    Default 2014 Election

Just realized we didn't have a thread for the big election season coming up in 2014.

Tea Party Favorite Will Challenge Texas Sen. John Cornyn: ‘It Looks Like Cruz Was Right and Cornyn Was Wrong’

    December 9, 2013

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) will reportedly launch a primary challenge against Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), who is seeking reelection in 2014. Cornyn is the U.S. Senate’s second-ranking Republican.

Stockman, who is favored by the tea party, told WND that part of the reason he is running against Cornyn is because of his handling of Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) fight to defund Obamacare earlier this year.

“And now, it looks like Cruz was right and Cornyn was wrong,” Stockman said. “He sided with the President, essentially, in making sure Obamacare became law while Cruz did everything possible to stop it.”

He accused Cornyn of making a ” big show of removing his name from a letter supporting Cruz,” adding that he should have voiced his disagreement with Cruz more privately.

“Texas Republican Party spokesman Spencer Yeldell confirmed reports that Stockman withdrew his application for his congressional seat and filed papers to run in the Senate race,” CNN reports. “Monday was the filing deadline to enter the race. The primary is March 4.”

Defeating Cornyn will be no easy task for Stockman and will require a lot of grassroots support. The veteran lawmaker reportedly has a accumulated a massive war chest of roughly $7 million, Federal Election Commission records indicate. He also has the support of Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Running for his second term in 2008, Cornyn reportedly received 55 percent of the vote against his Democratic opponent. Texas voters sent Stockman to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012. He served one term as a congressman from 1995 to 1997.

Cornyn recently spoke with Glenn Beck on his radio show to discuss some of the concerns some conservatives have expressed regarding his strategy in Washington, D.C. Watch the interview below:

Liz Cheney quitting bid to unseat Wyoming's Enzi
    ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Share0 Tweet0 0 Reddit0 Email0

WASHINGTON — Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, on Monday abruptly abandoned her effort to unseat Republican incumbent Sen. Mike Enzi of Wyoming.

Cheney cited “serious health issues” that “have recently arisen in our family” as the reason for her decision.

But her candidacy had raised hackles in the Republican Party and caused a public rift with her sister, Mary, a lesbian, over Liz Cheney’s opposition to gay marriage.

In her withdrawal statement, Cheney did not mention those controversies.

“Serious health issues have recently arisen in our family, and under the circumstances, I have decided to discontinue my campaign. My children and their futures were the motivation for our campaign and they will always be my overriding priority,” Cheney said. She did not specify those health issues.

She added: “As a mother and a patriot, I know that the work of defending freedom and protecting liberty must continue for each generation. Though this campaign stops today, my commitment to keep fighting with you and your families for the fundamental values that have made this nation and Wyoming great will never stop.”

Cheney moved her family from Virginia to Wyoming to run for the seat. Her effort to replace Enzi angered and upset many Republicans and drew virtually no support from Senate Republicans, who rushed to back the Senate veteran and three-term conservative. Enzi’s supporters called Cheney a carpetbagger and opportunist.

Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, swiftly expressed support for Enzi moments after Cheney announced last year.

In a statement, Enzi said he and his wife, Diana, “have always believed in putting family first. We have tremendous respect for Liz’s decision. She and her entire family are in our thoughts and prayers.”

The announcement came as campaigns prepared to release their latest fundraising totals for the last quarter of 2013. In the most recent reports for the period ending Sept. 30, Cheney had more than $795,000 cash on hand while Enzi had more than $1.2 million, according to the Federal Election Commission.

When she announced her campaign, Cheney said it was time for Republicans in Congress to stop “cutting deals” with Democrats and said it was time “for a new generation of leaders.”

“We’ve got to stand and fight, and we have to defend what we believe in. We have to not be afraid of being called obstructionists,” Cheney said.

“In my view, obstructing President Obama’s policies and his agenda isn’t actually obstruction; it’s patriotism,” Cheney said. “I think we have to stop what he’s doing, and then as conservatives, we’ve got to say, ‘Here’s what we believe,’ and, ‘Here’s the path forward,’ and that’s what I intend to lay out in this campaign.”

