    Default Favorite car

Guys, do you have a favorite car? Mine has always been a Corvette, the new Corvette C7 stingray is nothing but amazing to my eyes.

I also love German cars, very reliable and good-looking. Mercedes would be my top choice here. There are some beautiful examples at BlackLane. I find those Mercedes limousines so classy and whenever I see someone driving through London or any big city I instantly think they must be important. If you want to take a look here you'll know exactly what I mean.

What about you? As long as it has four tyres, name whatever you want!

The new Stingray is a good looking car. Specs look pretty darn good too.

I've got a lot of "favorite" cars but of them, there's really only one I can hope to own, the Jaguar XKR:

The XKR-S is nicer but they'll remain too expensive for me to likely ever own one.

I've been a car guy since I was about 10 years of age. I've had several favorites that wax and wane with the seasons of my life.

At 10 through roughly 16 years of age, it was the venerable Porsche 911 turbo in all guises. Simply Outrageous.

At my current age, approximately 4.7 times the age of my youthful debut into motorcars, my tastes have refined considerably.

    Best exotic: Ferrari F12. Front-engined 730bhp V12

    Best sedan: BMW M5. 4.4 liter 560 hp twin-turbo v-8

And, although dated and not a production model, I still think the best looking truck ever is the Ford Mighty F350 Tonka. V-8 Turbo diesel 350 horsepower and 600 ft-lbs. of torque.

    MMCO,
You seen the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento?

They just had it on this past Sunday's Top Gear. Simply an amazing piece of automotive engineering! It came in #2 on their leader board right behind the Pagani Huayra but couldn't be officially included since it isn't street legal.

All 20 to be produced have already been bought.

If I had to pick an exotic, it would be the Lamborghini Aventador...

I've always been a huge Lamborghini fan. I've loved them since I first read an article as a kid about the Silhouette and the Countach. The Miura is still one of my favorites. They are the epitome of outrageous automotive engineering from an outfit that stepped onto the scene making tractors. The Aventador, Veneno and Reventon... all are automotive works of art. Until you mentioned it, I wasn't aware of the Sesto Elemento. I feal horribly out of touch.

Damn, the Porsche 911 and Lamborghini Sesto Elemento really look fantastic!!!! Such sleek designs, simply gorgeous!

Man, there are just too many beautiful cars out there, wish I owned millions of dollars and could purchase them all.. having one car for each single day of the week would be so amazing.

Friday seems to be the day I think about other stuff. Got to thinking about cars again. Consistently one of the most beautiful cars ever is the Aston Martin. The 2013 Vanquish takes it hands down for me.

Yep, Astons are generally really good looking cars.

Hence my desire for an XKR which had the same designer as some Astons, Ian Callum. Thanks to Jag's notoriously poor retention of value, it's basically a poor man's Aston.

In fact, Top Gear did a segment for Series 9 on the XKR comparing it to the V8 Vantage in only the way Top Gear can, which was what made fall in love with it. And that was the 1st Gen of that body style. I want the 2010+ which was the Gen 2 with a bigger, better engine and a number of other improvements.

You're right, Ryan. There's something about Jaguars. They're very unique. Remember this one?

One of the prettiest cars ever made, even if they had some trouble.

I've always had a place in my heart for Corvettes, despite my disdain for General Motors. On the way to work today two brand new Corvettes passed me in tandem. Both had Michigan license plates. I figure they were press test cars being driven to eventually compose articles about the car. Road & Track, Car & Driver and the like. At first siting (albeit from about 1/4 mile away) I thought the cars from behind were Ferrari F430s. As I got closer it was clear they were not. My only comment re the design is that the lines and shape of the taillights and rear deck was awkward and somewhat unrefined, to me.

    You judge...

Admittedly, rear ends of cars seem to be exceedingly difficult to get right, not unlike those of human beings. There are some car companies that do it better than others.

    Lamborghini Miura Concept

    1963 Split Window Corvette Coupe

    Auburn Boattail Speedster

On the Vette, I think overall it looks decent. The only thing I think I don't care for are the 4 pipes, it comes across as a bit much. I think 2 might have looked better.

Agreed. Not too subtle. Then again most American car companies have the sublety of design of a male rhinoceros.

    MMCO,
That picture of that Auburn you posted reminded me of a car I'm planning on buying if I ever win the lottery.

Since every lottery winner needs an ostentatious car to show off in, here's mine - the Delahaye USA Bella Figura (modeled after the 1937 Bugatti Type 57S) in a polished aluminum finish.

A stealthy looking black one is pretty sexy too...

    And a gratuitous ass shot...
