David Cameron is proposing a voluntary "citizen service" programme for 16-year-olds, which he sees as a 21st Century version of National Service.

The Tory leader said school leavers and those going to college should take part in a six-week programme, including charity work and physical training.

He said it would boost participants' pride in themselves and in Britain.

But Cabinet Office Minister Ed Miliband said the Tory proposals were "neither costed nor funded".

Mr Cameron unveiled his plans for a modern equivalent of national service - which would not be compulsory - during a visit to Bolton, alongside British boxer Amir Khan.

'Transitional age'
He said he had initially favoured a compulsory scheme, but had been persuaded against that and to make it "universal" instead by the voluntary sector.

However, he said he would consider it a failure if all 16-year-olds did not eventually take part.

"I'm absolutely determined to make this work. In my view this is something so important for the future of our society ... we can't afford not to make it work," he said.

Mr Cameron said 16 was the right age to take part, when "people are thinking about that transition from youth to adulthood".

Earlier he told the BBC youngsters from all backgrounds - "north or south, rich or poor, black or white" would take part together and it should be "challenging and exciting".

The programme was aimed at taking youngsters out of their "comfort zones", whether they wanted to go on to further education or straight to work, he added.

Physical challenge
The course would include one week's residential course, four weeks of community service and a week's physical challenge - like Army training or mountain climbing.

It could include work with the elderly or travelling to developing countries.

Mr Cameron suggested participants would be eligible for a cash sum on completion of their service, with half going to a charity of their choice and half to the organisation which ran the project.

He said the cost of the scheme had not yet been worked out, but it would ultimately save money by cutting crime and anti-social behaviour.

Labour is in favour of more recognition of, and a greater role for, the voluntary sector and Gordon Brown has proposed a day to celebrate the British national identity.

Downing Street also said Mr Brown had launched a scheme to encourage teenagers to volunteer, called V, in May 2006.

Asked about the proposal, Mr Brown said:

"I think the important thing is that all parties agree that young people get opportunities, young people get the chance to do community service. Our V programme is already doing that."

But he said it was "only part of the issue" and must be undertaken alongside school discipline and leadership.

Mr Miliband said: "Residential opportunities are important for young people but the problem with David Cameron's proposals is that they are neither costed nor funded.

"All the evidence is that this would be hugely expensive and he hasn't a clue how he will pay for it."

Obama to use executive orders for immediate impact

WASHINGTON (AP) - President-elect Obama plans to use his executive powers to make an immediate impact when he takes office, perhaps reversing Bush administration policies on stem cell research and domestic drilling for oil and natural gas.

John Podesta, Obama's transition chief, said Sunday Obama is reviewing President Bush's executive orders on those issues and others as he works to undo policies enacted during eight years of Republican rule. He said the president can use such orders to move quickly on his own.

"There's a lot that the president can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action, and I think we'll see the president do that," Podesta said. "I think that he feels like he has a real mandate for change. We need to get off the course that the Bush administration has set."

Podesta also said Obama is working to build a diverse Cabinet. That includes reaching out to Republicans and independents - part of the broad coalition that supported Obama during the race against Republican John McCain. Defense Secretary Robert Gates has been mentioned as a possible holdover.

Obama was elected on a promise of change, but the nature of the job makes it difficult for presidents to do much that has an immediate impact on the lives of average people. Congress plans to take up a second economic aid plan before year's end - an effort Obama supports. But it could be months or longer before taxpayers see the effect.

Obama could use his executive powers to at least signal that Washington is changing.

"Obama's advantage of course is he'll have the House and the Senate working with him, and that makes it easier," said Carl Tobias, a law professor at the University of Richmond. "But even then, having an immediate impact is very difficult to do because the machinery of government doesn't move that quickly."

Presidents long have used executive orders to impose policy and set priorities. One of Bush's first acts was to reinstate full abortion restrictions on U.S. overseas aid. The restrictions were first ordered by President Reagan and the first President Bush followed suit. President Clinton lifted them soon after he occupied the Oval Office and it wouldn't be surprising if Obama did the same.