In one television ad, her three daughters — Kate, Elizabeth and Grace — delivered a testimonial in support of their mother’s candidacy. She also has two boys, Philip and Richard.

In November, Cheney said she opposed gay marriage, sparking a public feud with her sister, Mary, who is a lesbian and married.

In one of the more public political spats last year, former Wyoming Sen. Alan Simpson said Lynne Cheney, wife of the former vice president and Liz’s mother, told him to “shut up” during a reception.

Both Simpson and Lynne Cheney said the dispute centered on Simpson’s earlier refusal to sign a football for Cheney’s 15-year-old granddaughter at a recent Wyoming fundraiser. Simpson was supporting Enzi.

The dispute with Simpson underscored Cheney’s struggle to win over establishment Republicans in Wyoming, where she secured some support from tea party activists but came up short with the state’s prominent Republicans.

Most of her major in-state supporters were family friends and past supporters of Dick Cheney.

On Monday, Simpson made clear that the spat was last year’s news.

“This morning, Ann and I called Liz. We had the most pleasing conversation for 15 minutes or so. We just said, ‘I’m sure it was a tough one. We just know we care about you. We’ve cared about you since you were a little gal, and we’re not going to let this destroy any friendship.’” Simpson said in an interview.

Simpson spoke of his 45 years working with Dick Cheney and said “your whole family’s in our DNA,”

The former senator said Liz told him that when she gathered with her family at Christmas, she “decided at that point it was about family and friends and it was a mom thing. She said ‘this is a mom thing, and it’s about, you know a wonderful family. And I need to be more with them and they will me and (husband) Phil.’”

Wyoming Republican Party Chairwoman Tammy Hooper said she talked to Cheney officials Sunday about the campaign being called off. Hooper said she didn’t hear any more specifics about the health issue.

“There were some health issues that came up, serious ones,” Hooper said Monday. “And they had many phone calls to make, certainly. They said they would be back in touch.”

Cheney’s decision was first reported by CNN, The New York Times and Politico.

Behind closed doors, Democrats already conceding midterm defeat in the House of Representatives

If The Politico is correct, desperation is setting in among the Democrats’ behind-the-scenes players. According to a new report, Democrat strategists and donors are quietly conceding defeat and admitting that Republicans will maintain or expand control in the House of Representatives. What’s more, they’re terrified that they’ve lost their hold on the Senate, so they’re shifting money and resources away from House races in an effort to stave off a 2014 ballot box apocalypse.

With Democrats’ grasp on the Senate increasingly tenuous — and the House all but beyond reach — some top party donors and strategists are moving to do something in the midterm election as painful as it is coldblooded: Admit the House can’t be won and go all in to save the Senate.

Their calculation is uncomplicated. With only so much money to go around in an election year that is tilting the GOP’s way, Democrats need to concentrate resources on preserving the chamber they have now. Losing the Senate, they know, could doom whatever hopes Barack Obama has of salvaging the final years of his presidency. http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/60830

GOP CRAFTS PLAN TO WRECK THE COUNTRY, LOSE VOTERS

    January 29, 2014

As House Republicans prepare to sell out the country on immigration this week, Phyllis Schlafly has produced a stunning report on how immigration is changing the country. The report is still embargoed, but someone slipped me a copy, and it's too important to wait.

Leave aside the harm cheap labor being dumped on the country does to the millions of unemployed Americans. What does it mean for the Republican Party?

Citing surveys from the Pew Research Center, the Pew Hispanic Center, Gallup, NBC News, Harris polling, the Annenberg Policy Center, Latino Decisions, the Center for Immigration Studies and the Hudson Institute, Schlafly's report overwhelmingly demonstrates that merely continuing our current immigration policies spells doom for the Republican Party.

Immigrants -- all immigrants -- have always been the bulwark of the Democratic Party. For one thing, recent arrivals tend to be poor and in need of government assistance. Also, they're coming from societies that are far more left-wing than our own. History shows that, rather than fleeing those policies, they bring their cultures with them. (Look at what New Yorkers did to Vermont.)

