Just saw on tonight's 11pm news that there was a robbery where the criminals broke into someone's residence to steal their Playstation.

They tied up the owner with the power cord for the Playstation only to realize that they would need the cord to make the Playstation work! So, they were forced to untie him and make a hasty escape.

This one is just for fun. Cute.

    A very polite drunk.

Nasty vice. I once locked up the abc commisioner. He wasn't polite. The judge and mayor were none too pleased either. Oh well. I'm gonna have a "near beer" and forget about it. Not too sure about the judge, but the other two went to the clink.

Be careful and sober folks. Depressing times. Many thugs about. Don't escape or hide by exceeding your limits.

    Very polite policewoman too.

I remember a different phrase- "put your hands on the cadilac, "X0#".

    canto XXV Dante

Dispatcher in hot pursuit "commandeers" hot dog cart

    Comments 1
    August 04, 2011 1:31 PM

    LANCE BENZEL
    THE GAZETTE
Heard the one about the police dispatcher accused of trying to steal a hot dog cart?
She was hot on a bad guy’s trail – at least that’s what 28-year-old Kayla Hogan allegedly claimed when a Colorado Springs hot dog vendor said she tried to drive off in the pickup to which his snack cart was hitched.
“I’m commandeering your truck,” the vendor said he was told. “I’m after someone.”
Hogan, a dispatcher in the Colorado Springs police communications center, was arrested June 26 on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft, after a closing-time fracas outside the Copperhead Road Bar, 3330 N. Academy Blvd. Police say she pinched the hot dog vendor and twice punched a bar bouncer who came to his aid.
Her arrest apparently didn’t make it onto the Police Department’s online blotter, which records notable incidents and arrests.
Hogan, who has two previous convictions for drunk driving, earned a base salary of $48,619 in 2009, the most recent year for which records were immediately available. Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Noblitt hasn’t returned a phone message inquiring about her job status, and city spokeswoman Julie Smith said she would research the issue and get back to The Gazette.
Hogan is the third police employee to be arrested since May.
According to an arrest affidavit, a bar bouncer grew concerned when he noticed Hogan standing in the bar parking lot about 1 a.m.
But when Curtis Lille approached and asked if she needed help, Hogan ignored his questions, “kicked off her high heel shoes” and took off running through the parking lot, police said.
Four minutes later, police say, hot dog vendor Charlie Gast “saw a female wearing no shoes run up to his truck and get into the driver’s seat.”
Hogan pinched Gast and punched Lille during a fracas that broke out as they tried to get her out of the truck, police said.
According to the court document, Hogan lashed out when Gast prevented her from turning the truck’s key, which was left in the ignition: “You’re really aiding and abetting a felon,” she said, according to the arrest affidavit.
Police listed the value of the 2006 GMC pickup at $15,000. The vending trailer hitched to the back is worth approximately $25,000, police said.
Hogan couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. She is due to return to court Aug. 22, for a dispositional hearing on attempted aggravated motor vehicle theft, a Class 4 felony that carries up to 12 years in prison.

Carjacking Foiled as Victim Fights Back

(COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) -- A carjacking attempt in Colorado Springs early Thursday morning was foiled when the victim fought back.

Police said shortly after midnight they received a report of an attempted carjacking on the 4700 block of Villa Circle. The victim told officers he had returned home and while parking in front of his residence he was grabbed by a man who demanded that the victim hand over his vehicle. Police said the victim fought back by hitting the suspect several times until the suspect ran off.

Police, however, are advising residents to be cautious when confronting suspects.

(This resident advises the cops, the criminals better be cautious when confronting ME.....)

Police: Wanted man caught with pants down in Colorado Springs

    by DANIEL J. CHACON daniel.chacon@gazette.com - • Published: May 22, 2013 | 9:25 pm

A public urination call Wednesday led to the arrest of a man wanted in a 13-year-old attempted murder case out of in Los Angeles, Colorado Springs police said.

It started when officers were called to the 3200 block of South Academy Boulevard about 10:15 a.m. on a report of a man urinating outside a business.

Officers found the suspect sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot. When the man gave a fake name, police fingerprinted him.

The prints revealed the man's identity as Miguel Sanchez, 59, who was wanted in Los Angeles on a warrant for attempted murder with a $2 million bail, police said.

"They're willing to extradite on such on a huge bond," police Lt. Dan Lofgren said. "They must have a good case on him."

Lofgren said he didn't know whether Sanchez has been living in Colorado Springs or was just passing through.

In a twist of events, officers later arrested two other men who allegedly tried to steal Sanchez's car, which he had borrowed from a man he met at a church.

The owner of the car told police he loaned Sanchez the car because "the message that Sunday was how to reach out and help others," Lofgren said.

Officers had gone back to the business to check out the car, he said.

"That's when they stumbled into the two, one stealing the stereo and the other breaking the steering column, trying to take the car," Lofgren said. "Apparently those two had no connection whatsoever to Sanchez."

