Great piece by K.T. McFarland. Thanks for posting it! She is a smart one and has always hit it on the mark when I've seen her on FNC and, she hits it square on the mark with this article too.

The original thread title, "Will America Break Up" seems to have been answered for us, Ryan.

The Gates of Hell Have Opened and the US Is Being Attacked and Occupied

    08 Tuesday Jul 2014
Posted by Mary W. in CDC, DHS, Economic Collapse, FEMA, Illegal Immigrants, New World Order, Pandemics, Police State, Tyrannical Government, United Nations, United States, US Border Patrol, US Constitution

Events are coming to light faster than most can report them. To many, the events discussed in this column over the last two to three weeks appear to be a series of unrelated events. To others, we recognize these events for what they are: The gates of hell are open and there will soon be hell on earth.

The next two articles in this series represents both a qualitative and quantitative meta analysis of several events which demonstrates a distinct, unmistakable and disturbing pattern which will culminate in a health crisis of an unparalleled magnitude and the loss of civil liberties as well as national sovereignty. Many people will lose their lives in the upcoming events.

In the last two parts of parts of this series, I will connect the dots from previous reports, as well as introduce new evidence which serves to support previous documented evidence as well as new evidence of the following:

    1. The United States is being overrun by illegal immigrants from Central and South America as well as West Africa and the Caribbean.

    2. These immigrants are not being health screened for Ebola, Dengue Fever, drug resistant TB et al.

    3. These immigrants are being transported, at taxpayers’ expense to nearly every metropolitan and mid-sized community in the United States. This constitutes an invasion with a lot of risk factors and unknown variables.

    4. The Border Patrol and detention facility medical personnel are being threatened with prison if they reveal just how bad the unfolding crisis is.

    5. The United Nations is in the process of prepositioning military assets on American soil and there is no hiding the evidence.

    6. An inevitable health crisis will ensue and the UN “Peacekeepers” will be rolled out to “save the day.” In actuality, they will become an occupation force as has been the case in the past crises.

I would have preferred to write the summation in one part, but the material is too voluminous. In tomorrow’s report, the following shocking events and evidence will be revealed:

    1. The US military and many of its disaffected senior leadership have actively and passively resisted Obama’s handing off of the country to UN interests. In tomorrow’s article, for the first time, a link between the events in Ukraine, Syria, Iraq and Benghazi will be established between these crises and what is happening on the domestic front in America.

    2. Through the newest contributor to The Common Sense Show, Alana Cook, a former World Net Daily writer and high level defense contractor, has discovered a memo which clearly speaks to the fact that the government knows a pandemic is coming and they have already prepared and budgeted for their reaction. Please note the word “reaction” and not “prevention”.

    3. I have come across an 1100 page Senate Subcommittee report, never reported on in the mainstream media which connects most of the dots listed in this chain.
$. Annie DeRiso, the News Director of The Common Sense Show, previously uncovered evidence which demonstrated that the federal government’s planning for mass casualties has been in the works for at least 5 years.

    4. The link between FEMA camps and related personnel will also be exposed.

In this article, and listed below. are a series of previously reported dots, along side of new information, when connected, form an unmistakable pattern which spells an attack and subsequent subjugation of this country.
The Presence of UN Vehicles On American Soil

Since late May, the country has been besieged with reports, pictures and videos of UN vehicles in our country. FOX 5, San Diego, ran a report on Sunday morning, July 6th, in the early morning hours, which detailed sightings of UN vehicles being transported north of San Diego on Interstate 15 headed towards Riverside. The story said that the vehicles were manufactured in the United States and were being transported for shipment overseas. Really? Does this explain why these vehicles are being transported in SEVERAL southern states. Does the manufacturer have a automotive plant in Georgia, California, Texas, etc? Why don’t we see these reports in Detroit?

The FOX 5 website contains neither a video or a written report of the story. I suspect the story was a trial balloon used to gauge the believability and response to the story without leaving behind much in the way of evidence.

In every case, the vehicles are being transported and not being individually driven. This clearly suggests the prepositioning of military assets for future use.
The references for this first part of this invasion can be found here and here.
The Exponentially Increased Risk of a Pandemic Let Loose On America

Another San Diego Fox 5 story which ran on July 7th, did leave a traceable trail and clearly showed a steady stream of immigrants being landed at Lindbergh Field. The video can be seen here. In the interview, the local head of the San Diego Area Border Patrol, Gabe Pacheco, is interviewed and he stated that his group is highly concerned that immigrants are not being properly processed, exposing the Border Patrol to health risks such as scabies. Pacheco clearly stated that “many of these people are sick”.

In an earlier report, it has also been determined that there has been a case of a Border Patrol Agent contracting drug resistant TB. Other diseases are entering the country as well and transmissibility can be accelerated through the spread of scabies and horizontal transfer through mosquitoes. Prominent Arizona physician, Dr. Jane Orient, has officially warned the Arizona Department of Health that West Africans, from the seven country region where an Ebola outbreak is taking place, are entering through our southern border. It was also reported that these West African illegal immigrants have been taught to speak Spanish so they can blend in with other immigrants. Could this possibly speak to a CIA operation and a deliberate attempt to spread the deadly Ebola virus.

