Good thread!
I know I had talked about going with a plane for my drone but after getting some stick time on both I've decided a Quad/Hex/Octo-copter is going to be the way to go.
It is a much more stable platform and it also seems to have become the dominant platform for drones so, the support base and product offerings should be better.
I've currently got an Estes ProtoX mini-quadcopter I've been playing around with. Because it is so small, it isn't the easiest to control but I've gotten a lot better with some practice. It is great for chasing the dogs around the yard!
