You are correct they changed the law recently that if you travel back and forth between Mexico and Canada you had to have a passport.

As of Tuesday, Jan. 23, all U.S. citizens are required to have a passport for re-entry into the United States from Mexico, Canada or any other place in the Western Hemisphere when traveling by airplane.

U.S. Citizens now need papers but the masses of non-citizens usually don't arrive to this country by plane.

After half a century of fighting encroachments upon freedom in America, journalist Garet Garrett published "The People's Pottage." A year later, in 1954, he died. "The People's Pottage" opens thus:

"There are those who still think they are holding the pass against a revolution that may be coming up the road. But they are gazing in the wrong direction. The revolution is behind them. It went by in the Night of Depression, singing songs to freedom."

Garrett wrote of a revolution within the form. While outwardly America appeared the same, a revolution within had taken place that was now irreversible. One need only glance at where we were before the New Deal, where we are and where we are headed to see how far we are off the course the Founding Fathers set for our republic.

Taxes drove the American Revolution, for we were a taxaphobic, liberty-loving people. That government is best that governs least is an Americanism. When "Silent Cal" Coolidge went home in 1929, the U.S. government was spending 3 percent of gross domestic product.

And today? Obama's first budget will consume 28 percent of the entire GDP; state and local governments another 15 percent. While there is some overlap, in 2009, government will consume 40 percent of GDP, approaching the peak of World War II.

Tell Congress to stop spending America into the ground! Sign the WND petition demanding lawmakers stop the bailouts, stimulus bills and march toward socialism and national destruction.

The deficit for 2009 is $1.8 trillion, 13 percent of the whole economy.

Obama is pushing a cap-and-trade bill to cut carbon emissions that will impose huge costs on energy production, spike consumer prices and drive production offshore to China, which is opting out of Kyoto II. The Chinese are not fools.

Obama plans to repeal the Bush tax cuts and take the income tax rate to near 40 percent. Combined state and local income tax rates can run to 10 percent. For the self-employed, payroll taxes add up to 15.2 percent on the first $106,800 for all wages of all workers. Medicare takes 2.9 percent of all wages above that. Then there are the state sales taxes that can run to 8 percent, property taxes, gas taxes, excise taxes and "sin taxes" on booze, cigarettes and, soon, hot dogs and soft drinks.

Comes now national health insurance from Nancy Pelosi's House. A surtax that runs to 5.4 percent of all earnings of the top 1 percent of Americans, who already pay 40 percent of all federal income taxes, has been sent to the Senate. Included also is an 8 percent tax on the entire payroll of small businesses that fail to provide health insurance for employees.

Other ideas on the table include taxing the health benefits that businesses provide their employees.

The D.C.-based Tax Foundation says New Yorkers could face a combined income tax rate of near 60 percent.

In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson called George III a tyrant for having "erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people and eat out their substance."

What did George III do with his Stamp Act, Townshend Acts or tea tax to compare with what is being done to this generation of Americans by their own government?

While the hardest-working and most productive are bled, a third of all wage-earners pay no U.S. income tax, and Obama plans to free almost half of all wage-earners of all income taxes. Yet, tens of millions get Medicaid, rent supplements, free education, food stamps, welfare and an annual check from Uncle Sam called an Earned Income Tax Credit, though they never paid a nickel in income taxes.

Oh, yes. Obama also promises everybody a college education.

Coming to America to feast on this cornucopia of freebies is the world.

One million to 2 million immigrants, legal and illegal, arrive every year.

They come with fewer skills and less education than Americans, and consume more tax dollars than they contribute by three to one.

Wise Latina women have more babies north of the border than they do in Mexico and twice as many here as American women.

As almost all immigrants are now Third World people of color, they qualify for ethnic preferences in hiring and promotions and admissions to college over the children of Americans.

All of this would have astounded and appalled the Founding Fathers, who after all, created America – as they declared loud and clear in the Constitution – "for ourselves and our posterity."

China saves, invests and grows at 8 percent. America, awash in debt, has a shrinking economy, a huge trade deficit, a gutted industrial base, an unemployment rate surging toward 10 percent and a money supply that's swollen to double its size in a year. The 20th century may have been the American Century. The 21st shows another pattern.

"The United States is declining as a nation and a world power with mostly sighs and shrugs to mark this seismic event," writes Les Gelb, president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, in CFR's Foreign Affairs magazine. "Astonishingly, some people do not appear to realize that the situation is all that serious."

Even the establishment is starting to get the message.