Click here to see the evidence that this administration is complicit in the planning of this invasion. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is greatly exacerbating the risk to the immigrants themselves. Nobody on either side of the border is safe. There is only one objective, flood the United States, in as many communities as possible, with as many immigrants as possible. When the health crisis has been fermented, the UN, under the leadership of Peter Sutherland, will assume control of health and policing activities in this country as has been the past practice in so many other countries.

Meanwhile, back to the FOX 5 report, it was reported that the average illegal alien is questioned and processed and this is completed within two to three hours. No blood is analyzed and this is the only reliable manner in which to diagnose TB, Ebola and Dengue Fever et al. All hell is about ready to break loose in America.
    FEMA Camp Question

During the Jessie Ventura Conspiracy Theory series, Jesse covered the FEMA camp issue which was later banned. In the episode, Jesse and Alex Jones visited a FEMA camp in Texas and videotaped CHILDREN playing behind restraining fences. Why? This unanswered question never settled properly with me.

Yesterday, while walking on the beach, it occurred to me that this nagging question may have been answered 5 years ago during the H1N1 scare by former Kansas State Patrol officer, the highly decorated Greg Evensen.

While appearing on The Common Sense Show, Greg stated that mandatory H1N1 vaccinations were coming and various law enforcement agencies had already practiced for the roadblocks with FEMA busses for the unwilling and waiting injections for those that could be intimidated. I confirmed this fact with two high ranking Colorado State Patrol officials that I know personally. However, the public backlash against the planned mandatory vaccinations was so heavily resisted the federal government backed off. Yet, there was something that Greg revealed that may come into play in the near future. Greg said that key enforcement personnel would be told that their families were being taken for safekeeping against any possible backlash and civil unrest and they would be housed together. In actuality, Greg stated that the family members of these key people would be held hostage in order to force compliance. Is this what we saw on Jesse Ventura’s show with the children playing inside of a prison complex? Did you just get chills up and down your spine? I did!

The next part in this series will put an exclamation point on this entire series in a way not being reported in either the MSM or the alternative media.
By David Hodges who is the Editor and Host of The Common Sense Show.

Armed militias planning to take over US border to thwart illegal immigrants

As militias vow to protect the Texas border from illegal immigrants, Gov. Rick Perry (R-Texas) said he believes the president has an ulterior motive for not moving quickly to prevent the overwhelming numbers of immigrants crossing the border.
Between January 1 and June 15, 2014, more than 52,000 unaccompanied alien children have been apprehended after crossing the Mexican border into the US, according to Customs and Border Patrol. The children are mostly from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico. Including adults, over 181,000 undocumented immigrants who are “other than Mexicans,” or OTMs, have been apprehended along the southwest border in that time period. The majority of illegal aliens are coming through the Rio Grande Valley in southwest Texas.
As the United States struggles to deal with a huge wave of undocumented minors, the government is currently planning to convert an empty, 55,000-square foot warehouse in McAllen, Texas into an immigration processing center, located about one mile away from the Rio Grande Valley border patrol station. Meanwhile, the Army base in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, was designated as a third military base to house children illegally and will initially house 600 children before bumping up its capacity to 1,200. Over the last few months, similar housing facilities have been created in California and Texas.

With the overwhelming influx of undocumented minors, most of whom have not been vaccinated against infectious diseases like measles, there is fear of potential epidemics. According to the Daily Mail, a rabies outbreak has already been reported by Border Patrol, and officials in Texas are beginning to worry that other infections could spread as well. In Rio Grande, at least, the children are not being screened for diseases.
Enter the Texas and national militias to save the day, the groups say. Over the weekend, a call went out from a coalition of “Patriots” to help with a citizen militia operation called “Secure Our Border – Laredo” to defend private property in the Laredo area and other Texas locations from “drug cartels and from gangs, particularly the MS-13 gangs,” a spokeswoman for the group, Denice Freeman, told The Monitor.
A similar alert went out in mid-June on FreeRepublic.com. “All Texas & National Militia Available Please Converge Immediately Status GO: Mission close down Laredo Crossing for starters ((All need to be closed)) Operation complete when border fence is in place and secure,” the alert said.
Tim Brown at Freedom Outpost calls the current humanitarian crisis an “invasion” that needs to be stopped by the militias.
“This sounds totally American and Constitutional to me. After all, it is constitutional militia, not National Guard or DHS, which are supposed to repel invasions. However, some elected representatives just don't understand the Constitution,” he wrote in a blog post.
During a conference call among militia groups after the first alert went out, one of the call leaders said there are 500 of their troops currently deployed on the Arizona/Mexico border, and as well as “boots on the ground” in CBP’s Laredo sector, Breitbart reported. A state representative, Steve Toth, was also on the call and said that Texas Department of Public Safety Director, Colonel Steve McCraw “is not looking for anyone to show up on the border to help DPS or the Guard. If you would like to join the Guard we would love to have you but don't show up on the border to help it will only cause confusion and lead to someone getting hurt."
While the state’s governor has not asked for help from militias, he hasn’t thrown his support behind the federal government’s handling of the crisis, either. He has been extremely critical of President Barack Obama’s reaction to the lack of border control in Texas.