Bush used his executive power to limit federal spending on embryonic stem cell research, a position championed by opponents of abortion rights who argue that destroying embryos is akin to killing a fetus. Obama has supported the research in an effort to find cures for diseases such as Alzheimer's. Many moderate Republicans also support the research, giving it the stamp of bipartisanship.

On drilling, the federal Bureau of Land Management is opening about 360,000 acres of public land in Utah to oil and gas drilling. Bush administration officials argue that the drilling will not harm sensitive areas; environmentalists oppose it.
"They want to have oil and gas drilling in some of the most sensitive, fragile lands in Utah," Podesta said. "I think that's a mistake."
Two top House Republicans said there is a willingness to try to work with Obama to get things done. But they said to expect Republicans to serve as a check against the power held by Obama and Democratic leaders in Congress.

Pence, of Indiana, is expected to take over the No. 3 leadership post among House Republicans.

In other transition matters, Obama's new chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, would not say whether Obama would return to the Senate for votes during the postelection session this month. Obama's presence would be extraordinary, given his position as president-elect, especially if Congress takes up a much-anticipated economic stimulus plan.

"I think that the basic approach has been he's going to be here in Chicago, setting up his economic, not only his economic team, but the policies he wants to outline for the country as soon as he gets sworn in, so we hit the ground running," Emanuel said.
Also, Emanuel would not commit to a Democratic proposal to help the auto industry with some of the $700 billion approved by Congress to for the financial bailout.

Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said in a letter Saturday to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson that the administration should consider expanding the bailout to include car companies. Podesta appeared on "Fox News Sunday," as did Pence, and CNN's "Late Edition," where Reid also was interviewed. Emanuel spoke on ABC's "This Week" and CBS'"Face the Nation."

Obama’s American Dream: Servitude

“When you choose to serve — whether it’s your nation, your community or simply your neighborhood — you are connected to that fundamental American ideal that we want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not just for ourselves, but for all Americans. That’s why it’s called the American dream,” declares Obama on the newly fashioned Office of the President-Elect website.

	Charlie Rangle has authored a bill that may be dusted off after Obama enters the Oval Office. It’s called the National Service Act and calls for a universal draft with two years of “service” for virtually all persons aged 18-42, with no deferment for college.

Obama’s vision of the American dream, however, will not consist of Americans freely choosing to volunteer to work in their communities and neighborhoods. It will be a requirement. “Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year.” (Emphasis added.)

And it will not simply be the young who will be “called” by government mandate to serve. It will be everybody, including senior citizens. “Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.” The words “call” and “require” appear to be interchangeable in this context.

As the Albuquerque Examiner mentioned yesterday, Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, wants compulsory service imposed on eighteen and twenty-five year old Americans. “They’ll be asked to report for three months of basic civil defense training in their state or community,” writes Emanuel in his book, The Plan: Big Ideas for America. “These young people will be available to address their communities’ most pressing needs.”

It now appears Emanuel’s version of mandatory servitude, masquerading as patriotism, will not be limited to the young but will be imposed on all Americans, including retirees.

In July, Obama revealed his plan for “a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as the U.S. military. In the speech, Obama said “People of all ages, stations, and skills will be asked to serve.” He also said this mass movement requiring servitude “will be a central cause of my presidency.”

In the months ahead, we can expect “public service,” i.e., compulsory servitude, to be a mantelpiece of the Obama regime. It will be necessary because Obama will undoubtedly soon have no shortage of enemies — that is to say, people opposed to his policies — and a national Stasi framework, under the rubric of a “civilian national security force,” will be required to ferret out enemies of the state. In addition, “carbon criminals” will need to be identified and rounded up and shipped off to re-education and forced labor camps.

Considering the emotional zeal of Obama’s kool aid drinkers — frighteningly on display as Obama swept the election — there will likely to be no shortage of recruits to enthusiastically enforce his decrees, actually decrees passed down by the globalist New World Order.
In a historical sense, this is fascism on steroids.

