Alan Robertson of "Duck Dynasty" Speaking at American Farm Bureau Federation’s 2014 Annual Convention

Last Updated on Tuesday, 24 December 2013 05:39

WASHINGTON, D.C., December 23, 2013 – Alan Robertson, the “beardless brother” on A&E’s hit reality TV show “Duck Dynasty,” will be the keynote speaker at a general session at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 2014 Annual Convention, Jan. 12-15, 2014, in San Antonio.

Alan is the oldest son of Phil Robertson, founder of the Duck Commander Company, the family’s Louisiana-based duck call business. He grew up hunting and fishing, helping to build the foundation of the company in the 1970s and 1980s.

Before rejoining Duck Commander in 2012, Alan was a full-time minister at White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ in Louisiana for more than 25 years. He and his wife, Lisa, enjoy helping carry out the family’s commitment to spreading the gospel of Christ through their love of hunting and the great outdoors.

More than 7,000 Farm Bureau members from across the nation are expected to gather in San Antonio for the 95th Annual Convention to hear from distinguished leaders and participate in a grassroots policy-setting process that will guide AFBF through 2014.

Robertson will speak at the general session of the convention on Monday morning. Stallman is the keynote speaker at the Sunday opening session; Gen. Stan McChrystal, a retired four-star general and former commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan, will speak at the closing session on Monday afternoon.

Farm Bureau members can register for the 95th AFBF Annual Convention through their state Farm Bureau. Learn more about convention events and related activities at http://annualconvention.fb.org/. A mobile app is available here: https://afbf14.quickmobile.mobi. The official hashtag of the meeting is #AFBF14.

Christian group suspects Phil Robertson support sites being blocked

December 24, 2013 by Cheryl Carpenter Klimek Leave a Comment
In the aftermath of Phil Robertson’s suspension from A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” over his remarks on homosexuality, websites supporting him have cropped up spontaneously – one of which seemed to be blocked by Twitter for a period of time on Monday.
Faith Driven Consumer created the site, iStandwithPhil.com, containing a petition which says:
I am asking your network to immediately reinstate Mr. Robertson to Duck Dynasty, and to formally apologize to him, his family, and the millions of viewers who tune in every week, stand by him, and share his worldview. While the LGBT community may be offended by his opposing viewpoint, your rash, discriminatory, and unfair treatment toward Mr. Robertson — a recognized symbol of the faith community — is a slap in the face to Faith Driven Consumers and everyday Americans alike.
Twitter appeared to be prohibiting users from sending the link in messages.

According to a statement on the Faith Driven Consumer Facebook page:
#Twitter has blocked users from Tweeting the domain IStandWithPhil.com as the high-profile petition drive in support of #DuckDynasty star #PhilRobertson rapidly approaches 200,000 members in just under four days. This marks at least the third major shutdown of a pro-Phil Robertson social media account since the story broke days ago.
The crisis created a buzz in social media circles, questioning why a conservative website would be blocked. Despite the setback, the website passed the 200,000 mark it was driving toward for petition signatures.
Just after midnight, the group announced the site was no longer blocked:

Twitter released a statement apologizing for the problem.
“The URL IStandWithPhil.com was mistakenly flagged as spam tonight, by an outside organization that tracks spam sources,” Twitter told Marketing Land in an emailed statement. “We have restored access and apologize for the error.”

Duck Dynasty Star Phil Robertson: ‘I Will Not Back Off from My Path’

“I will not give or back off from my path.”

So said a defiant Phil Robertson on Sunday, speaking to a Bible study group at his hometown church in West Monroe, La., and making his first public statements since being suspended by A&E for his controversial remarks to GQ about gays and African-Americans.

But the Duck Dynasty patriarch’s latest remarks could have people quacking all over again.

“I love all men and women,” said the camouflage-clad Robertson, who granted the Daily Mail exclusive access to his Bible study talk. “I am a lover of humanity, not a hater.”

Robertson, 67, addressed the small class at White’s Ferry Road Church for 45 minutes, defending his positions and quoting from the Bible days after likening homosexuality to bestiality and claiming African-Americans were “singing and happy” pre-Civil Rights.

“We murder each other, and we steal from one another, sex and immorality goes ballistic,” he said.

“All the diseases that just so happened to follow sexual mischief … boy there are some microbes running around now.”

He continued: “Sexual sins are numerous and many. I have a few myself. So what is your safest course of action? If you’re a man, find yourself a woman, marry them and keep your sex right there.”

“Common sense says we are not going to procreate the human race unless we have a man and a woman,” he told the class.

Robertson said that over the last 2000 years, “the sins are the same” and “humans haven’t changed.”

    Army: Don’t say Christmas

    By Todd Starnes
    Published December 24, 2013

    Don’t say Christmas.

