Default Top Ten Stupid Leftist Ideals

    TOP TEN STUPID LEFTIST IDEALS
    New Media Journal ^ | July 13, 2006 | Doug Hagin

David Letterman has made a career of making people laugh. His show has been on TV for far more than a decade now, and, one of America’s favorite parts of that show is Dave’s Top Ten. I must say, I enjoy it as much as the next person does.

In honor of David Letterman’s Top Ten, this column is my own version of a top ten. The top ten list of stupid, inane, asinine, and, loony leftist ideals.

Now in making such a list, in attempting to whittle down to just ten, the most foolish of leftist ideals, I have worked tirelessly and diligently to include only those leftist ideals that not only reach the bottom of the pit of inanity, but those that required extra digging as well.

By the way, as a side note, if any Leftists find themselves offended, put out, aggrieved, or suffering from a bruising of their ever-fragile self-esteem after reading this column, let me say good! The Left is always seeking something to be hurt or upset over anyway, so I consider it a very special honor to help them out in their never-ending pursuit of a pity party!

Now, on with the official Doug Hagin Top Ten List of Stupid, Inane, Asinine, and Loony Leftist Ideals.

"They hate individualism and acknowledging parents as the most important factor in raisin children flies in the face of the left’s fascination with collectivism."

Number ten- Environmentalism. Now concern for the environment is a good thing, as is a healthy appreciation of nature and its matchless beauty and splendor. The left, however, goes far beyond reality in their version of environmentalism. The Left does not stop at reasonable conservation measures, or reasonable regulations on pollution. Instead they would have the United States, one of the environmentally clean nations, submit to the Kyoto Protocol, which would do serious damage to our economy. The reason they would have us wreck the greatest economy in the world? Well to stop global warming of course! This despite the reality that this theory has never been proven to be true.

Number nine- It Takes a Village. Now this jewel of foolishness is the brainchild of the Left’s heroine Hillary Clinton. The simple fact is the left has always and will always think collectively. They hate individualism and acknowledging parents as the most important factor in raisin children flies in the face of the left’s fascination with collectivism. While many people may have wonderful influences in a child’s life, it takes parents, and not some leftist village to raise a child.

Number eight- Children are Incapable of Handling Stress. The left likes to feel that children must be raised and educated in an environment totally insulated from any negativity. A few examples of this include teachers ceasing their use of red ink to correct children’s tests or homework, or the erasing of certain parts of history because teaching it might hurt some child’s feelings.

Children are not so fragile that having spelling mistakes corrected or history that might be painful taught to them. Protecting children from every possible offense will not serve them well. It will instead serve to leave the ill prepared for the reality that life can be unpleasant at times.

Number seven- Competition is Bad. Nothing could be more asinine than the Left’s infatuation with the notion that competition is unhealthy for people. People, by their nature, are competitive. We desire to excel, not to be held back. It is OK to want to win, and nothing will help us, no matter where life leads us, more than having a healthy competitive streak. Yes, competition does mean some people will lose. Losing can teach us to push harder though, and that can create greatness.

Number six- Health Care is a Right. Health care is some civil right everyone has, according to the left. No, actually health care is a personal responsibility. You and I are responsible for our own destinies; it is a part of liberty. Health care is part of that responsibility. The left, again, thinks collectively on this subject. Their ideal is for everyone to pay for everyone else’s health care. Of course, socialized medicine is well below the standard America has, but the left would gladly sacrifice quality for collectivist idealism.

Number five- Wealth is Bad. Again, the collectivist ideology of the left is on display here. It is, to a devoted Leftist unfair that one American has more than another does. Their solution, punish the bad successful folks with heavy taxes and give the money to a wasteful federal government to dole out to those not as successful. This is lunacy of course. Punishing success and redistributing wealth is a recipe for failure of the people and the nation as a whole.

Number four- Racism is Rampant and can only be Solved by Leftist Tolerance. Despite the constant cry, that racism is alive and thriving in America, most folks could not care less about skin color. The left, naturally, sees race relations from the prism of pessimism. Every time any minority loses a job, does not get a promotion, gets a speeding ticket, or stubs a toe, the left is ready to blame racism. The fact is it is the Leftists who are hung up on skin color. Race is not important, to most of us. Well, except for the left of course.

Number three- Abortion. The left, despite all the medical evidence stacked against them, still clings to abortion as some sacrament. In their pursuit to erase personal responsibility, they willingly support the killing of the most innocent of human life, the unborn. Their vile defense of this atrocity only points out how little respect or admiration they hold for human life. To them life is only precious according to the “quality” of it. Of course, they are all too happy to define what “quality” is.

