    CIA Director Brennan Confirmed as Reporter Michael Hastings Next Target.


    This week Elise Jordan, wife of famed journalist Michael Hastings, who recently died under suspicious circumstances, corroborated this reporter’s sources that CIA Director, John Brennan was Hastings next exposé project (CNN clip).


    Last month a source provided San Diego 6 News with an alarming email hacked from super secret CIA contractor Stratfor’s President Fred Burton. The email (link here) was posted on WikiLeaks and alleged that then Obama counter-terrorism Czar Brennan, was in charge of the government’s continued crackdown or witch-hunt on investigative journalists.


    After providing the Stratfor email to the CIA for comment, the spymaster’s spokesperson responded in lightning speed. Two emails were received; one acknowledging Hastings was working on a CIA story and the other said, “Without commenting on information disseminated by WikiLeaks, any suggestion that Director Brennan has ever attempted to infringe on constitutionally-protected press freedoms is offensive and baseless.”


    The emails also prompted a phone from CIA media spokesman Todd Ebitz. He said they were saddened by Michael’s death and reiterated their position that they had a cordial working relationship with the investigative reporter.


    On the other hand, Stratfor, specifically Fred Burton, remains nonresponsive.


    As for Hastings’ final story, his wife said Rolling Stone would publish the Brennan piece in an upcoming edition of the magazine.


    Was speed a factor?


    The release of a new surveillance video from a nearby Italian restaurant by Michael Krikorian, an author, freelance blogger who also writes for LA Weekly, reveals a lot of information about Hastings’ final seconds.


    An SDSU professor Morteza M. Mehrabadi, Professor and Interim Chair Areas of Specialization: Mechanics of Materials told San Diego 6 News that calculating the speed of Hastings car follows a simple mathematic equation. By using the video and the distance traveled (195 feet) as well as the seconds that lapsed prior to the explosion – in his opinion, the car was traveling roughly 35 mph.


    That revelation is important because Jose, an employee of ALSCO a nearby business, and a witness to the accident told KTLA/Loud Labs (Scott Lane) the car was traveling at a high rate of speed and he saw sparks coming from the car and saw it explode BEFORE hitting the tree.


    The pre-explosion could possibly explain the flash of light on the video that preceded the appearance of the car in the video. The pre-explosion and slower speed could also explain the minimal damage to the palm tree and the facts the rear tires rested against the curb. It also provides an explanation for the location of the engine and drive train at more than 100 feet from the tree impact area.


    This new information prompted another round of FOIA/CPRAs and only adds to the questions that remain unanswered. One of those questions is where was Mr. Hastings going at 4:30 in the morning? Based on the accident location, Hastings was only 1.5 miles from his home and was headed away from his address.


    Other unanswered questions point to the contents (computer, phones, notes, etc.) of his home, so far there has been no response from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) FOIA request regarding these issues. Also, numerous FOIAs have been filed with other federal agencies concerning details of Hastings suspicious car “accident.”

    FBI Admits It Has Documents On Michael Hastings.

    The FBI has tacitly admitted that it possesses documents pertaining to Michael Hastings despite initially claiming that it had never investigated the Rolling Stone journalist, who complained of being under scrutiny by the federal agency in the hours before his death.

    “The Department of Justice (DOJ) has indicated that the FBI has likely located responsive records pertaining to investigative journalist Michael Hastings, who died in a tragic car accident in Los Angeles in June, and the agency expects to finish processing the records in about three weeks,” reports Jason Leopold, who along with Ryan Shapiro filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the FBI in an attempt to obtain any records the federal agency held on the reporter.


    When the FBI failed to respond to the initial request, Leopold and Shapiro filed a lawsuit


    “The FBI has completed its search for potentially responsive records and expects to finish processing the records by September 9,” the DOJ response states (PDF), confirming that the FBI does indeed have documents pertaining to Hastings.


    However, the government’s attempt to delay the release of the documents prompted lawyer Jeffrey Light to argue that there is an “urgent need to inform the public regarding records maintained by the FBI about Mr. Michael Hastings.”


    The revelation goes a long way to confounding claims made by the FBI shortly after Hastings’ death that, “At no time was journalist Michael Hastings under investigation by the FBI.”


    Hastings sent an email hours before his death stating he was “onto a big story” and needed “to go off the rada[r] for a bit.” Friends and colleagues confirmed that the journalist was “very paranoid” about the feds watching him.


