Former CIA Director George Tenet: Al Qaeda is in America

Al Qaeda is in the United States, former CIA Director George Tenet says, and he’s surprised there have not been more attacks on American soil.

“I do know one thing in my gut,” Tenet writes in his upcoming book. “Al Qaeda is here and waiting.”



Tenet, who served as CIA chief from 1997 to 2004, questioned how Al Qaeda hasn’t sent “suicide bombers to cause chaos in a half-dozen American shopping malls on any given day.”



Tenet's 549-page book, "At the Center of the Storm," published by HarperCollins, is set to hit the bookstores on Monday. ...more

Feds Raid Alabama Militia Group, Uncover Small Weapons Arsenal

COLLINSVILLE, Ala. — Federal and state agents have uncovered a small arsenal of home-made weapons that included a rocket launcher, 130 hand grenades and 70 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) similiar to the kind used by insurgents against American GIs in Iraq.

Agents also recovered enough live ammo to fill a U-Haul trailer, U.S. Attorney Alice Martin said Thursday. Agents earlier that day busted the caches of a group calling itself "The Free Militia."

Eric Kehn, a spokesman with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive, said four search warrants were executed in the operation, and six arrests were made.

Those arrested include: Raymond Kirk Dillard, a.k.a. Jeff Osborne, 46 of Collinsville, Ala.; Adam Lynn Cunningham, 41, also of Collinsville; Bonnell Hughes, a.k.a. Buster Hughes, 57, of Crossville, Ala.; Michael Wayne Bobo, 30, of Trussville, Ala.; Randall Garrett Cole, 22, of Gadsden, Ala.; and James Ray McElroy, 20, of Collinsville.

All six of the suspects belonged to "The Free Militia," officials said without releasing any information about the group.

"Deadly explosives have been removed from these communities due to outstanding investigative efforts," Martin said. "All evidence developed will be presented quickly to a federal grand jury. We will also ask that those arrested be detained without bond."

At least five bomb teams were on the scene in case explosives were found during the searches.

Officials said ATF agents encountered booby traps at one of the search sites.

The weapons cache also included a machine gun, a short barreled shot-gun, two silencers, numerous other firearms, 2500 rounds of ammunition, explosive components, and commercial fireworks. Agents also found more than 120 marijuana plants, Martin said.

One of the raids took place at a trailer and another at a house not far from Collinsville School.

"Certinly, they're [militias] always fomenting talk ... they were trying to acquire, stockpile weapons for what they see as maybe some inevitable conflict. This is pretty common in militia groups — they sort of gravitate toward all these exotic military weapons," ATF Special Agent in Charge Jim Cavanaugh in Nashville, Tenn., told FOX News on Friday.

But he said it's not common to find the types of improvised rifle grenades found in Thursday's raid. It's a "very unusual seizure," he said.

Those in custody aren't being charged with any plot to use the grenades against anyone, however, but will be charged with weapons possession and stockpiling.

"These are people who operate in sort of a fringe paranoia world, they feel they need all these weapons to exist, they're somewhat fearful," Cavanaugh said.

School district officials cancelled classes for about 650 students from grades kindergarten through 12 because of the swarm of police vehicles.

"We were going to delay school but because of the possibility of explosives at the residences, we felt it was safer not to have school," DeKalb Sheriff Jimmy Harris said.

Sources told FOX News that the six suspects were involved in manufacturing homemade weapons and explosives, and that one of the suspects had tried to sell hand grenades to undercover federal agents. The group has also allegedly been involved in the sales and distribution of other types of explosive devices and weapons, but the nature of these has not yet been revealed.

"Today's arrest and search warrants have been significant due to the success of the combined efforts by ATF, as well as our state, local and federal partners," Cavanaugh said Thursday. "The communities in the area are safer, considering the fact that large quantities of live grenades and other explosive materials have been safely removed. Excellent investigative team work led us to this point in our investigation."

Explosive Device Found at Hancock Airport

TSA agents at Hancock Airport say they discovered an explosive device called a blasting cap inside a passenger’s luggage Saturday morning. It happened during a routine luggage check.

TSA agents, along with Syracuse Police, are not saying where 20-year-old Anthony Montoya, who’s from Nevada, got the device or what he planned on using it for. They do say the device is usually used to detonate commercial explosives.

TSA agents used one of the airport’s new explosive device screening systems to find the blasting cap. It is the first time the new machines have detected an epxlosive.

Montoya is facing criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property charges.
The TSA and Syracuse Police are continuing their investigation into this incident.

Anthony Montoya is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center. He’ll be arraigned in City Court on Sunday morning.

