    Good thread!

I know I had talked about going with a plane for my drone but after getting some stick time on both I've decided a Quad/Hex/Octo-copter is going to be the way to go.

It is a much more stable platform and it also seems to have become the dominant platform for drones so, the support base and product offerings should be better.

I've currently got an Estes ProtoX mini-quadcopter I've been playing around with. Because it is so small, it isn't the easiest to control but I've gotten a lot better with some practice. It is great for chasing the dogs around the yard!

I'll be getting something small soon I hope. Been so busy with all the crap in our lives though I haven't had time.

I paid about $40 for my ProtoX from a local hobby shop. About another $10 in extra props and $5 on a snap on bumper off eBay that promptly broke. If you get the ProtoX make sure you put a dab of Loctite in the prop to keep them from flying off with every collision.

New Jersey Man Accused Of Shooting Down Neighbor’s Remote Control Drone

” A New Jersey man was arrested after police say he shot down a neighbor’s remote control drone.

According to investigators, officers with the Lower Township Police Department were called to a home in the 1000 block of Seashore Road on September 26th to investigate the report by a resident that his remote control helicopter (drone) was shot down.

Investigators say the resident was taking aerial photographs of his friend’s home, which is under construction.

While doing so, the resident told police he heard several gunshots as he simultaneously lost control of the drone.

After retrieving the drone, the resident observed multiple holes in it that were consistent with a shotgun blast.”
