Russia To Display New Naval Missile Systems In Greece
Russia's state arms export company, Rosoboronexport, will present an array of weaponry, including new missile systems for the Navy at an upcoming international arms exhibition in Greece, the company said Monday.

The 14th specialized exhibition of conventional weapons systems for national defense on land, sea and air, Defendory International 2006, will be held October 3-7, in the Greek capital, Athens.

Fifteen Russian defense industry companies will exhibit more than 300 models of military equipment in the form of mock-up models, posters, electronic presentations, videos and advertising materials, Rosoboronexport said.

A special segment of the Russian exposition will feature integrated missile systems Club-S for submarines and Club-N for surface ships. These unique systems are designed to destroy submarines, surface vessels and ground installations whose coordinates are known in advance, even if these targets deploy active defenses and electronic countermeasures.

The Club-S submarine launched cruise missile family includes the 3M-54E1 anti-ship missile and the 3M-14E land attack versions, with a flight range of 275km (about 170 miles).

The missile can be launched from standard torpedo tubes from a depth of 35 to 40 meters (130 feet), cruise autonomously along a selected flight trajectory at a speed of 240 m/sec at an altitude of 20 meters (70 feet), and drop to a sea-skimming level of 5 to 10 meters (20 to 30 feet) when approaching the target. The missile is equipped with a 400kg (880 pound) warhead.

In 2005, Russia sold a Project 08773 attack submarine equipped with Club-S missile system to India.
