Congressional Campaign Committee e-mail making the rounds on behalf of someone named Mark Critz, we have the ultimate in left-wing projection – James Carville using the word “reptile” to describe political opponents:

First there was Sarah Palin. Now we can add another Republican reptile from the past trying to help the GOP win House races this year – former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.

Last weekend, Santorum whipped up a crowd of thousands of tea party extremists over the upcoming May 18th special election for the Pennsylvania House seat that was held by the late, great Congressman Jack Murtha.

Even worse, national Republicans just dropped a whopping $247,000 to spread lies and fear-mongering attack ads in this race. I need your help to fight back so we can keep this critical House seat blue. He needs just another $25,000 more for his rapid response efforts before Monday to keep pace.

“The late, great Jack Murtha” all by itself is a pretty pungent phrase. What was great about him? ABSCAM? Defaming the Haditha Marines? Building monuments to himself with our money?

One wonders if in his dotage Carville, who in truth was past his prime in 1994 (and is proving it with his ridiculous stewardship of Charlie Melancon’s moribund Senate campaign), hasn’t grown exceedingly contemptuous of Democrat voters. The letter comes off as slapdash and half-hearted, with boilerplate generic rhetoric about “Republican lies” and “fear-mongering” and “tea party extremists” and “nut jobs” designed to freak out every union capo and LGBT stormtrooper across the fruited plain – and an exhortation to give $5 to Critz.

$5?

If it was really so crucial for Critz to beat back the Republican nut jobs and tea party extremists, wouldn’t $50 be more appropriate than $5? Or does Carville just think all the Democrats are broke? And if so, isn’t that an admission that his party’s performance with respect to the economy ought to disqualify them from holding seats like the one Critz is running for against Tim Burns?

According to a survey this week by Public Policy Polling, a Democrat outfit, Burns leads Critz 44-41 in a district which is 55 percent Democrat. The special election in May 18.

Malloy: Beck and Limbaugh Want Oklahoma City Bombing Repeated 'Endlessly'

Radical left-wing radio talker Mike Malloy was predictably overwrought on April 19 in remembering the Oklahoma City bombing. He claimed Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh greeted that mass murder with clapping and dancing, and wanted it endlessly repeated:

Today, I think Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh want today to be declared, uh, a national holiday. I suggest it be called Beck Memorial Day. This is the kind of day 15 years ago when Beck was still working, uh, in a bath house as a towel boy. This is the kind of day that, 15 years ago that Beck, when he woke up and heard about the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building he applauded. He clapped. He danced. He jumped around like a drop of water on a hot pancake griddle! He was just as happy as could be! This is what Beck and Limbaugh and the rest of these right wing freaks want to see happen again. And again. And again. Endlessly.

He went to a commercial break, but not before a bluegrassy musical teaser with hillbillies singing "Wouldn’t it be great if everybody had a gun?" A happy man proclaimed: "Then we wouldn’t need the police no more!"

Earlier in his first hour on Monday, Malloy also said "It’s illegal to carry a handgun in DC. I guess they could have carried a flamethrower or a bazooka, or have been driving a tank." He somehow completely forgot the Supreme Court's Heller decision opening up gun rights in DC, but he called the gun activists "dumb bastards." He also claimed "you can’t even vote" in DC, which might be a surprise to the elected mayor and city council.

After the bluegrass hillbillies/commercial break, Malloy repeated, "You just know Beck was just hoping for something bloody and murderous would occur. He's been directing his minions to do this."



On his radio show on Monday, former CNN and MSNBC talker Bill Press said Rush Limbaugh was "just totally nuts" to blame Bill Clinton for violence for suggesting on ABC and in speeches that anti-government rhetoric could lead to violence. Press protested:

Clinton is warning that violent words lead to violent action, and Rush blames him? That's like blaming Smokey the Bear for forest fires!

Press also sided with a caller who suggested the Tea Parties and their radio enablers are on the line or have crossed the line into "sedition." The caller was a dad who said he just couldn't explain to sun this "tearing apart the president," so he asked:

CALLER: At what point does all of this become sedition? At what point does this become --

PRESS: You know what?

CALLER: -- something we can get people off the air with?

