Default 1/6/17: Mass shooting at Fort Lauderdale Airport

Esteban Santiago and was reportedly carrying military identification.

Santiago - reportedly 26 years old and from New Jersey but lived in Alaska for some time -appeared alone in the Terminal 2 baggage claim area wearing a Star Wars shirt.

Witnesses say he appeared to randomly target his victims.

“He had what looked like a 9mm and emptied his entire clip."

Esteban Santiago ID’d as gunman in Fort Lauderdale airport shooting: Report
The gunman in the mass shooting at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport that left five dead and at least eight injured Friday afternoon has reportedly been identified as Esteban Santiago.

Sen. Bill Nelson, speaking on CNN, identified the gunman as Esteban Santiago and said the man was carrying a military ID card. The Florida Democrat said he received a briefing from Transportation Security Administration Administrator Peter Neffenger, who indicated authorities were fairly certain of the man’s name but that they were not sure if the ID card he was carrying was authentic. The gunman was injured and is in custody, Mr. Nelson said.

Ft Lauderdale shooting suspect Esteban Santiago reportedly lived within walking distance of a Mosque in Anchorage, Alaska.

Also, he reportedly walked into an Anchorage, Alaska FBI office and said he was being “forced” to fight for ISIS.

Now, we’re learning he wrote about ISLAM on Jihadi forums.

Lt. Col. Candis Olmstead, a spokeswoman for the Alaska Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, said Santiago was formerly a member of the Alaska Army National Guard. He received a general discharge Aug. 16, 2016, for unsatisfactory performance, Olmstead said.

He started with the Puerto Rico National Guard in 2007

Note the ISIS finger salute and the salafist style of facial hair....

Looks like the same guy to me...

Let's look at what we know...

Family members of the 26-year-old New Jersey-born man identified by law enforcement sources as the Fort Lauderdale Airport shooter had served for years in the National Guard and was recently hospitalized in Alaska after "something got to him."

He received a general discharge from the Alaska Army National Guard on Aug. 16, 2016, for unsatisfactory performance

"He is a regular person, spiritual, a good person" and family members said that there was no PTSD diagnosis or other post-Iraq
    issues
    .

    http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local...lowTwt_NYBrand

Something "Got to him" and he became fixated with Islam. His military performance was way below standards, already, as it is not very easy to get anything less than an honorable discharge ( you really have to be screwing up ). Maybe, that "something" was very close to where he lived? Especially, for someone that family described as "spiritual"?

Ft Lauderdale Shooter, Esteban Santiago Lived Within Walking Distance From Only Mosque in Alaska

The suspect showed up several months ago at the FBI office in Anchorage, law enforcement officials told CNN. He was interviewed and said he was hearing voices in his head, including some telling him to join ISIS
    http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/06/us/for...ent/index.html

Law enforcement sources say in November 2016, Santiago walked into an FBI office in Anchorage and told agents he was being forced to fight for ISIS and was under CIA mind control which was forcing him to watch ISIS videos
    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/shots-fi...rdale-airport/

So... Whatever made him snap and decide to kill innocent people, whether he was crazy, had PTSD ( even though undiagnosed ), was on pharmaceuticals, whatever...

There is no doubt that Islam played a contributing role...

In November he was allegedly 5150’ed by the FBI and had 3 guns taken. Did they give them back or did he buy a new one. He could never pass the background check with a 5150 on his record.

From everything coming out, it sounds like this guy was a nutcase.

Apparently he told the FBI, after he was in custody, he did it because "US intelligence was in his head". And from what it sounds like a number of law enforcement agencies were aware of his mental health issues.

Jihad at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport

Posted on January 6, 2017 by Baron Bodissey

By now you’ve all heard about this afternoon’s shooting at the airport in Ft. Lauderdale. Five people were killed and eight others wounded. The suspect, who is now in custody, is named Esteban Santiago-Ruiz.

At first it looked like this was shaping up to be another “workplace violence” incident. The perp didn’t have a Muslim name. He had been in the military and was stationed in Iraq at one point. He has a history of mental problems. And he allegedly got into an argument on the plane during his trip from Alaska to Florida.