“This president, I will suggest, is totally and absolutely either inept or making some decisions that are not in the best interests of American citizens,” Perry said during a June 17 interview with Fox News.
He repeated that accusation in an ABC News interview on Sunday.
“I don’t believe he particularly cares whether or not the border of the United States is secure,” Perry told ABC’s Martha Raddatz. “And that’s the reason there’s been this lack of effort, this lack of focus, this lack of resources.”
“The president has sent powerful messages time after time — by his policies, by nuances that it is OK to come to the United States and you can come across and you’ll be accepted in open arms. That is the real issue,” he added. “He sends — I have to believe that when you do not respond in any way, that you are either inept, or you have some ulterior motive of which you are functioning from.”
Perry also believes many of the people being apprehended at the border are coming from the Middle East, not Central America.
“We also have record high numbers of other than Mexicans being apprehended at the border,” he said to Fox News. “These are people that are coming from states like Syria that have substantial connections back to terrorist regimes.”
Politifact Texas rated Perry’s claim as “Pants on Fire!”

America: No Longer 1 Nation, 1 People

    July 15, 2014
    By Patrick J. Buchanan

Speaking to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Albuquerque in 2001, George W. Bush declared that, as Mexico was a friend and neighbor, “It’s so important for us to tear down our barriers and walls that might separate Mexico from the United States.”

Bush succeeded. And during his tenure, millions from Mexico exploited his magnanimity to violate our laws, trample upon our sovereignty, walk into our country and remain here.

In 2007, supported by John McCain, Hillary Clinton, Teddy Kennedy and Barack Obama, Bush backed amnesty for the 12 million people who had entered America illegally.

The nation thundered no. And Congress sustained the nation.

The latest mass border crossing by scores of thousands of tots, teenagers and toughs from Central America has killed amnesty in 2014, and probably for the duration of the Obama presidency.

Indeed, with the massive media coverage of the crisis on the border, immigration, legal and illegal, and what it portends for our future, could become the decisive issue of 2014 and 2016.

But it needs to be put in a larger context. For this issue is about more than whether the Chamber of Commerce gets amnesty for its members who have been exploiting cheap illegal labor.

The real issue: Will America remain one nation, or are we are on the road to Balkanization and the breakup of America into ethnic enclaves? For, as Ronald Reagan said, a nation that cannot control its borders isn’t really a nation anymore.

In Federalist No. 2, John Jay wrote, “Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people – a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs. … ”

He called Americans a “band of brethren, united to each other by the strongest ties.” The republic of the founders for whom Jay spoke did not give a fig for diversity. They cherished our unity, commonality and sameness of ancestry, culture, faith and traditions.

We were not a nation of immigrants in 1789.

They came later. From 1845-1849, the Irish fleeing the famine. From 1890-1920, the Germans. Then the Italians, Poles, Jews and other Eastern Europeans. Then, immigration was suspended in 1924.

From 1925 to 1965, the children and grandchildren of those immigrants were assimilated, Americanized. In strong public schools, they were taught our language, literature and history, and celebrated our holidays and heroes. We endured together through the Depression and sacrificed together in World War II and the Cold War.

By 1960, we had become truly one nation and one people.

America was not perfect. No country is. But no country ever rivaled what America had become. She was proud, united, free, the first nation on earth. And though the civil rights movement had just begun, nowhere did black peoples enjoy the freedom and prosperity of African-Americans.

Attorney General Eric Holder said Sunday that America is today in “a fundamentally better place than we were 50 years ago.”

In some ways that is so. Equality of rights has been realized. Miraculous cures in medicine have kept alive many of us who would not have survived the same maladies half a century ago.

But we are no longer that “band of brethren.” We are no longer one unique people “descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion.”

We are from every continent and country. Nearly 4 in 10 Americans trace their ancestry to Asia, Africa and Latin America. We are a multiracial, multilingual, multicultural society in a world where countless countries are being torn apart over race, religion and roots.

We no longer speak the same language, worship the same God, honor the same heroes or share the same holidays. Christmas and Easter have been privatized. Columbus is reviled. Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee are out of the pantheon. Cesar Chavez is in.

Our politics have become poisonous. Our political parties are at each other’s throats.

Christianity is in decline. Traditional churches are sundering over moral issues like abortion and same-sex marriage. Islam is surging.

Our society seems to be disintegrating. Over 40 percent of all births now are illegitimate. Among Hispanics, the figure is 52 percent. Among African-Americans, 73 percent.

And among children born to single moms, the drug use rate and the dropout rate, the crime rate and the incarceration rate, are many times higher than among children born to married parents.

If a country is a land of defined and defended borders, within which resides a people of a common ancestry, history, language, faith, culture and traditions, in what sense are we Americans one nation and one people today?

Neocons say we are a new kind of nation, an ideological nation erected upon a written Constitution and Bill of Rights.

But equality, democracy and diversity are not mentioned in the Constitution. As for what our founding documents mean, even the Supreme Court does not agree.

More and more, 21st-century America seems to meet rather well Metternich’s depiction of Italy – “a geographic expression.”

Angry With Washington, 1 In 4 Americans Open To Secession

    September 19, 2014

The failed Scottish vote to pull out from the United Kingdom stirred secessionist hopes for some in the United States, where almost a quarter of people are open to their states leaving the union, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll found.

Some 23.9 percent of Americans polled from Aug. 23 through Sept. 16 said they strongly supported or tended to support the idea of their state breaking away, while 53.3 percent of the 8,952 respondents strongly opposed or tended to oppose the notion.

The urge to sever ties with Washington cuts across party lines and regions, though Republicans and residents of rural Western states are generally warmer to the idea than Democrats and Northeasterners, according to the poll.

