Default Bill creates Camps in U.S. for 'Emergencies'

This subject is the stuff of tinfoil and urban legends but why the legislation push now for such areas?

Once again, interesting or amusing during a Rep Administration but under the occupation of this new line up of Socialists creates a totally different landscape.

Bill creates 'Nazi' camps in U.S. for 'emergencies'
Sweeping, undefined purpose raises worries about military police state

    By Jerome R. Corsi
    WorldNetDaily

Rep. Alcee L. Hastings, D-Fla., has introduced to the House of Representatives a new bill, H.R. 645, calling for the secretary of homeland security to establish no fewer than six national emergency centers for corralling civilians on military installations.

The proposed bill, which has received little mainstream media attention, appears designed to create the type of detention center that those concerned about use of the military in domestic affairs fear could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents, such as occurred in Nazi Germany.

The bill also appears to expand the president's emergency power, much as the executive order signed by President Bush on May 9, 2007, that – as WND reported – gave the president the authority to declare an emergency and take over the direction of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments without even consulting Congress.

As WND also reported, DHS has awarded a $385 million contract to Houston-based KBR, Halliburton's former engineering and construction subsidiary, to build temporary detention centers on an "as-needed" basis in national emergency situations.

According to the text of the proposed bill, the purpose of the National Emergency Centers is "to provide temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due to an emergency or major disaster."

Three additional purposes are specified in the text of the proposed legislation:
    • To provide centralized locations for the purposes of training and ensuring the coordination of federal, state and local first responders;
    • To provide centralized locations to improve the coordination of preparedness, response and recovery efforts of government, private, not-for-profit entities and faith-based organizations;
    • To meet other appropriate needs, as defined by the secretary of homeland security.

The broad specifications of the bill's language, however, contribute to concern that the "national emergency" purpose could be utilized by the secretary of homeland security to include any kind of situation the government wants to contain or otherwise control.

Rep. Hastings created controversy during the 2008 presidential campaign with his provocative comments concerning Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

"If Sarah Palin isn't enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention," Hastings said, as reported by ABC News. "Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don't care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through."

H.R. 645, which seeks to allocate $360 million for developing the emergency centers, has been referred to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and to the Committee on Armed Services.

I question the significance of that piece, it appears to have been written sometime in the early/mid 1990;s based off a statement in the Indiana section.

Maybe the camps are for the bad guys, and the good guys will win. Or they could be for sheltering tired, poor, huddled masses, yearning to be free.

California capital approves plan to close 'tent city'

By Associated Press | Wednesday, March 25, 2009 12:47 PM PDT

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento City Council has agreed to move about 150 people from a homeless encampment that put the city in the international spotlight.

The council approved a proposal by Mayor Kevin Johnson to add beds at local shelters and close the so-called "tent city" by the end of April.

The tents and tarpaulins about a mile northeast of the Capitol drew widespread attention after they were featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" last month.

The city of 476,000 had about 2,700 homeless people last year.

The plan approved Tuesday calls for the city to spend $880,000 and Sacramento County to add $150,000. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was scheduled to visit one of the shelters Wednesday.

Folks are losing their homes but no tents or shanties allowed. Families will find themselves amongst the tens of thousands of criminals they let out in these homeless camps.

Schwarzenegger Opens California Fairgrounds to Homeless Camp

    By Michael B. Marois

March 25 (Bloomberg) -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said a make-shift tent city for the homeless that sprang up in the capital city of Sacramento will be shut down and its residents allowed to stay at the state fairgrounds.

Schwarzenegger said he ordered the state facility known as Cal-Expo to be used for three months to serve the 125 tent city residents, some of them displaced by the economic recession. The encampment may be shut down within a month, said Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. The move comes after the Sacramento City Council last night agreed to spend $880,000 to expand homeless programs.

“Together with the local government and volunteers, we are taking a first step to ensure the people living in tent city have a safe place to stay, with fresh water, healthy conditions and access to the services they need,”

Schwarzenegger said in a statement. “And I am committed to working with Mayor Johnson to find a permanent solution for those living in tent city.”

California, home to one of every eight Americans, has been particularly hard hit by the housing market collapse after many residents turned to exotic mortgages to afford homes. The tent city, which has long existed along the banks of the America River, gained national attention last month when some of its recently homeless residents were featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

The state has one of the highest rates of foreclosure, according to RealtyTrac Inc., an Irvine, California-based seller of real estate data.

