Willoughby- A 36-year-old Detroit man was arrested Thursday for threatening to "blow up Cleveland," authorities said.
The man was driving a tractor-trailer westbound on Interstate 90 in Lake County when he announced on his CB radio that he was carrying a bomb.
Another trucker who heard the threat called 9-1-1, State Highway Patrol Sgt. Chad Bass said.
Officers and two explosives technicians from multiple jurisdictions responded and pulled the man over in Willoughby about 4:40 p.m., Bass said.
The interstate was closed for more than an hour while police searched the man's truck.
The truck's only cargo was print magazines. The man, whose name was not released, was arrested for inducing panic and unlawful possession or use of a hoax weapon of mass destruction.
He was taken to Lake County Jail, Bass said. The man will be arraigned today in Painesville Municipal Court.
"We don't take something like this lightly," Bass said.
