French Police Round Up 9 Terror Suspects
French anti-terrorism police arrested nine suspects in a pre-dawn sweep Wednesday aimed at breaking up a recruiting network for fighters in
Iraq with links to al-Qaida, the Interior Ministry said.

The nine, who all hail from southwestern France, were taken into custody starting with the arrest of two suspects at Orly airport who had just returned from abroad, the ministry said in a statement. It did not say where the others were arrested.

The arrests followed months of intelligence gathering about the suspected network, the ministry said. An investigation was continuing.

Further details were not immediately available.
