Midwest Mystery Jets are Actually B-2 Stealth Bombers

The mystery jets that were spotted over Amarillo, Texas, and Wichita, Kan. earlier this year are in fact Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit stealth bombers on a training sortie, military sources told USNI News on Monday.

“The Amarillo jets were B-2 training sorties,” an U.S. Air Force official with direct knowledge of the incident told USNI News on Monday.

The jets were enroute to the Utah Test and Training Range to practice dropping bombs after a brief delay at the Melrose Air Force Range in New Mexico.

Flying out of Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., the B-2s would likely have navigated via Amarillo to get to Melrose Range.

“The Kansas picture is likely any number of training sorties flown around Kansas and Missouri,” the official added.

Whiteman, the home station of the B-2 fleet, is just outside of Kansas City near the border between Kansas and Missouri.

Earlier reporting that suggested that the images showed a thus far unknown type of triangular aircraft were mistaken due to the poor resolution of the photos.

Photo taken by amature photographer Jeff Templin in Kansas on April, 16 2014

The triangular planform on apparent display in those shots is the result of an optical illusion that obscured the trailing edge of the B-2s design.

“Given the resolution of this photo, we can’t even tell if it is a military

aircraft, much less an Air Force one,” Air Force spokeswoman Jennifer Cassidy told USNI News on April 21.

` ` Propaganda War Continues Russia Tells US No Intention of Invading Ukraine Concerned About Build-Up of American and NATO Forces ‘

#AceWorldNews – MOSCOW/ UNITED STATES – April 28 – Russia has told the United States it has no intention of invading Ukraine and expressed concern about the build-up of American and Nato forces in eastern Europe.
Four British Typhoon fighter jets have arrived at a Nato base in Lithuania to take part in increased Baltic border patrols, while 600 US troops were deployed to Poland and the Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia and
    Lithuania, reportedly for military exercises.
It comes amid continuing violence in eastern Ukraine, including in the city of Luhansk where hundreds of pro-Russian separatists stormed the regional government headquarters, unopposed by police.
The Kiev government said it had information the activists also planned to seize the local television centre.

FNC brought it live, with Cathrine Herrage (or however she spells her name).

But nothing on the news yet.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia: unilateral sanctions imposed by the U.S. against Russia are illegitimate

    Posted on by newsworldrussia
Unilateral sanctions imposed by the U.S. against Russia are illegitimate, they are violating the norms of civilized interstate communication, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told ITAR-TASS.
“The U.S., taking this decision, were guided by groundless ideas on what is happening in Ukraine and around it, – said Ryabkov. – Washington did not do anything to improve the situation in Kiev. A new attempt to dictate and make ultimatums, undertaken by the American side against us, will not add the chances for a constructive solution of the problems. The requirements that the protesters in the eastern regions of Ukraine have, are legitimate. Rather than follow the path of pressure and attempts to impose certain moves, U.S. would better think about more substantive work with their clients in Kiev with the aim to normalize the situation.”

The ships of the Russian and Latin American Navy conducted exercises to combat drug cartels in the Caribbean, representative of the Northern Fleet second rank captain Evgeny Kirillov told reporters on Tuesday.

“The main theme of the exercises became working out of joint measures to curb the activities of organized criminal groups, to cut off the channels of smuggling drugs into the territorial waters of Latin America,” – said Kirillov.

The police of Nicaragua and special forces of Honduras took part in the exercises “Storm-2014″.

John Kerry Describes Destabilization Campaigns as “thuggism and rogue state-ism”