This is not a secret. For at least a century, there's never been a period when a majority of immigrants weren't Democrats.

At the current accelerated rate of immigration -- 1.1 million new immigrants every year -- Republicans will be a fringe party in about a decade.

Thanks to endless polling, we have a pretty good idea of what most immigrants believe.

According to a Harris poll, 81 percent of native-born citizens think the schools should teach students to be proud of being American. Only 50 percent of naturalized U.S. citizens do.

While 67 percent of native-born Americans believe our Constitution is a higher legal authority than international law, only 37 percent of naturalized citizens agree.

No wonder they vote 2-1 for the Democrats.

The two largest immigrant groups, Hispanics and Asians, have little in common economically, culturally or historically. But they both overwhelmingly support big government, Obamacare, affirmative action and gun control.

According the 2012 National Asian American Survey, as well as a Kaiser Foundation poll, only 40 percent of the general public holds a favorable opinion of Obamacare, 42 percent unfavorable. Meanwhile, 51 percent of Asians have a favorable opinion of Obamacare, 18 percent an unfavorable one. Even Koreans support Obamacare by 57 percent to 17 percent.

Overall, 69 percent of immigrants like Obamacare, according to a 2010 Cooperative Congressional Election Study.

That same survey showed that only 35 percent of native-born Americans support affirmative action, compared to 58 percent of immigrants, including -- amazingly -- 64 percent of Asians (suggesting they may not be as smart as everyone thinks).

Also surprising, a Pew Research Center poll of all Hispanics, immigrant and citizen alike, found that Hispanics take a dimmer view of capitalism than even people who describe themselves as "liberal Democrats." While 47 percent of self-described "liberal Democrats" hold a negative view of capitalism, 55 percent of Hispanics do.

Pew also found that only 27 percent of Hispanics support gun rights, compared to 57 percent of non-Hispanic whites. According to Latino Decisions, large majorities of Hispanics favor a national database of gun owners, limiting the capacity of magazines and a ban on semiautomatic weapons.

Seventy-five percent of Hispanic immigrants and 55 percent of Asian immigrants support bigger government -- also according to Pew. Even after three generations in America, Hispanics still support bigger government 55 percent to 36 percent, compared to the general public, which opposes bigger government 48 percent to 41 percent.

How are Republicans going to square that circle? It's not their position on amnesty that immigrants don't like; it's Republicans' support for small government, gun rights, patriotism, the Constitution and capitalism.

Reading these statistics, does anyone wonder why Democrats think vastly increasing immigration should be the nation's No. 1 priority?

It would be one thing if the people with these views already lived here. Republicans would have no right to say, "You can't vote." But why on Earth are they bringing in people sworn to their political destruction?

Republicans have no obligation to assist the Democrats as they change the country in a way that favors them electorally, particularly when it does great harm to the people already here.

Yes, it's great for the most powerful Americans to have lots of cheap, unskilled labor. Immigration definitely solves the rich's "servant problem."

(Approximately 5 million times a day, MSNBC expresses bewilderment that any Republicans oppose amnesty when it's supported by the Chamber of Commerce. Wow! So even people who profit by flooding the country with cheap labor are in favor of flooding the country with cheap labor!)

It's terrific for ethnic lobbyists whose political clout will skyrocket the more foreign-born Americans we have.

And it's fantastic for the Democrats, who are well on their way to a permanent majority, so they can completely destroy the last remnants of what was once known as "the land of the free."

The only ones opposed to our current immigration policies are the people.

But are they going to give John Boehner a job when he's no longer House speaker, as some big business lobbyist will?

Will they help Marco Rubio run for president on the claim that, as a Cuban, he can appeal to Hispanics? (Fat chance.)

Will they bundle contributions for Eric Cantor's re-election, as well-heeled donors will?

Will they be enough to re-elect Kevin McCarthy to Congress so he can keep his gold-plated government health insurance?

Will they be the ones writing Darrell Issa's flattering New York Times obituary?

