I am curious how many board members drive 55 mph in order to cut gasoline consumption. I recall during the gas shortage years in the early 70's when the speed limit on I-70 was reduced to 55, because it would save gasoline and lower insurance rates. Guess that didn't work out too well.
I recall how slow 55 seemed, and how fast 70 seemed when it switched back. My question is why was it switched back to 70?
From my point of view driving 55 does increase my gas mileage, hasn't lowered my insurance rates however.
Along the same lines I wonder why the Federal Government hasn't gone into the refinery business as a way to become energy undependent. My thinking in this is if the American Public was given the choice of Government produceded gasoline, with all profits returning to the Treasury, or buying gasoline to support private industry I feel a large percent would chose government gas. It is obvious to me that we will always have to use infernal combustion engines until a new power source is economicly feasible.
Why profit cents on the dollar in taxes when you could have all the profit?