Posted on April 29, 2014 by willyloman
    by Scott Creighton
A day after it was exposed that NATO (and not the OSCE) had sent a number of military intelligence officials into Eastern Ukraine essentially to help undermine the growing resistance to our new neoliberal puppet regime we installed via a color revolution (the final assault after we spent $5 billion according to Victoria Nuland, to subvert them through less obvious means over the years), Sec. of State Kerry came out with some harsh words about larger nations interfering in smaller states for the purpose of remaking their countries. He called it “thuggism” and “rogue state-ism”.
Unfortunately, he was talking about Russia at the time and he was making the whole thing up to cover yesterday’s news. Kerry was speaking at a meeting of the Trilateral Commission. The recording was “leaked” out of the meeting. No proof was offered by Mr. Kerry.
“Intel is producing taped conversations of intelligence operatives taking their orders from Moscow and everybody can tell the difference in the accents, in the idioms, in the language. We know exactly who’s giving those orders, we know where they are coming from,” Kerry said at a private meeting of the Trilateral Commission in Washington. A recording of Kerry’s remarks was obtained by The Daily Beast.
Kerry didn’t name specific Russian officials implicated in the recordings. But he claimed that the intercepts provided proof of the Russians deliberately fomenting unrest in eastern Ukraine—and lying about it to U.S. officials and the public.
“It’s not an accident that you have some of the same people identified who were in Crimea and in Georgia and who are now in east Ukraine,” said Kerry. “This is insulting to everybody’s intelligence, let alone to our notions about how we ought to be behaving in the 21st century. It’s thuggism, it’s rogue state-ism. It’s the worst order of behavior.” Daily Beast
Thuggism? Rogue state-ism? Not really the English language, but I would agree with that. “The worst order of behavior” is absolutely true. Only, it’s not Russia doing it. It’s Mr. Kerry and many of his predecessors.
Again, this is nothing more than an attempt by the complicit media to fabricate another “photos of Russian special forces in Ukraine” only this time, they don’t have any photos that can be debunked. It seems they (“intelligence” agencies) are going to spit out some hacked together clips of recording taken out of context between undisclosed individuals at undisclosed times. Could even be their assets talking to the neo-Nazis a couple of months ago before our color revolution kicked off.
Funny thing is, this statement is in direct conflict with a previous finding from our intelligence services that they had not intercepted any such plans regarding Crimea.
“In March, the Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. agencies were surprised that it had not collected any telltale signs of the Crimea stealth invasion at the end of February, suggesting the Russians had managed to give such orders without the United States knowing about it. ” Daily Beast
Suddenly we have been able to break their encryption? Or…. maybe Kerry is just full of sh*t, accusing the enemy of his own tactics.
Their “photos of troops” propaganda failed miserably. Their “OSCE observers” propaganda failed miserably. Hopefully, this one will as well.
Let’s also hope that those words, “It’s thuggism, it’s rogue state-ism. It’s the worst order of behavior.” , follow Mr. Kerry to the grave of his career and that one day the majority of America will see his statement for what it really is: a confession.

` Federation Council of Russia’s Parliament Does Not Rule out Tit-For-Tat Measures on US and EU ‘

#AceWorldNews – MOSCOW – April 29 – Valentina Matviyenko, the speaker of the Federation Council, the upper house of Russia’s parliament, does not rule out that Russia may draft tit-for-tat measures in response to Western sanctions. “This is the case when we should respond tit-for-tat, draft response measures so that no one can talk to Russia in this language,” Matviyenko told journalists while commenting on expansion of Western sanctions against Russia.
She said that such measures should be worked out, the Federation Council would support them.
According to Matviyenko, sanctions against Russia “will not have any serious influence on our economy.”
“What the West can be thanked for is that they consolidate Russian society more and more by such actions. Russia has a great margin of safety to react to possible losses from such sanctions,” the speaker said, adding that it will make it possible to diversify Russia’s economy, including through increasing the output of high-tech products.

Putin: Washington behind Ukraine events all along, though flying low

The US has been behind the Ukrainian crisis from the beginning, but was initially flying low, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said. He added that if sanctions continue, Russia will have to reconsider who has access to key sectors if its economy.
“I think what is happening now shows us who really was mastering the process from the beginning. But in the beginning, the United States preferred to remain in the shadow,” Putin said, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
Putin stated that since the US has taken a lead role in resolving the political crisis in Ukraine, it is “telling that they originally were behind this process, but now they just have emerged as leaders” of it.
The "Maidan cookies" policy paves the way to a broader crisis, Putin warned, referring to US officials showing up in central Kiev and encouraging protesters during demonstrations.
“It is necessary to understand that the situation is serious and try to find serious approaches to the solution,” he said.
Putin said that he has called on Kiev to start an all-Ukrainian dialogue, adding that other countries should not be blamed for the crisis.

“[They should] treat equally the rights of those living in other areas of Ukraine, first of all, I mean, the east and southeast, establish a dialogue, find a compromise," he told journalists while speaking about the measures necessary to put an end to the crisis. “Here's what you need to do; searching for the guilty outside Ukraine is wrong.”

