Default The Cloward-Piven And Now Obama Strategy

The Cloward-Piven Strategy is scary and fascinating.

The author adds Barry O. to the mix. While I agree it appears Barry O. is involved in this strategy, I'm not yet convinced his thesis is totally correct.

    http://pajamasmedia.com/zombie/2010/08/16/the-obama-piven-strategy/?singlepage=true

We are in the middle of an epochal struggle over the direction of American economic policy.

The Democrats, who are currently in charge, want to follow a Keynesian model, which entails massive government spending — with its attendant tax increases and soaring deficit — to jump-start the economy.

The Republicans think the solution to our economic doldrums is to lower taxes and decrease spending, to stimulate business activity and help the nation climb out of its crippling debt.

    And then there’s Barack Obama….

You might think he would be the natural spokesman for the Democratic strategy. And when the cameras are turned on, he is. But under the surface he’s also an advocate for a third economic policy, one that isn’t spoken of in polite company: The Cloward-Piven Strategy.

Problem is, the Cloward-Piven Strategy is not simply some alternate theory about the best way to rescue the American economy. Quite the opposite, in fact. Its goal is to intentionally ruin the economy, so as to arouse popular outcry for a revolutionary and fundamental change in our economic system.

I propose that President Obama is simultaneously trying to rescue the economy using the Keynesian/Democratic model while at the same time also trying to destroy the economy through the Cloward-Piven Strategy. His two mutually contradictory plans cancel each other out, rendering all his efforts self-negating, and this explains why the American economy has stalled.

I dub this the Obama-Piven Strategy. And it’s the reason why we remain mired in a deep recession. We are neither recovering, as the Keynesian model predicts, nor is capitalism collapsing, as the revolutionaries hope; the Obama-Piven strategy ensures that we remain in suspended animation between the two extremes.

(No offense to Cloward, it’s just that the “Obama-Piven Strategy” rolls off the tongue more easily than the “Cloward-Obama Strategy.”)

    The Basics
The Cloward-Piven Strategy, for those of you unfamiliar with it, was named after its formulators, two Columbia University sociologists named Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. In an influential 1966 essay published in The Nation magazine, they outlined a strategy through which every American would receive a nationwide “guaranteed annual income.”

To bring this about, they essentially recommended that as many people as possible should be enrolled in government welfare programs so as to intentionally bankrupt the system; our elected officials would then feel politically compelled to create an overarching permanent drastic solution to the welfare problem, restructuring our free-market economy along socialistic lines — what the authors described as “the outright redistribution of income.”

Now, I’m not here to assess the wisdom or likelihood of the Cloward-Piven Strategy. I’m only pointing out that its intent, unlike those of traditional economic theories, is to wreak havoc on and eventually destroy the American economy, as part of a larger political goal. And that its proposed mechanism for destroying the economy is to maximize the number of people receiving government benefits.

    Handy Charts
The following four color-coded charts summarize the four economic theories competing for dominance in contemporary America.

We’ll start with the Republican Strategy, since for the purposes of this article it is (temporarily, at least) an outlier:
    The 2010 Republican Economic Strategy
    Reduce taxes and decrease spending
Goal: To improve the economy in the long run by stimulating business activity and lowering the deficit
Free market / small government fiscal theory

Note that this is actually the Tea Party strategy; it has only recently been adopted (in theory, at least) by the Republican Party, which formerly had not been very strict about minimizing the deficit.