    Sorry, Americans. You lose.

Listened to an interesting show about the article from Ann Coulter above.

It was on the Ben Ferguson show yesterday starting here at 9:00AM and here at 10AM.

He read off some very interesting statistics about who is migrating to this nation and how it is changing the demographics in America what the Republicans options are on Immigration reform.

BIO: Ben Ferguson was also a featured speaker at the 2004 Republican National Convention. During the Bush administration, Ferguson was asked by the White House to work with President Bush on social security reform by making town hall appearances with the President to discuss ways the system needed to be change.

MUST LISTEN: Mark Levin on how to destroy America

Mark Levin reads a speech from a former liberal governor, Dick Lamb, who laid out the case for how, if he really hated America, he’d destroy it.

    How to Destroy America

    Eight Steps To Destroy America

    1-30-2005

We all know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado. In that context, his thoughts are particularly poignant. Last week there was an immigration-overpopulation conference in Washington, DC, filled to capacity by many of American's finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor named Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, Mexifornia, explaining how immigration - both legal and illegal - was destroying the entire state of California. He said it would march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream. Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America. The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States. He said, "If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that 'An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.'"

"Here is how they do it," Lamm said:

    (First)

"Turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bi-cultural country. History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. "The historical scholar Seymour Lipset put it this way: 'The histories of bilingual and bi-cultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy.' Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans."

    Lamm went on:

    (Second: )

"Invent 'multi-culturalism' and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture. I would make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal. That there are no cultural differences. I would make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds. "We could make the United States an 'Hispanic Quebec' without much effort.

    (Third: )

The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: 'The apparent success of our own multi-ethnic and multi-cultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentrically and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together.'" Lamm said, "I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural sub-groups living in America reinforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities."

"Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school."

"My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of 'Victimology.'I would get all minorities to think their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority population."

"My sixth plan for America's downfall would include dual citizenship and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other - that is, when they are not killing each other." "A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together. Look at the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshipped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic games. A common enemy Persia threatened their liberty. Yet all these bonds were not strong enough to overcome two factors: local patriotism andgeographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. "E. Pluribus Unum" -- From many, one. In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the 'pluribus' instead of the 'unum,' we can balkanize America as surely as Kosovo."

"Next to last, (Seventh: ) I would place all subjects off limits ~ make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate." "Having made America a bilingual/bicultural country, having established multi-culturism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of 'Victimology,'

    (Eighth: )

I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America , it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant sympatric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them." In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound silence followed. Finally he said, "Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis's book Mexifornia. His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America. If you feel America deserves to be destroyed, don't read that book." There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today. Every discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growingas we celebrate 'diversity.' American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations create a Third World in America - take note of California and other states - to date, ten million illegal aliens and growing fast. It is reminiscent of George Orwell's book "1984." In that story, three slogans are engraved in the Ministry of Truth building: "War is peace," "Freedom is slavery," and "Ignorance is strength." Governor Lamm, walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast.

If we don't get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially The American Dream.

Obama Will Take 'Executive Action' to Reduce Prison Population

    January 31, 2014 - 7:40 AM
    By Susan Jones

    (

(CNSNews.com) - Congress can pass legislation giving judges more discretion in the sentencing of prisoners, but President Obama "also has the ability to take executive action" to commute the sentences of "low-level" drug offenders -- and that's just what he plans to do, Deputy Attorney General James Cole told the New York State Bar Association annual meeting on Thursday.

"A little over a month ago, the President commuted the sentences of eight men and women who were sentenced under severe -- and out of date -- mandatory minimum sentencing laws," Cole said.

"But the President’s grant of commutations for these eight individuals is only a first step. There is more to be done, because there are others like the eight who were granted clemency. There are more low-level, non-violent drug offenders who remain in prison, and who would likely have received a substantially lower sentence if convicted of precisely the same offenses today. This is not fair, and it harms our criminal justice system.