Regarding the last row of sanctions imposed on Russia by the US and the EU, Vladimir Putin said he sees no need for counter sanctions.
"We would very much wish not to resort to any measures in response," he told reporters. "But if something like that continues, we will of course have to think about who is working in the key sectors of the Russian economy, including the energy sector, and how."
At the same time, the US and EU sanctions will not harm the Eurasian integration process, which is meant to lead to the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union, based on a Customs Union and common economic space among Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus, he said."

    My take? This quote is actually a crucial one if i'm correct;

"He added that if sanctions continue, Russia will have to reconsider who has access to key sectors if its economy."

If i'm right, the Commies may use this crisis as an excuse to "Nationalize" their economy and go directly back to Communism; all in the interests of National Security of course.

Russia Orders Urgent Dispatch of Military Medical Teams to Ukraine Border

Another sign that Moscow is preparing for war
    Source: Paul Joseph Watson
The Russian Ministry of Defense has ordered brigades of military medical teams to be urgently dispatched to the Ukrainian border, another sign that Moscow is preparing for war after tens of thousands of troops were sent to the border region for drills.
     Image: Russian Forces (YouTube).

    According to a translated report by St. Petersburg’s Rustlegraph news agency;
By order of the Ministry of Defense in the Military Medical Academy in Kirov on the morning of April 25 were quickly formed military medical brigades. In team included military doctors of the number of officers and senior cadets WMA.

They announced that there is work in the Ukraine.

As confirmed by the “Telegraph” workers of the Academy, on the eve of April 24, at about 22:00 of the Ministry of Defense was ordered urgent formation of medical teams to send them to Ukraine.
As Mac Slavo notes, the dispatch of the medical workers suggests that the earlier movement of tens of thousands of Russian soldiers to the same region was not merely intended as a show of force.

Despite Moscow’s claim that tens of thousands of troops dispatched to the border for exercises had returned to their permanent positions, NATO said there was no sign of a withdrawal.

“We currently have no information that indicates a withdrawal of Russian troops from the Ukrainian border. We continue to urge Russia to abide by the Geneva agreement and to pull back all its troops along the Ukrainian border in favor of diplomacy and dialogue,” a NATO officialtold Reuters.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s acting President Aleksandr Turchinov said earlier today that Kiev cannot control the east of the country and that Russia is threatening to “unleash a continental war against Ukraine”.

Vladimir Putin recently visited his “spiritual home,” the Valaam monastery, at which some speculate the Russian President is mulling over a major decision regarding the crisis in Ukraine.

Ukrainian army ‘on full alert’, president admits east is beyond control

April 30, 2014 Mike Woldburg Leave a comment Go to comments
    Source: RT

The Ukrainian army is on full alert due to the “threat of a Russian invasion,” Ukraine’s acting President Aleksandr Turchinov said after admitting that the government in Kiev cannot control the situation in the east of the country.

     Image: Ukraine Army (Wiki Commons).

“I am going back to the real threat that Russia would unleash a continental war against Ukraine. Our armed forces have been put on full alert,” Turchinov told Wednesday a council of heads of Ukrainian regions in Kiev, as news agencies report.

He called on the audience to speed up the creation of regional militias loyal to Kiev.

“We must have the capability to move those units fast to support other regions against such a threat,” he stressed.

Turchinov admitted that Kiev simply cannot get the situation in the rebellious eastern regions under control and reiterated earlier accusations, saying some people in law enforcement “are cooperating with terrorist organizations,” the name Kiev authorities use to refer to anti-government protesters who are seizing government buildings in eastern Ukraine.

“Our primary task is to prevent the spread of the terrorist threat to other regions of Ukraine,” he said.

In contradiction to the previous moves of the government, which included raids on protester checkpoints and other demonstrations of force, Turchinov said “as we know from the experience of Maidan, the use of force is inefficient. That’s the situation we faced in the eastern regions.”

Earlier on Tuesday, the acting president said in a televised address that the situation in the east of the country “demonstrated inaction, helplessness and sometimes treason” and pledged to sack many officers in eastern regions of Ukraine.

Turchinov was elected a new speaker of the parliament and appointed by the MPs to act as the country’s acting president after the previous leader, Viktor Yanukovich, was ousted following violent street protests in February.

The new authorities in Kiev are failing to deal with a wave of protests against them centered in the Donetsk Region of eastern Ukraine.

Despite announcing an “anti-terrorist operation” and amassing a large number of troops and heavy weapons in the region, the national government has failed to prevent the continued seizures of buildings there and some other eastern regions of Ukraine.

