Texas Governor Rick Perry said a record number of illegal immigrants from Syria, Pakistan and Afghanistan have been apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border.
On Sunday's State of the Union on CNN, Perry said the "historic record highs" of individuals from "countries that have substantial terrorist ties" threaten America's national security.
Later on the program, Rep. Mike McCaul (R-TX), the House Homeland Security Committee Chair, said Iranian terrorists have had plans to sneak across the border. He also said that others who want to do harm are seeking to exploit America's porous border.
Perry also said that since 2008, 203,000 illegal immigrants have been put in Texas' jails, and those illegal immigrants "have been responsible for 3,000 homicides and almost 8,000 sexual assaults."
"I wish the President would respect that desire of Texans and the citizens of this country to secure the border," Perry said. "That's the real issue here—and one that all too often gets deflected by the conversation about unaccompanied minor children."

Washington (CNN) – It’s a “very real possibility” that individuals with the extremist
group ISIS may have crossed into the United States at the southern border, Texas
Gov. Rick Perry said Thursday, though he added he doesn’t have any evidence.
Because the border is insecure, Perry said that “individuals from ISIS or other terrorist
states could be” taking advantage of the situation. “I think it's a very real possibility
that they may have already used that,” he told an audience at the Heritage Foundation
in Washington.
“We have no clear evidence of that,” he continued.
Perry said Texas has seen historic levels of individuals from countries with terrorist ties
recently, including three Ukrainians arrested on a ranch in West Texas in the past two
months, he said.
Perry used the argument to frame the broken border situation as a matter of national
security.
“We need to have clear and compelling forces, both law and enforcement and
otherwise, to send the message that the border is secure,” the potential 2016
Republican presidential candidate said.
ISIS, a Sunni Muslim extremist group that refers to itself as the Islamic State, has
waged a rapid campaign across Iraq this summer seizing towns and villages and
targeting Christians, minority sects, and Shia Muslims.
In his remarks, Perry called for a more robust response to ISIS in Iraq, saying the
Obama administration’s recent actions have been inadequate.
“When they talk about limited airstrikes, they place a great emphasis on the word
'limited,’ yet clearly more airstrikes are necessary,” he said. “Nothing less than a
sustained air campaign to degrade and destroy ISIS forces is required.”
Asked by a reporter in the audience if he would support combat troops on the ground,
Perry said, “all your options have to be open.”

October 2014 – AFRICA – CDC Director Tom Frieden on Friday said restricting travel between the U.S. and West Africa would likely “backfire” and put Americans more at risk of contracting Ebola. Appearing on MSNBC, Frieden was asked about potentially prohibiting air travel between the U.S. and West Africa, where the Ebola outbreak is most widespread. He said that such a restriction would likely be ineffective and would make it harder for health officials to root out the virus. “The only way we’re going to get to zero risk is by stopping the outbreak at the source” in West Africa, Frieden said. “Even if we tried to close the border, it wouldn’t work,” the top health official added. “People have a right to return. People transiting through could come in. And it would backfire, because by isolating these countries, it’ll make it harder to help them, it will spread more there and we’d be more likely to be exposed here.” Frieden’s comments come as health officials continue to screen up to 100 people in Texas in connection with Liberian national Thomas Eric Duncan, who is in isolation at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.
Duncan flew to the U.S. on September 19, but the CDC said that he was screened before his flight in Monrovia and showed no symptoms of Ebola. Health officials say his temperature was 97.3 degrees and that he was not contagious on the flight, meaning his fellow passengers were not at risk. While in Liberia, Duncan had contact with a woman who had the virus and carried her from a taxi, according to The New York Times. On Friday, Frieden said that airport screenings are reducing risks. “There are a lot of checks in place. It’s not perfect,” he said. In several interviews, including at a Thursday news briefing, the CDC director has expressed confidence that the health officials will be able to contain the spread of the virus in the U.S. On Thursday evening, NBC announced that a freelance journalist working in Liberia had contracted Ebola and quarantined himself on Wednesday. –Politico

