Default Something getting queued up for Oct. 6?

Apparently there are a large number of "put options" being placed for October 6th on the big market indexes.

I don't know enough about how markets or these types of options work, but at least the poster is concerned about mass market moves potentially indicating upcoming trouble.

Anyone see anything on the radar that might show trouble along these lines?

My completely worthless opinion on the subject is that in a bull market like now, put options are the safe bet. Specially on a friday when people like to move and settle out a week.

So ... you're thinking we'll see this trend for a while -- perhaps on a weekly basis -- as the market seems to be running a touch on the hot side and people are planning for the bear to make a showing?

Whoever is placing those puts expects to be able to spend those reaped financial rewards.

Puts for this Friday would appear to be delimiting the continued rise in the value of the market for the next week and the week beyond that, etc., etc.

Sorta. I expect that while the DOW flirts with an all time high PUTs for Fridays will tend to be higher in volume than on say a Wednesday. If the market was in the tanker, you'd likely see just the opposite.
