    Question Stand down day?

    http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/20...nddown_070807/

I hope this link works. Can anyone explain if this is SOP for Air Force? I have read and reread the article but can't understand why the Air Force would publish stand down day in advance. Is safety day a normal procedure?

Not really SOP to announce it world wide. However, if there are accidents usually there are times when everything stops, reevaulations occur and people are examined as to their competency.

Most likely this is what is happening.

But, yeah, there are always monthly "safety days". They just aren't across the whole Air Force, usually a unit-wide thing, or base-wide thing.