Breitbart Texas exclusively obtained leaked information on the Iraqi man who was apprehended while illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border into Texas on February 12, 2015. The Border Patrol agent responsible for interviewing the subject initially expressed concerns that the Iraqi was sent by Russia, largely due to the Iraqi man’s history as a military trainer, his speaking several languages, including Russian, and his having lived in Crimea, according to one of the leaked documents. Breitbart Texas was provided with two documents by a federal agent who works under the umbrella of Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The agent insisted on remaining anonymous.
The Iraqi man is named Ahmed Adnan Taha, Al Khafaji. His date of birth is 6-25-84. He has one sister in the U.S., one in Turkey, three brothers in Turkey, one in Ukraine, one in New York State, and three brothers in Iraq, according to the leaked documents.
The Iraqi told U.S. authorities that he spoke fluent Russian and lived in Crimea prior to the Russian invasion. He further stated that a Ukrainian paid $4,000 for him to get to the U.S., however, the Iraqi refused to identify the Ukrainian to U.S. authorities.
The public statement given by Border Patrol at the time of the Iraqi’s apprehension stated, “On Thursday, February 12, 2015, RGV Border Patrol Agents encountered an adult Middle Eastern male south of Pharr, Texas. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Border Patrol station for further processing. The subject was setup for Expedited Removal back to his country of origin and transferred to the custody of ICE/ERO.”
Breitbart Texas recently asked the Border Patrol agency about the specifics in this report and their spokesman for the Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) responded, “All record checks were conducted, our federal partners did interview the subject with no derogatory information being found.”
It is significant to note that Border Patrol processing an individual does not mean that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actually deported the individual.

Two federal agents operating under the umbrella of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are claiming that eight Syrian illegal aliens attempted to enter Texas from Mexico in the Laredo Sector. The federal agents spoke with Breitbart Texas on the condition of anonymity, however, a local president of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) confirmed that Laredo Border Patrol agents have been officially contacting the organization with concerns over reports from other federal agents about Syrians illegally entering the country in the Laredo Sector. The reports have caused a stir among the sector’s Border Patrol agents.
The sources claimed that eight Syrians were apprehended on Monday, November 16, 2015. According to the sources, the Syrians were in two separate “family units” and were apprehended at the Juarez Lincoln Bridge in Laredo, Texas, also known officially as Port of Entry 1.
Border Patrol agent and NBPC Local 2455 President Hector Garza told Breitbart Texas, “Border Patrol agents who we represent have been contacting our organization to voice concerns about reports from other agents that Syrians crossed the U.S. border from Mexico in the Laredo Sector. Our agents have heard about Syrians being apprehended in the area from other federal agents.” Agent Garza added, “At this time, I cannot confirm or deny that Syrians have crossed, for security reasons.”
Agent Garza further stated that in matters as sensitive as Syrians crossing the border from Mexico, it would be highly unlikely that federal agencies would publicize it or inform a broad group of law enforcement. He did say that Local 2455 is taking the reports seriously and that they “will be issuing an officer safety bulletin advising Border Patrol agents to exercise extra precautions as they patrol the border.”
5 Syrian refugees detained in Honduras en route to U.S.
Tegucigalpa (AFP) - Honduran authorities have arrested five Syrians intending to make it to the United States with stolen Greek passports, triggering alarm Wednesday in the wake of the Paris attacks launched by Syria-linked jihadists. The Syrians were arrested on Tuesday as they flew into Toncontin airport serving the Honduran capital and failed to make it past airport security checks, a police spokesman, Anibal Baca, told reporters.
"Five Syrian citizens have been detained and will be taken to our offices to be investigated because it is suspected they are carrying false documents, passports stolen in Greece," Baca said.
They had traveled by air from Syria to Lebanon, then to Turkey, Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica and on to Honduras.
From there they were to make their way to Honduras' second city of San Pedro Sula with the aim of going overland through Guatemala, then Mexico and on to the United States, Baca told AFP.
The reasons for the Syrians' trip were not immediately known, and Honduran police were considering the possibility that they were refugees fleeing the war in Syria. View gallery

