Agents Stop Two Trailers Full Of Immigrants
FALFURRIAS, Texas – Federal agents working a highway checkpoint stopped two loads of illegal immigrants in sealed trailers, Customs and Border Protection said Friday.

The separate stops Thursday and Friday led to the discovery of 25 immigrants. None was harmed.

Thursday's stop was at 12:30 a.m. after a Border Patrol dog alerted agents to a trailer. Nineteen illegal immigrants were found inside. The driver was arrested pending charges of alien smuggling.

Around 1 p.m. Friday, a Border Patrol dog again alerted agents to a trailer as the driver's immigration status was being verified. Six illegal immigrants were found in a sealed, refrigerated, trailer. The driver, a 29-year-old resident alien from Irving, was arrested pending charges of immigrant smuggling.

Nineteen immigrants died in a trailer near Victoria in 2003.