Anger with President Barack Obama's handling of issues ranging from healthcare reform to the rise of Islamic State militants drives some of the feeling, with Republican respondents citing dissatisfaction with his administration as coloring their thinking.

But others said long-running Washington gridlock had prompted them to wonder if their states would be better off striking out on their own, a move no U.S. state has tried in the 150 years since the bloody Civil War that led to the end of slavery in the South.

"I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference anymore which political party is running things. Nothing gets done," said Roy Gustafson, 61, of Camden, South Carolina, who lives on disability payments. "The state would be better off handling things on its own."

Scottish unionists won by a wider-than-expected 10-percentage-point margin.

Falling public approval of the Obama administration, attention to the Scottish vote and the success of activists who accuse the U.S. government of overstepping its authority - such as the self-proclaimed militia members who flocked to Nevada's Bundy ranch earlier this year during a standoff over grazing rights - is driving up interest in secession, experts said.

"It seems to have heated up, especially since the election of President Obama," said Mordecai Lee, a professor of governmental affairs at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, who has studied secessionist movements.

    'OBAMACARE' A FACTOR

Republicans were more inclined to support the idea, with 29.7 percent favoring it compared with 21 percent of Democrats.

Brittany Royal, a 31-year-old nurse from Wilkesboro, North Carolina, said anger over the "Obamacare" healthcare reform law made her wonder if her state would be better off on its own.

"That has really hurt a lot of people here, myself included. My insurance went from $40 a week for a family of four up to over $600 a month for a family of four," said Royal, a Republican. "The North Carolina government itself is sustainable. Governor (Pat) McCrory, I think he has a better healthcare plan than President Obama."

By region, the idea was least popular in New England, the cradle of the Revolutionary War, with just 17.4 percent of respondents open to pulling their state out.

It was most popular in the Southwest, where 34.1 percent of respondents back the idea.

That region includes Texas, where an activist group is calling the state's legislature to put the secession question on a statewide ballot. One Texan respondent said he was confident his state could get by without the rest of the country.

"Texas has everything we need. We have the manufacturing, we have the oil, and we don't need them," said Mark Denny, a 59-year-old retiree living outside Dallas on disability payments.

Denny, a Republican, had cheered on the Scottish independence movement.

"I have totally, completely lost faith in the federal government, the people running it, whether Republican, Democrat, independent, whatever," he said.

Even in Texas, some respondents said talk about breaking away was more of a sign of their anger with Washington than evidence of a real desire to go it alone. Democrat Lila Guzman, of Round Rock, said the threat could persuade Washington lawmakers and the White House to listen more closely to average people's concerns.

"When I say secede, I'm not like (former National Rifle Association president) Charlton Heston with my gun up in the air, 'my cold dead hands.' It's more like – we could do it if we had to," said Guzman, 62. "But the first option is, golly, get it back on the right track. Not all is lost. But there might come a point that we say, 'Hey, y'all, we're dusting our hands and we're moving on.'"

How Secession Can Happen In The US

    September 19, 2014

No, this isn't a novel. Sorry, the Ticker doesn't do fiction, and especially not apocalyptic fiction.

I'm talking about reality here, in the wake of the failed Scottish vote.

    Reuters reports:

(Reuters) - The failed Scottish vote to pull out from the United Kingdom stirred secessionist hopes for some in the United States, where almost a quarter of people are open to their states leaving the union, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll found.

There's no such thing as a "hope" when it comes to this. You either believe it would be good or you believe it would be bad.

Washington is likely to ignore those who think it would be good. But they should do something about it instead -- although I'm quite sure they won't. Indeed, not only won't they do anything about it but neither will those political entities, such as the Libertarians, that could capitalize on this.

Let me note that a quarter of the electorate is radically beyond any vote count that the Libertarians have ever collected, yet they're too idiotic to look at the economics of the matter and focus there.

Know where I'm going yet with this? Right here:

Today's Census Bureau report on health insurance in 2013 shows that on the eve of Obamacare, whether you had coverage was largely a question of how much money you made....

    ....

But the chart above is still one of the best possible arguments for the necessity of Obamacare, by demonstrating that the government programs preceding the law are too narrow to cover the poor. It shows that even with the existence of Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program and other assistance, health coverage in the U.S. remains a luxury good -- one that the rich can afford but others struggle, in proportion to their income, to obtain.
Health "coverage" is a luxury good. It should be -- and it should be an unnecessary purchase.

It is, by the way, exactly that the day after we enforce long-standing laws that are supposed to bear on the behavior in the medical marketplace, both by addressing the existing violators and removing the special protections that make much of what they do legal despite blanket laws that are supposed to make that conduct illegal everywhere in the United States.

It is only through that special protection that medical care is expensive enough for you to "need" health insurance in the first place.

I'm going to continue to put a number on this -- health "care" is not only of dubious quality when it comes pretty-much anything that doesn't involve fixing injuries and similar, but it is intentionally full of monopoly practices that under The Sherman and Clayton Acts are supposed to be federal felonies with 10 year prison terms and $1 million fines attached.

This in turn drives the price of such services up by 10 times and often more what it should be -- in some cases by factors of 100, 1,000 or even more. That's the only way $200 worth of scorpion antivenom can cost $60,000, three hundred times the market price. It is the only way that a $20 test can cost over $1,000, fifty times the market price. And it is the only way that one half-hour of a physician's assistant time, worth perhaps $100, can cost $9,000 (to bandage a finger), or ninety times the market price.