But then this photo emerged, allegedly from his Twitter account, which has now been closed:

Maybe the picture is bogus — who knows? But if it isn’t, Mr. Santiago-Ruiz is definitely a convert to Islam, because he is making the unmistakable and notorious gang sign for the Islamic State: a single index finger pointing upwards, representing tawhid, the oneness of Allah.

There’s also a rumor floating around that he lived within walking distance of the only mosque in Alaska.

This is very much a breaking story, so I’m sure much more will be unfolding in the next few hours. I’m waiting to learn his Muslim name, which is bound to emerge sooner or later.

Here’s a recent report from the local CBS affiliate in Miami:
Police: Suspected Gunman Got Into an Argument During Flight

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) — Federal law enforcement sources said the suspected gunman in a deadly attack at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport got into an argument during his flight from Alaska to Florida.

They’re now investigating whether that’s what set off a shooting rampage that left 5 dead and 8 others wounded.

Esteban Santiago-Ruiz, 26, took a flight from Alaska to Florida Friday with a stop in Minnesota, officials said. Somewhere along the way, he got into an argument.

According to Broward Commissioner Chip LaMarca, Santiago-Ruiz arrived from a flight with a gun that he checked in.
“He claimed his bag and took the gun from baggage and went into the bathroom to load it. Came out shooting people in baggage claim,” LaMarca said.

Passengers are legally allowed to travel with guns and ammunition as long as the firearms are unloaded, secured in a lock box and not brought on board the plane as a carry-on. They must be declared to the airline at check-in.

Earlier reports claimed Santiago-Ruiz came in on a flight from Canada. On the company’s Twitter account, Air Canada confirmed that no one by that name was on their flight.
    […]
Santiago-Ruiz was born to Puerto Rican parents in New Jersey and recently became a father of a baby boy.

    He also had military experience.

His aunt, according to nj.com, said after a tour of duty in Iraq, he “lost his mind” and was hospitalized at one point for mental health issues.

According to the Associated Press, the Pentagon said he went AWOL several times as a specialist during a stint with the Alaska National Guard and was demoted to private first class. He was given a general discharge, which is different from an honorable discharge.

In November 2016, he walked into an FBI office in Anchorage claiming that he was being forced to fight for ISIS and was sent to a psychiatric hospital, officials revealed.

In 2011 or 2012, he was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations for child porn. Three weapons and a computer were seized, but there was not enough evidence to prosecute, according to law enforcement sources.

Santiago also has a record for minor traffic violations and was evicted in 2015 for not paying rent.

BREAKING: Records Suggest #FortLauderdale Shooter #EstebanSantiago Is Puerto Rican Islamic Terrorist & Anime Fan

    Jan 6, 2017 by GotNews 18

Is this Fort Lauderdale Airport shooter Esteban Santiago?

Records suggest the Fort Lauderdale Airport shooter Esteban Santiago is Puerto Rican, a fan of Japanese anime cartoons, and possibly a radical Islamic terrorist.

This is a developing story and there’s a lot to go through, so listen carefully:

Public records database Nexis lists only one “Esteban Santiago” who has lived in Alaska, as was reported on the news thanks to Senator Bill Nelson:

    Screenshot from Nexis.

Santiago was not registered to any political party.

The one Esteban Santiago on Nexis was also born in 1990, confirming news reports that the shooter is 26-years-old.

The same Nexis profile also lists multiple traffic arrests, as was reported by Fox News:

Screenshot of one of multiple traffic arrest records for Esteban Santiago in Alaska, showing he is 26 years old. From Nexis.

Two e-mail addresses are listed as belonging to Santiago, including “Naota33@hotmail.com”:

    Screenshot from Nexis.

Nexis also shows he had a Puerto Rican address, indicating he is of Puerto Rican heritage.

A search of leaked databases using those e-mails returns this image of Esteban Santiago wearing a Middle Eastern keffiyeh around his neck and doing a raised one-fingered common to members of the Islamic State and other Islamic terrorist groups:

In 2007, someone using the username “Naota33”, the same as Santiago’s e-mail, posted on an explosives and weapons forum on a thread about mass-downloading propaganda videos from Islamic terrorists:

“Naota33” comments that “the first link is the only one that works”, indicating he tried to download multiple videos of radical Islamic jihadist propaganda online.

“Naota” seems to be a reference to a Japanese anime cartoon Naota Nandaba.