California home prices dropped 41 percent last month from a year earlier, more than double the U.S. decline, as surging foreclosures drove down values, the state Association of Realtors said today.

    State Unemployment

The state’s unemployment rate rose to 10.5 percent in February, as construction, financial and manufacturing companies eliminated jobs, leaving the most-populous U.S. state with one of the nation’s worst job markets.

The shelter at Cal-Exp currently houses about 150 people. It will be expanded by another 50 beds, and will include facilities for families with children.

Tent City residents gather as the city of Ontario starts the process of sorting out who may stay and who must leave. The city issued wristbands – blue for Ontario residents, who may stay, orange for people who need to provide more documentation, and white for those who must leave. The aim is to reduce the number of people living there from over 400 to 170.

Officials begin thinning out the encampment, saying the city can provide space only for those who once lived there and can prove it.

Dozens of Ontario police and code enforcement officers descended upon the homeless encampment known as Tent City early Monday, separating those who could stay from those to be evicted.

Large, often confused, crowds formed ragged lines behind police barricades where officers handed out color-coded wristbands. Blue meant they were from Ontario and could remain. Orange indicated they had to provide more proof to avoid ejection, and white meant they had a week to leave.

Many who had taken shelter at the camp -- which had grown from 20 to more than 400 residents in nine months -- lacked paperwork, bills or birth certificates proving they were once Ontario residents.

"When my husband gets out of jail he can bring my marriage certificate; will that count?" asked one tearful woman.

Another resident, clearly confused, seemed relieved to get a white band -- not understanding it meant she had to leave.

Pattie Barnes, 47, who had her motor home towed away last week, shook with anger.

"They are tagging us because we are homeless," she said, staring at her orange wristband. "It feels like a concentration camp."

Ontario officials, citing health and safety issues, say it is necessary to thin out Tent City. The move to dramatically reduce the population curtails an experiment begun last year to provide a city-approved camp where homeless people would not be harassed.

Land that includes tents, toilets and water had been set aside near Ontario International Airport for the homeless. Officials intended to limit the camp and its amenities to local homeless people, but did little to enforce that as the site rapidly expanded, attracting people from as far away as Florida.

"We have to be sensitive, and we will give people time to locate documents," said Brent Schultz, the city's housing and neighborhood revitalization director. "But we have always said this was for Ontario's homeless and not the region's homeless. We can't take care of the whole area."

Officials believe the local homeless number about 140, less than half of those currently in residence. Schultz wants to reduce Tent City to 170 people in a regulated, fenced-off area rather than the sprawling open-air campsite it has become.

No other city has offered to take in any of the homeless who Ontario officials say must leave.

"So far I have heard nothing," Schultz said.

Even before the large-scale action Monday, police last week moved out parolees and towed about 20 dilapidated motor homes. A list of safety rules, including one banning pets, has been posted. The city says there is a threat of dog bites and possible disease from the animals.

The no-pet order caused widespread anger and tears Monday as some homeless people said they could not imagine life without their dogs. Many have three or four and vowed to leave Tent City before giving the dogs up.

"I will go to jail before they take my dog," said an emotional Diane Ritchey, 47. "That's a part of me as much as anything. The dogs are as homeless as we are."

Cindy Duke, 40, hugged Ritchey, who was sobbing.

"I had to give up my 6-year-old son because I was homeless and I'll be damned if I give up my dog too," Duke said.

Celeste Trettin, 53, rolled up in a wheelchair. She and her husband have an Ontario address but have lived for years in a truck, parking wherever they found a safe place. Trettin, who got an orange wristband, said she believed she would be able to find the paperwork to prove she was from Ontario.

"We thought if we came here we could save some money, but now they have pulled the rug out from under us," said Trettin, who has fibromyalgia, a painful disorder.

Marty Tovar took it all in stride. The 53-year old Mentone man had fresh bumps and cuts on his face after being on the receiving end of a recent assault. He didn't seem to care if he had to leave.

"It doesn't anger me; it angers a lot of other people here but not me," he said, wearing no shirt under his blue overalls. "If I got to go I'll just catch the next bus to the next town. Every town has a park."