"We are not saying they are terrorists," Baca said. "They are being investigated for using false passports. It could be they are fleeing war. That is being investigated."
Countries involved in the Syria conflict, including the United States, have been on alert for possible attacks since the killings in Paris last Friday and the October 31 bombing of a Russian passenger jet leaving Egypt.
Those attacks have been claimed by the Islamic State group based in Iraq and Syria. One of the gunmen in the Paris attacks was carrying a Syrian passport used to transit through Greece, though authorities have not confirmed that he was the man in the document.
Honduras on Monday said it had reinforced security in its ports and airports following the French attacks.
A spokesman for the country's Inter-institutional Security Force, Lieutenant Colonel Santos Nolasco, said that day that Honduras was part of a route to the United States often used by unauthorized migrants.
This year, 12,600 foreigners were detected illegally entering Honduras, almost all of them with the aim of getting to the United States, Nolasco said.
Those detained by authorities include nationals of Somalia, Iran, Ghana, Ethiopia, Senegal, Cameroon, Guinea, Sri Lanka, Eritrea, Togo, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal, as well as of other Latin American countries.

Prominent Mexican officials are calling on their president to open the doors for 10,000 Syrian refugees, though thousands of Mexicans per year are fleeing their cartel-controlled nation and its violence and seeking asylum in the United States. The move comes on the heels of Mexico accepting 30 Syrian students. Other nations south of the porous U.S.-Mexico border have already opened their doors for people fleeing the Middle East.
Considering the Mexican government’s inability to govern its own territory and the willingness of Mexican officials to accept cash bribes, one could question whether their screening process would exclude potentially dangerous individuals. Even in the case of an individual being identified having a connection to a terrorist organization, a wealthy benefactor or ally of the individual could simply pay off a decision-maker and get the individual through.
An article posted by the GlobalPost.com built a case for Mexico opening the doors for Syrians. They wrote:

Yet the Mexican government has done surprisingly little to help the four million Syrians forced to flee their country’s bloody conflict, an exodus that has triggered Europe’s worst migration crisis since World War II.
The leaders of Latin America’s second largest economy have been strangely silent as neighbors such as Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Venezuela open their doors to the refugees.
But Mexico’s reticence is starting to change.
Senators of all political stripes on Thursday implored President Enrique Peña Nieto and his government to allow in as many Syrian refugees as possible.
Leaked documents previously obtained and published by Breitbart Texas revealed that an increasing number of Syrians were apprehended trying to illegally enter the U.S., with the numbers drastically increasing between Fiscal Years 2013-2014. A United Nations report published in 2013 revealed that Middle Easterners and people from the Horn of Africa routinely traveled to South America and Mexico to illegally enter the U.S., so we know that the networks exist for Syrians to attempt an irregular migration effort from South America and Mexico to the southern U.S. border and and beyond into the U.S. interior.
MEXICO CITY – The full Senate unanimously approved the motion to request that the federal government open its borders to greatest possible number of Syrian refugees who are fleeing the humanitarian crisis taking place in the middle eastern country.
The senators asked the Foreign Relations Secretariat to call on the United Nations Organization to convene an urgent and special session so that all member countries contribute to solutions to the migration crisis that Europe is suffering.
The Board of Directors of the Senate Secretary Martha Palafox Gutiérrez, Labor Party senator, read the petition that the senate sent to President Enrique Peña Nieto’s government so that the Mexican borders would be opened to give asylum to the Syrian refugees.
National Action Party (PAN) Senator Ernesto Cordero Arroyo said that Mexico must be sensible to the crisis of displaced persons, which is why the senate asked for the solidarity of authorities and the general population in accepting the refugees.
“The Syrian civil war is causing more displacement than any other conflict in the world. Every day 6,000 more Syrians escape their country because of the war, without the faintest idea of where to go or who will take them in,” said Cordero.
“We must remember that Mexico has sustained an important tradition of asylum, of giving protection to people that have fled prosecution, violence and situations that threaten their lives. We would look bad and be bad if we don’t continue this tradition. Mexico can’t fail on this occasion,” he continued.
The assembly also asked the federal government to exercise its leadership in the international community and contribute to the creation and design of actions that will drive Syria toward peace.
They were apparently headed to Guatemala, then into Mexico, with their final destination being the United States, crossing over our largely-unprotected border.
The Syrian men were held late on Tuesday in the Honduran capital, Tegucigalpa, on arrival from Costa Rica, and had been planning to head to the border with neighboring Guatemala. The passports had been doctored to replace the photographs with those of the Syrians, police said.
“We received information from (fellow) police services that these five Syrians left Greece and passed through Turkey, Brazil, Argentina and San Jose in Costa Rica before finally reaching Tegucigalpa,” said Anibal Baca, spokesman for Honduras’ police.
Officially, Mexico has taken in only 30 Syrian nationals since September, according to El Financiero.
Of course, large numbers of foreign nationals from such countries as China and various Muslim nations are regularly caught by the Border Patrol, entering this nation illegally from Mexico.
Given the lack of cooperation from the vastly corrupt government of Mexico on border security, we can soon expect to see large numbers of so-called Syrian refugees infiltrating this country.