    UPDATE:
CBS News has posted an image of the shooter that 100% confirms the GotNews & WeSearchr teams first visually identified him correctly nearly an hour ago:

Ft. Lauderdale Fighter Claimed He Was Being 'Forced to Fight for ISIS'

So they sent him to a psychiatric hospital.

    Pamela Geller is reporting
that the Ft. Lauderdale shooter today was previously known to the FBI, and that in November he had walked into an FBI office in Anchorage, Alaska claiming he was being forced to fight for ISIS.

PamelaGeller.com reports that "The Fort Lauderdale gunman was known to FBi for four months prior to this massacre":

Broward Commissioner Chip LaMarca told CBS4 the shooter was a passenger on a Canadian flight with a checked gun. He says the shooter claimed his bag at the baggage claim area then took the gun from his bag before going into a bathroom and loading his weapon. He then reportedly came out of the bathroom and began shooting people in the baggage claim area.

Law Enforcement sources told CBSNews that in Nov. 2016, he walked into an FBI office in Anchorage, AK claiming he was being forced to fight for ISIS but was sent to a psychiatric hospital after Anchorage police were called. In 2011 or 2012, he was investigated for child porn. Three weapons and a computer were seized but there was not enough evidence to prosecute.

Air Canada took to Twitter to deny they had the accused gunman on the flight saying, “We confirm we have no record of a passenger by the name Esteban Santiago, or checked guns, on any of our flights to Fort Lauderdale.”
The alleged shooter and murderer of at least 5 people has been identified as Esteban Santiago Ruiz, 26, of New Jersey.

Sources say he had a concealed weapons permit on him and a minor criminal history.

Geller also notes that "after today’s shooting, ISIS terrorist channels knew Esteban’s name before some news corporations reported it. A U.S. senator gave Esteban’s name out live on MSNBC. It is unclear if ISIS channels spread his name before MSNBC."

Islamic terrorism? Wow, that NEVER happens.

Florida Rep. Smith, Sen. Stewart unveil statewide weapons ban

FL Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith stands with Pulse survivors in Orlando Thursday to unveil a bill proposing a statewide weapons ban. (Bailey Myers, Staff)

Last Updated: Thursday, January 05, 2017, 6:24 PM EST

    ORLANDO --

Flanked by survivors of the Pulse Night Club attack, three freshmen Florida lawmakers announced a bill to ban semi-automatic and assault-style weapons Thursday.

    • Florida lawmakers file statewide weapons ban
    • Bill bans sale, transfer or posession of military-stle weapons, with exceptions
    • Bill faces an uphill battle in firearm friendly Florida Legislature
    • READ THE BILLS: HB 167 | SB 254
    • PULSE ATTACK: Complete Coverage

State Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith, a Democrat representing east Orange County in the 49th Florida House district, said the only way to honor the victims was with action.

“Bold, unapologetic action that will take the mass out of mass shootings,” Smith said Thursday.

The bill was inspired by a similar one in Connecticut, passed in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary attack that claimed the lives of 26 adults and children.

The bill bans the sale, transfer or possession of military-style weapons, defined as:

Any selective-fire firearm capable of fully automatic, semiautomatic or burst fire at the option of the user.

The bill would apply to semiautomatic pistols, shotguns and rifles, defined in the bill by name.

Check out which weapons they are specifically talking about banning: pic.twitter.com/ZbVASZQnDH
    — Bailey Myers (@BaileyMyers_) January 5, 2017

The legislation also prohibits the sale of large capacity magazines and other special features, and restricts the sale or transfer of the weapons.

Those who already own weapons and magazines before the bill's effective date can apply for a certificate of possession from the FDLE.

For Brandon Wolf, a Pulse survivor who lost friends in the attack, the bill is a step in the right direction.

“I heard gunshot after gunshot after gunshot and after seeing the autopsy and their clothes, I know that at least 13 of those gunshots killed my friends," Wolf said. "That’s why I am passionate about this. That’s why we have to do something.”

Although Wolf blames the shooter, he also blames the system for allowing Omar Mateen to walk into a store and buy a semi-automatic weapon.

“[This legislation is] a clear signal that though we can’t just stop hate today, we can certainly stop arming it,” Wolf said.