Addendum
Obama’s crew have reworded the text on the “America Serves” area of the Change-gov website. The word “require” has been removed, probably as a result of criticism, and other passages have been rewritten. Does this mean they no longer believe you should be a slave on an Obama work brigade?

Hardly. Joe Biden has said “rich” people making over $250,000 need to work more for the state, not directly but by surrendering an even larger share of their personal income through confiscatory taxes, thus revealing a disturbing mentality: the state owns you. It’s patriotic to be a slave.

Georgia congressman warns of Obama dictatorship

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship.

"It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism."

Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.

"That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist."

Obama's comments about a national security force came during a speech in Colorado about building a new civil service corps. Among other things, he called for expanding the nation's foreign service and doubling the size of the Peace Corps "to renew our diplomacy."

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," Obama said in July. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Broun said he also believes Obama likely will move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national police force.

Obama has said he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and favors "common sense" gun laws. Gun rights advocates interpret that as meaning he'll at least enact curbs on ownership of assault weapons and concealed weapons. As an Illinois state lawmaker, Obama supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons and tighter restrictions on firearms generally.

"We can't be lulled into complacency," Broun said. "You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I'm not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I'm saying is there is the potential."

Obama's transition office did not respond immediately to Broun's remarks.

Georgia Rep. Paul Broun formally apologized to his constituents for comments he made concerning Barack Obama's proposed civilian security force. Broun compared it to those of a Marxist dictator.

I read through Broun's comments carefully. Broun related the historical facts concerning the use of internal security services by both the Nazis and the Soviets pretty accurately.

Where he got into hot water was when mentioned Hitler and Obama in the same sentence: "That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist."

Broun was immediately denounced as a "far right nut job" by the ever-tolerant left with editorials calling for everything from his impeachment to his commitment to a mental hospital. (Sounds like he inadvertently discovered another similarity to the political climate of past dictatorships.)

I went back and read what Obama said last July: "We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Maybe Broun is a far right nut job and all that, but the fact is, both Hitler and Stalin organized para-military security forces loyal only to them – and immediately denounced any who dared criticize the plan. I don't know what Obama has in mind in the U.S., but a para-military civilian force as powerful, as strong and as well-funded as a nation's military is what they used, too.

When Obama mentioned it on the campaign trail, I thought maybe it was some kind of "red meat" being tossed to a far-left liberal audience to grab a few votes, not a formal policy. Then I read WorldNetDaily's report regarding Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel's interview outlining the vision.

(Obama's website says his civilian force will "require" middle school students to participate. Whether Broun is nuts or not, Hitler also required middle school students to join his student army, known as the Hitler Youth.)

"If you're worried about, are you going to have to do 50 jumping jacks, the answer is yes," Emanuel told the interviewer, a reporter who was podcasting for the New York Daily News at the time. "Somewhere between the age of 18 to 25 you will do three months of training. You can do it at some point in your college time," Emanuel said in the interview.

"There can be nothing wrong with all Americans having a joint, similar experience of what we call civil defense training or civil service," Rahm continued. "There will be a body of citizens who are ready, capable and trained."

Ready, capable and trained. ... Broun found some disturbing historical similarities here? REALLY! And he said them out loud! He must be punished! Even if he apologized. That's not enough!

Nope. I don't see any historical similarities developing. Clearly, Rep. Broun has slipped a couple of cogs ...

Our Future Is In Mortal Danger

I’m A Student of History: A Change of Historic Proportions is Happening



Except It Will Not Be The Change You Were Promised or Expecting.

I am a student of history. Professionally. I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied it all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.

Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it.

Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.

We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back?

Why?

We learn just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has “loaned” two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the 700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of “we the people,” who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy.

Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity.

Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?).



We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is medicare and our entire government, our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about)–the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders?



No?

Oh of course.

The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more imporant.)

Mr. Obama’s winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change.

Why?

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.

This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning.

