Re: Trayvon Martin Shooting
Actually, ALL the 911 calls were recorded Peterle. There were at least three others that I've heard about. Two neighbors called and someone inside an apartment who heard the shots.
There were, besides Zimmerman and Martin, at least two other witnesses to the attack and there might actually have been a third witness from all the information I've read.
It WILL come out.
Again... if you personally go out and stop all the crime then you are doing something you shouldn't be doing.
If you're out and about reporting the crimes (by calling 911) then you ARE letting the police do their job. Unfortunately, in larger cities the police simply don't have time to respond to every, single call because there are so many people and so few cops.
This is why the citizens ASSIST with programs like "Neighborhood Watch" and most areas of the US have these groups, including my own. I started the "Watch" program in my OWN neighborhood. I had to convince the neighbors to all get involved (or a good portion of them) and to hold regular meetings. I did it for about two years until the folks quit coming to meetings, and some simply moved out of the area.
And during that time we had NO crimes, but the calls to the 911 operators increased drastically when something was going on.

Problem is that it is ILLEGAL in almost every county, state and city in the USA to "fight".
If you throw a punch at someone, you will be arrested for assault.
I know of specific circumstances (from personal experience) where that won't happen... but, they are rare.

Coincidence? Obama camp peddles 2012 'Hoodies'
So when the Obama camp announced via Twitter yesterday that it was putting its 2012 hoodies on sale, it got some thinking: Is the President trying to capitalize off the death of Martin?
Re: Trayvon Martin Shooting
You're probably right. He didn't see a CRIME he saw something SUSPICIOUS and thought the kid was acting funny and might have been on drugs.
The kid was walking through a "gated community" - do you know what those are?
Following someone? How did the kid know he was following him? Maybe he might have been someone going the same way.
The kid still approached him and attacked him according to the news now.
If someone walked up and punched you in the face simply because you were walking the same way, whose fault is that?
Re: Trayvon Martin Shooting
True. He does.
Again you missed my point. Yes, it's apparent he was deliberately following the kid.
What would have happened if he had NOT be deliberately following and the kid punched his (or your) lights out - and still ended up getting shot?
Re: Trayvon Martin Shooting
Let me ask this another way Peterle...
you are walking down the street minding your own business going somewhere. You have a take a turn soon and there is a guy walking in front of you. He turns the same way you are going. When you come around the corner, he punches you in the face.
Do you fight?
Do you shoot him?
Do you run away?
Just curious.
Re: Trayvon Martin Shooting
That may be true that he's the type to call 911 at the drop of a hat. I know of the type. Sometime though that isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially when your neighborhood has been having a spate of break-ins as this neighborhood apparently had.
On top of that, asking someone what they are doing in your neighborhood isn't against the law.
Punching someone and smashing their head into a sidewalk because they ask you what you are doing is against the law.
Re: Trayvon Martin Shooting
Zimmerman was not hit from the back. He was punched in the NOSE.
He was walking away, headed back to his car when Martin came running at him and yelled. Zimmerman turned around and Martin said "Do you have a problem?"
Zimmerman said "No..."
Martin alledgely says, "You do now!" or words to that effect and then punches him in the face and when he goes down jumps on him.
Now... whether or NOT Zimmerman was following him BEFORE that point, he was WALKING AWAY. That makes what Martin did illegal.
Me... if someone hits me and knocks me to the ground and is punching me and bashing my head into the concrete, I will shoot him. No questions asked, whether he is armed or not. He's going to die.