There are indications that Kiev does not have enough loyal troops to deliver on its promised protest crackdown. On several occasions the troops sent against activists simply defected, surrendering their weapons and armored vehicles.

And those 'regional militias'? Those will be manned by motivated men from the Right-Wing Nationalist parties, who believe in a free Ukraine, free of the Bolshevik/ Moscovite Gangsterism that has held their country down all this time.

Six CF-18s and hundreds of Canadian Forces personnel left for Romania to help NATO forces in Eastern Europe amid uncertainty over the scope of the mission.
It is the biggest deployment of military aircraft to Romania from another NATO member since the Ukraine crisis broke out.
“There is a lot of uncertainty about what we’re going to be doing over there,” Lieutenant-General Yvan Blondin said at a press conference with Defense Minister Rob Nicholson in Bagotville, where the CF-18 Hornets are based.
Blondin mentioned that the troops were going to perhaps participate in routine training exercises – but he is still not sure what the mission will involve.
“We’re not sure how long we’re going to be staying, but we’ll be staying until the government tells us it’s time to come back,” Blondin said.
Six fighters have set off, accompanied by a C-17 cargo plane carrying spare parts, tools and mechanical equipment.
The fighters first headed to Iceland before receiving further direction from Department of National Defense’s Central Command on where they will be stationed in Romania, which borders Ukraine.
All in all, up to 250 Canadian military personnel are set to be deployed for the NATO mission.

Russia warns of “catastrophic consequences” after “full-scale attack” has been launched by Ukrainian military

Eastern Ukraine: Insurgents claimed to have shot down two helicopters and the skies are filled with acrid smoke

Ukraine has launched a military assault on the flashpoint town of Slavyansk, raising the stakes in the showdown with Russia, which has promised “catastrophic consequences” if Kiev stepped up operations.

Insurgents shot down two army helicopters, killing two servicemen, including a pilot, as the army tightened its noose around the rebel-held town of 160,000 people.

The predawn offensive drew a sharp response from Moscow, where a spokesman for President Vladimir Putin said it dealt a “final blow” to a deal clinched last month in Geneva meant to ease the crisis.

A spokeswoman for insurgents in Slavyansk, the epicentre of tensions in eastern Ukraine, said the army had staged a “full-scale attack” on the town.

The raid marked a dramatic escalation in the crisis and jeopardised negotiations to release seven European OSCE inspectors being held by Slavyank’s insurgents.
The Kremlin said it had an envoy in east Ukraine negotiating for their freedom.

A day earlier, Ukraine’s interim president reintroduced conscription amid fears of an imminent Russian invasion.

Oleksander Turchynov has also put his armed forces on “full-combat alert” in response to the estimated 40,000 Russian troops massed on the border.

He has admitted police are powerless to stop a growing insurgency in the eastern part of the country, where pro-Russian rebels have seized control of more than a dozen towns and cities.

As the crisis rapidly spirals into the worse East-West confrontation since the end of the Cold War, US President Barack Obama was due to discuss the tensions with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the White House later Friday.

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov announced the Slavyansk death toll on his Facebook page, adding that there were also personnel wounded in the operation.

“It’s a real battle we are waging against professional mercenaries,” he wrote, warning local residents to stay indoors and keep away from windows.

“Our demands for the terrorists are simple: release their hostages, lay down their arms, leave administrative buildings and restore the normal functioning of the urban infrastructure.”

One Slavyansk resident, Vladimir Pader, told Russian television: “Everyone – rebels and Slavyansk residents – is determined not to surrender the city.”

Eight armoured vehicles and several soldiers were seen retrenching positions at checkpoints and warned off anybody trying to approach.

Authorities said they had retaken nine rebel checkpoints.

Central Slavyansk remained relatively calm, although rebels parked a previously captured armoured vehicle in front of the town hall where the OSCE monitors are being held.

In what they called an “antiterrorist” operation, the Ukrainian forces had for days encircled the town to prevent the insurgents receiving reinforcements.

Russia’s foreign ministry warned Thursday that any effort by Kiev to intensify its military operation “against its own people” in the east could have “catastrophic consequences”.

And Russian news agencies quoted Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying that while Moscow was “making efforts to de-escalate and settle the conflict”, Kiev had launched a “reprisal raid”.

He said the raid was “essentially finishing off the last hope for the feasibility of the Geneva accord”.

