Default Mass Shooting: Connecticut School Sandy Hook

    Connecticut Newtoown;

Not confirmed at this time from FNC

FNC is getting a "blurb" from a website stating multiple injuries. Superintendent is saying "lock down only" and a secretary stated "lock down and evacuation".

    Nothing is confirmed yet.

FNC reporting "one dead", "several injuries" but there are NO details. The "dead" appears to be a shooter (or one of the shooters). Apparently there is a second shooter, no further information at this time.

Oh man... they are reporting, authorities want parents to stay by a phone and "wait for a call" from the emergency operations folks.

FNC has a chopper en route.

The school has 700 students. At least one is dead, and one teacher has been reported as wounded.

Chaos after shooting at Newtown school

    Updated 11:21 am, Friday, December 14, 2012

Frantic parents are converging at the fire station near Sandy Hook Elementary School after reports of multiple shootings at the school this morning.

Danbury Police Chief Al Baker said there are fatalities from the shooting. He brought in extra officers to Danbury Hospital to control the "chaos expected as parents and media arrive."
Children are being evacuated to the firehouse and all schools in town are locked down.
A parent who picked up their child at the school reported that children were advised by a fireman to close their eyes and run past the office.
The parent said the shooting took place during an administrator's meeting.
Superintendent of Schools Janet Robinson is at the firehouse where parents are picking up their children. She is trying to contact the school's principal, Dawn Hochsprung.
Unofficial reports of reporters on the scene indicate a man was led out of the woods in handcuffs and taken away by police.
Police are planning a press conference for 1 p.m.
The Newtown Bee is reporting one child was carried out by a police officer and apparently was wounded.
State police said they will hold a press conference at 1 p.m.
Andrea Rynn, spokeswoman for Western Connecticut Health Network, said Danbury Hospital's emergency department has convened its emergency team to be ready for the victims of this incident. She did not say how many victims are expected from the shooting.
Rynn said that "out of an abundance of caution'' the hospital put its emergency department on lockdown Friday. There is no direct threat to the department, she said.
Robinson said it is best if parents do not try to call the school at this time. The school district will release a message once further information is known.
Danbury parochial schools and Bethel schools are in lockdown as a precaution. Danbury schools are keeping close watch.
Baker said he brought an extra shift of officers for the schools. While indications are the Danbury schools are safe, he said it would be "prudent to take precautions."
"We are doing our due diligence to make sure our schools are safe," Baker said.