The bill faces intense opposition in Tallahassee. Florida's legislature has expanded protections for gun owners in recent years, and more bills have been filed to do so. This year's legislative session starts in March.

“It just keeps happening and at what point do we draw the line?" Wolf said. "I'm hoping this is the point we draw the line but if it’s not this time, it will be next time or the time after that.”

State Senators Linda Stewart, D-Orlando and Gary Farmer, D-Hollywood, are also co-sponsoring a version of the bill they hope to pass in the Florida Senate.

I heard reporting of another shooter tweeted by the TSA while it unfolded.

Other news outlets began reporting it as a second shooter based on TSA’s tweet. The Sheriff’s department then put out this tweet.

I'm still willing to stand corrected but over a day later and none of the typical stuff you typically see trickling out when the shooter is an Islamist, like Koran verses or tons of Islamic friends or ISIS images on his Facebook page, has really come out.

From what it looks like this guy was in the military for 9 years and released with a General Discharge for unsatisfactory performance with a fairly low rank of E3 which, is an exceedingly low rank given his time in and deployment. Plus the investigations for kiddie porn. Sure sounds like a case of a Pvt. Pyle to me...

MUCH closer parallels to the 2013 Washington Navy Yard Shooting, right down to the General Discharge from the military and even the mental health issues and claims of mind control influence.

Fort Lauderdale Jihadi Esteban Santiago aka “AASHIQ HAMMAD”: “La ilaha illAllah”,“There is no God but Allah,”

By Pamela Geller - on January 7, 2017

Estaban Sanitago’s aka Aashiq Hammad journey to Islam goes back at least 10 years. His MySpace page is eyeopening. More news the enemedia ignores, censors, scrubs – thanks to Charles Johnson over Got News.

As for mental illness, that is now the default cover for Islam. It was “lone wolf” until the number of ‘lone wolves’ made the narrative ridiculous and absurd. Now Islam is a mental illness.

Suspect chose Florida airport for rampage that killed five:
FBISantiago/Hammad chose Florida airport for rampage that killed five: FBI.

BREAKING: Fort Lauderdale Jihad Esteban Santiago Joined MySpace As “Aashiq Hammad”, Recorded Islamic Music

Fort Lauderdale shooter Esteban Santiago a.k.a. “Aashiq Hammad”.

Fort Lauderdale Airport terrorist Esteban Santiago registered on MySpace under the name “Aashiq Hammad” and recorded Islamic religious music on the site, 3 years before he ever deployed to Iraq as a U.S. soldier, destroying the lying mainstream media’s narrative that he was just a mentally disturbed veteran and that “Islam had nothing to do with it.”

Here’s how we know all that:

A search of public records database Nexis reveals that Puerto Rican Esteban Santiago has a brother named Bryan Santiago and two e-mails registered to his name:

The second e-mail, “Naota33@hotmail.com”, is how GotNews exclusively visually identified Santiago before every mainstream media outlet and discovered he was posting on an explosives/weapons forum about mass-downloading Islamic terrorist propaganda videos in 2007 yesterday.

Today, we discovered the first e-mail, “Naota017@gmail.com”, in the MySpace database that was leaked earlier this year. This is the raw data we found:
    211355052:naota017@gmail.com:aashiqhammad:0x313afa5189c150b7b0f3e6d39e0fa223f88ec42b:

The middle entry “aashiqhammad” can be added to the MySpace URL to discover the profile that was registered to the e-mail address “Naota017@gmail.com”.

Sure enough, Esteban Santiago registered a MySpace account under the name “Aashiq Hammad”:

    Archive here.

“Aashiq Hammad” lists Penuelas, Puerto Rico as his location, just like Esteban Santiago’s records in Nexis.

And take a look at the three songs recorded by “Aashiq Hammad.” The first one is titled “La ilaha illAllah”, which is Arabic for “There is no God but Allah,” and the first half of the Muslim declaration of faith, the Shahadah:

    Archive here.

If the location and e-mail weren’t enough proof, “Aashiq Hammad” also has Bryan Santiago — Esteban’s brother — as a connection:

    Archive here.

The song “La ilaha illAllah” by “aashiq” is indeed just an Arabic recitation of the Muslim declaration of faith “There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger.” We recorded the song and you can download and listen to it for yourself here.