    Next, the Democrats:
    The 2010 Democratic Economic Strategy
    Raise taxes and increase spending
Goal: To improve the economy in the short run by taking in higher revenue and distributing cash to stimulate consumption
    Keynesian economics

In a sane world, those would be the only two charts we’d need. But tucked away in our new president’s ideological baggage was yet a third strategy, which is not exactly equivalent to the other two:
    The 2010 Cloward-Piven Economic Strategy
Increase government programs, welfare demands, handouts and benefits to as many people as possible
Goal: To destroy the economy as a necessary precursor to a more drastic redistributionist/socialist makeover of society
Intentionally bankrupting the capitalist system to initiate revolutionary change

Now, if you were to combine the two strategies above, you’d get the actual current winner in the Battle of the Economic Theories, the self-defeating combo-strategy confusingly championed by the leader of our nation:
    The 2010 Obama-Piven Economic Strategy
Increase government programs, handouts, benefits, taxes and spending as rapidly and drastically as possible
Goal: To simultaneously destroy and improve the economy
A muddled combination of the Democratic Strategy and the Cloward-Piven Strategy

    A Generalized Term
As originally formulated in their Nation essay, Cloward’s and Piven’s recommendations were highly specific to the 1966 political climate. They discuss at length the alliances of the mid-’60s Democratic Party, and derive their theories from the assumption that welfare programs are operated mostly at the state and local level (as many were, in those days). Consequently, 21st-century progressives seeking to quash discussion of Cloward-Piven often dismiss it as anachronistic and not relevant to the modern world, and point to the theory’s now-outdated specifics as proof that it’s no longer worth getting worked up over.

But when we speak of “The Cloward-Piven Strategy” in 2010, we are speaking of the generalized form of the theory. This often happens with political ideas: They emerge in a highly specific historical context, but later become universalized. For example, “fascism” no longer refers in common parlance to a bunch of Italian nationalists running around in black shirts, but rather has been generalized over the decades to describe any totalitarian attitude. Even Marxism, in its original formulation, concerned itself with Industrial-Revolution-era class distinctions which by now no longer even exist, yet we can still speak of Marxism in the modern era because we are referring to the principles underlying Marxism, not the idiosyncratic details spelled out in the mid-19th century.

And so, in a similar vein, when I discuss the “Cloward-Piven Strategy” in this essay, I’m speaking of the generalized principle behind the strategy, rather than the era-specific details about “Dixiecrats” and “the ghetto vote” mentioned in the Nation article.

In modern terms, the “Cloward-Piven Strategy” refers to the goal of bringing about a stealth economic revolution by intentionally overburdening the capitalist system with welfare demands until the economy collapses, necessitating a fundamental social restructuring.

    Feature or Bug?
There is a stubborn whisper among the crowds at Tea Parties: that the ruinous “side-effects” of Obama’s economic measures and social programs are a feature, not a bug. In other words, despite a fawning media which strives to portray Obama as having only the best of intentions, many Americans suspect that Obama isn’t trying to rescue the economy at all, but instead is purposely trying to ruin America’s fiscal health not just currently but also for generations into the future. And that the ultimate purpose of this seemingly irrational agenda is to end capitalism as we know it and usher in a socialist economic system.

The Cloward-Piven Strategy is fairly well-known among the Tea Party cognoscenti and pro-capitalism pundits, but it remains obscure to the general populace. And while certain elements of the old-school far left openly embrace the notion behind the Cloward-Piven Strategy, many left-wing commentators heap scorn and mockery on any conservative who dares to mention it — and the very same progressives who struggle fiercely to enact the Cloward-Piven Strategy will simultaneously deride the “conspiracy thinking” of Republicans who point out the true goal of the progressive agenda.

Cloward-Piven: Playing by the Rules to Break the System
The federal government has all sorts of laws and regulations on the books that are not actively enforced — the most famous among these being laws against foreign citizens entering and remaining in the country illegally, which the federal authorities under Obama not only ignore but even vigorously oppose when any state (such as Arizona) attempts to enforce the feds’ own statutes.

