US Mil plane violated Iranian airspace and HAS BEEN FORCED TO LAND.

US military officials have been "questions and released".

    This happened YESTERDAY.

She just said "five crew" and then she said "a US Falcon".

    Hmmm... Don't think so.

Sounds more like an unarmed aircraft, like a C-130 which usually has 5 crew members.

Iran: US Warplane 'Forced To Land'

    http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Wor...o_Land_In_Iran

    Breaking News

    2:22pm UK, Tuesday October 07, 2008

A US fighter jet has been forced to land in Iran after violating the country's territory, according to an Iranian news agency.

The agency added that the incursion was unintentional, and those on board were questioned and released.

It said five senior US military officials were interrogated at an Iranian airport, but allowed to leave the following day after it became clear the incursion had been a mistake.

However, a Pentagon spokesman said it was unaware of any US warplanes being forced to land in Iran.

All US aircraft in the region have been accounted for.

I thought she said 5 people? (Maybe 8)

Anyway, if the plane was "forced down" it was likely unarmed as was the Navy plane China forced down.

If there was more than two people, it wasn't an F-16.

If there were 5 people it could have been a C-130 (typically they have about 5 crew members)

Either way the crew "was released".... So, was the plane?

    Questions, questions.

Iran says it forced down US warplane

    Reuters

The Iran News Agency sats a US warplane violated the country's territory and was forced to land.

The agency said five senior US military officials had been interrogated at an Iranian airport and released a day later after it became clear that the plane had not entered intentionally.

But the Pentagon says that all its aircraft in the region were accounted for and that it had no reports of an Iran landing.

The incident came as Iran accused six major powers of "unreasonable behaviour" over its disputed nuclear programme, although the European Union said today it would stick to a dual approach combining diplomacy with the threat of sanctions.

Tehran's accusation was contained in a letter from its top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, that was delivered to European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana yesterday.

"It's a letter that in a way complains about our policy but our policy is clear. It's a double-track approach," Solana told Reuters in Berlin on Tuesday.

Asked whether the letter would make negotiations with Iran more difficult, Solana replied: "It's just a letter."

The United States and other western powers suspect Tehran is seeking a nuclear bomb under cover of its civilian nuclear programme. Iran, the world's fourth-largest oil producer, denies it has any such intentions, saying it only wants to generate electricity.

Jalili's letter, a copy of which was obtained by Reuters, was addressed through Solana to foreign ministers of the six-power group consisting of the United States, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany.

In June, the six gave Iran a beefed-up offer of political and economic incentives, including nuclear reactors, in exchange for suspending its uranium enrichment programme.

Iran responded at the time with a non-committal letter. The group of six handed the United Nations Security Council a toothless draft resolution on Iran's nuclear programme in September after Washington, facing stiff Russian opposition, failed to secure agreement for fresh sanctions.

"In the judgment of the world community, this unreasonable behaviour is an indication of the lack of a clear response to the principled questions of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Jalili said in the letter.

Iran has shown no sign of compromise, vowing to resist U.S. "bullying" to force it to abandon its right to develop peaceful nuclear technology. Enrichment is at the heart of the dispute because it can be used either to provide reactor fuel or - if the uranium is purified to a much higher degree - to supply the fissile material for a nuclear bomb.

Jalili said "logical behaviour" by major powers could pave the ground for constructive talks to remove international concerns over the country's nuclear work.

Solana, representing the six powers, and Jalili last discussed Tehran's nuclear programme by telephone in August.

"It is interesting ... to see that in the course of talks ... the other party (the major powers) ... resorts to levers of pressure instead of offering answers to questions and trying to remove ambiguities," Jalili said.

A senior Iranian official said Jalili's letter would also be delivered to the Swiss embassy in Tehran on Tuesday. Switzerland represents US interests in Iran since Washington severed ties with Tehran shortly after its 1979 Islamic revolution.

FOX just reported that "There were no US military personnel involved in this incident" whatever this incident was.

It appears the "Falcon" is a French business aircraft and it may have had some military people, perhaps in uniform, in the plane, but Pentagon is saying it wasn't US people.

So, this sounds like something the iranians (and media) are blowing out of proportion.

Iran report says U.S. plane violated Iran's airspace

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon denied on Tuesday an Iranian news report that a U.S. military aircraft had violated Iranian territory and had been forced to land in Iran, saying all American planes were accounted for.

"All aircraft in the region are accounted for and we have no reports of any aircraft landing in Iran," Lt. Col. Patrick Ryder told reporters.

"I haven't heard anything like that," said Pentagon Bryan Whitman.

The Iran news agency reported earlier that a U.S. warplane had violated Iranian territory and had been forced to land in Iran.

Nothing to see here. Just a civilian aircraft that got into the wrong airspace.

Officials: Plane Forced to Land in Iran Was Hungarian
A plane forced to land in Iran after it accidentally entered Iranian airspace was a Hungarian aid plane, and not a U.S. aircraft as originally reported Tuesday by a state news agency, FOX News confirmed.

The semi-official Fars news agency in Iran reported Tuesday that a U.S. Military plane with American personnel on board was forced to land there.

But the U.S. Defense Department told FOX News that there was no evidence that the Iranian reports were true and was looking into the incident.

"We're looking into the various and conflicting reports coming from the Iranian "news" agencies, but do not have any information at this time that would lead us to believe they are correct," National Security spokesman Gordon Johndroe said.

    Iran also denied the reports.

The aircraft was a Hungarian aid plane with no Americans on board, a senior Iranian official told FOX News' Amy Kellogg in Tehran, adding that the incident took place on Sept. 30.

Fars reported that Iranian fighters guided the plane to an Iranian airport, where the passengers were questioned and released a day later.