Five young Middle Eastern men were apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol this week in an Arizona town situated about 30 miles from the Mexican border, law enforcement and other sources told Judicial Watch.
Border Patrol agents spotted the men crossing a ranch property in the vicinity of Amado, which is located about 35 miles south of Tucson and has a population of 275. Two of the Middle Eastern men were carrying stainless steel cylinders in backpacks, JW’s sources say, alarming Border Patrol officials enough to call the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for backup. A multitude of federal agents descended on the property and the two men carrying the cylinders were believed to be taken into custody by the FBI.
Only three of the men’s names were entered in the Border Patrol’s E3 reporting system, which is used by the agency to track apprehensions, detention hearings and removals of illegal immigrants. E3 also collects and transmits biographic and biometric data including fingerprints for identification and verification of individuals encountered at the border. The other two men were listed as “unknown subjects,” which is unheard of, according to a JW federal law enforcement source. “In all my years I’ve never seen that before,” a veteran federal law enforcement agent told JW.
The disturbing incident comes just days after six men—one from Afghanistan, five from Pakistan—were arrested in nearby Patagonia, a quaint ranch town that sits 20 miles north of the Mexican border city of Nogales. Federal authorities have confirmed the November 17 arrests and a local news outlet published a story that includes an official statement from the Border Patrol. Special Agent Kurt Remus in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Phoenix headquarters told JW that the agency’s Joint Terrorism Task Forces vetted and interviewed the six men and determined that there were “no obvious signs of terrorism” so they were returned to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody.
However, Special Agent Remus told JW that there is no record of this week’s incident in Amado and that he knew nothing about it. JW also put in a call to DHS headquarters, but received no response. In the last year JW has broken a number of stories involving serious terrorist threats on the southern border that were disputed on the record by various Obama administration officials. Among these is an April report—confirmed by high-level Mexican authorities—about ISIS operating camps near the U.S. border in areas known as Anapra and Puerto Palomas west of Ciudad Juárez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.
Last fall JW was the first to report on an Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) plot orchestrated from Ciudad Juárez to attack the U.S. with car bombs or other vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED). As a result of JW’s reporting Ft. Bliss, the U.S. Army base in El Paso, increased security. The threat was imminent enough to place agents across a number of Homeland Security, Justice and Defense agencies on alert. A few weeks later JW reported that four ISIS terrorists were arrested by federal authorities and the Texas Department of Public Safety in McAllen and Pharr.