It is also the only way you can actually put a $10,000 charge on someone's bill for a service that was never performed at all and not go to prison immediately for fraud and, when you threaten someone with collection for refusing to pay the bogus charge, extortion.

These acts happen every single day, they're intentional, the drug companies openly brag about conspiring to do so in the setting of their prices and nobody lifts a finger to stop it.

That's nuts but it's also reality.

The Federal Government not only refuses to stop this they're a big part of the cause of it, openly conspiring to fix prices.

A state or group of states that refused to permit this and seceded would instantly increase the buying power of everyone in the economy of that state by at least 10% and probably more. It would also instantly become the destination for medical tourism to an extreme degree, effectively draining the revenue from the monopolists everywhere else in what was left of the United States. And while such a state or group of states would not be able to deficit spend (especially if it refused to pay any part of the debt the US Treasury took on over the last 30 or so years) that's good, not bad as it would cause the purchasing power of those in the seceded areas to go up rather than down.

Within months the disparity would become apparent in the population, and it would be to the benefit (on balance) of the seceded area. Yes, there would be losers, with the biggest group being those who gouge the public in the medical field. They'd lose big, but everyone else would win big. There would be much wailing and gnashing of teeth, but society would be better for it on-balance.

And if it worked, and I believe it would, not only would people flock to the seceded territory, especially those of means and industry, further draining the swamp, but pressure would mount fast for the remaining territory to join with the secessionists. Nothing breeds success like success.

We could end up with Washington DC being all that was left, with no productive capacity beyond the ability to ask would you like fries with that? The credit rating of the remainder would go in the toilet as well, and with it the influence of the so-called "creditors" who had bought the worthless paper (hello China!)

As for threats to do something militarily about it? I doubt it very much in today's world, and here's why -- the mere act of secession would create a credit event, and that would make further deficit spending an impossibility. To put down such an act by force of arms would require lots of money, and there wouldn't be any -- never mind that it would also require ordering the military to fire on the members' neighbors and friends, an inherently messy scenario that is by no means assured to be honored.

I'll take the under on Washington being able, in the 2000s, to muster a military response to a peaceful act of erecting the middle finger. And frankly, were it to happen, I'd almost-certainly move there and might have a reason to start another business -- an act that I won't even contemplate in the US as it exists today.

Major Democratic Donor Supports Southern Secession

South ‘dumbing down’ America, donor declares

    August 12, 2014

A major Democratic donor said he supports Southern secession because the South is “dumbing down” national politics, according to emails from a secret progressive Google group obtained by Media Trackers, a conservative Wisconsin news outlet.

In an email thread on Gamechanger Salon—a closed Google group of progressive organizers, reporters, and campaign apparatchiks—Guy Saperstein, a major Democratic donor and part owner of the Oakland Athletics baseball team, said he would support the South seceding.

“For more than 100 years, the South has been dumbing down national politics, tilting the country in a conservative direction, supporting militarism, all while demanding huge financial subsidies from blue states,” Guy Saperstein wrote in the emails. “It would be 100% fine with me if the South was a separate nation, pursuing its own priorities and destiny.”

In the email thread from last October, Gamechanger Salon participants were discussing a Michael Lind story at Salon entitled “The South is Holding America Hostage.”

“I thought this was an impressive (if tough) piece of big-picture political strategy and prescription,” member Jon Stahl wrote. “Would be interested to hear others’ opinions of whether he is on target or way off … and if so what that might imply.”

“In the alternative, could we just let the South secede?” Saperstein began, before offering his opinions on secession. “My comment was not made in jest at all.”

Saperstein is a former president of the Sierra Club Foundation and a former member of the Democracy Alliance, a shadowy group of wealthy liberals who direct donations to progressive causes and organizations.

In follow-up comments to Media Trackers, Saperstein wrote, “Secession would be a gradual process, giving any blacks who felt threatened time to relocate.”

Civil rights victories “would not be lost for any blacks willing to relocate and the ones who relocated would do much better in their new environments,” Saperstein continued.

Not all Gamechanger Salon members were as enthused by the prospect of secession, according to Media Trackers.

“Calling for secession is technically sedition—if we’re going to call out right-wing nutjobs for saying lunatic things like this, then we should be equally prone to chastise our own allies for saying so,” member Ryan Clayton, a campaign finance reform activist, wrote in response to Saperstein.

Progressives often smear the tea party as treasonousneo-confederates” while at the same time begging them to secede and take their undesirable politics with them.

It is unclear how much of the professional left is sympathetic to the cause of Southern independence.

Media Trackers first discovered the existence of Gamechanger Salon through a public records request to a Wisconsin university professor who is a member of the group.

Gamechanger Salon was founded by leftwing activist and Democracy Alliance member Billy Wimsatt and has about 1,000 members, including reporters and columnists from many major news outlets.

Sally Kohn, a CNN commentator, is a member, as are two Huffington Post reporters, Amanda Terkel and Ryan Grim. Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor and publisher of the Nation, is also a member.

America Has Been Warned: Edward Gibbon’s The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire

    November 22, 2014

What can a chronicler of barbarian invasions, writing in the 18th century, explain to Americans in the 21st century? What lessons can we learn today from the fall of an ancient empire? Plenty. Many.

