Why does President Barack Obama want Leon Panetta to be Secretary of Defense?



Anyone familiar with Panetta’s record as a Congressman in the 1980s knows that Panetta is both a leftist and markedly hostile towards the US military establishment.

Panetta has no military backgound. he has a Budget background. He was once head of the Office of Budget Management.

What does this suggest to you?

Was Panetta specifically chosen to oversee large cuts in the US defense budget?

At a time when the US is facing Islamic terrorism, an increasingly belligerent China, a resurgent Russia, and an ongoing “red tide” in Latin America, has Leon Panetta been commissioned to take a scythe to the US Defense budget?

Mark Rudd predicted this possibility just before the 2008 election.



Mark Rudd is a former leader of the terrorist Weather Underground. In 2006, he joined with a whole bunch of communists and socialists, including his old comrades and Presidential pals Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn to found an activist umbrella organization – the Movement for a Democratic Society. In 2008, that organization begat Progressives for Obama, which Mark Rudd happily endorsed.

Mark Rudd is in a unique position to understand Obama’s long term strategy.

Mark Rudd wrote this analysis just after the 2008 elections. Note what Rudd says about defense:

Obama is a very strategic thinker. He knew precisely what it would take to get elected and didn’t blow it. He used community organizing methods to mobilize a base consisting of many people who had never voted before or who regularly don’t vote….But he also knew that what he said had to basically play to the center to not be run over by the press, the Republicans, scare centrist and cross-over voters away. He made it.

So he has a narrow mandate for change, without any direction specified. What he’s doing now is moving on the most popular issues — the environment, health care, and the economy. He’ll be progressive on the environment because that has broad popular support; health care will be extended to children, then made universal, but the medical, pharmaceutical, and insurance corporations will stay in place, perhaps yielding some power; the economic agenda will stress stimulation from the bottom sometimes and handouts to the top at other times. It will be pragmatic…

And I agree with this strategy. Anything else will court sure defeat. Move on the stuff you can to a small but significant extent, gain support and confidence. Leave the military alone because they’re way too powerful. For now, until enough momentum is raised. By the second or third year of this recession, when stimulus is needed at the bottom, people may begin to discuss cutting the military budget if security is being increased through diplomacy and application of nascent international law.

Obama plays basketball. I’m not much of an athlete, barely know the game, but one thing I do know is that you have to be able to look like you’re doing one thing but do another. That’s why all these conservative appointments are important: the strategy is feint to the right, move left. Any other strategy invites sure defeat. It would be stupid to do otherwise in this environment…

By the second or third year of this recession, when stimulus is needed at the bottom, people may begin to discuss cutting the military budget…

That, in my opinion sums up what this great game is all about. America’s enemies know that America can only be destroyed if its military is humbled, heavily reduced in size and capability.

Americans will only accept the gutting of their military capability, if the economy is so fragile and prospects so dire, that they will be willing to sacrifice national security to ease the economic pain.

In the last two years the Obama Administration has done everything it could to indebt and impoverish America and Americans.

Now it is time for the socialists to harvest the fruits of their efforts.

Leon Panetta, a leftist, with ties to communists, socialists and one degree of separation from several Soviet and/or Chinese agents, may well turn out to be the Grim Reaper.

“I can tell you directly — I would like Barack Obama to be re-elected president of the United States maybe more than someone else,” Medvedev said in an interview with the Financial Times whose full transcript was released by the Kremlin early Monday.

“If another person becomes US president then he may have another course,” he said.

“We understand that there are representatives of a rather conservative wing there who are trying to achieve their political goals at the expense of inflaming passions in relation to Russia, among other things.

“But what use is criticising them? This is simply a way of achieving political goals.”

Moscow, Russia – A Russian government official bragged that Barack Obama was a KGB operative and that his presidency had been planned since birth, an American physicist and government contractor reports.

Tom Fife, an American computer networking specialist and international businessman, reported the alarming facts about the Kremlin’s connection to Barack Obama. The boast from a Communist Party official reportedly occurred during a business trip to Russia, 16 years before Barack Obama was ushered into the presidency of the United States.

“It was like an elastic band snapping all the way from 1992,” Fife shakily admitted, upon recall of the exact moment he realized the Communist official had been telling the truth. “It was a very, very scary feeling.”

Fife, a physicist and computer engineer, had been traveling to Russia for a joint venture with a state-owned company when the shocking revelation was revealed to him. After several business meetings, Fife and his partner were invited to the company owner’s home at the end of the journey for a farewell dinner.

