THE £2.5million opening scene for Jeremy Clarkson’s new car show is the most expensive ever seen on the small screen.

Shot in the Californian desert, it features 150 cars, 2,000 “petrolheads”, acrobats, stilt-walkers and six jet planes.

Clarkson, 56, and sidekicks Richard Hammond and James May sped across the Lucerne Valley in customised red, white and blue Ford Mustangs.

The trio were followed by £20million worth of cars, including a Bugatti Veyron and Rolls-Royce.

A source said: “Nothing remotely like it has been seen before.”

The Grand Tour launches on Amazon Prime next month — 18 months after Clarkson was sacked from the BBC for punching a Top Gear producer.

The show will make him Britain’s highest paid TV star with a reported £10million salary.

The Grand Tour Scattered A Bunch Of Wrecked Priusus Around The World

The Grand Tour—the new car show hosted by former Top Gear trio Clarkson, Hammond and May that we’re all excited to watch— has placed a bunch of crashed Toyota Priuses throughout the world to advertise the new show, which debuts on Friday. If you’re a Prius fan, and yet you somehow landed on our website (???), you may want to avert your eyes.

If you asked the hosts of The Grand Tour, especially Clarkson, what they thought of the Toyota Prius, they’d probably tell you it is the very antithesis of an enthusiast’s car, and that it’s a little bean-shaped economy car that places all of its emphasis on fuel economy, and none of its emphasis on stuff that matters, like horsepower. And also horsepower.

Plus, as Clarkson likes to point out, the thing isn’t even great for the environment, and people who think they’re saving the world by buying the little hatchback are a bunch of “morons.”

So it makes sense that The Grand Tour is placing wrecked Priuses in England, Germany and the U.S., joking on social media that these displays of Prius Carnage are the only real good uses for the pathetic car. Here’s a white Prius crashed against a pillar box in London:

It’s a great advertising strategy, though I halfway expected them to use a bunch of Reliant Robins for this task. I guess they couldn’t find any that haven’t been rolled over and scrapped.

Man I can’t wait to watch this show.

Amazon only but, if you have Prime, Prime Video is included for free.

It can be watched through either a smart TV (which I don't have, still using a Panasonic plasma which I still like), Xbox (no idea about Playstation), computer, or phone/tablet.

And, even better, the amazing vistas the trio usually visit will be viewable in 4k since they're filming the whole show in 4k. This might spur me to get a new TV sooner than later...

And, even better, if you don't currently have Prime it is $79 for the year through 11:59 ET today only. It is normally $99 (I think, I'd have to look) for a year. Personally, I love having Prime. I get everything I order in 2 days and now it comes with Grand Tour.

The show was excellent! I dare say even better than Top Gear since Grand Tour seems a bit "edgier" and you don't have to worry about the show getting preempted for things like the Olympics or other public TV BS. Only thing I did not like was the new standings board. Go back to the old magnetic one!