TSA officials plan to take this case to the U.S. Attorney’s office on Monday, so that they can decide whether to prosecute it on a federal level.

Fort Dix Target in Terror Plot

Federal authorities have arrested six New Jersey men for allegedly plotting a terrorist attack against the Fort Dix military base, senior FBI officials have confirmed.

The plot involved storming the base with automatic weapons and attempting to kill as many soldiers and other personnel as possible.

Officials from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Newark and the FBI in Philadelphia were planning a news conference in Camden this afternoon to discuss the case in more detail. A spokeswoman for the FBI in Philadelphia left a message on her voicemail telling callers that no information would be released until then.

One television station said the men were from Albania and the former Yugoslavia but had lived in the U.S. for several years. The suspects had been discussing the plot over the last year, and had gone as far conducting weapons training in the Pocono mountains, the television station reported.


Before settling on Fort Dix the group had scouted several other possible military targets, the station said.

It is not clear how far along the alleged terror plot was, or when investigators first learned about it Investigators said the group of suspects have been discussing and planning for much of the last year. They allegedly pooled their savings to pay for the operation that investigators said targeted soldiers stationed here at home.

Three of the men are brothers, all believed to be islamic radicals. Investigators said most of the suspects have spent several years here in the U.S. Some of the group’s alleged planning was caught on video and audio tape, investigators said.Developing…

I didn't want to step on Sean's toes while posting this article I recently read on the NEIN website; however, there was an item stated within that caught my attention. The content of the information seems roughly in line with what we've seen from this camp in the past making it, in my very limited analytical capacity, somewhat difficult to determine this message from that of a reasonably perpetrated hoax.

The point that punched me right in the nose, however, was the following statement...

* Seattle, the strategic position on the Canadian border in the far west of the United States.

Strategic? Strategic for whom? Sure, Al Qaeda can and probably does recognize some advantage to having an ability to penetrate our borders in the northwest. But with numerous other border options does Seattle truly rank so high as to warrant the use of a nuke when other valuable strategic targets exist? My circuitous point is this: Is it not fairly well known that one strategic option for a highly aggressive move by an Asian attack force on the US mainland would come from the Bering Sea, through Alaska, Western Canada and into the US homeland via Seattle? Maybe I'm drawing a conclusion without proper data; but, it seems strangely incongruous to me.

For those unfamiliar with the name "Raken Ben Williams" or his history in counter-terrorism and media venues, he has been presented as an "al Qaeda undercover soldier" possibly living inside the U.S. or Great Britain. He is also the purported author of an Internet posting called the "Last Warning to American People" that gained media attention in the spring of last year.
According to the London daily Arabic language newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat on November 8, 2005, Raken Ben Williams was introduced by The Global Islamic Media Front. Raken ben Williams is reportedly a "new soldier" in the Islamic war against the West, and is a "white Englishman who converted to Islam."

An extensive analysis of this posting notes that this was most likely written using an English keyboard by an English speaking person. This is clear by the punctuation used in the article. For instance, the colons and semi-colons are on the right when they should be on the left:

Arabic reads right to left in its true form. This posting does not. Additionally, the translation is "too clean," suggesting that someone who either speaks both English and Arabic created and posted this, or they used translation software to transpose from English to Arabic.
Either this is a planted or "seeded" post (noting that we have previously identified self-proclaimed analysts who have been caught doing such things in the past), or it is actually from an English "Raken Ben Williams," or lastly, it is from a good hoax writer.
In any event, this will eventually make its rounds in counter-terrorism venues. It's intelligence value, however, remains under analysis. With the specificity that this particular posting provides, we would be remiss not to publish it - well in advance of it being circulated in the more commonly frequented al Qaeda Arabic language forums.

The Raken Ben Williams post is an embellishment of a post located last week on the AQ "Rakim" forum. He added a lot of words, and moreover, his native language is english; he used an english keyboard; transliterated his english text into arabic, which was then re-transliterated back to english by either automated or human translators - which really makes a mess of his message. But what we put up is probably the best there is for what he actually wrote.

Here is the original Rakim post and specific threats from last week. Compare to Raken ben Williams. Notice the changed order, embellishments and the specific addition of Seattle, WA.

Firstly, I believe the correct incorrect spelling of his name is Rakan Ben Wilyamz.

Rakan Ben Williams added Seattle to the list.

Rakan Ben Williams bills himself as "Al-Qaeda Undercover Soldier, U.S.A"

Since he is a native english speaker, and he added Seattle to the list of targets, my suspicion is that he might live in that region of the country.