That’s the message that was conveyed to a group of soldiers at Camp Shelby by an equal opportunity officer from the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, according to a soldier who attended a recent briefing.

“It’s unbelievable that the Army would ban ‘Christmas’ like it’s a bad word,” said Michael Berry, an attorney with the Liberty Institute, a legal firm representing the unidentified soldier.

Two weeks ago, a routine meeting was held at the Mississippi base with various leaders of the 158th Infantry Brigade. During the meeting, they discussed an upcoming Christmas football tournament. The equal opportunity officer immediately objected to the usage of the word “Christmas.”

“Our equal opportunity representative stopped the briefing and told us that we can’t say Christmas,” the soldier told me. “Almost the entire room blew up. Everybody was frustrated. The equal opportunity rep told our commander that not everyone celebrates Christmas and we couldn’t say Christmas celebration. It had to be holiday celebration.”

The soldier said there was a brief, but heated discussion about political correctness. At one point, the equal opportunity representative tried to deflect the criticism by pointing out it was the Army’s rules – not hers.

“She said an individual can say Christmas, but as an organization in the Army you can’t say Christmas,” the soldier told me.
So what does the Army have to say about the DEOMI officer’s edict?

“There is no policy at the 158th Infantry Brigade, First Army Division East or First Army that forbids using the word ‘Christmas’,” Public Affairs Chief Amanda Glenn told me.

She confirmed that there was a discussion in the meeting about the football tournament. She said it was meant to be a team building event and it had no tie to a specific religious event or holiday celebration.

“The Equal Opportunity advisor simply stated that it would be more appropriate to call it a holiday football event,” she said.

But Attorney Berry tells me that it was made very clear to the soldiers in the room that the name change was not merely a suggestion.
“She stated that the word Christmas had to be replaced with the word holiday,” Berry said.

The soldier who contacted me said it was just another instance of the military trying to curtail public expressions of the Christian faith.

“Between the Air Force and the Army – it’s like they don’t like Christian values, they don’t like the word Christ or Christmas,” the soldier said. “They don’t like you talking about it.”

Berry said it’s a shame that the Army has implemented word police.

“Are they going to have the ‘Merry Christmas’ police going around issuing citations to an soldier who slips and says the word?” he wondered. “They’re treating Christmas like it’s pornography. As a matter of fact, the Army actually treats pornography better than it does Christmas.”

It’s not the first time Equal Opportunity officers have caused trouble at Camp Shelby. Earlier this year, I reported exclusively about a briefing at Camp Shelby that labeled the American Family Association as a domestic hate group.

After my story was published, the Secretary of the Army ordered military leaders to halt all briefings on extremist organizations that labeled Evangelical Christian ministries as domestic hate groups.

I'm dumbfounded that the liberal/progressive/commie/Obama brigade has so thoroughly skunked the ARMY with their leftist policies. They are completely transforming the armed forces along with their influences on American culture. Somebody with ties to military people help me out here. How is this happening so comprehensively when there has to be a sizeable majority of soldiers who do not share in the administration's opinions?

Why is this being allowed? Is it the same reason the American people are sitting on their collective hands while a tiny but influencial few remake our country?

Muslim Population in the Military Raises Difficult Issues

    Updated Nov. 9, 2009 12:01 a.m. ET

The deadly rampage at Fort Hood is forcing Pentagon officials to confront difficult questions about the military's growing Muslim population.

The military has worked hard to recruit more Muslims since the start of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the number of Muslim troops, while still small, has been increasing. There were 3,409 Muslims in the active-duty military as of April 2008, according to Pentagon statistics.

Don't forget MMCO, that the EO person is also military, USUALLY an officer of some rank (at least a Capt. or Maj.) and likely has been "promoted" to the position by someone else who has a Liberal mindset (Obama, for instance in the case of general officers, or the commanding officer - probably a Colonel, who might be a black man for instance, another woman or just someone who has a love for Obama) ---- in which case those below these officers are out ranked and must follow "legal orders".

It's hard to argue if an order to "not say the word Christmas" is legal or not at least in the military.

As a former military guy - yeah, it's a sticky wicket.... You can sometimes, in some circumstances get away with a moral high ground. But there are times when that's just not possible for the regular lower ranking Joe to get away with - and that generally is MOST times.

Look at the issues the chaplains have been having lately. They are usually officers of higher ranks from Major to Colonel and they have been ordered to stand down more than once lately.

It appears that Reverend Jackson has opened his big mouth, inserted his foot cleanly down his throat yet again, over the Duck Dynasty "controversy".

He has stated that Phil Robertson has made comments WORSE than those of the bus driver in the Rosa Parks incident, further stating that "at least the bus driver was acting under state law".