Similarly, over the decades there have accumulated dozens of federal and state welfare programs, benefits, handouts, class-action suits, unending “emergency” loans and bailouts, scholarships and guarantees which have never been fully exploited by the eligible recipients. On this point, Cloward and Piven were entirely correct. They showed in their paper how the number of people eligible for welfare benefits far exceeded the number of people actually receiving them. For whatever reason — pride, ignorance, self-reliance, you-name-it — a significant number of people do not sign up for government handouts potentially due them. One can see a prototypical example of this happening on a micro-scale in San Francisco, when city-sponsored activists occasionally fan out on the streets to offer S.F.’s legions of homeless people free housing, food, job training and more — all just for the asking. The response? Often as not, the long-term homeless will turn down the offers, saying they would prefer to sleep in the park than in a shelter, would prefer to eat foraged food than at a soup kitchen, would prefer to remain defiantly self-reliant bums than become comfortable vassals of the welfare system.

Such an attitude is mystifying and infuriating to activists like Cloward and Piven, who see the poor as shock troops whose very poverty can be leveraged to topple the entire capitalist system. To discourage any sparks of self-reliance or proud independence amongst the poor, the left invented a profession called “community organizer,” whose very purpose is get the underclass addicted to government handouts — an essential component needed for the Cloward-Piven Strategy to work. What did you think “community organizers” do when they organize communities? Ever seen ACORN at work? “Community organizing” groups such as ACORN are in fact the physical embodiment of the Cloward-Piven Strategy. They exist to encourage as many people as possible to sign up for all the benefits, welfare programs and handouts for which they could conceivably be eligible (and, as various investigations have revealed, many benefits for which they aren’t).

Is it therefore any surprise that Barack Obama described himself as a community organizer and once worked with ACORN? With that sort of track record — not to mention that he also went to school at Columbia, where both Cloward and Piven taught and where their strategy was born, and that he himself said he hung out with “Marxist professors” in college — there’s no question that Obama must be intimately familiar with the Cloward-Piven Strategy and the principles behind it.

    A Fiscal Pushmi-Pullyu
Remember, I'm not claiming that Obama is waging all-out war on our economy, purposely trying to undermine it. The paradox of the Obama-Piven Strategy is that it goes in both directions simultaneously, like a fiscal Pushmi-Pullyu (that two-headed creature in Dr. Dolittle). On one hand, Obama is a radicalized community organizer trying to bring down the capitalist system with an endless parade of demands and handouts. But on the other hand, he’s a mainstream Democrat cooperating with and promoting a widely respected economic theory — big-government Keynesianism — to save the capitalist system. Which is it, Mr. President? Are you with us, or against us? It seems, amazingly, that the answer is both: half the time he’s working to salvage the economy, and the other half he’s purposely trying to savage it.

How could this be? A growing number of Americans suspect that he’s not really conflicted at all, that he merely pretends to be a mainstream liberal trying in his clumsy way to rescue the economy, as a façade — but that his real sympathies lie with the far-far-left radicals who want to use Cloward-Piven to destroy capitalism now and forever.

Me, I have a different explanation. I think it’s unconscious. I think Obama is on auto-pilot and never really sat down and pondered the distinction between trying, on one hand, to save the economy with government spending and, on the other hand, to ruin the economy with…government spending. It all blurs together after a while, doesn’t it?

    Keynes-Piven?
That’s because there is a bit of Cloward-Piven inherent in Keynesian theory itself. When Nancy Pelosi in all seriousness announces (as she did) that indefinitely extended unemployment benefits are a great way to stimulate the economy, then we’ve seemingly crossed the frontier into Cloud-Cuckoo-Land. Or have we? The original goal of Cloward-Piven, after all, was to bring about a “guaranteed annual income” for all Americans, and wouldn’t the arrival of permanent unemployment benefits for everyone essentially bring us to the same station, albeit by a different track?

Cloward-Piven’s idea rested on the old Marxist notion that in order to have a revolutionary change in the economic order, you first need to precipitate a major social or bureaucratic crisis which the populace will then demand be solved by junking the old system in toto and ushering in an entirely new structure. But the modern Democrat version of progressive economics seems to dispense with the need for a revolution altogether: Once you’re in power, with a cooperative media, you can simply declare that you already have the overwhelming popular mandate needed to bring about by legislative fiat the universal income distribution that those naive old Marxists thought could only be achieved by actual popular demand. Why waste time with a messy and unnecessary revolution when you can attain the same thing incrementally? If you control all branches of government and the media, who’s to stop you or argue?