Gingrich: Democrats Want to Impose 'Secular-Socialist Machine'

Democrats are trying to impose a "secular-socialist machine" rejected by most Americans, an unapologetic Newt Gingrich said Sunday.

The former House speaker described Democrats as "secular" because those in power in government are beset by a "relentless anti-religious bias"; "socialist" because the Obama administration wants to determine salaries, own corporations and provide health care; and a "machine" because the agenda is being pushed robotically without concern for people standing in the way.

"When you have a pay czar in the White House who thinks that they have enough power and knowledge to set the salaries for hundreds of people in dozens of companies, in an industry they've never been in -- I mean, if that's not socialist -- if the government is the largest owner of General Motors and Chrysler, the largest funder of AIG -- they just nationalized student loans so they're now all 100 percent government program," Gingrich told "Fox News Sunday."

"If you can get $757 billion out of the Congress and no elected official has even read the bill, that's the behavior of a Chicago-style machine," Gingrich added.

Gingrich, who just published the explosive book “To Save America,” cited polls showing greater than 50 percent of Americans want to repeal the health care law.

He also noted that a federal judge has declared the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional, "which if it weren't so serious it would be laughable."

Gingrich described the case of two Connecticut lawmakers who have introduced legislation that would keep Catholics from working in emergency rooms because of their objections to performing certain procedures.

Gingrich said that he stands by his argument that the "secular-socialist machine" represents as great a threat to America as Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union, not in the sense of the immorality of those deadly regimes, but as a "threat to our way of life."

"The degree to which the secular-socialist left represents a fundamental replacement of America, a very different world view, a very different outcome, I think is a very serious threat to our way of life.

Echoing Republican arguments of the 1980s, Gingrich also is calling for the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Education to be abolished and replaced. He said it's impossible to reform an agency that has spent two generations recruiting antibusiness, anticommercial bureaucrats.

On Social Security, Gingrich said he wants people to be able to manage their own accounts based on their personal contributions to the fund. Returning to the question of whether the stock market is a safe enough place to house retirement investments given recent volatility,
Gingrich said someone retiring today who has been investing for 30 years is ahead of the current "transfer system."

"When Social Security paid its first check, there were 42 taxpayers for every recipient. When my grandchildren, who are eight and 10, get to be Social Security recipients, there may well be two taxpayers for every recipient. You can't sustain that," he said.

Education Portland State University Offering ‘Revolutionary Marxism’ Course — And Wait Until You See the Syllabus

Portland State University is offering a number of controversial courses this semester, the likes of which include “Revolutionary Marxism: Theory and Practice,“ and ”Art Within Activism” (though students are also welcome to take “Exploring Buffy the Vampire Slayer”).



The “Revolutionary Marxism” course is introduced in what appears to be the syllabus:

The onset of the Arab Spring, revolts in European capitals against austerity, and the emergence of Occupy Wall Street here in the US have made the need for understanding revolutionary political theories [more] urgent than ever.
This course is designed to introduce students to the basic concepts of Marxist thought with an emphasis on the practical applications of Marxist Theory in local political struggle. We will focus on four major areas throughout the semester, including the Fundamentals of Marxist Theory, Marxism and Oppression, Revolutionary Practice, and The Future of Socialism. In exploring these four areas of focus, the course will compare and contrast revolutionary Marxism to Stalinism, reformist socialism, leading academic interpretations of Marxism, as well as other radical leftist ideologies. [Emphasis added]

The course’s instructors, Grant Booth and Wael Elasady, are both admitted socialists. They define the course’s goals as:

1. Students will learn the fundamentals of Marxist theory
2. Students will apply a Marxist analysis to current events
3. Students will apply Marxist theory to local political and community organizing

Moreover, students will seemingly be required to forge a “community connection” with a local community/political organization from a specified list. Some of the “approved” organizations include: Occupy PSU, Students United for Palestinian Equal Rights, Occupy Portland, Portland Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions Coalition (BDS), Jobs with Justice, and the May Day Coalition.

Similarly, the “Art Within Activism” course is described:

Rediscover your radical imagination! This course will focus on creating art within Portland-based activist initiatives, such as marches, actions, and causes different grassroots community groups are working on, like the Occupy and Decolonize movements. We will experiment with applying diverse mediums—graphic design, social practice, printmaking, and sculpture—to actions seeking to resolve diverse problems—hegemony, biodiversity loss, immigrant detention, animal exploitation, debt, insufficient healthcare, etc.

The controversial courses are part of the Chiron Studies program, where qualified students can “propose and instruct official, for credit classes” with the university.