    According to whistleblower organization WIkileaks, Hastings contacted a Wikileaks attorney “just a few hours before he died, saying that the FBI was investigating him.”


    A separate close friend of Hastings also told ******** that the journalist’s home was visited by agents from an unnamed federal agency the day before his death.


    Hastings was killed in the early hours of June 18 in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.when his Mercedes crashed into a tree at high speed and exploded into flames, sparking theories that the journalist, who was working on a major exposé of the CIA and had received death threats, could have been assassinated.

    Meet the Journalist Spreading Michael Hastings Conspiracy Theories.
    The Los Angeles Police Department has ruled out foul play in journalist Michael Hastings’ fatal car crash two months ago in Hollywood, but several media outlets are continuing to promote conspiracy theories about the circumstances surrounding his death. The theories, which suggest Hastings was assassinated shortly after sending friends a frantic email, have received attention beyond the usual fringe suspects partly because of ongoing reporting by freelance blogger Kimberly Dvorak for the CW Television Network affiliate San Diego 6.


    Dvorak, whom the station touts as an “investigative journalist,” is a “National Homeland Security Correspondent” for Examiner.com, a blog network owned by Republican billionaire Philip Anschutz that has minimal editorial oversight. Since Hastings’ death, San Diego 6 has repeatedly given Dvorak airtime to float conspiracy theories—that the crash was not consistent with a car accident, that Hastings was cremated to cover up foul play, that federal officials may have ordered him killed. None of these theories, which often come from unnamed sources, are backed up by convincing evidence, but reputable media outlets keep falling for Dvorak’s reporting anyway.


    Last month, for example, the Independent, a major British newspaper, picked up Dvorak’s report claiming that Hastings’ body “was cremated and it wasn’t the request of the family…in fact, the family wanted Michael’s body to go home.” But on Tuesday, veteran journalist Russ Baker dispelled the myth on his news site WhoWhatWhy by talking to a family member who confirmed that the cremation was done at the family’s request. Dvorak later removed the passage saying Hastings’ family wanted his body to “go home,” but her story still hints at a cover-up, calling the cremation a “macabre twist.”


    Dvorak’s other theories are just as questionable. She claimed on air that the engine of Hastings’ Mercedes C250 coupe had been found behind the crash site, which would have been impossible with the forward velocity of an ordinary accident. The engine was found in front of the crash site. Her suggestion that a grainy video of the crash showed evidence of a “pre-explosion” sabotage has been dismissed by car experts. She has also reported that the intensity of the resulting fire might suggest the use of thermite accelerants—a popular theory among 9/11 truthers who believe thermite was used to melt the World Trade Center towers’ steel columns. She’s written credulously about the theory that President Barack Obama may not have been born in the United States. And Dvorak has repeated speculation by Richard Clarke, the former Bush- and Clinton-era counterterrorism czar, that Hastings’ car’s computer system may have been remotely hacked—something that’s technically possible but highly unlikely.

    Fox 11 Reporter, Producer Martin Burns Dies in Hiking Accident



    Another hiker discovered his body in a ravine below a trail leading to Inspiration Point in the Angeles National Forest, according to MyFoxLA.com. The preliminary cause of death is trauma sustained from a fall off the steep trail.

    Fox’s Gigi Graciette tweeted, “Sad week for our FOX 11 family as we lose friend + colleague Martin Burns in hiking accident.”

    “He made a personal difference in my professional life every day,” Fox 11′s VP News Director Kingsley Smith told the network. “Whenever he stopped by to share a story, I saw the deep passion and dedication in his work and projects.”

    Medical producer Gerri Shaftel told Fox 11 that Burns went above and beyond the call of duty.

    “Martin, an amazing and talented investigative producer, put his life on the line repeatedly to chase stories,” Shaftel said. “He was the guy the rest of us worried about. Martin survived close encounters with flying bullets and cross-border drug wars. I can’t imagine the loss to his son and my colleagues who worked most closely with him. Life is too short.”

    reports: Questions haunt the families of Extortion 17, the 2011 helicopter mission in Afghanistan that suffered the most U.S. military deaths in a single day in the war on terrorism.


