Round 1 over and done with.

Saw some pea-marble sized hail. Plenty of rain. My yard is a lake thanks to the saturated soil. Wind wasn't too bad.

Hope round 2 is just as uneventful.

Oops, got distracted and forgot to post this earlier.

Looks like there's a little mini line firing up between rounds 1 and 2 now. Maybe it will help suck up some of the available energy for round 2.

Line looks to be losing organization out west. Still looks like it's packing some decent rains and probably winds though.

We're still under a tornado watch until 1am.

We've gone from 75 degrees and tornado watches yesterday to accumulating snow Friday night-Saturday.

Accuweather is currently saying 2-4". SREF plumes give a 5" mean between the models.

So a Spring month could be the snowiest of all Winter.

Might not be anything at all now.

Accuweather has gotten rid of totals on the forecast and models are now showing almost nothing around here. SREF plumes fell off a cliff. Mean is around 1.5" now.

Models not knowing what they're doing inside of 48hrs? Gee, haven't seen that one before... Talk about story of this whole season.

We've still been way below normal on temps for this time of year.

Figured I'd share a cool picture of a shelf cloud that rolled through just ahead of some strong storms we had come through Friday.

Wouldn't it be nice if those clouds formed and an Independence Day size UFO came through? Since most of the population centers are deep blue, well, so it goes.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw it.

And they'd probably be out holding "Aliens Welcome" signs like that dumb bimbo in the movie.

Just in the for what it's worth category.

    the accuweather forums are closing.

Most users seem to be migrating to wxforums.net and others to Americanwx.com

The first site seems to be shit software, the second much better but apparently there are personality issues over there. Shrug. I signed up at both and will spend my time at whichever one has the monster snow maps. heh.

I saw that and have been keeping an eye on things. I already signed up at wxforums. Don't think I looked at Americanwx yet but I'll have to.

Was kind of waiting to see where everyone ultimately ended up.

Really sucks as I relied on those forums not just for Winter weather fun but, for keeping an eye on the severe weather outlook in more detail than what local mets will offer. Often they won't get into the detail on potential dangers like the forums did so as to not panic the sheep. Sometimes that's lead to nasty weather sneaking up.

As of writing this post, we've had 5.12" of rain in the last 24 hours from the remnants of Gordon.

This has been an unbelievably wet year between the near record flooding in Spring, the continuously hot and humid Summer, and now this rain.

My yard hasn't browned up a single bit and is still growing almost as fast as it was in the Spring.

Keeping an eye on Florence. It's got some potential to be a big, serious storm...

Since that last post we've gotten just over another inch.

Right now it's still raining though just light showers.

Something else interesting is the temperature is 59 right now. Forecast high is supposed to be 68 but I'm not sure we're going to hit that. This is after last week where 5 of the 7 days were 90 or higher.

Looking like Flo could potentially make landfall as a Cat 5.

Got a buddy in Wilmington, NC, right in the bullseye. Said he's planning on riding it out. Said he's been through a bunch of hurricanes and is 5 miles from the shore so he's not worried about flooding. Fortunately his house is brick. I just hope he's got his roof secured well.

    I don't think I'd take my chances with a Cat 4 or 5.

Water already coming over the dunes in OBX and Flo is still 3 days out!

    That's some serious tidal surge.

Some incredible video from one of the Hurricane Hunter flights penetrating the eyewall of Michael as it was making landfall:

Tyndall AFB got hit hard. The static display F-15 was one casualty:

Pretty sure most all of their aircraft ended up up here at Wright Patt. Heard a number of military jet engines outside making South to North overflights of my place the other day before the storm hit.

Well, after a couple teases with early snow in November, it looks like it's going to be another brown Christmas here in the Ohio Valley.