"To help correct this, we need to identify these individuals and get well-prepared petitions into the Department of Justice. It is the Department’s goal to find additional candidates, who are similarly situated to the eight granted clemency last year, and recommend them to the President for clemency consideration."

Although commutation of sentence is an "extraordinary remedy that is rarely used," that's about to change.

Cole said the Justice Department wants state bar associations to "assist potential candidates for executive clemency" by "assembling effective and appropriate commutation petitions."

He described qualified clemency candidates as non-violent, low-level drug offenders who were not involved in gang or cartel activity; first-time offenders; and those without an extensive criminal history.

Qualified candidates should have a "clean record in prison," not pose a threat to public safety and face life or "near-life" sentences that are "excessive under current law."

The goal is to give these prisoners "a fresh start," Cole said.

The expanded use of clemency is necessary to alleviate what Cole described as the "crushing" federal prison population," which has increased 800 percent over the past 30 years and currently totals nearly 216,000 inmates, more than half of whom are drug offenders. The federal prison system currently operates at 33 percent over capacity system-wide, Cole said.

"Every dollar we spend at the Department of Justice on prisons -- and last year we spent about $6.5 billion on prisons -- is a dollar we cannot spend supporting our prosecutors and law enforcement agents in their fight against violent crime, drug cartels, public corruption, financial fraud, human trafficking, and child exploitation, just to mention a few. In other words, if we don’t find a solution to the federal prison population problem, public safety is going to suffer."

Cole noted that commutations are not pardons, exonerations, or forgiveness. They reduce the length of the sentence, putting former convicts back into society.

In addition to getting low-level drug offenders out of prison, the Justice Department also is focused on "reentry" programs that prepare inmates for life on the outside.

"We cannot simply release more than half a million people back into society -- some of whom have limited skills and inadequate education -- and expect that, on their own, they will be able to put their lives together, obtain jobs paying a livable wage, obtain housing, and become supportive and productive members of their community," Cole said.

Why do Democrats Support Felon Voting?

Many Democrats (and occassionally a Republican) have tried to change laws to permit felons to participate in American elections. Some states ban felons from voting for life, and some states roll the polling machines straight into the prison on election day.

But why are Democrats the primary supporters of allowing felons to vote? Maybe because more Democrats might win elections if felons were allowed to vote. In fact, this study traces what would have happened through history if felons were allowed to vote. The results should scare any Republican toying with the idea of allowing felons to vote. A summary:

1984 – Kentucky - McConnell would have lost
1992 – Georgia – Coverdell would have lost if probationers and parolees had been able to vote

    • If contemporary disenfranchisement laws had applied in 1960, Nixon would have won
    • Democrats would have controlled the Senate throughout the 1990s
    • Republican electoral majority would have been reversed in the 2000 Presidential election even if only ex-felons had been able to vote
    • Felons and ex-felons make up about 7.5% of the adult population and could be decisive in elections

Of course supporters of felon voting will say that there is no reason why felons shouldn't be allowed to vote - except there is. The disenfranchisement of felons has a long history in Anglo-American law. In fact, the heirs of felons were once dispossessed of entire estates. The reason it affected heirs was because most felonies were punishable by death. That's not to say that is a good policy; but it shows that felons have always been treated by the law as outcasts, individuals not worthy to have any voice about criminal laws. The theory is that if you disregard the law, you have no right to expect to have a voice in creating the law.

Again, here is the study. ...

    Study: Most Convicts Vote Democrat

by William Bigelow 1 Jan 2014 359 post a comment
A scholarly study newly released in The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science has revealed that most convicts in jail register as Democrats.

The study stated, “Democrats would benefit from additional ex-felon participation.” The professors who authored the study came from the University of Pennsylvania and Stanford University.

The study found that felons registered Democratic over Republican by a six-to-one margin in some states, including New York, where 61.5% are Democrats and only 9% GOP. Another fact discovered was that 73% of the felons who would vote would vote Democrat.

Three states where the state government has notified convicts that they can vote are New York, New Mexico, and North Carolina.

