lasted about two months, and they met at a hotel in Orlando between 15 and 20 times.
Miguel told Univison that he believes Mateen intentionally targeted Latinos in retribution for feeling rejected by Puerto Ricans.

"I believe this is not terrorism," Miguel said, despite investigators saying Mateen called 911 and posted to Facebook to pledge allegiance to ISIS during the rampage.
Rather, Miguel claimed Mateen was acting on revenge after being with a Puerto Rican man whom he later learned was HIV positive.
"He hate gay Puerto Ricans for all the stuff he did to him," Miguel said. "I believe this crazy horrible thing he did was for revenge."
Miguel said that Mateen's wife knew he was gay, and that his father forced him into an arranged marriage.
Miguel added that he and Mateen also talked about religion.
"He said Muslim religion is beautiful, beautiful religion, where everything is about love," he said. "Everybody is welcome. Gay, trans, bisexual... everybody."
Miguel said that Mateen never appeared to be violent.
"He was looking for love," Miguel said. "He was looking to be embraced."

Investigators have said Mateen "cased" the Pulse nightclub prior to the night of the massacre. There has also been speculation about the gunman's sexuality.
A U.S. official with knowledge of the situation previously told CBS News that club-goers have told investigators that Mateen had been at Pulse numerous times previously. Additionally, other media outlets have heard several stories of Mateen popping up and conversing with men on gay dating apps.
Jim Van Horn, 71, said Mateen was a "regular" at the popular Pulse nightclub.
Van Horn, a retired pharmacist, said he met Mateen once, and the younger man talked about his ex-wife. But Van Horn said his friends soon "told me they didn't want me talking to him, because they thought he was a strange person."
The Orlando Sentinel and other news organizations quoted other regulars from Pulse who said they had seen Mateen there a number of times, and many said he was at best strange, at worst a little scary.
"Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent," said Ty Smith, who remembered seeing Mateen inside at least a dozen times.

Asked about his son's sexual orientation last week,Seddique Mir Mateen said he did not believe his son was gay.
"To me, that is wrong," Mateen's father told CBS News correspondent David Begnaud.
The elder Mateen said he learned of the speculation from news reports, but as far as he was concerned, "I didn't see any of it and I don't believe that was the case."
While it is still possible Mateen was just very closely surveying his chosen target for terror, former senior FBI profiler Mary Ellen O'Toole told CBS News that doesn't seem likely.
"This to me suggests somebody that may have had sexual identity issues and may have actually been struggling with the idea that he himself was gay and that would add a different motive and a different perspective on the case," O'Toole said.

With rumors flying among survivors of Sunday morning’s attack on Orlando’s Pulse night club that jihadist Omar Mateen had not acted alone, police have confirmed that they are investigating whether some of the victims were killed by friendly fire.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina responded to a question on whether the SWAT team the ultimately stopped the massacre may have hit some clubgoers in the darkness and chaos of the incident. “I will say this, that’s all part of the investigation,” Mina said. He noted that among the likeliest scenarios for misfires was when the SWAT team opened a hole on the outside of the building, from which they extracted an estimated dozens of patrons trapped in the bathroom.

“But I will say when our SWAT officers, about eight or nine officers, opened fire, the backdrop was a concrete wall, and they were being fired upon,” he said.

Local NBC affiliate KARE 11 adds that a “law enforcement source close to the investigation who asked not to be named” also told them that it was possible police struck some patrons due to “a crowd of up to 300 people and the complex layout of the dance club.”

At least one witness has told the media that he was shot at by police. Norman Casiano, who survived the attack by hiding in the bathroom and pretending to be dead, told ABC News that he stayed still and silent until he heard a gunfight that appeared to end when Mateen was killed. When he began to walk out of the bathroom, police shot at him. “I started screaming and yelling, ‘I’m a victim. I’m a victim,’” he said, which stopped the attack.

The whole operation to kill Mateen and rescue those inside took an estimated three hours. The Daily Mail notes that the extended time frame in which police operated – which has led many to criticize the operation – is likely in part a result of the situation switching from an active-shooter situation to a hostage situation when Mateen entered the bathrooms, trapping those inside. “In active-shooter situations, police are now trained to respond immediately, even if only one or two officers are available to confront the suspect. In a hostage crisis, law enforcement generally tries to negotiate,” the Mail notes.