Still, by noon only one man had taken up an offer of free taxi rides back to their home cities, returning the 50 miles to Victorville, said Det. Jeff Higbee, spokesman for the Ontario police.

"By next Monday we should have everyone who is supposed to be gone out of here," Higbee said. "The wristbands are only temporary so we can identify everyone."

As the local homeless people were separated from the others, city workers were busy setting up fencing for the new encampment. Those who are approved will get 90-day renewable permits to stay.

Peter Bibring, staff attorney with the America Civil Liberties Union of Southern California, toured Tent City and spoke with local officials.

"We are concerned that however they go about trying to reduce this population they don't depend on arrests or property seizures for people who have no other place to go and are just looking for a place to sleep," he said. "We will continue to monitor the situation."

Although no one at the camp seemed happy about efforts to shrink Tent City, some tried to see Ontario's point of view.

Tina Gove, 39, was evicted from her Pomona home and has been at the encampment for three months. Like many others in Tent City, her life has been marked by drug problems and mental illness.

Her four children, she said, were taken from her because of a past methamphetamine addiction.

"If they throw me out I'll be back on the street, and I don't want to be back on the street because it's scary," she said. "But I think we should all be grateful because if Ontario hadn't opened this place for us, where would we be today?"

Do you think this a Hal Turner regurgitation from Epoch Times??

JR Nyquist had some of the same information in his article.

PLA's plans for defeating America- asymetric, though- palestinian or peoples?

Yup- i read these before. Learn sumthin every day though. I was unaware that "lung transplants" even existed. I'd rather fight than switch. Death due to general anesthesia still lingers at the 1 in 10,000 mark.

Actually, I think Glenn Beck did himself and others a diservice bowing out on the fema camp revelations. Ok so the camps exist, they are "civil defense emergency contingency" plans in case of emp, large scale dirty bomb or chem-bio attacks. Is that too spooky?

What? No black ops or red, blue yellow dots. And yes- their will be a mix of good guys and bad guys in and out the camps.

Actually, I read the china death trucks before too. But not the slice and dice method they used to use. Sick people. Maybe that's why Kissinger decided to visit- visit the sick- a fine Christian gesture.

SIGN THE PETITION, WHICH WILL BE HAND- DELIVERED TO ONTARIO CITY REPRESENTATIVES:
Demand Ontario CA Give Back Homeless People's Vehicles and Property
"We understand that one city alone cannot accommodate everyone in need. However, we urge the city of Ontario to treat people with the dignity and respect they deserve. We hereby request that the homeless people's vehicles, children and pets, if taken, be returned to them at no cost and that the city give them time to find other accommodations."
To: The Ontario, CA Mayor, City Council, Police Chief, State and Federal Representatives
CC: The Catholic Archdiocese of San Bernardino
[contact information for all of these people is below].
The L.A. Times ran an article March 18 titled 'Ontario residents only' at Tent City. The article reports "Even before the large-scale action Monday, police last week moved out parolees and towed about 20 dilapidated motor homes". The article, as well as other local media coverage, has been reporting on some of the other pratcices put in place at the 'tent city'. The article goes on to report, "Pattie Barnes, 47, who had her motor home towed away last week, shook with anger. "They are tagging us because we are homeless," she said, staring at her orange wristband. "It feels like a concentration camp."
Aside from the degrading and Orwellian practice of branding people with mandatory 'marks' or wristbands as if they were Nazi prisoners, the city leaderhsip, using the police department as it's enforcement arm, have mistreated and abused people who are already disadvantaged and struggling to improve themselves. I am speaking of those who have encountered a series of misfortunes and found themselves on the fringe of society. Mistakenly hoping that government would help them get back on their feet, they learned the cold truth from the city of Ontario. The city has abused their trust and used local government mechanisms to oppress them even further; stealing their automobiles, the only possessions many of them have. They will now be required, without even having a place to sleep and no transportation, to aquire liability insurance and retrieve their vehicles from the impound yard within 30 days or have it sold at auction, with the City of Ontario reaping the profit from the homeless.
State and federal courts have already ruled against automatic seizures in driver's license and DUI cases in the interest of justice and due process. [1a] [2]. State Senator Gil Cedillo remarked on the rulings, stating "if a car is legally parked and does not impede traffic or create a public safety hazard, it may be unreasonable seizure of property." While the officer retains discretion, they should keep the community caretaker doctrine in mind.[3]
What is the City of Ontario going to do with all the funds they and their wicked cadre garner from this theft? Perhaps they will build more 'helpful camps' for the masses of growing unemployed and displaced people so that they can steal more cars, have CPS take their kids, and have animal control take their pets, as also outlined in the news reports?
I would also like to know what specific Califoria vehicle Code violation was used as the pretext to take these 20 motor homes. [4] What is the specific code, and was there any notice legally required to be posted on the vehicles before they were seized? Or was it a local Ontario ordinance which they used as a pretext to take the vehicles? Is the 'camp' located public or private property? (as varying towing laws apply to each.) Was the registration of these twenty vehicles suspended prior to their tow? Were they towed for being uninsured? What was the purported probable cause to stop or seize the vehicles? [5] [6]
[See [7] below, Community Caretaker Doctrine and Parked Cars].
Should these homeless people file a Section 1983 action [8] as the Miranda family did successful in their case, Miranda v. City of Corneliu? [9] [In that case, The Ninth Circuit held that it was unconstitutional for a police officer to seize a vehicle under the community caretaker doctrine]
You should be asahmed of yourselves. You, the mayor, police chief, Ontario code enforcement department, City Attorney, and CA Insurance commissioner should put an immediate stop to the oppression and state-sponsored theft from society's most vulnerable. I plead with you to show mercy to the poor and immediately return their property.
In conclusion, I will share the Christian wisdom of Catholic Pope Saint Leo the Great, who warned:
"He who gets deceitful gain from lending his money on usury is shown to be both an alien from God's tabernacle and an exile from His holy hill, and in seeking to enrich himself by other's losses, he deserves to be punished with eternal neediness. Let Us Avoid Avarice, and Share God's Benefits with Others And so, dearly beloved, do ye who with the whole heart have put your trust in the Lord's promises, flee from this unclean leprosy of avarice, and use God's gift piously and wisely. [10]
And I will close with the Sacred words of our Lord Jesus Christ:
"Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.' Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.'
    Matthew 25:40-43 [11]

