    Exclamation Site Slow

Just wanted to let everyone know I am aware of the slowness the site seems to be currently experiencing.

After looking into it, it appears this is a performance issue with GoDaddy (where we are hosting our site).

There is currently no ETA on resolution but, GoDaddy is typically pretty quick in getting these issues addressed.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

Not good enough. Its been getting slower every day for about 5 days and last night went out altogether. GoDaddy, I am not impressed.

The only grace at this time is it is a tad more normal again, but man, I happily left dialup speeds in the 90's.

Very annoying. I've noticed that my personal website is slow right now...it's hosted on the west coast, I'm on the east coast. Maybe there is an east/west thing going on.
Seems to be a problem with secureserver.net.

Either that or there is a filter in place for packet traffic that is deployed and not working very efficiently.

    http://www.internettrafficreport.com/namerica.htm

Reports a 93 index for North America Internet and that is a very good rating based upon some prior ones.

The Internet Traffic Report monitors the flow of data around the world. It then displays a value between zero and 100. Higher values indicate faster and more reliable connections.

this all started a few days ago when the Right World went nuts over guns.

There are militia groups forming all over the place. They are using the internet to communicate in the open (and being open about it) and I suspect there is more going on than just that. I think there are monitors being turned on.

Our own internal stuff is routed through something internal and every packet is sniffed and it slows the hell out of our systems at work. I KNOW there is stuff in place (this is a fact, its not made up and it's something I'm aware of). So - a lot of ISPs have fallen for the "rules" and allowed installation of such software.

Our country is fouled up and everyone knows it, and they are all trying to get into position now.

I agree with your assessment, Rick. After the implementation of the Patriot Act we saw the framework for the beginning of this type of web monitoring. It has been further pushed in these last 4 years far beyond the original scope. The rules you speak of are FISA.

FISA is about citizens who speak with foreigners. The allowance of monitoring of such communications. The nature of the Internet is without country borders, thus we are eligible to be monitored since we do get International traffic, therefore we are in communication with foreigners. This even if we do not say a single word to any person not in the US.

Oh and btw, last night I tried three times to place a call with a friend in Uruguay. He grew up here but lives there now.

Anyway, the first attempt was so low on both our volumes and no ring was heard. We hung up.

Second try I heard a US ring sound not the International ring tone. My friend could not hear me at all, but I could sort of hear him. We hung up.

Third try I heard the International ring tone and heard his well as was normal, but he could barely hear me. We gave up for the evening.

I'm not at all certain we're not under a cyber attack here in the states at this point.

It would be about par for the course, the Chinese, or Norks or someone - maybe the Muslims.... fuck with everyone that way.

Ok, a quick bit of looking around and secureserver.net is the nameserver for GoDaddy.

Don't know if it is just me but, it sure seems like the site is responding a lot more quickly this morning.

I've noticed there is still a hiccup every now and then where it will slow down but it does seem improved.

Yes, I had a hick up occur just after my last post in this thread, then all okay again. I still find myself despising GoDaddy, though.