Mina confirmed that police were trying to talk to Mateen to reveal if he had any demands. ‘We had a team of crisis negotiators that talked to the suspect, trying to get as much information as possible, what we could do to help resolve the situation… He wasn’t asking a whole lot, and we were doing most of the asking,’ he said, according to the Daily Mail.

The phone conversations and high death toll – Mateen killed 49 people – have led some survivors to believe that he did not act alone. “There’s no way” he acted alone, survivor Leydiana Puyanera told CNN. She noted that she heard Mateen yell “Allahu akbar,” the Muslim slogan widely known as a battle cry among jihadis, and had heard that there were people holding the doors of the club closed. At least one survivor, Luis Burbano, has told media that he held the door closed fearing the gunman would run out to kill those who escaped.

Another survivor, Patience Carter, has also told media that she saw Mateen “communicating with other people who were involved” on his phone, not just police. “I honestly feel like he wasn’t able to pull that off all by himself,” she added.

Mateen had at least one known accessory: his wife, who told authorities that she had driven him to Pulse that night and tried to convince him not to commit the act of terror. She did not alert law enforcement to his plan, and has not been arrested. She is said to be “cooperating” with authorities.

AG Lynch Displays Deceptive Behavior In Response to Questions About Orlando Shooter

When U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch made her appearance this week on Fox News Sunday, she was asked about the government’s decision to put Orlando nightclub killer Omar Mateen on a terrorist watch list in 2013, only to remove him from the list the following year. The deceptive behavior exhibited in her response has led us to conclude that despite her assurances to the contrary, Lynch sees this matter as one that needs to be held as close to the vest as possible.

Host Chris Wallace prefaced his question about the matter by saying, “I know that you are going to Orlando yourself on Tuesday, and that tomorrow the government will release transcripts of all contacts between the FBI and Mateen when he was on the terror watch list.” Then he got to the point, asking, “[Is there] any sense at this point that the government made a mistake when it first put him on, and then took him off, the terror watch list?”

Lynch initially responded by parroting Wallace’s preface, restating his comment that she was going to Orlando on Tuesday, as a likely means of buying time to formulate a response.

“I’ll be meeting with the team on the ground,” she said, “as well as the victims and first responders, and meeting with this brave community, this LGBT community, the Latino community that was targeted in this terrible act of hate and terror.”
This response was striking for its evasiveness—rather than respond to the question, Lynch engaged in persuasion behavior by lauding the bravery of the community, likely as a means of currying favor with the public and staving off criticism.

Lynch continued her evasive strategy by failing to address Wallace’s reference to releasing transcripts of all contact between the FBI and Mateen when he was on the watch list. Rather than respond to that issue, she redirected the focus to transcripts of phone contact between Mateen and law enforcement authorities on the night of the massacre.

“What we are releasing tomorrow are actual transcripts of the phone contact between the killer and the Orlando negotiators the night of the attacks,” she said. “So it will be a partial transcript of those calls.”

Beyond the fact that these transcripts were not the ones that Wallace had referred to, Lynch acknowledged that only a partial transcript would be released. In doing so, she held fast to her evasive strategy by failing to identify what was being omitted.
“We’re trying to get information out,” Lynch continued. “It’s our goal to be as transparent as possible in this investigation.”

The highly-qualified nature of this statement—that they’re trying to get information out and to be as transparent as possible, reveals the unintended message that she either knows or believes there is information that cannot, or will not, be disclosed.
Finally, Lynch addressed the question Wallace actually asked.

“With respect to the prior contact that we had with him, we’re going back and looking at that as well,” she said. “We’re going to go back and look at everything we did in connection with him, and be as transparent as possible about how it evolved, what developed, and what changes we could have made.”

Again, Lynch qualified her response by saying they’re going to be as transparent as possible, suggesting there is information that will not be disclosed. This time, however, there’s an acknowledgement of what is likely to be omitted. The phrase “what changes we could have made” implies the presumption that there are differences between how the matter was handled, and how it should have been handled.

In fairness, it’s clear that in any investigation, there is information that cannot be disclosed while the investigation is ongoing. The fact remains, however, that Lynch’s behavior strongly suggests that she is aware of information that, if released, would reflect negatively on law enforcement authorities.

That said, the real story here has nothing to do with how concerned Lynch might or should be about any mistakes that have been made. The real story is the massive threat that looms larger every day, and the overwhelming challenge that law enforcement authorities confront in forecasting, identifying, and monitoring terrorist activity. It is an unenviable task, requiring a balance between civil rights and national security that invariably leaves people on both sides of the issue fuming with discontent.