(Judicial Watch) – Mexican drug traffickers help Islamic terrorists stationed in Mexico cross into the United States to explore targets for future attacks, according to information forwarded to Judicial Watch by a high-ranking Homeland Security official in a border state. Among the jihadists that travel back and forth through the porous southern border is a Kuwaiti named Shaykh Mahmood Omar Khabir, an ISIS operative who lives in the Mexican state of Chihuahua not far from El Paso, Texas. Khabir trained hundreds of Al Qaeda fighters in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Yemen and has lived in Mexico for more than a year, according to information provided by JW’s government source.
Now Khabir trains thousands of men—mostly Syrians and Yemenis—to fight in an ISIS base situated in the Mexico-U.S. border region near Ciudad Juárez, the intelligence gathered by JW’s source reveals. Staking out U.S. targets is not difficult and Khabir actually brags in an Italian newspaper article published last week that the border region is so open that he “could get in with a handful of men, and kill thousands of people in Texas or in Arizona in the space of a few hours.” Foreign Affairs Secretary Claudia Ruiz, Mexico’s top diplomat, says in the article that she doesn’t understand why the Obama administration and the U.S. media are “culpably neglecting this phenomenon,” adding that “this new wave of fundamentalism could have nasty surprises in store for the United States.”
This disturbing development appears on the Open Source Enterprise, the government database that collects and analyzes valuable material from worldwide print, broadcast and online media sources for the U.S. intelligence community. Only registered federal, state and local government employees can view information and analysis in the vast database and unauthorized access can lead to criminal charges. Updated data gathered on Khabir reveals he’s 52 years old and was ordered to leave Kuwait about a decade ago over his extremist positions. Khabir is currently on ISIS’s (also known as ISIL) payroll and operates a cell in an area of Mexico known as Anapra, according to the recently obtained information.
A year ago Judicial Watch reported on an ISIS camp in this exact area, just a few miles from El Paso. JW’s April 14, 2015 report identified Anapra as the location of the ISIS base, details that were provided to JW by sources that include a Mexican Army field grade officer and a Mexican Federal Police Inspector. Anapra is situated just west of Ciudad Juárez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. At the time JW reported that another ISIS cell was established to the west of Ciudad Juárez, in Puerto Palomas to target the New Mexico towns of Columbus and Deming. Sources told JW that, during the course of a joint operation, Mexican Army and federal law enforcement officials discovered documents in Arabic and Urdu, as well as “plans” of Fort Bliss – the sprawling military installation that houses the US Army’s 1st Armored Division. Muslim prayer rugs were recovered with the documents during the operation.
A few months later JW reported that Mexican drug cartels are smuggling Middle Eastern terrorists into a small Texas rural town near El Paso and that they’re using remote farm roads—rather than interstates—to elude the Border Patrol and other law enforcement barriers. The foreigners are classified by the U.S. government as Special Interest Aliens (SIA) and they are transported to stash areas in Acala, a rural crossroads located around 54 miles from El Paso on a state road – Highway 20. Once in the U.S., the SIAs wait for pick-up in the area’s sand hills just across Highway 20. At the time JW’s government sources revealed that terrorists have long entered the U.S. through Mexico and in fact, an internal Texas Department of Public Safety report leaked by the media documents that several members of known Islamist terrorist organizations have been apprehended crossing the southern border in recent years.
Earlier this year, as part of an ongoing investigation into national security risks in the porous southern border, JW obtained evidence that proves the U.S. government has known for more than a decade about the partnership between terrorists and Mexican drug cartels. State Department documents made public by JW in January say that for at least ten years “Arab extremists” have entered the country through Mexico with the assistance of smuggling network “cells.” Among them was a top Al Qaeda operative wanted by the FBI. Some Mexican smuggling networks actually specialize in providing logistical support for Arab individuals attempting to enter the United States, the government documents say. The top Al Qaeda leader in Mexico was identified in the September 2004 cable from the American consulate in Ciudad Juárez as Adnan G. El Shurkrjumah. The cable was released to Judicial Watch under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