Eric Satterfield, 45, was arrested on suspicion of attempted aggravated motor vehicle theft, and Timothy Stubblefield, 28, was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass. Both men live in Colorado Springs, Lofgren said.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A Minnesota man is in jail because he logged on to Facebook.

Police say 26-year-old Nicholas Wig checked his profile from a home he broke into, and then he didn’t log off. It happened June 19 in South St. Paul.

“World’s dumbest criminal,” the homeowner James Wood said. “I don’t know.”

Wood had come home to find his house ransacked. His credit cards, cash and watch were all gone.

In their place, the thief had left a pair of Nike tennis shoes, jeans and a belt, that were all wet. Wood said it had been raining outside.

“I started to panic,” he said. “But then I noticed he had pulled up his Facebook profile.”

Wood posted to Facebook using Wig’s profile, saying Wig had burglarized his home. He even shared his phone number to see if someone would call with information. Wig texted him later that day.

“I replied you left a few things at my house last night, how can I get them back to you,” Wood said.

Wig agreed to meet with Wood later that night. Wood believes Wig was under the impression he would give him back some of his clothes he had left at his home in exchange for a recycled cell phone Wig had stolen.

Wood, at his friend’s house, left for home. On his way back to his house he saw and recognized Wig, from his Facebook profile, walking on the street. He immediately called police.

“I’ve never seen this before,” Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom said. “It’s a pretty unusual case, might even make the late night television shows in terms of not being too bright.”

Wig was wearing Wood’s watch when he found him. Police arrested him at the scene.

He could face up to 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines if convicted.

Not really a "dumb criminal story", but... one worth reading. It has a happy ending.

this day in crime history: july 10, 1981

On this day in 1981, Ken McElroy was shot while sitting in his truck in Skidmore, MO. McElroy, known to locals as the town bully, had been arrested at least twenty times for charges ranging from rape and arson to burglary and assault. But McElroy had a talent for avoiding punishment for his crimes, dodging conviction in every case.

In 1980, prosecutors were finally able to make a case against McElroy stick: the shooting of Ernest “Bo” Bowenkamp. Bowenkamp, 70, ran the local grocery store and was minister of the town’s Church of Christ. McElroy was charged with attempted murder and was eventually convicted of assault.

McElroy appealed the conviction. His appeal was granted and he was released on bond in 1981. When he returned to Skidmore, McElroy threatened to kill Bowenkamp. He made this threat in the local tavern. While armed with an M-1 Garand rifle.

Some of the townspeople approached the local sheriff in search of a legal solution to the situation. He suggested they set up a neighborhood watch.

On July 10, 1981, McElroy was sitting with his wife in his truck outside a local bar. A crowd gathered and McElroy was shot several times with two different rifles. No one called an ambulance. McElroy died at the scene. With about four dozen witnesses present, no one could identify a shooter.

Police: Man threatens victim, victim hits man in head with crow bar

    Posted 12:03 pm, September 10, 2014, by KFOR-TV & K. Querry and Jesse Wells, Updated at 01:59pm, September 10, 2014

OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City man is facing charges after he allegedly threatened a man and trespassed on his property.

It started last week when someone broke into the victim’s yard and stole a riding lawnmower.

The victim filed a police report on the theft.

Tuesday night, the alleged suspect came to the victim’s house, threatening him to drop the charges or he would be hurt.

Authorities say they received a call from a man, who told police that he had just hit a man in the head with a crowbar.

According to the police affidavit, the victim told 41-year-old Claxton Hymel he was not allowed on his property at all.

On Sept. 9, police say Hymel came to the man’s home and said, “If you don’t drop the charges, something is gonna happen.”

According to the report, Hymel kept “approaching closer and closer and tensing up and flexing like he was about to hit victim.”

That is when the victim grabbed the crow bar and told Hymel to leave.

Hymel allegedly said, “you can’t knock me down, I will get you down and I will whoop your ass.”

The report claims he added, “You’re gonna be gone if you don’t drop the charges.”

At that point, the victim hit Hymel in the head with the crow bar.

He was taken to a hospital to have his ear stitched together.

Hymel was arrested for intimidating a state’s witness and trespassing.

The victim was not arrested for striking Hymel.

    Reminds me of a joke....

There was this little guy sitting in a bar, drinking his beer, minding his own business when all of a sudden this great big dude comes in and—Whack!—knocks him off the bar stool and onto the floor. The big dude says, “That was a karate chop from Korea.”

The little guy thinks “Geez,” but he gets back up on the stool and starts drinking again when all of a sudden—Whack!—the big dude knocks him down again and says, “That was a judo chop from Japan.”

So the little guy has had enough of this. He gets up, brushes himself off and quietly leaves. The little guy is gone for an hour or so when he returned. Without saying a word, he walks up behind the big dude and—Wham!”—knocks the big dude off his stool, knocking him out cold!

The little guy looks at the bartender and says, “When he gets up, tell him that’s a crowbar from Sears.”