While we strongly believe that a behavioral analysis such as the one we’ve presented here is essential in providing a fuller understanding of the commentary of our public officials, we are the first to acknowledge the ease of being a Monday morning quarterback after a Sunday morning talk show. The exponentially more difficult task is the one faced by law enforcement authorities who are charged with spotting the next Mateen before he carries out an equally heinous act. It’s worth remembering that successes in that regard, as seemingly impossible as they may be, have far outweighed any failures.

AG Lynch Says We May Never Know The Orlando Killer's Motive

Attorney General Loretta Lynch held a press briefing on the Orlando attack, where she said that Omar Mateen, the culprit in this likely terrorist attack, and his motive may never been known. Are you kidding me? Better yet, who are you kidding by saying that, Madame Attorney General? The man pledged his allegiance to ISIS during those 911 calls, the transcripts of which you redacted to remove such references. It ended up being a public relations nightmare. After public scrutiny, the FBI re-released a more complete transcript, though it still shows that “Allah” was replaced with the word “God.”


First, if the shooter said “Allah,” which is obvious, then that’s what should be copied—the entire conversation verbatim. Last, the FBI should release the audio recording, but they won’t since its in Arabic and that isn’t going to help President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the Democrats reinstate an assault weapons ban. Still, to say that we may never know the motive seems a bit…odd. He was a radical Islamic extremist, homophobic (homophobia is rampant in extremist circles), possibly a homosexual himself, who claimed he committed this attack so the U.S. would "stop bombing his country" [he's of Afghan descent] and attacking ISIS. That seems like a motive. That seems like an act of terrorism, right? (Via Portland Press Herald):

At the scene of the carnage, workers removed a temporary fence that was erected around the Pulse nightclub. State officials wondered how they would pay for resources drained by the massacre, and investigators kept probing for gunman Omar Mateen’s motives for the rampage, in which 49 people were killed and dozens more were wounded. Mateen died in a gunbattle with police. Lynch said investigators may never pinpoint a single motive and not have not discounted witness reports suggesting Mateen might have been at Pulse before or had gay tendencies.

“We are still looking into that, and we are not ruling anything out,” she said.

In a 911 call from the club, Mateen pledged solidarity with the Islamic State, and Lynch said there’s no doubt he had read and been interested in extremist propaganda on the internet.

“We believe that is certainly one avenue of radicalization, but we want to know if there are others,” she said in the interview.

“This was clearly an act of terror and an act of hate,” she told reporters later.

Lynch added that compassion, unity, and love are the best ways to counter terror. She called it “our most effective response” to such threats. Pardon me, but I don’t any feel safer. As for the transcript of the 911 emergency call, it’s pretty clear the direction is heading concerning motive.

Concerning Mateen's second and current wife, Noor Salman, who drove him to buy ammunition, she may be facing charges from a grand jury stemming from this shooting. She said that she saw Mateen with a bag of guns the night of the attack, but tried to stop him. Regardless, Ms. Lynch has no clue where she is, saying that she knows Noor had planned on doing some traveling, "but I do not know exactly her location now."

He was convinced to do what he did, and go there with help. The "help" shot him in the head making it look like suicide and then killed the witnesses who saw what happened. Then he escaped in his camo pants and black shirt going to a car on the far side of the trees in Sandy Hook.

The last few of these shoots have ALL been Muslims. The fact they are Muslims is being misdirected at guns.

Why? Because you have a set of WILLING PARTIES to the slaughter of innocent Americans who are being used as tools to kill and demonize Americans in two ways... guns and "islamophobia".

DHS designated Orlando Massacre NSSE pre-planned event

Vero Beach FL - (TRUNEWS) For the first time in history, a terrorist attack was declared a National Special Security Event (NSSE) by the Department of Homeland Security, according to a recently obtained police report.
According to a Orange County Sheriff’s Office Incident Report written by Sergeant David Legvold — who served as the Assistant Team Commander for the Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT) on scene at the June 12th Orlando shooting — the attack was declared a National Special Security Event (NSSE) between 05:00 and 09:30 AM and police officers were ordered not to discuss the details.
“I was informed by Lieutenant Mitch Shaban this incident had been declared a National Special Security Event (NSSE) and should not be discussed outside the law enforcement community, ” Sergeant Legvold wrote in the Incident Report on June 12th at 11:32:39 AM, which was also approved by him on June 14th at 11:32:39 AM.