PRESS: I don't have a ready answer for that, but I have to tell you, I think it comes very close to the line, if not crossing the line -- I mentioned the Whiskey Rebellion not so long ago. They were the first teabaggers in this country, and George Washington got the U.S. Army and marched to Pennsylvania to put them down because they were protesting to the point of wanting to overthrow the government. And the language that I hear, when you talk about tyrannical socialism, that's awfully close to sedition.

I thought it was a verb. I am reminded of the hours spent sitting in the principles office in high school after "promoting discontent" i.e. being in disagreement with my history teacher. I suppose in the strictest sense of the word I was/am a seditionist.

The Left’s War on Tea Partiers

Opponents of the popular expression of conservative opposition to big government, the tea party, regularly note that tea partiers are overwhelmingly white. This is intended to disqualify the tea parties from serious moral consideration.

But there are two other facts that are far more troubling:
The first is the observation itself. The fact that the Left believes that the preponderance of whites among tea partiers invalidates the tea party movement tells us much more about the Left than it does about the tea partiers.

It confirms that the Left really does see the world through the prism of race, gender and class rather than through the moral prism of right and wrong.
One of the more dangerous features of the Left has been its replacement of moral categories of right and wrong, and good and evil with three other categories: black and white (race), male and female (gender) and rich and poor (class).

Therefore the Left pays attention to the skin color — and gender (not just “whites” but “white males”) — of the tea partiers rather than to their ideas.
One would hope that all people would assess ideas by their moral rightness or wrongness, not by the race, gender or class of those who hold them. But in the world of the Left, people are taught not to assess ideas but to identify the race, class and gender of those who espouse those ideas. This helps explain the widespread use of ad hominem attacks by the Left: Rather than argue against their opponents’ ideas, the Left usually dismisses those making the argument disagreed with as “racist,” “intolerant,” “bigoted,” “sexist,” “homophobic” and/or “xenophobic.”

You’re against race-based affirmative action? No need to argue the issue because you’re a racist. You’re a tea partier against ever-expanding government? No need to argue the issue because you’re a racist.

As a Leftist rule of thumb — once again rendering intellectual debate unnecessary and impossible — white is wrong or bad, and non-white is right and good; male is wrong and bad, and female is right and good; and the rich are wrong and bad, and the poor right and good. For the record, there is one additional division on the Left — strong and weak — to which the same rule applies: The strong are wrong and bad, and the weak are right and good. That is a major reason for Leftist support of the Palestinians (weak) against the Israelis (strong), for example.

This is why, to cite another example, men are dismissed when they oppose abortion. The idea is far less significant than the sex of the advocate. As for women who oppose abortion on demand, they are either not authentically female or simply traitors to their sex. Just as the Left depicts blacks who oppose race-based affirmative action as not authentic blacks or are traitors to their race.

In this morally inverted world, the virtual absence of blacks from tea party rallies cannot possibly reflect anything negative on the black and minority absence, only on the white tea partiers.

But in a more rational and morally clear world, where people judge ideas by their legitimacy rather than by the race of those who held them, people would be as likely to ask why blacks and ethnic minorities are virtually absent at tea parties just as they now ask why whites predominate. They would want to know if this racial imbalance said anything about black and minority views or necessarily reflected negatively on the whites attending those rallies.

And if they did ask such un-PC questions, they might draw rather different conclusions than the Left’s. First, they would know that the near-absence of blacks and Hispanics no more implied racism on the part of tea partiers than the near-absence of blacks and Hispanics in the New York Philharmonic implies racism on the art of that orchestra.

Second, they might even, Heaven forbid, conclude that it does not reflect well on the political outlook of blacks and Hispanics that they so overwhelmingly identify with ever-larger government. Leftist big-government policies have been disastrous for black America just as they were in the countries that most Hispanics emigrated from. But like the gambling addict who keeps gambling the more he loses, those addicted to government entitlements keep increasing the size of the government even as their situation worsens.

Finally, if one eschews the “racism” explanation and asks real questions, one might also conclude that America generally, and conservatives specifically, have failed to communicate America’s distinct values — E Pluribus Unum, In God We Trust, and Liberty (which includes small government) — to blacks and Hispanics.