Pitch to African-Americans invokes 'martyr' Malcolm X

Al-Qaida is aggressively recruiting black Americans for suicide operations against the homeland, say FBI analysts who have reviewed recent videotaped messages from the terror group's leaders.
A speech released May 5 by Osama bin Laden's deputy confirms earlier fears that African-Americans are the No. 1 recruiting target for the next generation of attacks. Al-Qaida has been trying to lower its Arab profile to reduce the odds that its terror cells will be subjected to security scrutiny.


"Federal and local law enforcement authorities should be aware that al-Qaida terrorists may not appear Arab," warns a recent Homeland Security intelligence report obtained by WND. "Non-Arab al-Qaida operatives could find it easier to avoid unwanted scrutiny since they may not fit typical profiles."


In the latest message, al-Qaida No. 2 Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri clearly seeks to sow political and racial discontent among African-Americans. He makes frequent references to what he calls the "martyr" Malcolm X, and says "I want blacks in America to know that we are waging jihad to lift oppression from all mankind."


Zawahiri encourages African-Americans to follow the example of Malcolm X, a.k.a. al-Hajj Malik al-Shabaaz, who he says was not afraid to sacrifice his life to fight American "oppression."


According to a transcript of the hour-long screed, Zawahiri said this is "the culture which the struggler and martyr Malcom X (may Allah have mercy upon him) fought against when he told his repressed black brothers in America, 'If you're not ready to die for it, take the word "freedom" out of your vocabulary.'"


"Freedom is something that you have to do for yourself," he quotes Malcolm X as as saying. "The price of freedom is death."


Zawahiri, again citing the teachings of Malcolm X, suggests that black Muslims who do not rise up against America are no better than "house slaves."


It's the first time al-Qaida has identified Malcolm X as a fellow Islamic "struggler and martyr," analysts say.


"Zawahiri's focus on race relations may be benefiting from the input of a U.S. citizen named Adam Yahiye Gadahn – a.k.a Azaam al-Amriki – who is a senior member of al-Qaida's media committee," said former CIA analyst Michael Scheuer, now an analyst for the Jamestown Foundation, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank specializing in national security.


"Indeed," he added, "the deftness and political timeliness of Zawahiri's statements suggest that al-Qaida may have more than a single American advising it."


Last year, in another nearly hour-long videotaped speech, al-Qaida propaganda chief Gadahn invited blacks to convert to Islam and take revenge against a nation that enslaved their ancestors.


Gadahn, a white convert from California thought to be operating out of al-Qaida's new base in Pakistan, slammed his native America, which he said "shamelessly brought us lynch laws, Jim Crow, and a death row where only convicts of certain races are sent."


In courting African-Americans, he also encouraged them to forsake Christianity, which he claims whites have used as an excuse to abuse blacks.


"Islam rejects the Judeo-Christian doctrines concerning Eve and Ham, which the West has used to justify all manner of abuse and ill treatment of women and blacks," Gadahn said. "Islam is for everyone."


Gadahn, who is wanted by the FBI for treason, also claims that America "enslaved Africa."


Islamic terrorism analysts point out that al-Qaida's racial history lessons conveniently leave out the fact that Arab Muslim slave traders sold Africans into bondage.


"The Arab is the true master of the African," said Bill Warner, director of the Center for Study of Political Islam. "Blacks like to imagine Islam is their counterweight to white power, not that Islam has ruled them for 1,400 years."


Blacks account for the largest share of Muslims in America. A great many of them are converts to Islam. And remarkably, the religion is flourishing among African-Americans since 9/11. Analysts fear the trend plays right into bin Laden's hands.


Black converts say Islam has more in common with their African heritage than Christianity. In fact, black Muslim leaders often refer to such conversions as "reversions," claiming black "reverts" are merely returning to the Islamic faith prominent among their African forebears who were forced into slavery.


"You have African-American men seeking liberation," explained black Muslim leader Eric Erfan Vickers, "and many see Christianity as a white man's religion that continues to oppress."


Vickers, a convert to Islam, does not consider al-Qaida a terrorism group. "They are involved in a resistance movement," he contended.


Prisons have already proven to be a fertile recruiting ground for al-Qaida, spawning the likes of shoebomber Richard Reid and alleged dirty bomber Jose Padilla.


Christian prison chaplains say Islam is so popular with inmates they are having a hard time competing with Muslim chaplains for their souls. Blacks are being converted by the cell block. The FBI worries blacks could be the next face of terror in America.


