US Lifts Sanctions On Russian Aircraft Company

The US authorities have lifted sanctions on the Russian aircraft manufacturing company Sukhoi after carrying out appropriate investigations. The company had been accused of violating the American law on nonproliferation with regard to Iran.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told journalists here today that US President George Bush informed President Vladimir Putin of the lifting of the sanctions during their meeting in Hanoi.
"We hope that the sanctions will also be lifted from the [Russian state arms exporter] Rosoboronexport," Lavrov said in reply to a question.
