I just passed one of those old Jeep Comanche pickups that had an "NRA - Stand and Fight" fight sticker on the tailgate along with an Obama sticker.

    Talk about

I even got closer to make sure it wasn't an anti-Obama sticker and, nope, it wasn't. Would have taken a pic but it's getting dark.

Hopefully it was some asshole lib that stuck it on without the owner knowing.

Speaking of stickers...here's my new favorite from the 2014 Shot show.

    Too bad about the typo.

I saw the video title, something about "ATF trolled at SHOT Show" but hadn't had a chance to watch it yet.

These were in front of my house yesterday...

No, they weren't trading blows. They were just discussing delivery stops.

UPS was dropping off my 2 Bushmaster ordered $44 micro red dots (surprisingly high quality!) and FedEx was dropping off the water sterlization bag I ordered from Uncle Sam's Retail Outlet (I'm going to post about that in the Survival forum, it is an interesting piece of gear) and they both happened to stop at the same time.

And they were discussing how much crap they've dropped off from gun places and planning a "hit" on you in the future.

I spent most of yesterday in the ceiling of a site pulling cable for a new camera. Let me tell you how fun it was since it was 90 outside in a 3ft. tall, unlit space with ductwork and welded steel supports blocking most direct access.

Anyway... While I was up there I found this in almost new condition:

    This is one tough can!

I happened to have an empty Monster energy drink can in the garbage can in my truck to compare it to. It is amazing how much thicker the aluminum is on this old can. It feels like I could use it as a bludgeon and then reuse it as a bludgeon again.

I suspect it was left up there by a construction crew member during original construction of the building.

I decided to leave my mark on a couple of the beams for some future person while I was in there.

Ryan, I remember those cans. You couldn't crush them easily (not as a kid I couldn't anyway).

I found out earlier today I lost a good friend and coworker to some FSA types in a shit neighborhood just trying to do his job.

I'm still in shock over the news and am not handling it too well.

ATM Repair Person Shot To Death In Roselawn

    September 30, 2014

An ATM technician went out to a job and didn't make it home alive Tuesday afternoon.

Police called the fatal shooting a "straight up ambush." The shots were fired just after 1p.m. in a parking lot on Reading Road and Losantiville in Roselawn.

The victim was hit several times. The parking lot where the man was shot was still taped off as detectives investigated the man's death Tuesday evening. People who live around the area heard 8 or 9 gunshots.

Police found the ATM repair technician shot to death in front of the machine; his work van was parked there as well. Police are looking to see whether the crime was caught by a surveillance camera in the area. They will not say whether they have any suspects.

Tracy Adkins heard the gunshots and said, "It's senseless, it's just senseless; a hardworking man trying to provide for him and his family. It's senseless with all of these guns. It's sickly. You scared to go anywhere in broad daylight, one o'clock in the afternoon, you at work and you get killed. It doesn't make any sense."

The man's work van said "Diebold" on it. The company has not commented.

Nearby schools -- Academy of Multilingual Emergent Studies and Woodward High School -- were placed on lockdown for a short period of time as police searched the area for the shooter and potential evidence.

So far, there are no reports of any arrests.

If you have any information that could help police call Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.

Police Investigating 'Ambush Robbery' Turned Homicide

    September 30, 2014

Police are investigating an "ambush robbery" turned homicide at an ATM in Roselawn Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting occurred just after 1 p.m. at a PNC ATM in a parking lot on the corner of Kenova Avenue and Reading Road.

Officer Tim Hains said the suspect fled on foot. Witnesses are cooperating with police.

"Apparently the victim was shot at the ATM," Hains said. "He was shot several times by the suspect."

The shooting appears to have been random.

"It was particularly brutal," Hains said. "This appears to have been a straight-up ambush robbery. The suspect appeared to have staked out the ATM."

Hains said this type of killing is unusual, and that shootings in this area are usually drug related or retaliatory.

Letitia Scott works in the PNC building next to the crime scene and parks in the parking lot where the ATM is located.

"I pulled out just before this happened," she said.

The victim was shot next to a van with a logo for Diebold, Inc., a software company that provides ATM security and services, according to its website. The passenger door to the van remained open as police investigated.

The ATM was open as well.

Representatives at Diebold did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Scott said the victim was servicing the ATM and a representative from the company came out about once a month, though police have not yet confirmed that.

Dozens of people gathered around the parking lot, watching as police worked the scene. Some pressed up against the crime tape, while others held back near the PNC building and looking out across the parking lot.

Hains said many of them were waiting for their cars, blocked into the scene by the crime tape.

Lisa Harris, who has lived in the area since 2007, says she uses the ATM machine twice a week.

"This is daytime — I woulda never thought that," she said.

No arrests have been made, but police believe the suspect was alone.

Man Fatally Shot At Roselawn ATM

    (Video at link)

I'm not going to mention the guy's name publicly since it hasn't been released yet but I can tell you he was a guy you rarely saw in a bad mood, very religious and an upstanding guy.

I just had lunch with him last week when we met on a call. That's the last time I talked with him. He had a wife and two grown kids.

This ATM is in an especially shitty neighborhood and I've always hated going there.

One of our team's guys was supposed to be there for a call today and showed up after the police were on scene. I wish to God it had been me to be there with him. Things might have turned out a lot differently.

    Fuck.

Police Still Searching For Man Who Shot And Killed 54-Year-Old At Roselawn ATM

    September 30, 2014

    Dan Muscarella

Police are still searching for a man they said shot and killed a 54-year-old Tuesday in front of a PNC ATM in Roselawn.

Authorities said Daniel Muscarell, an ATM technician, was working on the machine in the 7100 block of Reading Road just after 1:10 p.m. when he was shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting triggered a search for a Rumpke garbage truck.

Officers said they initially believed the shooter threw his handgun into the truck as it passed on Reading Road.

Authorities stopped and searched the truck on Hamilton Avenue, but no gun was found.

Joshua Gill, who was nearby when Muscarell was killed, said he's afraid for his safety while using an ATM.

"Nobody is safe," Gill said. "(Criminals) don't care if it's broad daylight. They don't care if you have kids or a wife... They just don't care."

Cincinnati police said Roselawn residents should stay alert as officers continue searching for the shooter.

WCPO will update this story when more information becomes available.