Since 9/11, the agency has already disrupted several homegrown terror plots involving black Muslim converts, including:
A group of black Muslim converts in Miami who allegedly conspired to blow up the Sears Tower in Chicago (some had rap sheets).
A Chicago black Muslim, Derrick Shareef, who allegedly plotted to blow up a local shopping mall.
A black U.S. soldier, Hassan Abujihaad, who allegedly fed terrorists classified information about U.S. battleship movements in the Strait of Hormuz.
Black ex-con Muslims in Torrance, Calif., who allegedly planned to attack military recruiting stations and synagogues in the state. The plot was initially hatched in prison.
Still, some analysts doubt al-Qaida's pitch will resonate in today's black community beyond a handful of malcontents. They point out that African-Americans are no longer held back by institutional racism, and are growing wealthier as evidenced by the expanding black middle class.
Indeed, Zawahiri does not paint a very enticing picture in describing the sacrifices required along the path of jihad, especially for those used to the material comforts of America.
"If we continue to aspire to nothing more than diplomas, positions, salaries, pensions and the raising of our children, there will be nothing but humiliation in store for us, our children and our grandchildren," he argued. "If, on the other hand, we are happy with killing, captivity, emigration, losing one's spouse, orphanage, and losing one's wealth, homeland and beloved in the path of Allah, then with Allah's help, no power on the face of the earth can defeat us."
Zawahiri in his latest speech also made fresh threats about coming attacks on America.
He warns that a new "squadron of martyrdom-seekers" is lined up behind "hundreds" of new leaders who are following in the footsteps of captured 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
"They shall achieve more than he achieved," Zawahiri vowed. "The Americans shall pay dearly."
He says American voters had a chance to fire Bush in the last presidential election for invading Iraq, but they chose instead to reelect him. He suggests they forfeited their chance for protection from terrorism, and deserve punishment.
"The Americans deserve what they're getting," he said. "They chose this liar two times, so let them pay the price for their choice."
Gadahn has said "the streets of America shall run red with blood," later singling out Los Angeles as a target of attack.

NEW YORK -- According to NewsChannel4's Jonathan Dienst, sources said federal investigators have made arrests in an alleged terror plot on Kennedy Airport.

Four people have been charged. One is in custody in New York. Three suspects are thought to be overseas.

Sources said one suspect is thought to be a former parliament or government official in Guyana.

Sources said the plot involved a plan to blow up a jet-fuel pipeline at JFK setting off a potential massive explosion.

Law enforcement officials said the plot may involve a former airport worker.

A press conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. this afternoon.

3 Arrests, Including Former JFK Employee, 4th Suspect At Large

NOW: FBI Reveals JFK Terror Plot Details

(CBS) NEW YORK Three men were arrested and one was being sought in connection to a plan to set off explosives in a fuel line that feeds John F. Kennedy International Airport and runs through residential neighborhoods, according to an indictment released Saturday.

U.S. Attorney Roslynn R. Mauskopf called it "one of the most chilling plots imaginable." "We will use every lawful method available to us to make sure the public is safe."

"The devastation that would be caused had this plot succeeded is just unthinkable," she said at a news conference.

Authorities arrested Russell Defreitas, a U.S. citizen native to Guyana and former JFK employee. He was in custody in Brooklyn and was expected to be arraigned Saturday afternoon.

Two other men, Abdul Kadir of Guyana and Kareem Ibrahim of Trinidad, are in custody in Trinidad. A fourth man, Abdel Nur, of Guyana, was still being sought.

All four men have been charged with conspiring to attack the airport, one of the nation's busiest, by blowing up major fuel supply tanks and the pipeline, according to the indictment. The plot involved a pipeline that takes fuel from a facility in Linden, N.J., to the airport.

Kadir, a former member of Parliament in Guyana, was arrested in Trinidad for attempting to secure money for "terrorist operations," according to a Guyanese police commander who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Kadir, a Muslim, left his position in Parliament last year. Muslims make up about 9 percent of the former Dutch and British colony's 770,000 population, mostly from the Sunni sect.

The plot never got past the planning stages. It posed no threat to air safety or the public, the FBI said Saturday.

"This was the ultimate hand-and-glove operation between NYPD and FBI," said U.S. Rep. Peter King, a Republican from Long Island.

The arrests mark the latest in a series of alleged homegrown terrorism plots targeting high-profile American landmarks.

A year ago, seven men were arrested in what officials called the early stages of a plot to blow up the Sears Tower in Chicago and destroy FBI offices and other buildings.

A month later, authorities broke up a plot to bomb underwater New York City train tunnels to flood lower Manhattan.

And six people were arrested a month ago in an alleged plot to unleash a bloody rampage on Fort Dix in New Jersey.

A year ago, seven men were arrested in what officials called the early stages of a plot to blow up the Sears Tower in Chicago and destroy FBI offices and other buildings.

A month later, authorities broke up a plot to bomb underwater New York City train tunnels to flood lower Manhattan.

