Finally got the 120! Alas it is only the single bottle as I posted about before.

$37 with tax for the whole 6 pack.

Here's what else is in it:

Never had any of the other items in the pack. Apparently the Goose Island Bourbon County is another fairly hard to get brew, no idea how difficult to find the others are as I've never looked for them.

Party Source just recently started really stocking Mikkeller and there is quite a variety of brews. Might have to start looking at them.

It is definitely a tasty example of a Belgian! Taste is spicy lemon/orange. Had a huge, long-lasting head on it!

Right now, I am drinking the Goose Island Bourbon County Stout that came in the Party Source Variety Pack.

    Wow! Absolutely delicious!

I've had Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale a number of times and thought that was great but the Goose Island blows it out of the water! It isn't just it being a matter of the Goose Island being 15% versus the Bourbon Barrel being 8%, it's that the Goose Island is so much richer and more flavorful.

I can honestly say it was worth every bit of the $6 the bottle cost. It pours super dark! Nose... Yeah, it smells like bourbon. Taste... Really good bourbon. Bourbon with a slight hint of bitterness.

In honor of National Beer Day (4/7) the bottle of Dogfish 120 IPA has been opened.

    Oh. So. Good!

The nose says this is definitely an IPA. Taste is hoppy and syrupy sweet but there is 0 bitterness and 0 alcohol taste. The lack of alcohol taste is amazing given the 18% ABV. Gets even better as it warms. You could very easily down a couple of these but don't as that alcohol will sneak right up on you!

I really love my Oberon as my "drinking beer" but I honestly think this is one of the best beers I have ever had. I know it is limited release but I really wish it was a bit easier to come by. If I could get a hold of more I could actually try aging it as many people report it ages well.

If you ever have the opportunity, definitely try it!

Now that you mention it, Rick. I did enjoy enough to be redundant.

    hehehehe

    Good on you!

I finally took an afternoon break yesterday and spent a couple or five hours at Rock Bottom. haha. I tried a couple of different beers. Spent time with my son, wife and my son's friend who just returned from the Denver area after a body building contest. He took #5 in the novice category. I think he has another show to do in a couple weeks.

He was more than ready for a couple of beers (couldn't drink and could barely eat anything for like three weeks prior to the contest from the way he explained it all.)

It's made by the Elevation Beer Company in Poncha Springs, Colorado - in the mountains west of Rick's current residence. They seem to only have it locally, but I could be wrong.

    Little joint.

I could throw a stone and hit this little brewery. I never knew it was there until another beer guy said "Have you ever been to the Echo Brewery? It's pretty good." I felt like an idiot when he told me it was about a mile from my house.

Yeah, we've got a couple small breweries here in the Cincy area too. They all pitched in and did a collaboration beer for Beer Week this year. It was pretty good and at 11% is has a bit of a kick!

I'll have to grab a bottle later and post up the list of the breweries.

On a side note, I heard a great quote from Frank Sinatra yesterday, "I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day."

    BEER CONTAINS WHAT !!!???

Beer contains female hormones! Yes, that's right, FEMALE hormones

Last month, Montreal University and scientists released the results
of a recent analysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in
beer. Men should take a concerned look at their beer consumption.

The theory is that beer contains female hormones (hops contain
Phytoestrogens) and that by drinking enough beer, men turn into women.

To test the theory, 100 men each drank 8 schooners of beer within a
    one (1) hour period.

It was then observed that 100% of the test subjects, yes, 100% of
    all these men:

    1) Argued over nothing.

    2) Refused to apologize when obviously wrong.

    3) Gained weight.

    4) Talked excessively without making sense.

    5) Became overly emotional

    6) Couldn't drive.

    7) Failed to think rationally, and

    8) Had to sit down while urinating.

No further testing was considered necessary!

Send this to the men you know to warn them about drinking too much beer!
