I thought this was a great SotU speech on the heritage and vision of freedom and greatness for the nation. Nice job honoring the WW2 vets and Holocaust survivors as well as the police officer that stopped the synagogue shooting. Good honoring the 10 year old girl. Good for standing up to infanticide. Good for rebuilding the military and pointing out the threat from Russia and China.

On the other hand, the rest of the actual policy discussed...

Nationwide paid family leave? Thanks Ivankna. Wonder where that money is coming from...

The $1.5 trillion in "infrastructure" spending? What's another $1.5 trillion when you're already $21 trillion in the hole? After all, we can't be out of money, the printing presses are still running!

Great nations don't fight endless wars but they also don't retreat from them. If we stop playing World Police, we all know which two countries will step into those power vacuums.

I liked the slams against Socialism. I just wish it would stop being given to us inch by inch. Is that really too much to ask?

MAXINE MELTDOWN! Waters begs Americans to ‘turn the television off’ during Trump SOTU

Maxine Waters doesn’t want to hear what Donald Trump has to say tonight.

The California congresswoman melted down when asked if she would be listening to Trump’s second State of the Union address this evening.

“I don’t even know why he wants to come and give the State of the Union,” Waters huffed to Essence magazine.

“The state of the union under him has not been good,” she claimed, dismissing record low unemployment rates for black Americans and strong economic activity.

“And he has been divisive, and I think he’s putting us all in harm’s way. And so he is not worthy of being listened to,” Waters sneered.

“I don’t know why anybody would want to pay attention to anything that he has to say. He lies over and over again, like I said. 6,000 lies have been documented since he’s been there. I just can’t imagine what he’s going to try and say!” she said.

“But since he is a great liar, he’ll say anything,” and triggered Waters said, “uh, because he’s capable of saying anything without facts, without research. And so, I’m not looking forward to his State of the Union, and I hope people will turn the television off!”

Waters isn’t the only one triggered by Trump.

Last year, Luis Gutierrez, the illegal alien-loving congressman from Illinois, fled the House chamber.

Trump praised the Capitol building, calling it a monument to the American people.

As applause broke out, so did chants of “USA! USA! USA!”

Gutierrez left his seat as several Democrats patted him on the arm as he retreated to a safe space.

POLL STUNNERS: Both CBS and CNN Polls: 76 Percent of Viewers Approve President Trump’s State of the Union Speech; CBS: 72 Percent Approve His Immigration Ideas

CBS News and CNN released instant polls taken immediately after President Trump’s State of the Union address with both polls finding 76 percent of those who watched approved of the speech. The CBS poll 72 percent approved of Trump’s immigration proposals while the CNN poll showed 76 percent approval with 59 percent “very positive.”

UPDATE: CBS provided approval by party ID: Republicans 97%, Democrats 30% and Independents 82%.

Peggy Noonan, a former speech writer for President Reagan and no fan of President Trump, praised his speech tonight, saying, “This has been a deeply adept speech in terms of policy. He cut to the muscle on legal and illegal immigration, on abortion and infanticide, on foreign wars. His vow on socialism will be remembered. Great heroes in the balcony, a real American panoply. 1…And good natured with the white jackets, who I see some on twitter are calling the straight jackets. AOC had a rare bad night, looking not spirited, warm and original as usual but sullen, teenaged and at a loss. 2.”