And I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his “brown shirts” would bully them into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office, a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy.



The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.

He did it with a compliant media–did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and . . . change. And the people surely got what they voted for.

(Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)

Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.

Don’t forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years–a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency–it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me.

Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe–and why I believe it.

I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am.

Michelle Obama has sent out e-mails urging Americans to take part in community service in honor of the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr on January 19. She also hopes Americans will continue to participate in community service year round to build a stronger America. She urges Americans to go to the website, www.USAservice.org, and sign up for volunteer opportunities.

Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream for America and the election of Barack Obama as president of America certainly speaks to the changes wrought in our society by MLK and the other people who fought for civil rights. Too many people died in the quest for freedom and equality for all. And there is still much work to be done to ensure all Americans grow up in a land of opportunity.

Volunteer work is a crucial part of our society. Volunteers in places such as schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and colleges help these institutions run more smoothly. As many schools and other places face a financial crisis in these difficult times volunteers become ever more important to help keep order.

There are many ways one can volunteer. Groups like Goodwill and the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity need volunteers for their stores. Organizations like the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Big Brother/Big Sister always need volunteers.

One can also do volunteer work at home. One could plant a garden to create vegetables or fruits to donate to a homeless shelter or food bank. One could make items such as art, afghans, photos, and craft items to sell at a hospital thrift shop to help the hospital with fund raising. One could also gather items from the home that are no longer used to donate to Goodwill or Salvation Army to help them raise funds.

I have done a lot of volunteer work over the years and I find it very rewarding. It makes me feel good to help others and focus on someone other than me for a change. I have volunteered in a hospital Emergency Room, donated blood, helped out at the Special Olympics, raised funds for the American Cancer Society and UNICEF, written articles to publicize charity events, presented seminars for the Red Cross and a bunch of other volunteer work too over the years.

I have had fun volunteering. My grandmother volunteered into her late 80s at the local hospital. It was cute to see her talking about her volunteer work and the adventures she had at the hospital with her volunteer friends.

So take Michelle Obama's advice and try some volunteer work. You will help to strengthen America.

Obama can instill civic responsibility – through a mandatory Youth Corps

Long Beach, Calif. – Even though it's been less than a week since Barak Obama's inauguration speech, much has already been said, broadcast, and written about the new president's call for service and for his focus on " a new era of responsibility." With that in mind, perhaps there's a responsibility seed that could be sown in President Obama's 100-day honeymoon period.

Here's what such a seed might resemble: Every young American citizen, once he or she graduated from high school, would have the responsibility to complete two years of public service. National need would define the nature of such service, but at any given time the variety of jobs likely would be in education, infrastructure repair and maintenance, construction, healthcare, the military, and the arts, for example. Participants, most age 18 to 20, would be provided with room and board and given minimum wage during this two-year period.

In exchange, after a young person had completed this two-year commitment, the United States government would bear the responsibility for paying for that person's two-year junior college education or the first two years of his or her four-year college tuition.

Just as John F. Kennedy's Peace Corps found inspiration in the ideas of Sen. Hubert Humphrey, Sen. Fritz Hollings, Congressman Henry Reuss, Sen. William Fullbright, and the Mormons, among others, this "youth corps" idea also borrows from the Peace Corps.

Such a "youth corps" also plucks some of the best and brightest gems from Franklin D. Roosevelt's Civil Conservation Corps, America's military draft, and the GI bill. That's because the idea of service is not novel to the American experience. Rather, each new generation asks itself how its citizens might best serve their country.

The times call for legitimate regeneration, not a feel-good tweak, and a piecemeal, voluntary approach simply would not promote the sort of permanent cultural change the financially strapped 21st century increasingly demands. Rather, a mandatory youth corps rich with a variety of service options would benefit every participant and citizen alike, while at the same time helping to instill a permanent "service mind-set" throughout the nation – a gift of shared responsibility, as it were.