In addition to the huge disparity in party affiliation in New York, New Mexico showed 54.6% of convicts as Democrats, with 10.2% Republican, and North Carolina had 54.6% of felons as Democrats with 10.2 GOP.

The study said there are 5.8 million eligible voters in jail, which comprises 2.5% of eligible voters nationwide. It added that most of the eligible voters in the jails are young black males.

The Democrats would be eager to have felons wrote; as The Guardian noted:
In terms of electoral results, President Obama would have added 2.6pt to his 0.9pt Florida margin had felons and ex-felons been allowed to vote. Even if we just count ex-felons, it would have been 2.2pt. Al Gore would have easily won the state given this data. Obama would have tacked on another 1.6pt to his 3.9pt win in the swing state of Virginia if it had the felon voting rules of Maine or Vermont. It would still have been an additional 1.2pt including just ex-felons...

DNC's Donna Brazile: Reform Immigration So Illegals Can Vote

    Print article Send a Tip

by AWR Hawkins 2 Feb 2014 post a comment

During the February 2 airing of This Week With George Stephanopoulos, Democratic National Committee vice chairwoman Donna Brazile stressed that Obama cannot stop short of full citizenship on immigration reform because citizenship will allow current illegals to vote.

As other commentators stressed that support from House Speaker John Boenher (R-OH) and Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI) allows Obama to sit back and watch immigration reform-minus-citizenship pass, Brazile said reform-minus-citizenship is not enough.

Brazile said: "I don't think you can create two classes of citizens in this society, one with legal status and the right to vote, and one without."

For years, talk-show giant Rush Limbaugh has warned that Republicans are signing a political death wish by going along with the Democrats' attempt to legalize illegal immigrants because it is ultimately a push for citizenship intended to grant voting rights to a new Democrat demographic. As recently as January 31 he stressed that current Republican Party support for amnesty is political "suicide."

Bill Kristol echoed Limbaugh's sentiment on This Week, referring to the Senate immigration bill as "crazy politics." He said Republicans will be "in better shape in 2015" without it.

It's all about pandering for democrat votes. They'll sell our country out for re-election. Anyone who supports giving criminal invaders the right to vote is by definition a traitor and deserves the requisite punishments reserved for traitors.

Holder: State Laws That Bar Felons From Voting Are ‘Too Unjust to Tolerate’

    February 12, 2014 - 7:11 AM
    By Susan Jones

Attorney General Eric Holder (AP File Photo)

(CNSNews.com) – Three days after announcing that the U.S. Justice Department will recognize same-sex marriages in all legal matters, even in states that forbid it, Attorney General Eric Holder took a swipe at states that don’t allow felons to vote. “In many states, felony disenfranchisement laws are still on the books. And the current scope of these policies is not only too significant to ignore -- it is also too unjust to tolerate,” Holder told a criminal justice forum at Georgetown University Law Center.

Holder urged lawmakers “to stand together in overturning an unfortunate and outdated status quo.” And he called on the American people “to join us in bringing about the end of misguided policies that unjustly restrict what's been called the ‘most basic right’ of American citizenship.”

“These laws deserve to be not only reconsidered, but repealed,” he said.

Holder said state laws that bar felons from voting are “not only unnecessary and unjust, they are also counterproductive” because they perpetuate the “stigma and isolation imposed on formerly incarcerated individuals,” increasing the likelihood that they will commit future crimes.

Such “outdated” laws have a “disparate impact on minority communities,” he said, suggesting that this is, at heart, a civil rights issue.

Of the 5.8 million Americans who cannot vote because of current or previous felony convictions, 2.2 million are black, Holder noted.

“And although well over a century has passed since post-Reconstruction states used these measures to strip African Americans of their most fundamental rights, the impact of felony disenfranchisement on modern communities of color remains both disproportionate and unacceptable.”

Holder said that since 1997, a total of 23 states have enacted reforms.

“These are positive developments. But many of these changes are incremental in nature. They stop well short of confronting this problem head-on. And although we can be encouraged by the promising indications we've seen, a great deal of work remains to be done. Given what is at stake, the time for incrementalism is clearly over.”