And six people were arrested a month ago in an alleged plot to unleash a bloody rampage on Fort Dix in New Jersey.

Well, this is some excellent work in stopping terrorists. Yet before I jump up and down with happy thoughts, I have no choice but to wonder what the next terrorist attack plan will be if that is the one that unfortunately some of us will not find out about it through the news reports. No sir, we can't find out about stop every one of these. So then what happens after that? I wonder how many of us are going to hold their tempers.

The Islamic practice of taqiyya, meaning "deception" or "concealment," has been refined into an art-form at a jihad training compound for African American converts near the small town of Red House in Charlotte County, Virginia.
The fifty-acre compound is easy to find since the main road leading to it has been named Sheikh Gilani Lane in honor of the guru and founder of a terrorist organization with close ties to Osama bin Laden. The Board of Supervisors of Charlotte Country are either oblivious to the threat of radical Islam on American soil or clandestine advocates of the great jihad.
At the end Sheikh Gilani Lane is a sign - barely visible through the overgrown brush - that reads, "The Muslims of the Americas." The sign serves to make the place appear as an innocuous religious settlement, until one realizes that The Muslims of the Americas is, in reality, an outgrowth of Jamaat ul-Fuqra, an alleged sister agency to al-Qaeda.
Several weeks before 9/11, a guard house and a gate had been erected at the entrance to the Red House compound.
But the guard house and the gate are now gone, and no sentries - armed or otherwise - are in sight, that is until you get well inside the complex of old trailers and pre-fab shanties. The only person to be seen in the the compound is an African American crone in a full black burqa sans the face cover known as a hijab. The day is hot and humid and the burqa serves to give the wizened old woman the appearance of a wayside witch from a Grimm's fairy tale.
"The men are all gone," the crone says from a park bench. "No one is here."
The Red House compound certainly appears deserted. A few mobile homes, several rusty old trailers, and a few mounds of debris among waist-high weeds remain along an old dirt road that runs through the Islamic village, but there appears to be little of interest, let alone concern.
As soon as the investigators park their car and trek into compound, the old woman removes a mobile phone from a sachet and dials a number.
In a matter of minutes, a pick-up truck appears at the entranceway. Two young African Americans dressed in skull caps and jalabiyahs emerge from the vehicle. "What are you doing here?" they ask.
Jamal, an Egyptian journalist, says in Arabic, "I'm here to see the Imam. Where does he live?"
One of the young men, whose Arabic name translates as "Slave of God", indicates that the Imam is not in and he should knock on the door of a ramshackle blue structure where he was told "Ahmed", one of the Elders may be found.
Jamal proceeds to the structure and rings the bell, but no one answers. Another member of our investigative team knocks at the doors of the trailers and mobile homes but there is no response. Some of the windows to the homes have been holed up with bricks save for openings that are ideal for assault rifles.
The young African Americans, who have shown up on the scene, are becoming agitated. They begin to make calls on their cell phones.
Then something miraculous happens.
At the Imam's residence, Muslim men begin to emerge in droves from a small storage shed attached to the house. It seems like a scene from a Marx Brothers movie in which dozens of people pour out of a closet. The investigators are suddenly surrounded by forty or fifty members of the complex in Islamic gowns and white skullcaps.
"What brings you here?" they ask.
"We heard about the village," Jamal says, "and wanted to pay a visit. I thought I could stop by for evening prayers."
"The evening prayers are over," says one of the newly materialized men, who could be a professional body builder.
In the blink of an eye, another wondrous thing occurs.
Hundreds of more African Americans in Islamic garb materialize from the dense forests, the high grass of the open meadows, and the rusty trailers that just seconds ago appeared to be deserted.
A covey of late model cars and SUV's converge on the compound from a network of dirt roads. The Muslims who emerge from the vehicles appear more affluent than the others. The men wear white halabiyahs with matching head coverings. The women are dressed in colorful caftans and flowing abayas. They seem to be models from the Crescent Moon boutique.
"Are you the police?" a female villager asks through the shaded window of the Imam's residence.
"No," Jamal answers. "We just stopped by to join in prayer."
"This is not a place for tourists," screeches the woman in the Imam's house, "and we don't like you taking pictures of our houses and automobiles."
By this time, the Red House compound is swarming with hundreds of Muslim men, women, and children - and several appear to be deeply agitated by the intruders.
Jamal produces a card from a radical imam he had met the day before at the radical Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church. It serves as a ticket out of the place.
What is taking place in the Red House complex? Is the complex amidst the rolling hills of southern Virginia a peaceful Islamic village where devout Muslims have gathered to retreat from the hustle and bustle of contemporary American life in order to pray, meditate, and to live in strict accordance with the traditions of their faith? Or is it something more sinister - something that should alarm every American who is concerned about the threat of radical Islam?
These factors are clear:
1) There is an underground bunker at the complex that may be used for paramilitary training and possibly to harbor deadly weapons for use in the great jihad against Christians and Jews. Twenty-four members of this Jamaat ul-Fuqra complex already have been arrested for trafficking in illegal firearms, including the ammunition for AK-47s.
2) Members of the compound have been sent to Pakistan and Afghanistan for specialized training in guerilla warfare - a fact confirmed by Thomas P. Gallagher, a Special Agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
3) The Red House compound regularly receives visits from suspicious guests from Egypt, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.
