question for the brain trust
I am working on a story idea, but I am afraid I may be composing other ideas. Here is the basic plot. The story begins with a 15 year old boy at the battle of Sharpsburg. He survives, and goes on to fight inra several other major battles during the civil war. As he continues through life he survives many major tragic events. He survives the sinking of both the Lusitania and the Titanic. Lives through WW1. The problem I have is I think I may be unwittingly rewriting an episode of the Twilight Zone. Does anyone remember a similar episode?
Re: question for the brain trust
Haven't watched much of the Twilight Zone to really say but Wiki does have an episode list with short synopses - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._Zone_episodes
Re: question for the brain trust
Historical fiction is what you're writing...
Re: question for the brain trust
Historical fiction or an Episode of The Highlander.

And another brillant idea goes down in flames. Aaaarrrgghh! Thanks guys.;)
Re: question for the brain trust
I wasn't trying to shoot it down!
Re: question for the brain trust
Well, lets see...if you brought that theme into the future a bit, you could call the guy, lets see here...unharmable? Undamagable? No...hmm...how about Unbreakable? ;)
Re: question for the brain trust
As a note, you can certainly write a new take on this theme. There are few roads that have not been tread repeatedly in fiction.
One that always surprises new writers in Science Fiction as not original goes about like this: A race of beings escapes a calamity on another planet and wanders the galaxy, eventually getting marooned on a new planet. Sadly, during the crash landing only two survived. Lt Corporal Adam Jablonsky and First mate Eve Appleater.
Re: question for the brain trust
that's just not possible Mal. There's no such rank as "Lt. Corporal". lol
Re: question for the brain trust
Not to get nitpicky but in the Galactic Federation of Gronzlekel Every rank can have a prefix of every other rank. For example...A private private or a Major private. See, when Eve first saw Adam, he was a private private. She then went a gnawing on some low hanging fruit in the buff. Not soon after, Eve saw that Adam had was now a Major Private. Well, in the Galactic Federation of Gronzlekel you gain rank by taking rank. Eve, a Lowly Bosun, higgs class, took Adam's Major Private and became his first mate. Adam was again now a lowly private private. Since adam's rank was now quite lacking, one might say flaccid, Eve promoted him to Lieutenant Corporal so he wouldn't feel inadequate. It's a very complicated thing.