9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco and the California Court of Appeal did not specifically deal with illegal immigration, in many communities the majority of cars impounded belong to unlicensed drivers in the country illegally. As a result of the rulings, the California Police Chiefs Association has told its members it is illegal to impound vehicles of people whose only violation is driving without a license when the vehicle does not create a traffic hazard

[3] Rules of the Road: Federal and State Court Rulings on Vehicle Impounds
The Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeal opinion in Miranda v. City of Cornelius and the California Court of Appeal opinion in the case of People v. Williams, have found impounding vehicles on the sole charge of driving without a license [absent consideration of the community caretaker doctrine] unconstitutional. Specifically, The court rulings have not vacated state statutes related to vehicle impounds and peace officers retain the discretion to remove vehicles posing a public safety threat. Driving without a license is still against the law, and drivers will be cited and fined. However, the rulings do imply that statutory authorization does not, in and of itself, determine the constitutional reasonableness of the seizure.

Alex Jones is definitely not a reliable source. He's a pot stirrer. His motivations are suspect, his facts are suspect, anything he posts is spurious conclusions based on suspect motives and facts!

Agreed... For everyone's information: Though it isn't a "written in stone rule", for all intents and purposes, sources such as Alex Jones, Hal Turner, Jeff Rense, and other tinfoil sites should be considered blacklisted from here. Tinfoil conspiracy is not welcome here since we pride ourselves on relaying accurate information about various threats to our nation from terrorism and Axis belligerents (as well as other information we are discussing here!). We need to focus on more trustworthy sources of information.

This was not an Alex Jones source, but an independent person interviewing a couple outside one of the older tent cities.

At the first of this video george4title made a reference to viewers IF they wanted to forward this interview to AJ, they could.

Searching on this subject I've have really made an effort here to avoid AJ on these articles.

Although I'm not a big AJ fan, but now that he has been mentioned; Recently he did send down a couple of reporters to get an understanding as to the how these homeless camps are functioning. The 2 reporters seemed credible and cautions in reporting the disturbing facts they found.

I thought about it for awhile but still avoided posting their story, knowing no matter how credible it was in reporting the facts it would not be well received here about this subject.