4) The Red House cell of ul-Fuqra has metastasized so that similar Islamic compounds have popped up in neighboring Prince George and Campbell Counties. The 25 acre facility in Prince George County is situated on Mahareen Road, a name selected by the Muslim newcomers and duly approved by the local ordinance officials. Mahareen is the plural of the Arabic mahar, meaning "clever one." The facility in Campbell County is considerably larger, occupying more than 100 acres. An additional compound reportedly has materialized in Bedford County near the city of Roanoke.
5) Several Virginia compounds appear to possess obstacle courses, and firing ranges.
6) Members of the compounds have been known to refer to themselves as "soldiers of Allah" and "Mohammad's commandos."
7) What happens in the Red House compound stays in the Red House compound. The members of the radical Islamic community rarely appear in the nearby town; conduct little business with local merchants; and stay to themselves.
The Muslims of the Americas, the tax-exempt corporation which owns and operates the Red House compound, was formed in 1980 by Pakistani cleric Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani. It is, according to an official report, a "front organization" for terrorist activities. A 2005 Homeland Security report predicts that the Muslims of the Americas will sponsor a major terrorist attack on American soil.
The parent organization of The Muslims of the Americas is Jamaat ul-Fuqra or "community of the impoverished" which retains headquarters in Lahore, Pakistan. The purpose of Jamaat ul-Fuqra, as established by Sheikh Gilani, is not to serve some beneficent good for the cause of the impoverished but rather to "purify" Islam through violence.
A quack practitioner of something called "Quranic psychiatry, Sheikh Gilani refers to himself as "the sixth Sultan ul Faqr." The Sheikh claims to have supernatural powers and to receive regular visits from "non-human beings." In 1979, Gilani came to believe that he could begin the processing of purifying Islam through violence with the aid of socially disgruntled and economically disenfranchised blacks within the inner cities of New York and New Jersey. The basis of this belief was Gilani conviction that a sizeable number of African Americans fostered an innate hatred of the United States and could be easily convinced to further the cause of global jihad. Many may have viewed Gilano's mission as a cockamamie scheme that smacked of racism, but it worked like a hypnotic charm from Scheherazade.
At the al-Farouq mosque in Brooklyn, a dingy establishment at 554 Atlantic Avenue, Gilani, sporting ammunition belts, spoke of Islam as the cure for all societal ills and called upon the young men in attendance to take up arms in the holy war against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. Hundreds answered the call and headed off to a training camp in Abbotabad, Pakistan that had been established by Osama bin Laden and other members of the mujahadeen.
Knowing the need for new recruits, Gilani turned to the penal system and focused his attention on converting incarcerated blacks to his radical Islamic doctrine. Imams and religious instructors were dispatched to local, state, and federal prison facilities to accomplish this objective. The results were mind-boggling. Thousands converted on a weekly basis, drawn to the offers of protection, special meals, and release from work detail for daily prayers and the entire month of Ramadan.
Gilani soon came to the realization that it would be financially advantageous to train new recruits for the holy war on American soil rather than to pay the freight of sending them to Pakistan, and the sites of his other training camps throughout the world. And so, Islamberg in Hancock, New York came into being. Soon other hamaats were established in such places as Hyattsville, Maryland; Falls Church, Virginia; Macon, Georgia; York, South Carolina; Dover, Tennessee; Buena Vista, Colorado; Talihina, Oklahoma; Tulane Country, California; Commerce, California; and Onalaska, Washington. The Red House compound cropped up in 1993. Others are under construction, including an expansive facility in Sherman, Pennsylvania. How many hamaats are now in place throughout the United States is anyone's guess. A low-ball figure is 38.
Before becoming a citizen of the Red House compound or any of the other Fuqra communities, the recruits - primarily inner city black men who became converts in prison - are compelled to sign an oath that reads: "I shall always hear and obey, and whenever given the command, I shall readily fight for Allah's sake." They are also obliged to contribute 70% of their welfare checks and other sources of income to Muslims of the Americas, Inc.
Mission accomplished among the African Americans, Sheikh Gilani returned to his native Lahore circa 1990. In December 1993, he was an honored guest at an international gathering of jihadis at the residence of Hassan al-Turabi in Khartoum. At the gathering, attended by members of al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Popular and Democratic Fronts for the Liberation of Palestine, Sheikh Gilani, Osama bin Laden, and other prominent terrorist leaders were caught on film chanting, "Down, down with the USA!" "Down, down with the CIA," and "Death to the Jews."
Over the years, numerous members of Jamaat ul-Fuqra have been convicted in US courts of such crimes as conspiracy to commit murder, firebombing, gun smuggling, and workers' compensation fraud. Others remain leading suspects in criminal cases throughout the country, including ten unsolved assassinations and seventeen fire-bombings between 1979 and 1990. Associates of the group were also instrumental in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.
The criminal charges against the group and the criminal convictions are not things of the past. In 2001, a 19 year-old former resident of the Red House compound a California compound was charged with the first-degree murder in the shooting of a sheriff's deputy in California. By 2004 federal investigators uncovered evidence that linked both the DC "sniper killer" John Allen Muhammed and "Shoe Bomber" Richard Reid to the group and reports surfaced that Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was captured and beheaded in the process of attempting to obtain an interview with Sheikh Gilani in Pakistan.
Even though Jamaat ul-Fuqra has been involved in bloody bombings and sundry criminal activities, recruited thousands of members from federal and state penal systems, and appears to be operating paramilitary facilities for militant Muslims, the terror organization remains to be placed on the official US Terror Watch List, and The Muslims of the Americas continue to operate, flourish, and expand as a legitimate nonprofit, tax-deductible charity.
Meanwhile, the hills of rural Virginia are alive with the sound of jihad.
But few, it seems, are listening.