Indeed, as immigration is a hot issue today, we might look to long-ago scholarship to remind us that the basic patriotic loyalty of the home population can never be taken for granted. In particular, if the demography of the population changes, its loyalties will change.

Edward Gibbon’s famous work of history, The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, was published in six volumes, from 1776 to 1788. And the first appearance of that work, of course,—in that evocative year of 1776—has led many to consider its significance to American history. Could America ever fall like that? Could America collapse like the Roman Empire?

Gibbon was English, and yet even after the American Revolution, his work was widely read in the new republic known as the United States; we know, for example, that George Washington included Gibbon in his library.

Indeed, Gibbon’s conservative turn of mind made him particularly popular among the American Founders, who were, after all, themselves conservative. Yes, George Washington & Co. were revolutionaries, but they were definitely not radicals. They rebelled in 1776 to uphold their ancient liberties, not to try new fads.

Indeed, as recently noted here at Breitbart News, the Founders looked to history to tell them what could go wrong with a government; then, with that knowledge in mind, they sought to build in protective checks and balances. So to the Founders, Gibbon’s sober worldview—his statement, for example, that “history is indeed little more than the register of the crimes, follies, and misfortunes of mankind”—coincided with their own thinking, which began with a basic mistrust of human nature. The world, after all, is Fallen; men are not angels.

Come to think of it, maybe American politicians today, too, should be reading Gibbon, because America today is under threat, not least from the sort of demographic transformation—some might call it an invasion—that toppled Rome.

We might consider, for instance, the evidence of President Obama’s Executive Order granting amnesty to millions. “Democrats bet on diversity”—that was the blunt headline in Politico. And we know what that means. If there’s one thing that Barack Obama, Al Sharpton, and La Raza can probably all agree on, it’s that it’s high time for the rule of Americans of European descent to come to an end.

Meanwhile, the Main Stream Media is doing its best to speed up the Multicultural Bandwagon. It’s to be expected, of course, that The New York Times would be cheerleading Obama’s effort, but here’s a similar headline from The Houston Chronicle: “Momentum gathers in Houston for Obama's immigration order.” So we might ask: In the face of this onslaught, what of the Republicans? Aren’t they supposed to be leading the opposition? For the most part, the Republicans seem strangely ineffective. Here’s another Politico headline: “Lack of immigration plan flusters GOP.” As the story puts it,

“Congressional Republicans woke up on Friday morning with no clear legislative response to the president and with their membership scattered across the country on a 10-day Thanksgiving break. Meanwhile, Obama headed to Las Vegas to begin selling his proposal to shield millions of young immigrants and some of their family members.”

Even those who recognize that Politico leans left might be hard pressed to identify any error in the above paragraph.

Yes, Republicans intend to do a lot of litigating, and they will be holding some Congressional hearings. But Iowa talk show host Steve Deace speaks for many concerned citizens when he describes this GOP wordplay as “Sound and fury signifying nothing.”

Indeed, as Quin Hillyer observes, it’s far from certain that many in the Republican elite really oppose what Obama is doing. Oh sure, top Republicans are good ’n’ mad that Obama went around them with that Executive Order, but many of them have already pledged themselves to “comprehensive immigration reform.” In other words, they’re mad at Obama over procedure, not substance.

And yet it’s the substance that matters most. It’s the substance that determines the fate of the nation.

Let’s return to that blunt Politico headline: “Democrats bet on diversity.” And let’s say it: Democrats envision a different America; they look forward to what they call a “Coalition of the Ascendant.” And of course, if one group is rising, then another must be falling—and so we come back to Edward Gibbon.

Gibbon begins his Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire with a look at the ruins of the Roman Forum—once the vital hub of the Republic, then of the Empire. But many centuries later, he recorded, the Forum had disappeared as an urban center; the once-important public space was now just ruins, overgrown with petty farming and overrun by farm animals:

“The forum of the Roman people, where they assembled to enact their laws and elect their magistrates, is now enclosed for the cultivation of pot-herbs, or thrown open for the reception of swine and buffaloes. The public and private edifices, that were founded for eternity, lie prostrate, naked, and broken, like the limbs of a mighty giant; and the ruin is the more visible, from the stupendous relics that have survived the injuries of time and fortune.”

But Gibbon was much more than just a poetic tour-guide; he offered his readers a general theory of historical decline. He began his narrative in the second century AD, when the Roman Empire was at its peak, and then he chronicled the failures of feckless elites, the consequences of demoralized faith, and the disasters of military incompetence. And as we shall see, there was a further problem as well—the danger of outright treachery.

So what went wrong? Why did Rome fall? One problem, as Gibbon makes clear, was the emergence of a welfarist “bread and circuses” policy for the city of Rome. The Empire had been so rich for so long that Rome itself had become a magnet for those looking for a soft life. From around the Empire, people made their way to the capital city.

And so what to do with them when they got there? Inside the city, the governing elites found it easiest to simply buy off the motley population with free food, and to keep them entertained with free shows.

As Gibbon puts it, Rome’s rulers aimed to “relieve the poverty and to amuse the idleness of an innumerable people.” He explains: “For the convenience of the lazy plebeians, the monthly distributions of corn were converted into a daily allowance of bread; a great number of ovens were constructed and maintained at the public expense.”