NSSE procedures were established on May 22, 1998 by President Bill Clinton in a portion of the Presidential Decision Directive 62 (PDD-62), titled “Combating Terrorism”. According to information published on the website of the DHS’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the authority for declaring an NSSE originates with the Secretary of the DHS, Jeh Johnson.
According to the DHS, an NSSE can only be declared when an event of national or international significance is deemed to be a potential target for terrorism or other criminal activity.
In a fact sheet published in 2012 from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration (DTFHA), NSSE’s include, but are not limited to, presidential inaugurations, presidential nominating conventions, major sports events, and major international meeting.

The DTFHA fact sheet also detailed that Federal planning for an NSSE may begin two to three years prior of the event, and local planning should begin 12 to 18 months in advance.
This implementation mirrors similar planning protocols involved in a full scale military operation, and would include:

• Establishing subcommittees
• Identifying and acquiring resources
• Constructing an operational security plan
• Establishing protocols
• Conducting training
• Executing the plan
• Completing after-action reviews

The DHS notes that when an NSSE is declared, the U.S. Secret Service is placed in charge of event security, the FBI is placed in charge of intelligence, counter terrorism, hostage rescue, and investigation of incidents of terrorism or other major criminal activities associated with the NSSE, and FEMA in charge of recovery management in the aftermath of terrorist or other major criminal incidents, natural disasters or other catastrophic events.
The DHS specifically notes that the NSSE designation is not a funding mechanism, and that there is no specific federal “pot of money” to be distributed to state and local governments within whose jurisdiction the NSSE takes/took place.
Speaking by phone on July 7th, Sergeant Legvold told TRUNEWS correspondent Edward Szall that he cannot comment on Report 16-53354 or provide information about the NSSE, and referred all questions to Captain Angelo L. Nieves, the Unit Commander for Orange County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer (PIO) Department.
Captain Nieves could not be reached for comment, but Jane Watrel, a former NBC reporter who currently serves as a Public Information Officer and the Social Media Specialist for Orange Country Sheriff’s Office, agreed to process a public records request for TRUNEWS on this matter and other inconsistencies involved in our ongoing investigation.

Pulse Nightclub Shooter Intended To Attack Disney World, Prosecutors Say

Prosecutors revealed on Wednesday that Omar Mateen intended to attack Disney World but decided against it after being spooked by nearby police officers.

The Orlando nightclub shooter intended to attack Disney World's shopping and entertainment complex by hiding a gun in a stroller but became spooked by police and instead chose the gay club as his target, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Prosecutors revealed the details during their closing arguments in the trial of Noor Salman, the widow of Pulse nightclub shooter Omar Mateen.

Salman, 31, is accused of aiding her husband in the attack that killed 49 people in 2016. She is charged with obstruction and providi"The defendant's steps don't have to equal to her husband," Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara Sweeney told jurors.

Defense attorneys have described Salman as a simple woman with a low IQ who was abused by her husband, and who didn't know of his plans because he concealed much of his life from her. They will present their closing arguments later Wednesday.

Sweeney said Salman didn't know that Mateen was going to the Pulse nightclub on the night of the attack — she thought he was at Disney World. They two had visited Disney in the days before the attack, according to one of her statements to federal authorities.ng material support to a terrorist organization.

"The target of that terrorist attack was not the Pulse nightclub," Sweeney said. "The target of the attack was Disney."

Sweeney showed a video of the Disney Springs complex that captured Mateen walking near the House of Blues club in the hours before the Pulse attack. In it, he looks behind him at police officers standing nearby.

"He had to choose a new target," she said.

Sweeney said Salman "knowingly engaged in misleading conduct" when she spoke to the FBI in the hours after the attack.

Prosecutors said she claimed her husband didn't use the internet in their home, but he did. She also told investigators that Mateen had deactivated his Facebook account in 2013, but investigators found that he had an account up until the month of the shooting and was friends with his wife. She said her husband only had one gun when he had three, and that he wasn't radicalized even though prosecutors said he spent time watching beheading videos and looking at ISIS sites.

Sweeney also said that Mateen had bought a baby stroller and doll at Walmart on June 11 — the day before the attack — and had a plan to hide a gun in the stroller while going to Disney.

The case went to jury deliberation shortly before 1:45 p.m.