Holder said 11 states continue to restrict voting rights, to varying degrees, even after a person has served his or her prison sentence and is no longer on probation or parole. He singled out Florida and Mississippi and Iowa.

“Whenever we tell citizens who have paid their debts and rejoined their communities that they are not entitled to take part in the democratic process, we fall short of the bedrock promise -- of equal opportunity and equal justice -- that has always served as the foundation of our legal system. So it's time to renew our commitment -- here and now -- to the notion that the free exercise of our fundamental rights should never be subject to politics, or geography, or the lingering effects of flawed and unjust policies.

"After all, at its most basic level, this isn't just about fairness for those who are released from prison. It's about who we are as a nation. It's about confronting -- with clear eyes, and in frank terms -- disparities and divisions that are unworthy of the greatest justice system the world has ever known. It's about ensuring that we hold accountable those who do wrong -- while preserving the values our nation has always held sacred. And it's about protecting the American people and strengthening our communities -- while enabling all of our citizens, no matter who they are or where they're from, to make their voices heard.”

I'd be OK with you don't automatically get your right to vote back, but you can earn it back through community service. Say 1250 hours community service time. (At 5 hours a week that's 5 years.) It would reward only those who prove they've changed their ways and went the extra mile to get that right back. Would weed out slackers and those who say they want their right to vote back but won't actually go do something about it. There might be a short list of select felonies that sorry, you lost the right forever. Just my 2 cents.

Communists to Obama: We've got your back

Party chief says Americans more willing now to accept socialism

    Published: 1 day ago

Jack Minor About | Email | Archive Jack Minor is a journalist and researcher who served in the United States Marine Corps under President Reagan. Also a former pastor, he has written hundreds of articles and been interviewed about his work on many TV and radio outlets.

With Democrats facing a real possibility of losing the Senate this November, the Communist Party USA has announced the cavalry is planning to ride to their rescue by helping unite the left and stave off “right-wing extremism.”

The plans were announced during a web streaming event held by party Chairman Sam Webb Wednesday titled “Taking care of the future: from here to socialism.”

The event was part of the party’s national convention process which will culminate later this year in Chicago, where the party was formed in 1919.

Webb told listeners that there is no direct path to socialism and that to arrive at their destination they would have to pass through different stages. He stated one of those steps was to work with other left-wing groups to press for issues important to the left.

“We can talk about shortening the work week, green jobs, restructuring the economy, we can talk about the de-militarization of the economy and putting those people back to work in jobs that are productive,” Webb said. “The starting point has to be this immediate engagement, but once we do that many things become possible such as more radical demands.”

Webb acknowledged that one of the problems the movement faces is the stigma of the name Communist among some Americans, but he believes under the policies of the Obama administration the country is now more willing to embrace those beliefs.

“The good news is the same hang-ups or stereotypes that people had 30 to 40 years ago are not so evident today,” he said. “Growing numbers of people are ready to have a conversation about socialism. There have been public opinion polls that indicate that substantial numbers have more confidence in socialism than capitalism.”

“We have to let people know what our vision is. The climate in the country is different. We can have a different conversation than we could have 30 to 40 years ago, even 20 years ago. Socialism is no longer a white-hot word, people are willing to talk about it.”

WND reported last month how retired Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely, president of Stand Up America, announced a plan to unite the tea party groups in order to return the country to its constitutional roots.

Webb said Communists are planning a similar effort to unite left-wing groups to protect Democrats and President Obama from the possibility of losing the Senate to tea party candidates.
“Even if it’s only turning back right-wing extremism which plays such a large role in policies today… I don’t see how it’s going to happen without a much stronger left and an important part of that left is a bigger stronger Communist Party. That’s a necessary component.

“There’s a broad left in this country and a good section of it isn’t connected to other organizations. We have to be connected and have a dialogue with this broad left and find common ground where we can join in on joint struggles,” he said.

Webb said it was vital for left-wing individuals to be part of a “bigger and better Communist Party and a bigger and better left in general,” noting that the CPUSA had a major part in helping FDR with his New Deal policies.