Moreover, to further pacify the population, the authorities arranged free shows for the public: “The Roman people still considered the Circus as their home, their temple.” As a result,

“From the morning to the evening, careless of the sun or of the rain, the spectators, who sometimes amounted to the number of four hundred thousand, remained in eager attention; their eyes fixed on the horses and charioteers, their minds agitated with hope and fear for the success of the colours which they espoused; and the happiness of Rome appeared to hang on the event of a race.”

If this bread-and-circuses policy doesn’t seem like a policy built to last—you’re right. It wasn’t. The Empire’s Roman core had been hollowed out, and by the Fifth Century, barbarians had overrun much of the realm.

In 410 AD, the Goths besieged the city of Rome itself. As Gibbon explains, the Roman authorities were preparing a defense, but—and this is crucial—“they were unable to guard against the secret conspiracy of their slaves and domestics, who either from birth or interest were attached to the cause of the enemy.”

And so, as Gibbon records, at midnight, disloyal Romans silently opened one of the city’s gates. Thereupon, most Romans “were awakened by the tremendous sound of the Gothic trumpet,” as the enemy rushed in. The result:

“Eleven hundred and sixty-three years after the foundation of Rome, the Imperial city, which had subdued and civilised so considerable a part of mankind, was delivered to the licentious fury of the tribes of Germany and Scythia.”

Yes, of course, the sacking of the city was brutal and bloody. For a while, the conquerors made some attempt to limit the damage, but one thing led to another:

In the pillage of Rome a just preference was given to gold and jewels, which contain the greatest value in the smallest compass and weight, but, after these portable riches had been removed by the more diligent robbers, the palaces of Rome were rudely stripped of their splendid and costly furniture... The most exquisite works of art were roughly handled or wantonly destroyed: many a statue was melted for the sake of the precious materials and many a vase, in the division of the spoil, was shivered into fragments by the stroke of a battleaxe. The acquisition of riches served only to stimulate the avarice of the rapacious barbarians, who proceeded by threats, by blows, and by tortures, to force from their prisoners the confession of hidden treasure.

And so, in the end, the Goths’ conquest of Rome meant “promiscuous massacre to the feeble, the innocent, and the helpless.”

And while Rome had been weakening for many years, the decisive blow that lead to the fall of the city in 410 was betrayal from within.

We’ve been warned: Yes, the nature of the population—loyal or not—matters a great deal.

That’s one of the lessons that Edward Gibbon teaches us. And the Founders, those apt students of history, would most definitely agree.

Study history, to prevent it's repetition.

I got through a couple of the volumes of that book.... Decline and Fall... but gave up eventually. It's not that it's merely boring (it is) but kind of like reading the Bible. You want to read it because you KNOW it says something GOOD and tells you the BAD, but... its so freaking LONG and your mind wanders and you fall asleep drooling into the book (or in my case kindle, which I know isn't good for electronics or pages in a book).

But seriously... history IS important even if people don't like it.

Native Hawaiians Debate Best For Path To Sovereignty

    January 16, 2015

Native Hawaiians could be in line for federal recognition similar to many American Indian tribes. But the issue is inflaming distrust between moderates who support the idea and others who want to see the Hawaiian Kingdom restored.

Before Hawaii became a tourist mecca, the islands were ruled by royal families. The kingdom was overthrown by a group of American businessmen in 1893.

The federal government is now mulling a relationship with Hawaiians that could protect more than 200 programs and secure millions in federal money. Advocates have been seeking federal recognition for more than a decade.

Hawaiian nationalists insist that the kingdom should be restored. Their dominance of the debate could threaten a proposal that could give Native Hawaiians privileges enjoyed by other native groups.

    Feds raid Texas secessionist meeting

    Dylan Baddour, Houston Chronicle | February 23, 2015 | Updated: February 23, 2015 6:02pm

    What if Texas seceded?

See where Texas ranks worldwide in areas like number of billionaires, McDonald's locations and executions.

It seemed like a typical congressional meeting for the Republic of Texas. Senators and the president gathered in the center of a Bryan, Texas, meeting hall, surrounded by public onlookers, to debate issues of the national currency, develop international relations and celebrate the birthday of one of their oldest members.

But this wasn't 1836, and this would be no ordinary legislative conference. Minutes into the meeting a man among the onlookers stood and moved to open the hall door, letting in an armed and armored force of the Bryan Police Department, the Brazos County Sheriff's Office, the Kerr County Sheriff's Office, Agents of the Texas District Attorney, the Texas Rangers and the FBI.

In the end, at least 20 officers corralled, searched and fingerprinted all 60 meeting attendees, before seizing all cellphones and recording equipment in a Valentine's Day 2015 raid on the Texas separatist group.

RELATED: "Republic of Texas wants its day in court"

"We had no idea what was going on," said John Jarnecke, president of the Republic of Texas. "We knew of nothing that would warrant such an action."

The raid was a response to legal summons sent by Republic of Texas members to a Kerr County judge and bank employee, demanding they appear in the Republic's court at the Veterans and Foreign Wars building in Bryan the day the officers stormed in. Jarnecke's group, the subject of a half-hour YouTube documentary, maintains a small working government, including official currency, congress and courts.

"You can't just let people go around filing false documents to judges trying to make them appear in front of courts that aren't even real courts," said Kerr County sheriff Rusty Hierholzer, who led the operation.