So I continued digging until I found another independent source that reiterated and corroborated much of the same information weeks before AJ's reporters arrived in California.

I watched the video, front to back last night. *I* made the reference to Alex Jones... the reason I made the reference was the FIRST THING OUT OF THE "INDEPENDENT" guy's mouth was to make sure that Alex Jones got a copy of the video and that he knew ******** was "following this story".

While that in and of itself is not a direct connection to Alex Jones, it's certainly a "guilt by association" situation.

Ryan and I have discussed this before. I have a LONGGGGGGGGGGG bloody history with the likes of Jones and his "ilk".

I'm going to explain something here. I used to listen to him on the shortwave and when I first heard him he sounded somewhat credible. Those were the days before the internet existed as it does today.

We used email lists. I was on several of them and we passed "Survivalist" stuff. Mostly how to prepare and preserve meats, food, grow farms, make energy, things like that.

Over the course of about 3-4 years (And Richard Fleetwood who's a member here can verify all of this) our lists were "infiltrated" slowly but surely by a group of people who were basically "white supremacists" and Jew-Haters. Jones, who was part of this group became more and more vile in his remarks over time.

During the worst of this and just prior to the attack on the OKC Federal building by McVey and Nicholas we saw a drastic and nasty increase in these people calling for the "take down" of the US government. There were dozens of people who acted as "agents provocateur" in their attempts to get the general folks up in arms to attack the government.

Jones was a purveyor of such bullshit and it was through the lists that I had first heard of him.

Over the course of time these people became more and more vile and despicable until most of us eventually left the lists. I never looked back - but watched after OKC while the real "survivalists" were lumped in with the "evil militia groups" by the media, and finally the government under Clinton.

It was a bit ploy to make independent people look like the evil ones... and it was created, perpetuated either knowingly or at least tacitly by people like Jones.

I am not questioning honest reporting. I'm questioning how it can be "honest" when there is an apparent connection with Alex Jones.

This is an attempt by the Jones' side to link tent cities with the Federal government (when this was a state function) and to further incite people to distrust and hate our government.

I think we all are smart enough to distrust when our so-called Non-representing Representatives raise our taxes, give our money away and try to take our freedoms WITHOUT someone making us "hate" at the same time, or making connections to some "shadow government".

Jones is nothing more than a creep. Anyone CONNECTING themselves with him can't be all there - can't POSSIBLY have thought this through and is simply listening to Jones and his crew without regard to truth and facts.

I thought about it for awhile but still avoided posting their story, knowing no matter how credible it was in reporting the facts it would not be well received here about this subject.

So I continued digging until I found another independent source that reiterated and corroborated much of the same information weeks before AJ's reporters arrived in California.
While I do understand and sympathize with the plight of ALL Americans who are becoming homeless for whatever reasons, I don't think that this is some conspiracy of a greater nature to force these people on to the streets and put them into "detention centers" or "concentration camps" (Yes, I can see very clearly where this is going with Jones and his people)...

And any 'evidence' for this will be taken out of context from actual news articles.

My advice is, as Ryan has said - to AVOID sensationalists like Jones, Rense and their kind. While I like and even applaud someone like Glenn Beck, I still take him with a grain of salt and check the things he is saying. Sometimes, even he can go over the top a little.

Vector - you've done a wonderful job in keeping up with the news, views and opinions and I'm not knocking what you've managed to accomplish here in keeping people informed. In fact, you have significantly lightened my load to the point I can actually spend more time doing a few other things I've wanted to get done (writing a book, working on my boat and reading articles instead of spending more time posting them).

However - there's a type of following here we have on this site - and around the world - that looks to us to provide CREDIBLE information, data and intelligence (if you will). I see the IP addresses of visitors - I know where they are from, which Agencies peruse us, which countries "citizens" are looking us over, and which governments are seeking the same information we know about them.

We don't want, need or invite in-credible sources because this site SHOULD be considered credible. Placing this kind of stuff on the site (non-credible) reduces our credibility.

    Tent Cities Spread Across U.S.A.!

    By Bob Kendall
    04/02/2009 07:34:45 PM EST

The New York Times on March 26 carried this headlined article: RESIDENTS OF SACRAMENTO'S TENT CITY MOVE TO FAIRGROUND by Jesse McKinley: "Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mayor Kevin Johnson (of Sacramento) said Wednesday that they would move the Riverside encampment's 125 residents -- down from a peak of 200 -- to the state's fairgrounds until at least July. The move, according to the governor, will give the homeless a 'dry shelter,' reliable healthcare and warm meals.