Why is MSM lying to us that #FortLauderdale terrorist #EstebanSantiago isn't Muslim when he was recording this on his MySpace in 2007? pic.twitter.com/GCpt4OrBSh

    — WeSearchr (@wesearchr) January 7, 2017

“Intentional” recitation of the Shahadah is generally considered sufficient to convert to Islam.
Listen to that song. It sure sounds like Esteban Santiago was “intentional” about what he was saying!

    And the best part?

That song was recorded in 2007, 3 years before Esteban Santiago went to Iraq as a U.S. soldier in 2010, destroying the lying mainstream media’s narrative that he was a “mentally disturbed veteran”, although even they admit Santiago went into an FBI office in 2015 and told agents he was being forced to watch ISIS videos by voices in his head (or something).

2007 was also the year that “Naota33” was posting on an explosives/weapons forum about mass-downloading Islamic propaganda videos, as GotNews exclusively revealed yesterday.

Santiago was definitely mentally disturbed, but if he was calling himself “Aashiq Hammad”, recording Islamic religious music online, and downloading Islamic terrorist propaganda all in 200

Gun was given back to Florida shooting suspect last month

    U.S. | Sat Jan 7, 2017 | 9:24pm EST

By Zachary Fagenson | FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA.

Police in Alaska took a handgun from the man accused of killing five people at Fort Lauderdale's airport on Friday, but they returned it to him last month after a medical evaluation found he was not mentally ill, authorities said on Saturday.

Esteban Santiago, a 26-year-old Iraq war veteran, had a history of acting erratically and investigators are probing whether mental illness played a role in the latest U.S. mass shooting. According to court papers, he told agents he planned the attack and bought a one-way ticket to Florida.

Santiago was charged on Saturday in federal court and could potentially face the death penalty if convicted in the case, U.S. prosecutors said.

Marlin Ritzman, special agent in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's office in Anchorage, told a news conference Santiago walked into the office in November and said his mind was being controlled by a U.S. intelligence agency. He was turned over to local police, who took him to a medical facility for a mental evaluation.

"Santiago was having terroristic thoughts and believed he was being influenced by ISIS (the Islamic State militant group,)" Anchorage Police Chief Chris Tolley told the news conference.

A handgun police took from Santiago during the evaluation was returned to him early last month, Tolley told reporters. The police chief said it was not clear if it was the same weapon used on Friday.

Officials in Anchorage said the gun was returned because Santiago had not been adjudicated to be mentally ill.

"As far as I know, this is not somebody that would have been prohibited (from having a gun) based on the information they had," U.S. Attorney Karen Loeffler told the news conference.

Investigators said they have not ruled out terrorism as a motive and that the suspect's recent travel is being reviewed.

Federal prosecutors charged Santiago with carrying out violence at an airport, causing serious bodily injury, using a firearm during a crime of violence and causing death to a person through the use of a firearm, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a statement.

He will appear in court in Fort Lauderdale on Monday.

Five people were killed and six wounded in the rampage, while about three dozen were taken to local hospitals with bruises or broken bones suffered in the chaos as passengers fled the crowded baggage claim area.

    'METHODICAL' SHOOTING

Authorities say Santiago arrived in Ft. Lauderdale on a connecting flight from Alaska and retrieved a Walther 9mm semi-automatic handgun from his checked luggage before loading it in a bathroom and shooting indiscriminately.

According to the criminal complaint, Santiago fired the weapon 10 to 15 times, aiming it at his victims' heads.

"He was described as walking while shooting in a methodical manner," the complaint said.

Witnesses said the gunman, who was wearing a blue "Star Wars" T-shirt, said nothing as he fired and surrendered to police only after running out of ammunition.

The Broward County sheriff has said it took the first deputy about 70 to 80 seconds to contact the suspect after the first shots rang out and that when the deputy confronted him, he dropped the gun and was taken into custody.

Authorities said three of the six victims who suffered gunshot wounds are in intensive care. The others are in good condition. Those killed included a volunteer firefighter in his sixties and a retiree on holiday with her husband.

Santiago served from 2007 to 2016 in the Puerto Rico National Guard and Alaska National Guard, including a deployment to Iraq from 2010 to 2011, according to the Pentagon.

A private first class and combat engineer, he received half a dozen medals before being transferred to the inactive ready reserve in August last year.