Apparently he believes it illegal to express ones religious opinion if one is white.

How dare he wear the title of "Reverend", assumably a minister of God's word. He's nothing but a racially motivated pitbull for Marxist/socialist causes. I don't think he'd recognize God's word as Phil Robertson espouses if it walked up and bit him on the ass. He best repent before the SHTF.

I use the phrase "Reverend" as a more ironic title for him than anything. It's insulting for him to use it himself.

Jesse Jackson: Phil Robertson Is Worse Than Rosa Parks' Bus Driver

12/26/2013 9:45 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
    http://www.tmz.com/2013/12/26/jesse-...#ixzz2oc0vtU5v

Phil Robertson's homophobic comments to GQ were MORE OFFENSIVE than the words uttered by bus driver who tried to force Rosa Parks to sit on the back of his bus in 1955 ... so says civil rights leader Jesse Jackson.

Jackson came out firing against the "Duck Dynasty" star this week ... explaining, "These statements uttered by Robertson are more offensive than the bus driver in Montgomery, Alabama, more than 59 years ago."

"At least the bus driver, who ordered Rosa Parks to surrender her seat to a white person, was following state law. Robertson’s statements were uttered freely and openly without cover of the law, within a context of what he seemed to believe was 'white privilege.'"

Jackson is demanding a meeting with A&E and Cracker Barrel execs ... and even issued a Friday deadline ... urging the network to uphold Robertson’s suspension from the reality show.

Unclear if the network plans to honor Jackson's demand.

I wish you would just hurry up and die and leave this world for a better place. You are the stupidest motherfucker ever born to this planet. It's no wonder you want people to believe whites think blacks are stupid. Because you ARE!

Military Bans Bibles But Forces Soldiers to Adhere to Ramadan Rules

    Posted by Jim Hoft
    Saturday, June 28, 2014, 11:42 PMt

    It’s an Obama world.

The US Air Force kicked Christian Gideon’s volunteers off base in March.

The Bibles were too offensive and violated the separation of church and state rule.

But US military personnel are expected to adhere Islamic practices during Ramadan.

Stars and Stripes reported: U.S. personnel accustomed to drinking their coffee on the drive to work will have to put that habit on hold for about a month.

It’s one of a few lifestyle changes Americans will have to make during the holy month of Ramadan.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Officials expect Ramadan to begin at sunrise on Saturday, depending on when the new moon is sighted. The holy month lasts for approximately 30 days — until about July 28. For Muslims around the world, Ramadan is a month of fasting and devotion to God. Most Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, when families gather for Iftar — the meal that breaks the fast.

For the 8,200 U.S. personnel living here, and those serving throughout the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility — including servicemembers, civilian personnel, contractors and family members — the month may require changing some daily routines.

Businesses and government offices will reduce hours and most restaurants will be closed during daylight hours.

While not required to fast during Ramadan, in Bahrain, Americans can be fined or detained by local authorities for eating, drinking or smoking in public when off-base during daylight hours.

Navy officials are requiring U.S. personnel to dress more conservatively off-base during Ramadan. Although not a requirement by Bahraini authorities, the Navy is demanding that men wear long-sleeved shirts and women wear sleeved blouses that cover their elbows. Also, men must wear long trousers, and women should wear pants or skirts that cover the knees.

Dyer County (Tennessee) Student Disciplined For Saying "Bless You"

    August 19, 2014

A West Tennessee high schooler said a common courtesy landed her in in-school suspension.

Kendra Turner said, saying "bless you" to a classmate who sneezed, then defending herself to her teacher, landed her in trouble.

Turner, is a newly enrolled senior at Dyer County High School and admits to breaking a classroom rule by saying "bless you", but she said that rule, violated her First Amendment rights.

"Bless you, hang out, my bad, dumb, stupid, stuff, and things like that," Turner said.

Those are the words Turner said are banned by her computer teacher at Dyer County High School.

She admits to saying "bless you" on Monday after the student next to her sneezed. She said she was just being polite.

"She told me that we're not going to have godly speaking in her class," Turner said. "I said, 'well my pastor told me it's my constitutional right.'"

In a letter shared with WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News by the Turners, allegedly from her teacher, she calls "bless you" and other expressions distract and interrupts smooth flow."

"Ridiculous," Pastor Becky Winegardner said. "It's just something I really don't think warrants in-school suspension."

Pastor Winegardner is the Turners pastor and a former high school principal. She said other students had come to her concerned about the teacher's rules. She said she told them to do the right thing.

"I am hoping to try and encourage my students to stand-up." Pastor Winegardner said. "To stand up for who they are. But I want to see it done in the proper place. During break time and free time in the classroom."

Although she said this situation has been a difficult one, Turner said she has been blessed with a great support system.