“The FBI was in possession of records consisting of photographs and travel records, as well as written accounts from other government agencies, which show that the statements Muhammad made during his interviews by the USBP and the FBI were materially false, fictitious or fraudulent.” Why would Juvaid Muhammad be lying and trying to enter the U.S. illegally? Border Patrol agents arrested a Pakistani man on May 8, when he illegally crossed the Texas-Mexico border.
Agents arrested Javaid Muhammad, who admitted crossing the border illegally, according to the federal criminal complaint against him. Court records don’t specify where Muhammad crossed the border, but the charge against him was filed in the McAllen Division of the Southern District of Texas.
Border Patrol agents interviewed Muhammad and he provided a sworn statement about the journey from Pakistan to Texas.
When FBI agents interviewed Muhammad on May 12, though, he told a different story, according to the criminal complaint.
“The FBI was in possession of records consisting of photographs and travel records, as well as written accounts from other government agencies, which show that the statements Muhammad made during his interviews by the USBP and the FBI were materially false, fictitious or fraudulent,” according to the criminal complaint.
FBI agents confronted Muhammad — who claimed to never have visited Ecuador or Chile — with photographs of his Chilean residence card and Ecuadorian passport.
“Muhammad admitted the statement he provided to the USBP was false, and also admitted to lying to the FBi during his interview,” according to the criminal complaint.
FBI agents charged Muhammad with knowingly and willfully lying to federal agents….

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents working with Mexican immigration officials have found thousands of non-Hispanic illegal immigrants crossing Mexico’s southern border to make their way to Texas. The “extra-continental” immigrants enter countries as far south as Brazil and make their way to the United States, often with forged travel documents. “The reality is that the vast majority of the people that Mexico encounters [on its southern border] that are extra-continental will eventually end up on our border,” a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) official told Reuters this week. The Reuters article confirmed the Syrian nationals reported at the Mexican border with Laredo last year by Breitbart Texas’s Brandon Darby and Ildefonso Ortiz are part of this growing pattern of illegal migration. Just a few days after that, Darby and this writer broke the news of six men from Pakistan and Afghanistan being arrested about sixteen miles inside the United States in Arizona. Those men were quickly snatched up from the Border Patrol’s custody by the FBI.
Since that time, the federal government has been largely silent on the numbers of what they call “Special Interest Aliens” (SIA) being captured in Texas and other border states. The new information obtained by Reuters shows that 6,342 SIAs were apprehended at Mexico’s southern border. That number is up significantly from a 2015 total of 4,261 SIAs. Only 1,831 were reported for all of 2014 when Breitbart Texas’ Brandon Darby reported a leaked intelligence document from CBP official showing countries from all over the world were exploiting the porous southern border between the United States and Mexico. Most of those SIA tend to enter the U.S. through Texas.
That document revealed large numbers of illegal aliens being apprehended in the United States from China, Pakistan, Egypt, Yemen, North Africa, and other Middle Eastern countries.
The problem is so large in Mexico, officials have set up a detention camp in Tapachula, near Mexico’s southern border with Guatemala. CBP officials have been training the Mexican immigration officials on interview techniques. They have also been using U.S. databases to investigate the background of these immigrants to Mexico, Reuters reported.
“The Tapachula area is along a permeable border. DHS (Department of Homeland Security) views it as one of the areas where a terrorist group that wants to do harm on U.S. soil would be most likely to come in,” Adam Isacson, a security and border policy analyst at The Washington Office on Latin America, a non-profit human rights advocacy group, told Reuters.
These CBP officials have been stationed in southern Mexico since last October according to the documents obtained by Reuters. The operation is similar to a program set up on Panama by CBP earlier this year.