Number two- Guns are Bad. The left hates guns. They hate those who own them. They hate those who defend themselves with guns. Why? Well guns allow individuals to defend themselves, property and rights. The left, again collectivists to the core, want the defense of rights to be handled by government. An individual who owns a gun steps outside the collectivist utopia the left desires so deeply. Gun owners who use their gun to defend themselves are even worse to the left. By their actions, they have illustrated that rights are individual, and can be protected by individuals. That is a direct threat to leftist collectivism.

Number one- Appeasing Evil Ensures Peace. Of all the foolish notion the left subscribes to, this ideal is surely the most inane. The left has, over the course of history, tried to appease Nazis, Stalinists, dictators, and terrorists. They have preached peaceful solutions, refused to accept that violence not only can be the solution but sometimes is the only solution, all the while evil never was appeased. Hundreds of millions have suffered horrible fates, hundreds of millions have died, and the left STILL thinks we can understand evildoers and change them without violence.

Evil exists and must be crushed, defeated and eradicated. There is no understanding it, or reasoning with it, or appeasing it. We will kill it, or it will kill us, it is that simple. In fact, the only thing simpler than this truth is Leftist thinking. Doug Hagin was born in Tampa and now resides in Dallas. He has been writing a column for close to a decade and aspires to one day having a talk radio show of his own.

As evidence, I submit the following article. Environmentalism is included in this, and the Academic Connection for foolish behavior when it comes to forcing people off their land....

    The Academic Connection
    Accuracy in Academia ^ | July 12, 2006 | Malcolm Kline

    Endangered Evidence

Ever wonder how all those animals, plants and bugs get on the Endangered Species List? It’s more than an academic question though that is where the answer has its roots.

When a critter gets on the ESL, nothing can be done to its “habitat,” even if it is just a candidate for the list whose endangerment remains undecided. Proscribed acts include, of course, drilling for oil.

Thus as gas prices soar, no refineries. Oil companies have not built a refinery in the United States in 30 years. That’s almost as long as the ESA has been, effectively, the law of the land.

A good many endangered species, and the candidates that would join them, are in oil-rich states. In fact, there are thousands of species on the ESL.

All it takes to get one on is a senior college or university biology paper. As it happens, one of the few species that came off the list made its exit due to factual errors in the thesis that put the thing on the roster in the first place.

This effort comes on top of a regulatory mountain that is already overwhelming and threatens to increase the federal government’s already heavy hand in private land usage. The federal government itself owns at least a third of America’s 750 million acres.

And heaven help you if you are a private citizen fighting what you perceive to be a wrongful determination under the ESA. Environmental lawyers will tell you that it costs at least $500,000 to defend a client against an environmental charge if he or she is innocent.

    Another Dream
She has at least one other accomplishment—the federal highway she named after herself when she secured funding for it. Residents of her district say that on one of the Cynthia McKinney Parkway exits, the first thing that you see is the “Free at Last Bail Bondsman.” Somehow we doubt that that is the dream Martin Luther King, Jr. was dreaming of.

    Revised History
“Even when his rage subsided, Cromwell apparently did not repent of the atrocity; indeed, he called it ‘a righteous judgment of God upon these barbarous wretches’.” Dr. Moczar, the author of Ten Dates Every Catholic Should Know, teaches History at Northern Virginia Community College.

She is also the author of Don’t Know Much About Catholic History. So how does she compare her research on the pivotal British leader with that of her peers? “Thus Oliver Cromwell, [is] in my view a monster if ever there was one, though he is much praised in history books,” Dr. Moczar concludes.

Catholic Higher Education? The editor of Latin Mass, Father James Lucas, makes some interesting points about the comments we see from church fathers on matters such as birth control and AIDS. “The orchestrated collaborative public drumbeat of allied progressive prelates, theologians and journalists has worked almost flawlessly since the revolt of the Rhine alliance of bishops in the opening days of the Second Vatican Council in October 1962,” he writes. “Even if the progressives fail to effect whatever changes they are pursuing, it softens up the Catholic world for the successful employment of Plan B.”

“In this stratagem, the hierarchy never enforces the traditional teaching, the professorial class teaches the opposite at seminaries and at Catholic universities and colleges, and the journalists write their pieces on how the Catholic priests and laity have parted ways with a hopelessly intransigent Vatican.”

Are Violent, Anti-American Regimes Funding Cynthia McKinney’s Travels Abroad?