An aunt said Santiago returned from his deployment "a different person," MSNBC reported.

Santiago's brother Bryan, who lives in Puerto Rico, told CNN he believed authorities did not do enough to help his mentally ill sibling.

"They had him hospitalized for four days, and then they let him go. How are you going to let someone leave a psychological center after four days when he is saying that he is hearing voices?" Bryan Santiago told CNN.

The attack was the latest in a series of U.S. mass shootings, some inspired by Islamist militants, others carried out by loners or the mentally disturbed.

Last June, Florida was the scene of the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history, when a gunman apparently inspired by Islamic State killed 49 people and wounded 53 at the gay nightclub "Pulse" in Orlando.

Travelers lose 25,000 items after Florida airport rampage

    Published January 08, 2017

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Dan and Janice Kovacs and their two children were passing through airport security when the gunfire erupted. They were shoeless — with wallets, passports and carry-on items chugging along a conveyer belt — when they sprang into the mass of people running to safety.

Now they're among stranded travelers at Fort Lauderdale trying to recover what the airport director says are 25,000 pieces of luggage, cellphones and other belongings separated from their owners during Friday's shooting rampage.

"We have no IDs, we have no passports, no money," Janice, 39, said Saturday afternoon, wearing sandals borrowed from a brother-in-law. "We just had to leave our stuff and run."

"All our stuff is being processed. We might not even get that until Monday. I have an 11-year-old who is freaking out. This has been traumatic for her," she said.

The shooting Friday afternoon, which killed five people and wounded six, also stranded about 12,000 outgoing and incoming travelers, many returning from cruises or arriving ahead of the usual Saturday departures of the massive ships based in the tourism hub's Port Everglades terminal.

Some travelers were kept on planes for more than seven hours while police put the airport on lockdown; others scrambled to protected corners or were hustled out onto the tarmac. The Kovacs, on the way home to Vancouver, British Columbia, after a Caribbean cruise, went out onto that rough surface barefoot.

The Florida Highway Patrol sent computer-equipped buses to the airport Saturday afternoon to issue temporary ID cards to help travelers get out of state and even abroad. "We are doing what we can to help," Sgt. Mark Wysocki said.

Sydney Rivera, a 21-year-old Purdue University student, received a temporary Florida identification card that is nearly identical to the state's driver's license. On Friday, she had been about to board a flight home to Indianapolis in another terminal when people scattered over false fears of a second shooter.

"This will make it a lot easier to get through security," Rivera said as she rushed to finally catch a flight.

Gov. Rick Scott said cruise ship companies were asked to accept travelers with provisional IDs. Once authorities began allowing travelers to depart the airport Friday evening, buses took thousands of them to the cruise terminal.

Airport spokesman Greg Meyer said most bags won't be available until Monday. The airport hired an outside firm to collect discarded bags and sort them by where they were found so they can be identified by their owners. Those with lost luggage were told to call a toll-free number. But there were exceptions as airport officials scrambled to work with individuals.

Jessie Khalastchi, a 21-year-old college student from London, left her carry-on bag and laptop that contained a paper for school when she fled the gunfire. She was reunited with her belongings Saturday afternoon, just in time to catch a flight out of Miami. The Kovacs also received some of their luggage late Saturday but were still waiting for their IDs, cellphones, passports and wallets.

Richard Lanbry, his wife and 15-year-old daughter were about to board a plane home for Montreal when the shooting began. Amid the commotion, he was separated from the other two and frantically searched for them for about an hour.

"I was pushed down, my wife was pushed down too. It was violent ... people screaming, people crying, old and young. It was very scary," said the 61-year-old, who was vacationing in Pompano Beach.

On top of that, they now have no luggage, no keys to their home and no coats or sweaters to wear once they arrive in chilly Montreal, only the T-shirts they we wearing the day before.

Larry and Joy Edwards were about to board their flight home to Columbus, Ohio, after a Caribbean cruise. They ran out the skyway and down stairs onto the tarmac, where they were told to drop their carry-on bags and dash out to the runway. They eventually were taken to a hangar and bused to Port Everglades. That's where they spent most of the night.

"The Red Cross came. They gave us food and blankets and pillows. Everybody did what they could," Joy Edwards said.