He acknowledged he used a "show of force," grouping officers from city, county state and federal law enforcement to serve a search warrant for suspicions of a misdemeanor crime. He said he had worries that some extremists in the group could become violent, citing a 1997 incident when 300 state troopers surrounded an armed Republic leader for a weeklong standoff.

RELATED: "Today in Texas History: Long live Republic of Texas! Separatist group standoff in mountains begins"

"We've had years of bad press, but we're not those people," said Jarnecke of the '97 incident. "But yes, we are still making every attempt to get independence for Texas and we're doing it in a lawful international manner."

The Republic has a lengthy list of qualms with the federal government, among them that Texas was illegally annexed in 1845. But most of their complaints have to do with the behavior of the American legislature and executive. Robert Wilson, a senator in the Republic, equated politicians in Washington D.C. to the "kings and emperors" of the past, and sees Texas independence as part of a worldwide movement for local control.

"This is the century for colonialist ambitions to be reversed," the 78-year-old pastor said. "I've watched a lot of things happen, and the people of the world are fed up. The spirit of the world right now is: make things smaller, move governments closer to home, take back self-rule."

RELATED: "Texas Nationalist group rallies for secession in Austin"

Jarnecke said he was being taxed by a foreign government that he feels doesn't represent him, and protested having to fund bank bailouts and foreign wars.

"According to the U.S. Constitution, the only place any army should be is guarding our own borders, not invading and trying to impose their will on every other country of the world," Jarnecke said.

Still, he and Wilson said their group would not resort to violence, but is working through world courts to get international recognition of an independent Texas. They said their methods are legal, but Sheriff Hierholzer contests that.

"We've had a lot of dealings with Republic of Texas members in the past here, too, flooding the court with simulated documents," he said. "I don't have any problem with them going back to the Republic of Texas but they need to do it through the proper legal channels."

The judge and banker summoned to the Republic's court had been involved in the foreclosure of a member's Kerr County house. The invalid court summon was signed by Susan Cammak, the Kerr County homeowner, and David Kroupa, a Republic of Texas judge from Harris County.

A search warrant, photographed and emailed by a Republic of Texas member before her phone was confiscated, accuses the two of "simulating legal process." It also authorizes the seizure of all computers, media storage, software, cell phones and paper documents. Hierholzer said the seized devices will be downloaded and reviewed to determine if others conspired in the creation and issuance of false court documents.

Police searched and fingerprinted each person at the meeting, but they did not perform cheek-swab DNA testing as the warrant allowed.

No arrests were made in the raid, but the case is still under investigation, Hierholzer said. The FBI and Texas Rangers would not comment.

Jarnecke acknowledged that legislation and court summons issues by the Republic have no real effect, but said the group was close to taking their case to an international court—they haven't yet selected which. He hopes that will be the first step in rallying for Texas independence.

RELATED: "Texas separatist still thinks cause will succeed"

"I'm positive we will get out independence back at some point in time," he said. "Now we're just trying to nip things in the bud ahead of time to make sure the people are the ones that have the power when it happens, not the government."

Military training drills taking place in Broward

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Broward Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies will be assisting the military as they conduct training exercises in the skies over the next two weeks.

Officials are advising residents not to be alarmed by the Black Hawk helicopters in the sky.

The urban training drills will be similar to those conducted in Miami-Dade last month.

Massive Martial Law Roundup Drill Of Americans In The Streets - Florida

NEW ON ANP! Remember What Happened At Night In Nazi Germany! Are These Videos Proof We're About To Experience The Same Events With Jade Helm 15 Invading America?

A massive roundup of Americans martial law style with black choppers everywhere and Americans being rounded up in the streets and marched away has occurred in the video below just released by Dahboo777 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We are rushing this story out and will get more as we can. This was a 3-hour long drill that went on Thursday night and as anyone watching this can see, it does not appear to be of a 'benevolent' nature.

******** carried a story on these drills several days ago warning that the drills were basically designed to 'scare the crap' out of people according to one reporter.
After residents in downtown Fort Lauderdale began reporting low flying military helicopters last night at around 8pm, news reports emerged hours later containing details of a DoD training drill that would be taking place from March 24-27, suggesting that residents were only informed of the exercise after it had already begun.

The training drill will take place in locations throughout the county and will be aided by law enforcement.

“This training is not open to the public or media due to safety and security concerns,” states a press release on the Broward Sheriff’s Office website.

“This type of training where military helicopters go around scaring the crap out of people has been conducted in different cities across the country and is designed to certify service members in urban environment operations for any future overseas deployments,” writes Chris Joseph of the Broward/Palm Beach New Times, adding, “Don’t panic. Those military aircraft and soldiers you see down the street are only a drill.”

Default Re: Will America Break Up?

    Nice video by Bracken but...

With regards to those DHS-types shown at the beginning, I guess the remaining sliver of optimist in me hopes they are the types that signed up to help protect our country and their fellow countrymen.

The pessimist in me thinks that there may be a significant number that would pass up nebulous ideals like "liberty" and "freedom" when something more concrete as their paycheck that puts food on the family's table and a roof over their head is at stake.

Let's face facts, as Ferguson and a whole slew of other locations have shown, Leftists are the most apt to resort to violence so I'd like our guys to deal with them as effectively as possible and only training helps make that happen.

I just have a hard time accepting anything government related happening under Obama as benign.