Russia’s envoy to the OSCE, Andrei Kelin, said Moscow had urged the pan-European body to “take steps to stop this reprisal raid,” according to the ITAR-TASS news agency.

Hopes had been raised in recent days that the seven OSCE hostages in Slavyansk – four Germans, a Dane, a Czech and a Pole – might soon be released but Ukraine has accused the rebels of wanting to use them as human shields.

The West and Kiev believe the chaos in eastern Ukraine is being sown by Moscow in a bid to destabilise the former Soviet republic ahead of planned presidential elections on May 25.

The Kremlin denies the charges, but has reserved the right to use troops to protect Russian speakers in eastern Ukraine, a region with deep cultural and historical ties to Moscow.

The Western response has been to launch sanctions against members of Putin’s inner circle and target key firms in a bid to attack Russia’s already recession-hit economy.

Moscow has reacted angrily, threatening to retaliate against Western interests in the lucrative energy sector but has vowed a measured response.

All eyes are now on Obama and Merkel’s meeting in Washington to see what the West’s next move will be.

Also later Friday, Russia, Ukraine and the European Union will hold talks over debts running into billions of dollars that state-run Russian gas firm Gazprom says Kiev owes.

Putin has warned that not paying the bill, which Gazprom estimates at $3.5 billion, could lead to him turning off the taps, which would also affect several European countries.

Kiev is expected to use part of a $17-billion loan from the International Monetary Fund, announced on Wednesday, to settle the bill.

Financial market analyst Holder Schmieding said the situation in Ukraine was “a whale of a risk” for the European economy.

The unrest in Ukraine, which started with peaceful demonstrations in Kiev in November against pro-Kremlin President Viktor Yanukovych’s decision to ditch a pact for closer integration with the EU, has rapidly degenerated into a full-blown global crisis.

After a deadly crackdown on protesters, Yanukovych was forced out in February, sparking fury in Moscow which responded with a blitz annexation of Crimea.

The pro-Russia rebels who have been steadily taking more ground in the east vow to hold their own Crimea-style “referendum” on independence on May 11 – two weeks before the nationwide presidential vote.

Russia and China To Hold Joint Naval Exercises

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff / FlickrChina and Russia regularly carry out military exercises together.

China said on it would conduct joint naval drills with Russia in the East China Sea off Shanghai in late May, in what it called a bid to deepen military cooperation.

China’s defense ministry did not give an exact location in the East China Sea, where Beijing is locked in an increasingly bitter dispute with Japan over the ownership of a group of uninhabited islets.

“These drills are regular exercises held by China and Russia’s navies, and the purpose is to deepen practical cooperation between the two militaries, to raise the ability to jointly deal with maritime security threats,” the ministry said on its website on Wednesday.

    It provided no other details.

China alarmed Japan, South Korea and the U.S. last year when it announced an air defense identification zone for the East China Sea, covering the islands.

The Beijing government, which is swiftly ramping up military spending, has regularly dispatched patrols to the East China Sea since it established the defense zone.

China was angered last week after U.S. President Barack Obama assured ally Japan that Washington was committed to its defense, including the disputed isles.

Earlier this month, Tokyo announced it would break ground on a new radar base in the area, on a tropical Japanese island close to Taiwan.
The radar station on Yonaguni Island, just 150 km (93 miles) from the disputed islands in the East China Sea, marks Japan’s first military expansion at the western end of its island chain in more than 40 years.
China and Russia have close diplomatic, security and economic ties, and regularly carry out military exercises together.

The West has cut all paths to a peaceful solution of the Ukrainian crisis by supporting the Kiev authorities and their violent crackdown on protests in the eastern part of the country, Russia’s envoy Vitaly Churkin told the UN Security Council.

Catastrophic consequences are inevitable if Kiev authorities do not stop their “criminal venture”, Churkin stressed at the emergency UNSC meeting summoned by Moscow on Friday.

PressTV: Washington intends Russia’s demise, by Paul Craig Roberts

    By Paul Craig Roberts

Washington has no intention of allowing the crisis in Ukraine to be resolved. Having failed to seize the country and evict Russia from its Black Sea naval base, Washington sees new opportunities in the crisis.

One is to restart the Cold War by forcing the Russian government to occupy the Russian-speaking areas of present day Ukraine where protesters are objecting to the stooge anti-Russian government installed in Kiev by the American coup. These areas of Ukraine are former constituent parts of Russia herself. They were attached to Ukraine by Soviet leaders in the 20th century when both Ukraine and Russia were part of the same country, the USSR.