Today, global unrest and economic hard times demand that we dust ourselves off and start working again, that we repair our broken transportation system, that we train people to help in our hospitals, that we teach prospective teachers, that we better prepare and educate our students, that we ready our young people so that they might have every opportunity to mature with grace, dignity, and understanding.

Responsibility cuts both ways, and every generation of Americans shares the responsibility of providing its young people with the opportunity to be responsible. Such shared responsibility would help spawn a new breed of citizens who, when they came of legal age, would:

•Have increased real-world experience.
•Be more worldly wise.
•Have knowledge of a skill or trade.
•Better understand how various aspects of the nation work.
•Be more fiscally self-sufficient.
•Have the opportunity to pursue a free junior-college education.

Any such "youth corps" project involving all of America's high school graduates is by nature a mammoth undertaking. But then, so are trillion-dollar financial bailouts. More service-oriented citizens would push the country in a savvy, experienced, community oriented, mature, and responsible direction.

What a good outcome this should be, and what a good time to consider such a newly conceptualized "youth corps."

New DoD Directive: Civilian Expeditionary Workforce

SUBJECT: DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce

1. PURPOSE. This Directive:

a. Reissues DoD Directive (DoDD) 1404.10 (Reference (a)) under a new title to establish the policy through which an appropriately sized subset of the DoD civilian workforce is preidentified to be organized, trained, and equipped in a manner that facilitates the use of their capabilities for operational requirements. These requirements are typically away from the normal work locations of DoD civilians, or in situations where other civilians may be evacuated to assist military forces where the use of DoD civilians is appropriate. These employees shall be collectively known as the DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce. Members of the DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce shall be organized, trained, cleared, equipped, and ready to
deploy in support of combat operations by the military; contingencies; emergency operations; humanitarian missions; disaster relief; restoration of order; drug interdiction; and stability operations of the Department of Defense in accordance with DoDD 3000.05 (Reference (b)).
b. Updates policies and responsibilities for the designation of part of the DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce using the existing category of Emergency-Essential (E-E) civilian employee positions, and establishes policies and responsibilities for the designation of part of the DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce using new categories of Non-Combat Essential (NCE) positions and Capability-Based Volunteers (CBVs) employees and former DoD employees.

All four categories make up the newly designated DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce.

c. Supersedes any conflicting portions of other DoD issuances. Such instances shall be identified by the Heads of the DoD Components to the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)).

ObamaNation, volunteerism, The Give Act

The biting winds of change are blowing through ObamaNation. The same “volunteerism” that kept America running since the days of its founding, wiped out with the stroke of a pen, will no longer be volunteerism. It becomes forced labor and like the practice of another era, presses American citizens of all ages and creeds, unknowingly into military service.

On paper, H.R. 1388 is the “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act”; the more innocuous sounding “The Give Act”, for short. But “The Give Act” is not part of Obama’s distant future for unsuspecting American citizens, because it hits the House floor tomorrow.

Democrat Rep. Carolyn McCarthy is sponsoring the bill with 25 co-sponsors, Democrats down to the last one. Yeas and Nays 34-3.

The Give Act puts the finishing touches to Public Allies New Leadership for New Times, modeled after Saul Alinsky’s “Peoples Organizations” and operating under Michelle Obama with an alleged operating budget of more than $75-million a year. According to a Fact Sheet About Public Allies, “President Obama was a member of the founding advisory board of the non-profit organization. Michelle Obama was the founding Executive Director of Public Allies Chicago from Spring, 1993 until Fall 1996 (italics CFP’s). She served on Public Allies national board of directors from 1997 until 2002. Obama was no longer on the board when Michelle was hired.

Michelle was also a pioneer in the social entrepreneur movement--leaders who create new approaches and organize to provide new solutions to social problems.

Like most things Saul Alinsky, H.R. 1388 sounds noble in stating why wide-sweeping change is necessary. “The Give Act” aims to “leverage investments to increase State, local, business and philanthropic resources to address national and local challenges.”

Comprehensive in its power, H.R. 1388 goes straight to the heart of volunteerism in America, impacting everything from the lemonade stands of neighbourhood children, to the residents of senior citizens homes.

