    Default Smoke Detectors

Having recently added on to my house, we had a new smoke alarm system installed. It included 1 wired and 4 wireless detectors from Kidde. They are all linked.

Whenever we cook something in the oven, the effing thing goes off. There is no detector in the kitchen and there is no visible smoke. The nearest detector is about 20 feet from the stove in a different room. If the food smells good and the alarm isn't blaring, just wait a second, it will be shortly.

These are ionizing detectors. I understand that photoelectrics aren't nearly as prone to falsing but I can't seem to find a PE that does the same job wirelessly.

    Suggestions?

On a side note, do you have any sort of hood over your range?

You know... I thought all of them used some kind of photoelectric device in conjunction with the radiation type. The ones I have here in the house have a module ... let me look... brb

Ahhh I guess mine are ionization types... they have a module with radium I think in them. Not sure precisely how they work though. Never looked that up before. Sorry