Someone at the school recently took some video of the marketing material for the courses:

The Blaze attempted to contact numerous officials in charge of approving the courses, in addition to Wael Elasady (who teaches the “Revolutionary Marxism” course), in order to confirm the course details, but we did not hear back.

That leaves a lot of unanswered questions, such as: Why is the taxpayer helping pay for these courses at a public university? With socialist professors and mandated participation with leftist groups, is the other side being presented at all?

Moreover, would Portland State University allow a “Limited Government: Theory and Practice“ course where students were forced to make a ”connection” with Tea Partiers and the NRA?

And when coupled with the likes of “Exploring Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” it’s not hard to figure out why the U.S. education system is under fire.

I remember asking dad about Castro when I was about 9 years old. I

asked, "Is Castro a good guy or bad?"


Dad said...he couldn't tell!! This was about 1955. We were living in

Louisiana ...at the time. Dad was in the Army there.


Cuba was fairly close and in the news a lot. The Cubans were asking

the same question! Ike was president.


This past July, we had the pleasure of sharing a summer barbecue with

a refugee from Cuba . Our dinner conversation was starkly different

than most.


This refugee came to the United States as a young boy in the early

1960's. His family was more fortunate than most, as they were able to

bring a suitcase...and $100 when they fled Castro's newly formed

revolutionary paradise.


Our dinner consisted of all-American fare: hamburgers, potato salad,

watermelon and fresh ears of sweet corn. This is a menu shared with

family and friends nationwide...while celebrating the birth of our

beloved America ...on the Fourth of July.


We began with a simple discussion about our country, and the direction

it has taken since Barack Obama came to power. We shared the usual

complaints about the sour economy and liberal social engineering

emanating from the rulers in Washington .


But then he said it. The sentence came naturally. I assume it was

unplanned. But it carried the weight of a freight train. "You know

when Castro took power, none of us knew he was a Communist".


We sat stunned. He continued, "Yes, we all thought he was a patriot, a

nationalist. Before the revolution he didn't sound like a radical."


The comparison at this point was easy, and I interjected, "You mean

just like Barack Obama?"


He responded; "Yes, just like Barack Obama."


He continued, "We were all shocked as the government just continued to

grab more power. First they said the revolution is over, so please

turn in your guns. We all complied."


I remember my uncle saying after it started; Castro will only

nationalize some of the big industries. He will never come and take

our family hardware store!! But that is exactly what happened.

Castro started with the sugar mills and the large industries, but they

eventually came and knocked on the door of our family hardware store.

My family had run this store for generations. They said we now own the

hardware store, you work for us. And that nice, large four-bedroom

home you own...it is now our property also, and...you can move

yourself and five children into two rooms of the house, because others

are moving in with you."


The lesson learned from this discussion, is a lesson most Americans

refuse to hear. Political leaders can lie about their agenda and once

in office...they can take totally unexpected turns.


If you had asked us three years ago if we thought General Motors would

be nationalized, we would have never believed it. We could never

contemplate a country where the rule of law, the most fundamental

building block of a justice society...would be evaporating, just like

it did in Castro's Cuba in the early 1960's.


But the news of injustice keeps increasing. Black Panthers are not

charged with wrong doing by the U.S. Department of Justice...because

their crimes are against whites. The bondholders of GM are stripped of

their assets...without due process by the government! Governmental

leaders are bribed in full daylight...only to have all investigation

of the crimes stifled...by the Attorney General.


The U.S. borders are over run with crime and illegal activity, and the

leaders in D.C. act as if it is important to protect the

lawbreakers...while the innocent are killed and over run . When local

communities attempt to enforce the law, they are ridiculed...and

threatened as racists and bigots . They are sued by the very

administration...entrusted with enforcing the law .


Without the rule of law, the U.S. Constitution is a sham!! Without the

rule of law, our beloved America is swiftly becoming a country where

only the well connected and politically powerful will be safe. As

Michelle Malkin has so eloquently explained in her recent book... a

culture of corruption has replaced honest government .


The only way this problem will be fixed, is by massive citizen action.

All honest citizens that want to be treated equally, must come

together...and demand that the favoritism, the bribes, the uneven

enforcement of law...end now!! And yes, it can happen here .

Meet the leading candidate to become the new Democratic National Committee chairman, Keith “Bluto” Ellison. He’s also a U.S. Congressman representing the 5th district of Minnesota.





Already known for his proposal to create a separate country for blacks inside the United States, fueled by cash reparations paid from whites to blacks, another gem from this elected official has surfaced regarding World War II and the sitting congressman’s lack of basic American and world history knowledge.