Lately, there’s been no shortage of curious commentary coming from former Georgia congresswoman and 2008 Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney.

During her recent exploits to nations that are less-than-friendly to the United States, McKinney has claimed that JFK, Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were assassinated by the U.S. government, she has called Libya a better place to live than the United States (because of its free education) and has generally lamented American governance.

But, as McKinney travels to Iran, Libya and other nations that stand firmly opposed to American interests, one wonders: Who’s funding these expensive expeditions?

Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” decided to tackle this important question, so producer Jesse Watters tracked McKinney and her associates down and asked where the monies were coming from. While she was vague in her explanation, Watters has a theory that may cause some angst: The trips are being paid for by violent, anti-American regimes. Watch a Fox News segment on this situation, below:

Also, watch McKinney’s PressTV appearance back in May. While on her trip to attend an anti-terrorism conference in Iran, she defended the Middle Eastern nation and praised the conference’s push for peace:

Michael R. Bloomberg is mulling over making a bid for The Financial Times Group, which includes the newspaper and a half interest in The Economist, according to The New York Times.
The report said Bloomberg has long admired The Economist and has an affinity for The Financial Times.
In October, Mr. Bloomberg visited the London headquarters of The Financial Times, which is a few blocks away from Bloomberg L.P.’s giant new London complex. The report said when an editor asked if he would buy the paper, Mr. Bloomberg replied, “I buy it every day.”
The report added that he has spoken with friends and aides about the potential benefits and pitfalls of making an acquisition of this sort. Bloomberg has recently taken to citing circulation figures and “penetration” rates for the paper.

UCCS Fashion Police to enforce strict 1970s dress code

    By Jessica Burns
    Published: Monday, April 1, 2013

Non-’70s outfits like the one shown above will be fined.

It may be 2013, but for some on campus, it will always be 1970.

The Fashion Police, officially titled 1970s-era Fashion Enforcement Services, is a new subset of the Department of Public Safety tasked with enforcing a strict 1970s style dress on campus, university officials said in an announcement on the department’s website last week.

University policies require students be notified of changes to the standards of appropriate conduct concerning prohibited actions.

The current UCCS code of conduct includes 21 standards that prohibit acts like stalking, hazing or theft. The newest addition prohibits “wearing any clothing or donning any style not made in, originating from or inspired by the 1970s.”

The new standard went into effect last week.

“Lately, we’ve noticed too many students wearing baggy jeans or sporting buzzed haircuts,” said UCCS Chief of Police Brad McPeak.

“These acts are unfitting for a public institution of higher education, and they project the wrong image of this university.”

McPeak, who replaced Jerry Price as chief of police on April 1, cautioned students to not interpret the goal of the Fashion Police as trying to limit students’ options when it comes to what to wear.

“You have to put this context,” McPeak said. “It’s 2013, but it’s absolutely still acceptable to dress like we’re in the ‘70s. You don’t have to be a hipster to realize that it’s what we want the university to become. It’s classic, and it’s good.”

Asked about any fashion tips for students: “Dress to impress,” McPeak said. “You don’t necessarily need to suit up, but the baggy pants especially can be a turnoff to prospective students looking for a professional, adult academic environment, and their parents may choose to send them somewhere else.”

Several students that were made aware of the change complained, saying that the Fashion Police have written more tickets for bad attire than have given out tickets for all other offenses combined, such as traffic violations, driving under the influence and aggressive behavior.

Others think that the dress code enforcement is justified.

“It’s about time they did something about these students and their horrible outfits,” said Gary Ixampool, a senior geography student.

“I’ve seen way too many outfits that I find personally distasteful – outfits that pose a danger to the image we’re trying to project,” Ixampool said. “Students shouldn’t be allowed to wear whatever they want because others have to see it.”

Asked if the Fashion Police should be forced to wear 1970s clothing too: “No,” Ixampool said. “Even though they’re the ones that made the rules, they should be able to set themselves apart somehow, otherwise no one will know who is meant to enforce the dress code.”

Many think their personal eye for fashion is just as — if not more — valid than the style being proposed by the Public Safety division.

Feshawn Violahtre, a freshman communication student, thinks that it’s insulting that her choice of style isn’t represented in the dress code being enforced by the Fashion Police, noting that she wears popular brands like Firemerge, Reveal It and Brand, Ish.

“Much of their dress code is outdated,” she said. “The clothes, the makeup – I have a right to wear whatever concealer I want, thank you very much. I’m an adult; I can make my own decisions.”