"A lot of them came into school with t-shirts that said "bless you" on them to support me," Turner said. "A lot of people were saying stuff on Facebook too."

The Dyer County School District declined our multiple requests to talk on camera about the incident, but said it has been blown way out of proportion.

City Of Houston Demands Pastors Turn Over Sermons

    October 14, 2014
    By Todd Starnes

The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor. And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court.

“The city’s subpoena of sermons and other pastoral communications is both needless and unprecedented,” Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Christina Holcomb said in a statement. “The city council and its attorneys are engaging in an inquisition designed to stifle any critique of its actions.”

ADF, a nationally-known law firm specializing in religious liberty cases, is representing five Houston pastors. They filed a motion in Harris County court to stop the subpoenas arguing they are “overbroad, unduly burdensome, harassing, and vexatious.”

“Political and social commentary is not a crime,” Holcomb said. “It is protected by the First Amendment.”

The subpoenas are just the latest twist in an ongoing saga over the Houston’s new non-discrimination ordinance. The law, among other things, would allow men to use the ladies room and vice versa. The city council approved the law in June.

The Houston Chronicle reported opponents of the ordinance launched a petition drive that generated more than 50,000 signatures – far more than the 17,269 needed to put a referendum on the ballot.

However, the city threw out the petition in August over alleged irregularities.

After opponents of the bathroom bill filed a lawsuit the city’s attorneys responded by issuing the subpoenas against the pastors.

The pastors were not part of the lawsuit. However, they were part of a coalition of some 400 Houston-area churches that opposed the ordinance. The churches represent a number of faith groups – from Southern Baptist to non-denominational.

“City council members are supposed to be public servants, not ‘Big Brother’ overlords who will tolerate no dissent or challenge,” said ADF attorney Erik Stanley. “This is designed to intimidate pastors.”

Mayor Parker will not explain why she wants to inspect the sermons. I contacted City Hall for a comment and received a terse reply from the mayor’s director of communications.

“We don’t comment on litigation,” said Janice Evans.

However, ADF attorney Stanley suspects the mayor wants to publicly shame the ministers. He said he anticipates they will hold up their sermons for public scrutiny. In other words – the city is rummaging for evidence to “out” the pastors as anti-gay bigots.

Among those slapped with a subpoena is Steve Riggle, the senior pastor of Grace Community Church. He was ordered to produce all speeches and sermons related to Mayor Annise Parker, homosexuality and gender identity.

The mega-church pastor was also ordered to hand over “all communications with members of your congregation” regarding the non-discrimination law.

“This is an attempt to chill pastors from speaking to the cultural issues of the day,” Riggle told me. “The mayor would like to silence our voice. She’s a bully.”

Rev. Dave Welch, executive director of the Texas Pastor Council, also received a subpoena. He said he will not be intimidated by the mayor.

“We’re not afraid of this bully,” he said. “We’re not intimidated at all.”

He accused the city of violating the law with the subpoenas and vowed to stand firm in the faith.

“We are not going to yield our First Amendment rights,” Welch told me. ‘This is absolutely a complete abuse of authority.”

Tony Perkins, the head of the Family Research Council, said pastors around the nation should rally around the Houston ministers.

“The state is breaching the wall of separation between church and state,” Perkins told me. ‘Pastors need to step forward and challenge this across the country. I’d like to see literally thousands of pastors after they read this story begin to challenge government authorities – to dare them to come into their churches and demand their sermons.”

Perkins called the actions by Houston’s mayor “obscene” and said they “should not be tolerated.”

“This is a shot across the bow of the church,” he said.

This is the moment I wrote about in my book, “God Less America.” I predicted that the government would one day try to silence American pastors. I warned that under the guise of “tolerance and diversity” elected officials would attempt to deconstruct religious liberty.

Sadly, that day arrived sooner than even I expected.

Tony Perkins is absolutely right. Now is the time for pastors and people of faith to take a stand. We must rise up and reject this despicable strong-arm attack on religious liberty. We cannot allow ministers to be intimidated by government thugs.

The pastors I spoke to tell me they will not comply with the subpoena – putting them at risk for a “fine or confinement, or both.”

Heaven forbid that should happen. But if it does, Christians across America should be willing to descend en masse upon Houston and join these brave men of God behind bars.

Pastor Welch compared the culture war skirmish to the 1836 Battle of San Jacinto, fought in present-day Harris County, Texas. It was a decisive battle of the Texas Revolution.

“This is the San Jacinto moment for traditional family,” Welch told me. “This is the place where we stop the LGBT assault on the freedom to practice our faith.”

We can no longer remain silent. We must stand together - because one day – the government might come for your pastor.

The state demanding religious sermons? No fucking way. This is exactly what the 1st amendment was put in place for.
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."