Essentially, the protesters have established independent governments in the cities. The police and military units sent to suppress the protesters, called “terrorists” in the American fashion, for the most part have until now defected to the protesters.

With Obama’s incompetent White House and State Department having botched Washington’s takeover of Ukraine, Washington has been at work shifting the blame to Russia. According to Washington and its presstitute media, the protests are orchestrated by the Russian government and have no sincere basis. If Russia sends in military units to protect the Russian citizens in the former Russian territories, the act will be used by Washington to confirm Washington’s propaganda of a Russian invasion (as in the case of Georgia), and Russia will be further demonized.

The Russian government is in a predicament. Moscow does not want financial responsibility for these territories but cannot stand aside and permit Russians to be put down by force. The Russian government has attempted to keep Ukraine intact, relying on the forthcoming elections in Ukraine to bring to office more realistic leaders than the stooges installed by Washington.

However, Washington does not want an election that might replace its stooges and return to cooperating with Russia to resolve the situation. There is a good chance that Washington will tell its stooges in Kiev to declare that the crisis brought to Ukraine by Russia prevents an election. Washington’s NATO puppet states would back up this claim.

It is almost certain that despite the Russian government’s hopes, the Russian government is faced with the continuation of both the crisis and the Washington puppet government in Ukraine.

On May 1 Washington’s former ambassador to Russia, now NATO’s “second-in-command” but the person who, being American, calls the shots, has declared Russia to no longer be a partner but an enemy. The American, Alexander Vershbow, told journalists that NATO has given up on “drawing Moscow closer” and soon will deploy a large number of combat forces in Eastern Europe. Vershbow called this aggressive policy deployment of “defensive assets to the region.”

In other words, here we have again the lie that the Russian government is going to forget all about its difficulties in Ukraine and launch attacks on Poland, the Baltic States, Romania., Moldova, and on the central Asian states of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. The dissembler Vershbow wants to modernize the militaries of these American puppet states and “seize the opportunity to create the reality on the ground by accepting membership of aspirant countries into NATO.”

What Vershbow has told the Russian government is that you just keep on relying on Western good will and reasonableness while we set up sufficient military forces to prevent Russia from coming to the aid of its oppressed citizens in Ukraine. Our demonization of Russia is working. It has made you hesitant to act during the short period when you could preempt us and seize your former territories. By waiting you give us time to mass forces on your borders from the Baltic Sea to Central Asia. That will distract you and keep you from the Ukraine. The oppression we will inflict on your Russians in Ukraine will discredit you, and the NGOs we finance in the Russian Federation will appeal to nationalist sentiments and overthrow your government for failing to come to the aid of Russians and failing to protect Russia’s strategic interests.
Washington is licking its chops, seeing an opportunity to gain Russia as a puppet state.

Will Putin sit there with his hopes awaiting the West’s good will to work out a solution while Washington attempts to engineer his fall?

The time is approaching when Russia will either have to act to terminate the crisis or accept an ongoing crisis and distraction in its backyard. Kiev has launched military airstrikes on protesters in Slavyansk. On May 2 Russian government spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Kiev’s resort to violence had destroyed the hope for the Geneva agreement on de-escalating the crisis. Yet, the Russian government spokesman again expressed the hope of the Russian government that European governments and Washington will put a stop to the military strikes and pressure the Kiev government to accommodate the protesters in a way that keeps Ukraine together and restores friendly relations with Russia.

This is a false hope. It assumes that the Wolfowitz doctrine is just words, but it is not. The Wolfowitz doctrine is the basis of US policy toward Russia (and China). The doctrine regards any power sufficiently strong to remain independent of Washington’s influence to be “hostile.” The doctrine states:

“Our first objective is to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival, either on the territory of the former Soviet Union or elsewhere, that poses a threat on the order of that posed formerly by the Soviet Union. This is a dominant consideration underlying the new regional defense strategy and requires that we endeavor to prevent any hostile power from dominating a region whose resources would, under consolidated control, be sufficient to generate global power.”
The Wolfowitz doctrine justifies Washington’s dominance of all regions. It is consistent with the neoconservative ideology of the US as the “indispensable” and “exceptional” country entitled to world hegemony.

Russia and China are in the way of US world hegemony. Unless the Wolfowitz doctrine is abandoned, nuclear war is the likely outcome.