FBI Feared JFK Plotters Linked to Top Terrorist

FBI agents feared but never confirmed the three men accused of plotting to attack John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York were linked to one of the most wanted al Qaeda leaders, Adnan Shukrijumah, known to have operated out of Guyana and Trinidad.

Officials tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com that they heard repeated references to "Adnan" during the extensive wiretaps conducted on the suspects' telephone conversations, including calls to Guyana and Trinidad.

There is a $5 million reward for information on Shukrijumah, who officials consider extremely dangerous because of the years he spent living in the Miami area and his known ties to al Qaeda. Some of the 9/ll hijackers attended a south Florida mosque run by Shukrijumah's now deceased father.

Shukrijumah left the United States just a few months before September 2001.

A FBI spokesperson in Miami said the squad assigned to track Shukrijumah was aware of the case but that "no connection" to the wanted al Qaeda suspect was found in the JFK case.

The spokesperson said the best available information is that Shukrijumah is with top al Qaeda leaders along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Authorities in New York today announced arrests in the ongoing counterterror investigation of a plot to blow up the jet fuel pipeline that runs through JFK Airport, officials said.

The plot, authorities stress, was not at an operational stage, and the plotters, who included a former airport employee, had no ability to execute it.

The investigation, which appears to have been ongoing for at least two years, was brought to a conclusion when one suspect was about to leave jurisdictions where U.S. authorities had the ability to monitor his activities.

Sources said the plotters had "indirect" links to overseas terror elements, and the plot had links to Guyana, Trinidad and possibly Germany.

In their own report the truth of the matter is found, yet it had no bearing on the sensationalistic nonsense they wished to peddle on the public-at-large:

Indeed. Thinking caps need to be worn when digesting anything the so-called main-stream-media will write about this case, particularly the linking of Adnan el-Shukrijumah to this case.

I mean, really, did either of these ABC news buffoons bother to consider for one microsecond the need to place themselves in Adnan el-Shukrijumah's shoes??? To get inside of his head???

Let's do that, shall we... You are now going to think Adnan's thoughts as he would think them...

Abdelaziz Bilal HAMZE: Profiling a Potential Islamic Terrorist

To my mind there is much more to the story which broke just yesterday of the vehicular homicide/murder in the first degree of Sandra Hall, 44, of Ft. Lauderdale by Abdelaziz Bilal HAMZE, a 24-year old naturalized American citizen from Lebanon. There is enough here that my gut instinct is telling me there may be significant Islamic terrorist connections, and this man, his immediate family and associates need to be investigated and profiled extensively.