“The Give Act” puts tow-headed school children and silver-haired seniors in the official uniform of the new State, and encompasses every walk of life in main-street America.

It could be argued that ladies as sweet as their 4-H cherry pies or school children fed the pablum of being global citizens in American public schools are hardly in a position to know they will be part of Obama’s dream for a radically changed America. But no longer are the vanguards in place to teach them the difference.

The Act in entrenching will will leave no student, or senior behind and no one in between.

American ‘volunteers’ from across the spectrum, once pressed into service of the Civilian Community Corps, in the fullness of time, shall be called the “National Civilian Community Corps.”

With students and seniors corralled into the same pasture, there will be no detractors left to call then “Obamabots”.

You might want to run, but you can’t hide from H.R. 1388.

Whether you are young or old, or firmly believe that volunteering means you are offering your time to the good of community work, you will be pressed into Obama’s National Civilian Community Corps.

Just in case you don’t want to wear the uniform and think the Corps means everybody but you, these are the citizen group H.R. 1388 proposes to cover:

“Increasing service opportunities for our Nation’s retiring professionals.
“Encourage members of the Baby Boom generation to partake in service opportunities.”
The National Civilian Community Corps is year-round and will impose itself on children away at summer camp. Even private schools will not be immune from its membership.
Down through the generations, wearing a uniform has always appealed to the sincere at heart.
According to H.R. 1388, “the Director determines appropriate “Uniforms”.
Membership is mandatory!

While you were busy worrying about coming up with the rent or mortgage money and the safety of your job, on March 9, committees knowing full well the chill that comes with the word “camp” changed all of their documents to read “campus”.

Above the gates of Auschiwitz were the words: “Arbeit Macht Frei”, (“work will set you free”).

In Obama’s bold new America, a reversal of the innocence of good works in volunteerism is the first radical change of tomorrow.

All 25 cosponsors are listed. Several from California and most of the others from the Northeast and some Hispanic's. Looks like they are reconfiguring VISTA, Job Corps etc into this new "campus".

The bill looks like it is aimed at high school dropouts, minorities etc. A very good supply of true believer brown shirts. The Obama Youth Punk Brigade.

They are calling being drafted for National Service a "grant".

Makes it sound better... Your kids won't be drafted to go to a camp... They'll get a "grant" to go to a "campus"...

Here's another good one... Looks like if you've been convicted of murder you will be inelligble for a "grant" but minor crimes like Rape, Drug Dealing, Attempted Murder, etc are no problem!

Can't leave out the best and brightest...no gang member left behind.

HR 1388, will hit the House floor on Tuesday.It is called the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act (The Give Act.) The House is scheduled to Rule this week. Sponsored by Democrat Representative Carolyn McCarthy (NY), Education and Labor Committee.

The objective is to reauthorize and reform the national service laws.Democrat Rep. McCarthy is sponsoring the bill with 25 co-sponsors, ALL Democrats, including Charlie Rangel. Need I say more.

MANDATORY! 3 years of service for all students.
The program talks about earning "educational awards" via this service.
What I suspect is the plan:

(1) Establish this "national service" as a way to get federal student aid for college;

(2) Soon to be followed by a reduction/elimination of other forms of federal student aid;

(3) Thus mandating a successful term of service as a condition for the non-wealthy getting through college. This term of service will take place under conditions where political orientation will be closely examined, indoctrination will be thorough, and the work will be for the benefit of Leftist organization.

I predict that this will be seen as a way to ensure that only the politically-correct will have access to professional careers.

This is it people. The link goes to the bill itself. I have no idea if it will pass congress. But 0bama was serious when he spoke of national service, and a national security corps.

I have never thought the things I have been thinking about any other president. As much as I despaired under Clinton's administration of corruption and graft, it was nothing to the deliberate destruction of the economy and basic freedoms we are seeing under 0bama.

PRAY for America. We are reaping what we have sown for so long.
