(CNN) — Parts of Los Angeles International Airport were being evacuated Friday morning after reports of shots being fired there, police said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department is assisting with a “multi-patient” incident at LAX, the department said Friday on Twitter.
Further details weren’t immediately available, police said.

LOS ANGELES — Parts of Los Angeles International Airport were being evacuated Friday morning after reports of shots being fired there.
FOX News was reporting a high powered rifle was used and that the suspect was ‘taken down’ by police.
There are reportedly many victims, although the severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
The Los Angeles Fire Department is assisting with a “multi-patient” incident at Los Angeles International Airport , the department said Friday on Twitter.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Terminal 3 at LAX was evacuated following a shooting there this morning.
One suspect was wounded and taken into custody, according to a broadcast report. There are unconfirmed reports that a second person — who may be a TSA employee — also was shot.
According to the CHP, Century Boulevard has been closed to stop traffic from entering Los Angeles International Airport, and motorists have been advised to avoid the area.
At least three ambulances were at the scene, according to aerial news footage.

Sounds like he had a rifle. Shot a TSA agent. Got shot in the foot or leg and taken into custody.

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles Airport Police Friday said a at least one suspect was in reportedly custody following a shooting at Terminal 3 at LAX.
CBS News’ John Miller reported that the suspect or suspects entered the terminal wearing camouflage and opened fire around 9:30 a.m., wounding at least three people.
Preliminary indications show that the suspect(s) was targeting TSA employees, according to Miller.
A TSA employee was reportedly shot in the leg in addition to two other people, however, CBS2/KCAL9 has not been able to confirm that report.
Terminal 3 was evacuated and cordoned off and arrival and departure roads to the airport, in addition to Century Boulevard, were closed.

Traffic was backed up on the westbound 105 Freeway as cars were unable to exit onto Century Boulevard.
A large box of ammunition was also recovered on LAX property, Miller said. The LAPD Bomb Squad was on scene trying to clear any suspicious packages.
Passenger Robert Perez told CBS2 that TSA agents came through the terminal and yelled that a man had a gun.
“I heard popping and everybody dropped to the ground,” Perez said.
“There are a couple hundred people standing there not knowing what to do. Mostly people exiting the airport on foot, walking down Century,” passenger Kelly Kahl said.
Aerial shots from Sky2 showed buses were transporting passengers that had disembarked from planes onto the runway area.
There is an incident underway at LAX. Law enforcement is on scene. More information to follow.—The FAA has grounded all flights at LAX.

(CBS) LOS ANGELES - A shooter entered Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport
Friday morning wearing camouflage battle dress uniform and opened fire, a law enforcement source tells CBS News Senior Correspondent John Miller.
Early indications are that the shooter was targeting TSA employees and multiple victims are down, according to the source.
Preliminary information indicates one TSA employee is dead and four other people are wounded, CBS News has learned.
There are conflicting reports on the suspect.
According to CBS Los Angeles, the gunman, who reportedly had a high-powered rifle, was shot and secured by law enforcement personnel.
A large box of ammunition has been found at the scene, according to a law enforcement official.
LAPD Bomb Squad is reportedly on the scene trying to clear suspicious packages.
Passengers reported being evacuated from the terminal sometime after 9 a.m.
Passenger Robert Perez told the station that TSA agents came through the terminal and yelled that a man had a gun.
