Star Trek: Picard SDCC Trailer Released

This looks like it could, and I emphasize could, be really good. Seven is back, Data is apparently back, and the uniforms don't look completely fucked up. The fact that Seven and Data are in it gives them an opportunity to bring in other alumni.

I'm definitely looking forward to this more than I was Discovery. I'm wondering if CBS has seen what a success The Orville is at being more Trek like and they're trying to regain what they've lost to The Orville by going back to Trek's roots instead of retconning everything to death.

I wanted to give this a few episodes to try and get some legs under it but I just watched E04 and my hopes of a real Trek revival are pretty dashed barring a major change like in the video in The Future Of Star Trek thread I started. I really had high hopes for this and so far it has come up extremely lacking. Beyond lacking in fact.

In E04 they've managed to turn the proud and orderly Romulan Star Empire into a race of generic, dirty, disorganized, backwards, dirt living "brown people" refugees in a ham fisted attempt to draw parallels to the refugee bullshit. In fact, it's amazingly astounding how many "ethinc" Romulans there are now! Like 95% of them! It's almost, but not quite, as big a slap in the face as the retconning of the Klingons in STD.

The talk of all the "poverty" in the Romulan refugee camp when they live in a time with nearly limitless free energy and fucking replicators that can make damn near anything out of thin air?!?! Utterly absurd.

I'm at the point where I can't tell which is the larger disappointment. STD for retconning the fuck out of Star Trek canon to the point it's unrecognizable save for Trek-like words sprinkled about or, Picard for bastardizing the very Star Trek and characters I grew up on and loved. I'm astounded this episode was directed by Frakes, and not in a good way as it's so shockingly bad.

CBS, Stewart, Frakes, and everyone associated with this should be ashamed of what they've done with Woke Trek.
