Beyonce: "A Black Wonder Woman Would Be a Powerful Thing"

Beyonce Knowles wants to be the first black actress to play Wonder Woman on the big screen.

"A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It's time for that, right?" Knowles says in an interview with the LA Times.

For her role as Etta James in the upcoming drama Cadillac Records, Knowles had to pack on 20 pounds. Though the actress is in fighting shape now, she acknowledges the red, white and blue bathing suit is an "unforgiving" one.

"I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume," she admitted.

"The way that Lynda Carter wore it, she was sooo fine. She was amazing.

I saw her costume at the Met. Her waist was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy, actually, her proportions."

Knowles said she was inspired to play a superhero while filming a fight scene with Ali Larter in Obsessed.

"It took us days just to film it. I had my boots on and, wow, I got into it," Knowles told the L.A. Times. "So I really want that now. Now I have to do an action film. It's like dancing and choreography. And the superhero movies now, they're not corny, not corny at all, so that's what I want to do. And I would love if it could be Wonder Woman."

I would have hoped they could have found someone a little more attractive or at least fitting the Wonder Woman image. But don't ask me who: I don't keep up with that sort of thing (the who's who of Hollywood)anymore.

Beyonce is a very attractive woman but, given that comic fans are pretty dedicated to their specific comic, deviating from canon (such as making Wonder Woman black) could mean disaster for a film.