Here’s the story as I have discovered it through intensive research over the past 12 hours. On Sunday night at about 10 PM, Abdelaziz Bilal HAMZE, a naturalized US citizen from the Middle East (Lebanon) rear-ends a Cadillac driven by Michael Williams with his white Dodge Caravan. Williams was in the process of pulling over to investigate a possible broken headlight when struck by HAMZE near Riverland Road on Route 441 while northbound in Ft. Lauderdale. Williams proceeds to follow HAMZE as he flees the scene of the fender-bender accident. The ensuing chase winds through at least one residential neighborhood before returning to Route 441 northbound. It is here, at a stoplight in heavy evening traffic, that Williams approaches HAMZE’s vehicle, he is joined by his fiancee and passenger, an incensed Sandra Hall. HAMZE begins to flee again, but this time Hall latches onto the hood of the Dodge Caravan and refuses to let go even as Williams unable to pull her off. HAMZE then accelerat es to a reported 70 MPH as Williams sprints after the vehicle on foot for the next two miles. Sandra Hall looses her grip during this segment of the incident and falls under the Caravan, becoming wedged under the vehicle chassis and is dragged for most of the next two miles. Her lifeless, horrifically wounded body deposited by HAMZE’s vehicle in the middle of RT 441.

How does a routine fender-bender accident become a chase which then becomes a vehicular homicide of first degree murder? What significant impetus did Abdelaziz Bilal HAMZE have to avoid a simple police report?
Sandra Hall had her own share of serious run-ins with law enforcement, but had turned her life around and has plans to marry Michael Williams in August. For his part HAMZE had several motor vehicle violations in the past year: unsafe vehicle, driving without insurance, failure to properly display the Florida license plate, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and speeding. None of this appears to warrant fleeing the scene of an accident and vehicular homicide. In fact, between 10pm Sunday night and early Monday morning HAMZE has decided he needs to get out of the United States immediately. So he books a seat on Delta Air Lines Flight 88, Ft. Lauderdale to New York JFK. He barely has time to make a connecting flight, Delta Air Lines Flight 132 from JFK to Athens, Greece. Athens is a hub for connections to his native land of Lebanon – where civil strife and war reign in perpetuity. That land he deems preferable to yet another motor vehicle ticket from the Broward Sherriff’s O ffice in Florida, USA. So HAMZE, in his panicked flight, passes through international flight screening at New York JFK unscathed. Well, almost, but not quite.

At 4:20 PM Monday afternoon Abselaziz Bilal HAMZE was pulled by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers from Delta Air Lines Flight 132 bound for Athens, Greece. The JFK ICE team had been tipped off by Ft. Lauderdale airport ICE who were notified by the Broward Sherriff’s Office that the man that HAMZE had purchased the Dodge Caravan murder weapon from stated he was attempting to flee the country. For a still unknown reason, having just committed cold-blooded murder and purchased his tickets out of the country, HAMZE had decided it was another imperative to call this individual.

Some other interesting details now seem pertinent. HAMZE has two brothers and two sisters living in the U.S., one of them in New York. A brother, Abdul HAMZE, lives very nearby in Coral Springs, FL. He stated yesterday he knew nothing of the hit and run or of his brothers arrest. The South Florida media had been in extensive coverage on the news of this murder. At this residence yesterday afternoon were six vehicles: two white minivans, a teal minivan, a teal SUV and two sedans. No response from inside the residence. Earlier Abdul had stated his brother worked at a flea market, but that he did not know where he lived in the area. Yet this same residence is about two miles from where Sandra Hall’s brutalized corpse was dumped in the middle of a highway. HAMZE had been fleeing northbound, in the general direction of his brother Abduls home in Coral Springs. Somehow, that bloody and human flesh soaked vehicle made it back the HAMZE’s residence in Dania. The two residences ar e 15 miles or so as the crow flies from each other.

To recap: A simple Florida fender-bender turns into intentional vehicular homicide and an intended international flight from justice?

A Muslim Middle Eastern man is scrambling through the airport to board an international oceanic flight out of New York JFK, passes through international flight screening and there's no red flags are raised until a sequence of events and phone calls begun by the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Flordia result in the apprehension of this perp at the literal last possible moment?

Since Abdelziz Bilal HAMZE booked this flight at the last possible minute, I also ran a check for a last minute booking from Delta Air Lines for the same flight tomorrow. Coach Class Ticket Price: $2,357.20. Not bad for a guy working in a flea market on a spur of the moment need to get out of the USA. Did he purchase this ticket, or did someone aid and abet his flight?

HAMZE was in such a rush to get out of America that he did not realize that Delta Air Lines Flight 138 departs Atlanta, Georgia at 4:50 PM daily to Athens, Greece. $2,466.00 for a round trip coach class ticket. Just about the same time of departure and not as far or the ticket price of going to New York. Apparently HAMZE judged a requirement that he just had to depart the U.S. from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The investigation continues and details will be added as developed.