    The investigative file made available to The Washington Times show that the helicopter’s landing zone was not properly vetted for threats nor protected by gunships, while commanders criticized the mission as too rushed and the conventional Chinook chopper as ill-suited for a dangerous troop infiltration.


    Every day, Charlie Strange, the father of one of the 30 Americans who died Aug. 6, 2011, in the flash of a rocket-propelled grenade, asks himself whether his son, Michael, was set up by someone inside the Afghan government wanting revenge on Osama bin Laden’s killers — SEAL Team 6.


    “Somebody was leaking to the Taliban,” said Mr. Strange, whose son intercepted communications as a Navy cryptologist. “They knew. Somebody tipped them off. There were guys in a tower. Guys on the bush line. They were sitting there, waiting. And they sent our guys right into the middle.”



    Doug Hamburger’s son, Patrick, an Army staff sergeant, also perished when the CH-47D Chinook descended to a spot less than 150 yards from where armed Taliban fighters watched from a turret.


    He asks why the command sent his son into Tangi Valley toward a “hot landing zone” in a cargo airship instead of a special operations helicopter. The souped-up choppers — the MH-47 and the MH-60 Black Hawk, which SEAL Team 6 rode the stealth version of to kill bin Laden — are flown by Night Stalker pilots skilled in fast, ground-hugging maneuvers to avoid detection.


    “When you want to fly them into a valley, when you’ve got hillsides on both sides of it with houses built into sides of the valley, that is an extremely dangerous mission,” Mr. Hamburger said. “The MH, the new model, they’ve got radar that will pick up an incoming missile or incoming RPG. They’re faster. They’re quicker on attack. They’re more agile. So there was every reason in the world to use the MH that night.”


    Sith Douangdara, whose 26-year-old son, John, was a Navy expeditionary specialist who handled warrior dog Bart, said he has lots of unanswered questions.

    “I want to know why so many U.S. servicemen, especially SEALs, were assembled on one aircraft,” he said. “I want to know why the black box of the helicopter has not been found. I want to know many things.”



    Not all families believe the fact-finding investigation, conducted by Army Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Colt covered all issues. Gen. Colt, who has since been promoted to major general, told commanders that his job was not to find fault and his report did not criticize any person or decision.


    “I want people held accountable,” said Mr. Strange, a former union construction worker who deals blackjack in a Philadelphia casino.


    A spokesman for U.S. Central Command, which overseas the war and conducted the probe, declined to answer the families’ questions and referred a reporter to Gen. Colt’s report.


    Congress gets involved



    More than two years later, more answers may be forthcoming.


    The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, led by Rep. Darrell E. Issa, California Republican, is making inquiries after meeting with some families.

    Loretta Fuddy, director of the Hawaii Department of Health, reportedly died due to injuries she received in the crash of a small commuter plane shortly before 4:00 p.m. local time Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Confirmation of her death occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. local time (1:00 a.m. Eastern time The plane crash occurred about a half-mile off shore of the north shore of Molokai, shortly after taking off from Kalaupapa, Emergency officials responding to the crash site reported seeing eight people floating in the water wearing life vests.).

    According to initial news reports, Fuddy was one of eight other people—including the pilot—in the plane and the only person to succumb to her injuries. Based on reports from EMS sources, three survivors were taken to Oahu, three to Molokai General Hospital and two members of the plane’s party declined treatment.

    Fuddy was at the center of controversy in the birth certificate controversy as she was the person who reportedly granted “an exception” to Barack Obama, allegedly witnessing the copying of Obama’s birth certificate and attested to its authenticity.     HONOLULU (AP) — The pilot of the plane that crashed off Molokai said he broadcast a mayday call once he realized he wouldn't be able to sustain a glide long enough to reach land after his engine lost power.

    The single-engine plane had just taken off from Kalaupapa last week when he heard a loud bang, pilot Clyde Kawasaki told reporters Wednesday. He described seeing red and yellow lights on the panel and having to quickly go into action. "I knew I had to head for land," he said. But he had to abandon that plan: "I said we're gonna go for a swim."

    Hawaii Health Director Loretta Fuddy was a passenger on the flight. She was the only fatality.

    After Kawasaki broadcast the mayday call and his plane emitted an emergency locator transmitter, the airport tower operator made contact with another plane in the area. That plane's pilot guided rescuers to the nine people he spotted floating in the sea one-half mile from shore.