The owner’s wife was a Communist Party official and was “climbing two ladders”, as Fife puts it, one ladder being the KGB and the other being the traditional Russian society and business ladder. As the evening wore on, the female Communist official became increasingly agitated over a perceived slight and her emotions spilled over.

“You Americans like to think you’re so perfect!” she snarled. “Well, what if I told you that very, very soon you’re going to have a black president… and he’s going to be a Communist!”

The KGB operative was not finished. As she had now dropped this bombshell on the entire gathering, she felt compelled to continue.

“His name is Barack,” she sneered. “His mother is white and his father is an African black. He has gone to the best schools, he is what you would call ‘Ivy League’.”

Fife recalls being stunned and shocked at the words flowing from the Communist’s mouth as she continued to rattle off an incredibly precise set of details about this Communist operative who was to supposedly become president of the United States.



The Communist official then stated that he was from Hawaii, but would very soon be elected to the Chicago state legislature. This has turned out to be an eerily prescient prediction, as Barack Obama was not elected State Senator until 1996, a full 4 years afterwards, as he took Alice Palmer’s seat.

In 1992, Obama had recently graduated from Harvard Law School and accepted a position as a Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School.

Perhaps the most shocking revelation is how deep the Soviet Communist network has embedded itself into American political and educational culture.

A quick review of Obama’s political “career” shows a track that was inexplicably greased, from his tuition payments at Columbia and Harvard, to a position at UOC Law School, to his eventual electoral “victories” at the Illinois State Senate, United States Senate, and U.S. Presidency.

Barack Obama’s parents ostensibly met in a Russian language class. This could have been where his mother was recruited by Barack Obama Sr, who could have already been working undercover for the KGB.

In order to brainwash the child from an early age, they surrounded him with diehard Communists and fellow KGB agents, such as Frank Marshall Davis, a known Communist Party USA official. The Soviet KGB directly funded the CPUSA. This would fit directly into what the Russian Communist said about ‘Barack’, boasting “He has been raised to be an atheist and a communist.”

“He will be a blessing for world communism,” Fife recalled her saying, after getting over the initial shock of hearing the current president was a KGB agent.

The creepy prediction stayed with the physicist upon his return to the United States, although he paid it no mind until he began to hear of an swiftly rising political star named Barack Obama. When Fife learned that this same Barack was running in the 2008 presidential election, everything snapped into place and he knew he had to tell someone.

Today, Fife admits that it deeply disturbs him and that he has never been able to shake the ominous feeling of foreboding about what comes next, now that the KGB official’s prediction has come true.

“It never leaves you, having someone tell you that they’ve engineered the takeover of your country,” he admits. “It’s really quite scary.”

I am with Ryan on this, though I am not thinking a one up, as the article states a 'perceived slight' that urged her to lash out to the American businessman and physicist. Agreed on stranger things have happened, though.

As it is just one mans story and no way to prove it as true, it is hearsay and would require 'belief' in a non proven, however believable, story. That is what makes it a conspiracy theory in how Rick asked it.

Belief is a beneficial and dangerous thing. It can have a sane man seem to move mountains due to pure conviction, but by that same coin, it can drive a madman or terrorist to do the unthinkable because they believe what they are told.

Much as you'd like to believe in TV movies and TV spies, it simply doesn't work that way. The intelligence folks I've known, when working don't start drinking (a lot) and covers aren't blown that easily. Also, most don't admit working for the CIA and never will admit having worked for them. Most "work for someone else". Be it the military, State Department, or some other more innocuous agency, they don't "work for the CIA".

I hear and understand the concerns about being cautions to believe one mans story of an event he recalled nearly 20 years ago predicting that Obama would be President.

In late 2008 this was an interesting but uncorroborated puzzle piece from a yet to be formed Obama Administration.

It's not just an alleged Russian Communist party official's prediction that Obama would be elected, it's Obama's actions once he got into power and the puzzle pieces that continue to emerge from Obama every single day since that gives Tom's story more credibility.

A Republican would have been drummed out of office for a fraction of what Obama has done in 2 years.

I see Michael's point now. I guess he wasn't clear, or I didn't get what he was getting at.

Actually.... think about it though. If you "spill the operational beans" (which happen to be FALSE to begin with, or at least can be brought into question) by giving them to a "discredited" person (let's say Alex Jones for instance)... then what have you done?

You've given away a direct, and perhaps TRUE secret which a guy who has no standing with pretty much anyone but other kooks - it makes the kook look even KOOKIER. Anyone that listens to him can be placed in the same category (kook) and called a KOOK by everyone else.

Thus the good guys who should really be digging deeper blow it off as nonsense (like I'm doing now).