At 4:30 a.m., they were bused to a Miami motel. They had come back to the airport in an unsuccessful attempt to retrieve their luggage, which contained their passports, medicine and other essentials.

Larry Edwards, a retired electric lineman, said they won't be able to get home until Monday and pointed to the clothes they had put on Friday morning.

"All we have is this and our smelly selves," he said.

Yup. "Officials" get all clingy in times like this. It's about exertion of power, because, you know, terrorism.

Airport Shooter Converted to Islam, Identified as Aashiq Hammad Years Before Joining Army

    JANUARY 10, 2017

The Ft. Lauderdale Airport shooter is a Muslim convert who years before joining the U.S. Army took on an Islamic name (Aashiq Hammad), downloaded terrorist propaganda and recorded Islamic religious music online, according to public records dug up by the investigative news site of an award-winning, California journalist.

This is pertinent information that the Obama administration apparently wants to keep quiet, bringing up memories of the Benghazi cover up, in which the president and his cohorts knowingly lied to conceal that Islamic terrorists attacked the U.S. Special Mission in Libya.

Information is slowly trickling out that links the Ft. Lauderdale Airport shooter to radical Islam while the official story from authorities is that the gunman is a mentally ill, Hispanic Army veteran named Esteban Santiago that became unhinged after a tour in Iraq.

Only one mainstream media outlet mentions the possibility of Santiago’s “jihadist identity,” burying it in a piece about New York possibly being his initial target. A paragraph deep in the story mentions that investigators recovered Santiago’s computer from a pawn shop and the FBI is examining it to determine whether he created a “jihadist identity for himself using the name Aashiq Hammad…” The reset of the traditional mainstream media coverage promotes the government rhetoric that omits any ties to terrorism even though early on a photo surfaced of Santiago making an ISIS salute while wearing a keffiyeh, a Palestinian Arab scarf.

The public records uncovered in the days after the massacre suggest Santiago (Hammad) is a radical Islamic terrorist that’s seriously committed to Islam. Besides taking on a Muslim name, he recorded three Islamic religious songs, including the Muslim declaration faith (“there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger”) known as the Shahada.

He also posted a thread about downloading propaganda videos from Islamic terrorists on a weapons and explosives forum. The investigative news site that unearthed this disturbing information connected the dots between Santiago, who is of Puerto Rican descent, and Hammad, an identity he created in 2007.

This week a prominent Ft. Lauderdale businessman and longtime resident addressed a letter to the city’s mayor and commissioners blasting county and federal officials for covering up that “Aashiq Hammad, not Esteban Santiago, attacked our city and county.”

The businessman, respected Ft. Lauderdale real estate entrepreneur Jim Morlock, specifically names Broward County’s elected sheriff Scott Israel, Florida senator Bill Nelson, the first to identify Santiago as the shooter on national television, and congressman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, ousted last summer as Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair over a scandalous plot to damage Bernie Sanders during the primary.

“Since when does a US Senator (Bill Nelson), not law enforcement, be the one to so quickly release this terrorist’s Hispanic name but nothing about his more relevant Islamic background?” the letter asks. Obama must have told Sen. Nelson to keep this from looking like a Muslim Terrorist attack during the last 12 days of his watch. Bad for his legacy.” Morlock goes on to state that it’s “better to portray this atrocity as white Hispanic Alaskan mental Iraq war vet gun violence.”

The real estate entrepreneur proceeds to reveal that Santiago lives in walking distance to the only mosque in Alaska, was radicalized before he entered the military and was knowingly allowed to serve despite his Islamic sympathies thanks to “Obama’s PC military.”

The letter poses interesting questions, including why this Muslim terrorist chose Ft. Lauderdale out of all the nation’s airports and who Santiago knows in Broward county, which has a large and growing Islamic community.

In 2015 Judicial Watch obtained records from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) that show and Al Qaeda terrorist who helped plan several U.S. attacks lived in Broward County and graduated from the local community college with a degree in computer engineering. His name is Adnan G. El Shukrijumah, but he also had a Hispanic identity, Javier Robles, and for years he appeared on the FBI’s most wanted list.

Back in 2012 Judicial Watch reported on a terrorist front group’s demands that Broward County public schools close twice a year to celebrate Islamic holy days, illustrating the influence that Muslims have in the region.