    Josh Lang, a helicopter pilot who was flying his private plane to Maui with his girlfriend, said it was "pure luck" they were in the area. "It looked like most people were waving and it looked like they were OK," Lang said.

    His girlfriend, Jaimee Thompson, said they felt obligated to stay until help arrived, to give the people in the water hope that they would be rescued.

    Kawasaki said he drew on his experience as a glider pilot to land the plane on its belly in the rough waters. When he landed, he saw the cockpit covered with blood — his from hitting his head on the panel. Water was waist-high in the plane as he instructed the passengers to put on their life jackets and get out. He quickly handed his life jacket to a passenger. "There was one left and I gave it away," he said. "There was no time to get another one."

    When he grew weary of treading without a preserver in the water, he clung to a passenger.

    In the water, he looked at his watch. It was 4 p.m. He remembered noting that their on-time departure was 3:15 p.m.

    The last time he saw Fuddy, she seemed fine, he said. "It was devastating to say the least," he said of learning later that she had died. "I could not understand how that could have happened....everybody seemed fine when we got out of the airplane."

    Kawasaki, a pilot since he was 14, said he always aspired to end his career without having damaged a plane or injuring a person. "I feel really, really bad," he said. "It hurts."

    He said he spoke with Fuddy's family when her body was returned to Honolulu earlier this week, but he declined to discuss the conversation.

    A cause of death has not yet been determined, according to Maui police. Police spokesman Lt. William Juan said Wednesday that the National Transportation Safety Board has jurisdiction over the entire investigation, including determining Fuddy's cause of death. However, NTSB spokesman Eric Weiss has said the agency is not preventing the county from releasing findings from Fuddy's autopsy, which was conducted Friday.

    Meanwhile, a salvage dive team has started to recover the plane from the water, Makani Kai Air owner Richard Schuman said. He said he hopes the engine can be recovered, but the plane can't be pulled out of the water in one piece.

    Pilots Lang and Kawasaki reflected on the magnitude of the crash. Lang remembers seeing whales and dolphins nearby, which he said made the experience feel "spiritual." Kawasaki remembers praying, "keep us going," to St. Damien and St. Marianne, who cared for leprosy patients exiled to Kalaupapa.

    This is sort of old news, but I had to post anyway. I just watched an episode of Sons of Guns from 2012 featuring Chris Kyle. It still angers me that he's gone through seemingly questionable circumstances.

    On the show, he was all class. He wouldn't reveal a thing about any mission he was a part of nor bad mouth anyone in the current administration. I find it ironic that he cared for this country and its people far more than the admin cared about him. I'm curious regarding whatever happened to Kyle's murderer.

    The director of Hawaii's Department of Health Loretta Fuddy was killed Wednesday in a plane crash. The eight other passengers onboard survived.

    Authorities say the cause of death for the Hawaii health director who died after an airplane crashed off the island of Molokai was cardiac arrhythmia — an irregular heartbeat.


    Loretta Fuddy died due to the stress from the horrific Dec. 11 plunge into the water after the single-engine Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft lost power, Maui police said Monday.


    The pilot and eight other passengers aboard the aircraft all survived without significant injuries. They were rescued by emergency crews, said Richard Schuman, the president of Makani Kai Air.


    Clyde Kawasaki, the pilot, has said Fuddy seemed to be in fine condition while bobbing in the water after everyone left the airplane and waited for rescue crews to show up at the scene.


    Fuddy first hit the headlines two years ago when she approved a waiver request allowing President Barack Obama to access certified copies of his long form birth certificate — a document signed by the delivery doctor, Obama's mother and the local registrar.


    "Birthers" — proponents of the theory that Obama was not born in the U.S. states — had longed questioned why Obama had not ensured the long form certificate was released.


    Because of that connection, Fuddy's death in December sparked a wave of conspiracy theorizing on the internet and various media outlets.


    The National Transportation Safety Board is probing the incident. Its preliminary report stated the airplane floated for roughly 25 minutes before sinking.

    HONOLULU (AP) — Cardiac arrhythmia was the cause of death for the Hawaii health director who died after a small plane lost power and crash-landed off the Hawaiian island of Molokai, police said Monday.


    Loretta Fuddy's condition was the result of stress from the Dec. 11 crash, Maui police announced. The pilot of the single-engine plane and seven other passengers survived without major injuries.


