None of this ever happened in the 1940’s. None of this happened in the 1950’s. Only once did a mass shooting happen in the 1960’s and only a couple in the 1970’s. This was very rare in the 1980’s as well. This is true even though we effectively had the same exact type of weapons back then as we do today. According to a database compiled by Mother Jones, over 90% of the mass shootings that happen in this country are committed with handguns, much like what the shooters used in the Colorado STEM school shooting. Those same 10 round semi-automatic handguns that are used in most mass shootings, and also most shootings in general for that matter, were also very prevalent in ownership back in 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
So why is it that these shootings became more of a frequent occurrence in the 90’s and even more so today?
It is because society is in fact breaking down. Ironically enough, one of the shooters wrote “f*ck society” on their car prior to the shooting.
Car towed from #stemshooting suspect’s home apparently has “F*** SOCIETY” spray painted on the side. Also “666” and a what looks like a pentagram sprayed on the hood. pic.twitter.com/e6QX3lq4v3

America is becoming increasingly diverse, there is no longer cohesion and homogeneity in America as there once was before. America went from a 90% white Christian country in the 1950’s to whites and Christians becoming the absolute minority in about 20 years from today.