“The New Deal came about for a lot of reasons, but I would argue that one of the main reasons was that in that same period we saw the growth of the Communist Party and the left in general,” Webb explained. “The Communist Party and the left in general contributed mightily to the process of first building of a transformative movement and then helping secure these changes, this New Deal.”

He said progressives need to have a bigger left in order to prevent the tea party movement from advancing its agenda.

Setting out the party’s goals, he said the CPUSA could not bring about socialism on its own but needed the help of other left-wing groups it was helping to unify.

“If it just took the left and Communists alone we would have done it long ago. It takes more than that. It takes a bigger Communist Party and left that is deeply embedded in the day to day struggle for people.”

The U.S. military, which has seen generals and other high-level officers relieved of duty at an unprecedented rate during the Obama administration, is in trouble largely because of the radical social experimentation being forced upon it, according to the Center for Military Readiness.

CMR’s president, Elaine Donnelly, said in an interview with WND that under Obama, budgets for the military have been slashed, SEAL Team Six members exposed as the ones who killed Osama bin Laden, open homosexuality introduced and service members pressed into service to hold an umbrella over the president during the rain.

Donnelly says Obama has done “great damage” to the military by taking away resources and imposing “heavy burdens of social experimentation.”

As WND reported, the U.S. military has been gutted with massive budget cuts due to the congressionally mandated sequestration to trim $1 trillion in government spending over 10 years, fully half of which would come from the defense budget.

Webb said despite these cuts the American government is still spending too much on the military and called for further military budget cuts and that the party has no qualms about working with those in other countries to fight against U.S. “imperialism.”

“We spend too much on military weapons and hardware, especially the United States. By building a transformative movement we can begin to change that,” Webb said. “We find many ways to express solidarity with people around the world who are fighting imperialism, either U.S. imperialism or any other imperialism.”

Alright, I'll talk about it; these 'communists' are anything but, they're totalitarian statists who want everybody working in a government factory or plantation. That isn't Communism, that's Slavery, Socialism without Freedom. A half-truth is worse than a full-on lie.

"God's an old hand at miracles, he brings us from nonexistence to life. And surely he will resurrect all human flesh on the last day in the twinkling of an eye. But who can comprehend this? For God is this: he creates the new and renews the old. Glory be to him in all things!" Archpriest Avvakum

I wonder if it will be too late when I am able to leave. Not so much drop my citizenship, but move out of country.

Boehner’s GOP Challenger Charges ‘Electile Dysfunction’ In Video

    April 14, 2014

A new parody video out this week from one of John Boehner’s Republican primary opponents is accusing the House Speaker of “electile dysfunction.”

In a not-so subtle spin of Boehner’s last name, Tea Party candidate J.D. Winteregg recruited a team of actors to stage a Cialis-style commercial that takes jabs at everything from Boehner’s smoking habits to his skin color.

“Sometimes when a politician has been in DC too long, it goes to his head,” the narrator says in the video. “If you have a Boehner lasting longer than 23 years, seek immediate medical attention.”

If the spot from Winteregg, an Ohio high school French teacher who launched a campaign against Boehner last October, seems purposefully suggestive — it is.

A statement from Winteregg’s campaign says the “provocative” new video “comes as Boehner himself is now advertising in the district – a sign that the once comfy Congressman is worried about his re-election. It is the first time Boehner has advertised in four years.”

Winteregg’s campaign didn’t say whether it was spending money to air the ad on television.

While history is certainly stacked against Winteregg – a sitting speaker has never been defeated in a primary election – he received a boost in February after winning the endorsement of the Tea Party Leadership Fund PAC.

Winteregg’s video latches on to some of the criticisms of Boehner expressed by Tea Party critics in recent months. It accuses Boehner of being able to “maintain a spine in the face of liberal opposition” while showing clips of the speaker golfing with President Barack Obama and giving a thumbs up during the president’s State of the Union address in January.

Boehner’s campaign didn’t immediately comment on the ad.