"'We're a circus for sightseers,' said Mr. Borchardt, 29, who added a few unprintable adjectives to his comments. 'People are coming here with cameras and then just walking away. We never had sightseers before.'

"Mr. Johnson, a former NBA basketball player elected to office last year, had taken to giving tours of the camp, which sits on a rugged chunk of land beneath a crisscross of electric wires. On one recent walk through he said a smaller version of tent city had been 'swept under the rug' for years, but had grown in recent months as a building bust pushed normally blue collar people to the brink."

The homeless in the U.S.A., with the economic meltdown, now includes former homeowners who lost their jobs and had their homes foreclosed upon -- with 2 ½ million foreclosures. Homelessness has become the latest American lifestyle. Seattle is home to Microsoft's founder Bill Gates, the wealthiest man in the U.S.A. Under current construction is the Gates Foundation, which is being built in Seattle Center. One worthy project the Gates Foundation has launched is ending malaria worldwide.

But doesn't charity begin at home, right here in Seattle where Gates made his fortune? Five Seattle city schools are closing. There is no money to keep them going. Health clinics in Seattle and satellite cities are closing.

Seattle's satellite cities are laying off public employees and closing pre-schools along with health clinics for the uninsured.

Seattle has two tent cities -- one in the parking lot at a church and another in a park. Washington State has a $9 billion shortfall.

Tent cities have sprung up outside Houston, St. Petersburg, and Fort Lauderdale, with Los Angeles, which used to be called the "City of Angels" now being referred to as the city of the homeless, with some estimates running as high as 70,000 homeless.

In the meantime, February 12 Parade Magazine reported that the U.S. in an 8 month period has brought in 130,000 Vietnamese refugees from Vietnam.

That bitterly divided war resulted in over 59,000 U.S. deaths and better than 2 million fatalities from Vietnam and Cambodia.

Approximately 500,000 Iraqis already live in the U.S.A. In 2008, 13,000 emigrated to this country.

The Iraq War losses are estimated at over 1.3 million Iraqis dead along with 4,242 U.S. service personnel. Perhaps the powers that be felt guilty, deciding we should take in 17,000 more escaping Iraqis in 2009.

After Alan Greenspan indicated in "Turbulent Times", "The Iraq War is largely about oil," perhaps it is felt that the U.S. owes Iraq and that it should supply refugees with homes, medical care, education, and jobs.

But U.S. citizens are living in tent cities around the nation while 190,000 contractors are rebuilding Iraq and Obama's talk about hastily pulling troops out of Iraq in his famous "change" scenario that snared the rule of president handily, seems to be instead following some of Bush's policy regarding Iraq.

The U.S. built the biggest U.S. Embassy in the world not in London, Paris, or Rome, but in Iraq. Could it be because Iraq has the world's third largest oil supply underneath its soil?

Troops are not scheduled to be removed until 2012 with between 50,000 and 55,000 remaining. All of this is slated to occur in view of polls revealing that 70 percent of Iraqis want all U.S. forces to leave.

Why can't those 190,000 contractors the U.S. pays to rebuild Iraq be used to rebuild this nation? Many victims of Katrina still live in mobile homes.

Since when did tent cities become the acceptable standard of living?

If the Obama administration can diplomatically end the Afghanistan War, perhaps U.S. citizens can be provided with universal health care like every other industrial nation?

    Is that asking too much?

Very well said Rick. A couple parts I wanted to reiterate:

Any connection is one too many!

Indeed. vector, you've been a big help in posting important information here so don't think you are being singled out. As I said, this is a notice to everyone. In fact, vector, I too would like to say thanks! I've lost count the number of times where I've come across an interesting article, say "This is good stuff! I'll post it when I get some free time", bookmark it, check TAA for newly posted content, and then see vector has already posted it!

But as Rick said, maintaining credibility and passing along reliable information is top priority. Our message is already considered "fringe" by some (though with each passing day and increase in strength of the TAA that becomes harder and harder to apply) and we surely don't want non-credible stuff here that would validate what the naysayers are claiming.
