    Default Law of the lawn

This may well be covered under Murphy's Law, but for now I deem it

    Lukes Lawn Laws

1.The mower will aways run out of gas at the furthest point from where the gas can is stored.

    2. Tires will never be flat until the mower is started.

    3. The tire that is flat will always be the one with animal fecal matter in its treads.

    4. Mower problems always happen before a week long rain event.

    5. If a mower refuses to start, the weed eater will start on the first pull.

    6. Mowers know when there are only 12 feet of lawn left, so they can run out of gas.

Ha! Ha! Sounds like my world!

Just had to put a new drive belt on the mower.

    Those are good ones.

Let's post them all over the internet as "Luke's Lawn Laws".

So you will be famous like Murphy someday!

    I've got a corollary to:

1.The mower will aways run out of gas at the furthest point from where the gas can is stored.

--The more environmentally friendly the gas can, the more likely you are to spill gas when filling the lawnmower.

If y'all don't know what I mean, just wait. It's coming. These effing gas cans these days have these spring loaded fill pipes that are impossible to use without spillage. They do exactly the opposite of their intended effect. See here:--> http://www.gwgrentals.com/images/GasCan_Full.jpg

Yeah - they suck. I had to add gas to my wife's jeep the other day. For some reason she... ummm... "forgot" to check her tank and pretty much ran out at the house in the drive way.

I had to get a FUNNEL to get the gas out of the can into her car (what I didn't spill over the side, down the tire and all over the ground!)

Of course I did the "environmentally friendly thing" and washed it into the street.

Yep, as of last month (I believe) all new gas cans sold must be these special (read much more expensive) CARB compliant type of gas cans. Good thing I've got a stash of NATO style cans and plan on picking up a number more.

By the way, I'll bet an ingenious person could rip the guts out of one of these goofy nozles and put a plugable hole at the top of the can for proper venting.