Unfortunately, however, no real exploration of almost any important issue in American life is possible as long as the Left focuses on the race, gender and class of those who hold differing positions. And that will not happen. For when the Left stops attacking people and starts arguing positions, we will see what the Left most fears: blacks and Hispanics at tea parties.

Rep. Andre Carson: Tea Party Protesters Are ‘One of the Largest Threats to our Internal Security’

Andre Carson gathered Capitol Hill reporters around him and told the tale of racial slurs and menacing crowds on the verge of hurling rocks at the congressmen. Our first few videos showed the congressmen coming out of the Cannon Office Building, walking down the steps and into Independence Avenue from various angles. None of those videos revealed the racial hatred Rep. Carson conveyed to reporters that day and none of the videos showed a mob rushing or in any way impeding the congressmen.

When Rep. Carson gathered reporters around him to spread the myth of racial slurs being hurled “fifteen times” he painted the protesters not just as racists, but as a terrorist threat. We know this, because Kerry Picket of the Washington Times recorded Rep. Carson as he explained it all to eager reporters.

KERRY PICKET (Wash. Times): Do you think the people outside are generally dangerous or no?
REP. CARSON: Oh absolutely. I worked in homeland security. I’m from intelligence, and I’ll tell you, one of the largest threats to our internal security…I mean terrorism has an Islamic face, but it really comes from racial supremacist groups. (inaudible) Its the kind of thing we keep a threat assessment on record [for].
PICKET: From groups like this?
REP. CARSON: Oh absolutely.

And we can now see this two pronged message continuing in the narrative from Democratic politicians and the media: The Tea Party protests are really about white rage and they are sowing the seeds for domestic terrorism.

This was the message delivered by Rep. Carson that afternoon and that is the message the media has run with.

Only problem is, we can’t find any proof to back up Rep. Carson’s story. And when challenged, he hides behind the legend and stature of Rep. Lewis. The constant challenge of “Are you calling Rep. John Lewis a liar?” must now be answered with “Are you calling Rep. Andre Carson beyond reproach?”.

You see Utah’s Bob Bennett, who had a few moments of apostasy in the congregation’s eyes and dared to bow at the altar of bipartisanship, and he is brutally excommunicated.

You see Arizona’s John McCain, who couldn’t please the faithful as a presidential nominee and now is campaigning as a Joe Arpaio disciple, and he may be the next to be expelled from the Church of the Conservatives.

And, closer to home, you see Sue Lowden and Brian Sandoval, who are desperately trying to preach the right gospel and make the parishioners sing along, and yet they are getting crushed in straw poll after straw poll.

For what it’s worth, the moderate-cleansing in the Republican Party in these days of tea and poses could pay off in the short run for the candidates who can deliver the best conservative sermons and fool some of the small electoral universe on June 8. But four weeks before voters who don’t cast ballots early go to the polls, you can almost smell it in the air in the U.S. Senate and gubernatorial primaries — the scent of uncertainty, even of fear.

Sen. Graham Predicts Tea Party Movement Will Die Out

(RTTNews) - In a move that could lead to a backlash from the conservative grassroots groups, Senator Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has said that the Tea Party movement is "unsustainable" and "will die out."

"The problem with the Tea Party," Graham said in an interview with New York Times Magazine posted online Thursday, "I think it's just unsustainable because they can never come up with a coherent vision for governing the country."

Graham said that his private meetings with members of the party have convinced him that the party "will die out."

The lawmaker also admitted that his stances on the climate, immigration and Guantanamo Bay have put him at odds with the Tea Party, stating that his beliefs on those issues are "completely opposite of where the Tea Party movement's at."

In addition, Graham lamented the direction he sees the Republican Party as a whole heading in, stating that it does not welcome differing viewpoints.

"We don't have a lot of Reagan-type leaders in our party," Graham said. "Remember Ronald Reagan Democrats? I want a Republican that can attract Democrats. Ronald Reagan would have a hard time getting elected as a Republican today."

Graham was re-elected in 2008 and has been censured multiple times by county party organizations in his home state due to his efforts to work with Democrats on issues such as energy legislation and immigration.
