Re: Ryan's Thread Of General Thoughts And Musings
Well after 16 years of driving, 13 of which I've averaged about 50-55k a year for work, it finally happened.
Got my first speeding ticket. :rant1:
Popped for 73 in a 55 on a state route. Trooper claimed he was doing me a favor marking it as happening in the 55 zone instead of the 45 zone I was slowing down for that was coming up.
Got hit with instant on and was the only eastbound vehicle (trooper was westbound) for a while so the Escort 9500ix really couldn't do much to help pick up anyone in front of me getting tagged.
Was headed to Hillsboro, OH, where the ticket was issued out of, so went right to the branch of my bank in town, pulled out the fine money, and paid it before the Highland County court even had the ticket in their system (they had to manually enter it before I could pay it), about an hour after I got it. $125 to the king's coffers...
Only one ticket and accident on my record (the same incident) from about 10 years ago, plus my CCW, and yet no break/warning from the Trooper. Should have figured since it's the end of the month.
Re: Ryan's Thread Of General Thoughts And Musings
Go for deferred adjudication if available.
90 -180 day probation, don't get another ticket in the same area and then its thrown out and not on your record.
Re: Ryan's Thread Of General Thoughts And Musings
I already signed a guilty plea waiver when I paid the fine so I don't think that's an option at this point.
It sucks but, my record is squeaky clean otherwise so I don't think it will make a huge difference and I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
Of course, if somehow, lightening strikes twice and I manage another one I may have to go that route. :blackeye:

Ohio cops suck. I drove in Ohio for 12 years before I left and have been in NJ for 21 years. Cops are much bigger jerks in Ohio.
There is almost ZERO instant on in NJ. They just leave it on because there will always be someone to catch whenever they want. Traffic isn't as heavy in Ohio, so they have to pimp whomever they can.
I have had two speeding tickets in my life. Both were instant on, both in Ohio. One was laser. I also jammed an early laser system with a spotlight and IR lens, but that's another story and probably wouldn't work today.

I think, more correctly, Ohio troopers suck. Even my brother doesn't like dealing with them. :lool:
He had something similar to my stop happen by a trooper and he said the only reason he didn't get a ticket was because he was in uniform.

Made a nice score at a local Goodwill yesterday...
Had been wanting to pick up an ice maker for the last couple months, figured it would be nice to have. Cheapest one I had seen was on Woot for $75. Passed since I just couldn't justify spending that much on something I didn't really need.
Anyway, was at Goodwill and just so happened to see one with a $15 price tag on it after I finished browsing the books! Didn't know anything about the make or model but knew at $15 it was a good price regardless, assuming it worked. It looked in really good shape (still had the protective plastic on the control panel) and this store is in an upper class neighborhood so I took the chance.
Got home and looked it up. Turns out it's a $170 ice maker!
Wiped it down inside with bleach and let it sit for 24 hours to let all the compressor oil settle (like you should after transporting any refrigerating equipment in an off vertical position).
Today I filled it up with some bleach treated water to clean out all the plumbing and...

Success!
It's actually kind of cool to watch it do its thing. :D

Spotted on the way home...
Gotta say... Totally nailed the landing!

Sorry for the poor quality. Had to zoom in with the phone and navigate past the emergency equipment on the road.
Would have taken another pic as I drove by but they manage to take out a tree in the process and it was blocking everything.

It's really hard to fly off a straight road and flip your car. I suspect there's some alcohol involved.

Is that officer carrying a beer?
lol

I know I'd have to be to deal with idiots that pull that type of stuff all day!
