    Default Shooting Stars

My Dashcam caught a shooting star this morning. I saw something that I thought was a shooting star, checked the footage and sure enough, there it was. This particular thing was in the eastern sky, probably due east from my viewing position

Neat! Good thing it wasn't bigger.

I know I posted it before but this seems like a good thread to post it in again. I took some video of the 2012 Geminid meteor shower through my night vision. It is extremely hard to pick them up because of the inherent narrow FOV with NV, unless you happen to be running a wide angle lens in front of it, but you can see a couple I managed to capture.

The one I got was during sunrise and was still very visible. I'm guessing it was a fairly large one and had I been closer, the visuals would have been pretty neat.

Usually if there is a meteor shower you have a better chance of catching those in the hours before sunrise instead of after sunset.

I checked and I don't see a normal meteor shower during this month. The Lyrids start being active in April, but more toward the end of the month.

Of course there are always random pieces of matter hitting the atmosphere.