    Fuddy gained attention in 2011 after deciding to publicly release President Barack Obama's Hawaii birth certificate to rebut claims he was born outside the U.S.


    Pilot Clyde Kawasaki and a passenger who swam to shore have said Fuddy, 65, appeared fine while bobbing in the water after everyone exited the plane and waited for help. Rescuers eventually pulled Kawasaki and the others from the water.


    The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash. Its preliminary report says the small commercial plane floated for about 25 minutes before sinking.
    The health department didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.


    One passenger, C. Phillip Hollstein Jr., has said he credits Kawasaki for being the reason nearly everyone survived.


    When the plane's lone engine failed, the 60-year-old veteran pilot and passengers stayed calm as the aircraft glided toward the ocean and made a belly landing in rough waters, Hollstein recounted. The engine on Makani Kai Air's 2002 Cessna Grand Caravan turboprop cut out less than a minute after takeoff from the island of Molokai, just as the plane was making a turn toward its destination of Honolulu.


    There was a "muffled bang," Hollstein has said, and "then we were a glider."


    He said Kawasaki expertly maneuvered the plane after the engine failed, avoiding what could have been a catastrophic impact on the water. People put on life jackets and remained in the plane until it started sinking.


    "There wasn't panic or anything," Hollstein has said. "It was very orderly."


    Hollstein, 70, said he swam about a half-mile in 6-foot waves to Molokai's rugged shoreline, thinking the others aboard the plane were fine bobbing in their life vests, awaiting rescue. He said he was surprised to learn later that Fuddy died.


    Fuddy was clinging to the hand of her deputy, Keith Yamamoto, who tried to help her relax, according to the Rev. Patrick Killilea, who consoled Yamamoto after the crash.


    Fuddy and Yamamoto were on the flight after an annual visit to Kalaupapa, where the state exiled leprosy patients until 1969. The settlement is still run by the health department, though only a few former leprosy patients live there.


    Makani Kai Air owner Richard Schuman said he has no idea why the engine failed. The plane had no previous problems, he said.

    I find it amazing a 70 yr old pilot swims to shore.

    The "deputy" was there. He lived.

    What kind of drug can you inject into someone to make their heart go into fibrillation? Anyone know?

    Was there a check for drugs in her system?

    Was this guy also an Obama Drone?

    Loretta Fuddy's irregular heartbeat was the result of stress from the Dec. 11 crash, Maui police announced, revealing the findings of an autopsy conducted two days after the crash. The pilot and seven other passengers on the Makani Kai Air flight survived without major injuries.


    Pilot Clyde Kawasaki and a passenger who swam to shore have said Fuddy appeared fine while bobbing in the water after everyone exited the plane and waited for help. Rescuers eventually pulled Kawasaki and the others from the water.


    The National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report on the crash said the single-engine plane floated for about 25 minutes before sinking.


    Fuddy, 65, was healthy and didn't have any known heart problems, her brother, Lewis Fuddy, said Monday.


    "She wasn't an anxious person," he said. "To be head of the Health Department, you have to have some cool nerves."


    Fuddy gained attention in 2011 for her role in releasing President Barack Obama's Hawaii birth certificate to rebut claims he was born outside the U.S.



    A spokeswoman said the Health Department had no comment on the cause of death.


    Knowing the cause of Fuddy's death doesn't alleviate the grief, her brother said.


    "I don't think it's every going to bring any comfort to us," he said. "We felt she had a lot of years to live and only the Lord knows why."


    Kawasaki agreed that the cause of death doesn't make him feel better: "The end result is a fatality in a crash."


    More questions remain, including why the engine lost power, he said.

    Kawasaki, who received stitches and was hospitalized after hitting his head on the control panel, said he's still waiting for medical clearances to be able to pilot a plane again. He said he flew in the co-pilot's seat last week for a trip to Molokai with one of the passengers from the crash. They met with some of the people who came to their aid during the aftermath.

    The pilot and eight other passengers aboard the aircraft all survived without significant injuries. They were rescued by emergency crews, said Richard Schuman, the president of Makani Kai Air.

    Wow. There's a bunch of stuff on that list, any of which might be used. The one that got me was Asthma meds.....also antihistamines.

    Bonine, Dramamine and several others taken before a flight come to mind, routinely used to stave off air sickness and sea sickness.