Well, Tea Party activists and 40 filibustering Republican senators, that’s who. The Pelosi/Reid Incremental Cloward-Pivenistas marched up and down the field practically unopposed for over a year and were on the verge of sealing a permanent legislative victory when the fiscal conservatives suddenly began putting up a stubborn goal-line stand. A palpable sea-change in the electorate’s mood gave the Republicans the courage to become “The Party of No,” since it became self-evident in 2010 that a majority of Americans wanted someone to stop the Democratic plan of revolutionizing America without actually having a revolution.

Cloward and Piven stated that in order to usher in a socialistic system, we first must intentionally ruin the capitalist economy. Pelosi and Harry Reid are trying to achieve the same end goal but do so while capitalism is still healthy enough to fend for itself. Perhaps after all it is Pelosi and Reid and the Democrats who are naive: What 2010 has shown us is that Americans will not consent to smiley-face socialism. Maybe those old Marxists were right — you do need to have a total social and economic meltdown as a necessary precursor for revolution. And it hasn’t happened here yet.

You’ve Had Your Fun, Mr. President
Which half of our Jekyll-and-Hyde president will emerge dominant? Will he abandon his youthful dreams of a revolutionized America and age gracefully into a standard run-of-the-mill Keynesian liberal? Or will he drop the mask and go the full Cloward-Piven on us?

I say let’s take the choice out of his hands. If enough small-government fiscal conservatives win office this November, it won’t matter which side of his schizoid economic policy the president chooses. Instead, the Obama-Piven Strategy will mercifully be forever consigned to the dustbin of history.

If, as the author states, Obama is doing both we'll simply be seeing the same end result as the Cloward-Piven Strategy. Keynes doesn't work.

I posit that Obama has added Keynes to the mix not because he is trying to rescue the country but because he is putting forth the option most palatable to the public that will help take down our economy and usher in what he and is comrades want. If Obama used only C-P it would be too alarming to many middle of the roaders. Mixing Keynes in there is meant to help camouflage it.

Cloward and piven plan for America & Glenn Beck’s Comment

    Cloward and piven plan
, a Cloward-Piven political strategy is delineated by Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. Then, both social scientists and policy makers at the Columbia University School of Social Work, in a 1966 article in The Nation entitled “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty“. Cloward and piven both quarreled that many Americans who were qualified for welfare were not getting benefits, and that a welfare enrollment drive would make a political crisis. The topic on Cloward and Piven plan system was covered by Glenn Beck, an American conservative radio and television host on his FOX News show.

The strategy of Cloward-Piven plan seeks to hurry the fall of capitalism by overloading the government officialdom with a flood of impossible demands. Thus, it pushes the society into crisis and economic collapse. The strategy was proposed as a plan to bankrupt the welfare system and create radical change. The Cloward-Piven approach called for miring the welfare rolls with new applicants, more than the system could bear and so resulting economic collapse would bring about political turmoil.

The Cloward-Piven strategy was put to work in streets by the National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO), founded by African-American militant George Alvin Wiley. Its activities led directly to the well-being crisis that ruined New York City in 1975. A professor of social work, Richard A. Cloward died in 2001. His co-author, Frances Fox Piven was a research associate at Columbia’s School of Social Work. Now, she holds a Distinguished Professorship of Political Science and Sociology at the City University of New York.

A national Democratic administration would be forced to advance a federal solution to poverty to prevent a further weakening of that historic coalition that would override local welfare failures, local class and racial conflicts and local revenue dilemmas. They wrote, “The ultimate objective of this strategy is to annihilate poverty by establishing a guaranteed annual income, will be questioned by some. Because the ideal of individual social and economic mobility has deep roots, even activists seem reluctant to call for national programs to eliminate poverty by the outright redistribution of income.”

Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven as Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one. They outlined a plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government. They have no responsibility to pay for it. Obama doesn’t care that providing free health care to 30 million Americans will add trillions to the national debt. What he does care about is that it cements the reliance of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government.

Default Re: The Cloward-Piven And Now Obama Strategy

The Enemy Abroad and The Enemy Within, Same Result

    by JR Dieckmann

Where is our military when we need them? They are on the other side of the planet trying to win the hearts and minds of a people who hate us, and engaged in a nation building effort to change an Islamic state into a democracy.

    Good luck!

Our fighting men and women are the best skilled, best trained, best equipped army in the world. They have been trained to fight and win wars, but their commander is forcing them to be diplomats instead with one hand tied behind their back and the other hand holding an unloaded rifle.

Can't anyone see that as soon as our troops leave the region, the Muslims in Afghanistan are going to go right back to being who they are - whom they have been for 1400 years - and doing the same things they did before we got there? You can stretch and hold a rubber band for a while, but when you let go, it’s going to spring back to its natural shape.

The western world is the enemy of Islam, always has been and always will be. It is written in their laws and in their religion. Instead of chasing bin Laden and the Taliban all over God's green Earth for the past 9 years, we should have answered their attack on New York with a nuclear response on Kabul and put a stop to their jihad immediately.

Any al Qaeda and Taliban still left would be too busy cleaning up the mess, and too frightened even to consider another attack on the west.

This will never change until Islam is totally defeated.

Meanwhile at home, our country is being attacked and destroyed by these same Islamists and communist progressives who have usurped the White House, taken over the Congress, burned our flag and used our Constitution as a torch to ignite it. It is the same Constitution that our military is sworn to protect and defend, and the same Constitution that Obama and the American Left points at to defend Islam’s right to build a mosque at the site of their historic attack on the United States of America.

The Progressives insist that Islam's right to build their Mosque just 600 feet from the wreckage of the World Trade Center is protected by the freedom of religion clause in the 1st Amendment of the Constitution, while at the same time trying to relegate that Constitution to the tissue holders in the Capitol restrooms. The Left finds the Constitution useful only when they can point to something in it that helps to support their anti-American agenda.

So now Islam intends to build a mosque on the site of a building that was wrecked by the landing gear from one of the planes they crashed into the World Trade Center. That building would still be The Burlington Coat Factory if the Muslims hadn't destroyed it. And now they want to take the property they destroyed for a Mosque? Where is the tolerance on the part of Muslims? There is none. They would rather insult Americans with a Mosque, than show respect for the site and those who died on 9-11, by choosing another location for their unnecessary Mosque.

It is not a place of religious worship - it is a reminder to New Yorkers and a monument to their filthy sneak attack on Manhattan. They know it, and we know it. The issue has nothing to do with First Amendment rights, it has to do with common human decency and respect for our country and those who died at the site of the World Trade Center. This is a clear example of the in-your-face disrespect and hatred Islam has for America.

Islam is not a religion; it simply masquerades as one. Muslim worship is only a part of Islam. Most of Islam consists of political, legal, punishment, and social structure - dictated by one man 1400 years ago.

Islam is not a religion; it is a theocratic government. Muslims are welcome to believe and worship as they please in America under the 1st Amendment, but Shariah law and the rest of the Islamic dictates found in the Qur'an must not be tolerated. Shariah violates our laws and Islam goes against everything we stand for - it is incompatible with life in America. Unfortunately, our current pseudo-president sees it differently.

At least he is keeping one promise - the one he made in Egypt to Islam.

We need our armies to come home and do the job they swore to do. We need them now more than ever here at home to save our country from the most dangerous enemy we have ever faced, the one that is sworn to destroy America from within. The enemy that has seized power in our government, betrayed the American people, welcomed foreign invaders, and committed unconstitutional acts of treason against our flag. For what they are doing to our country, these traitors to the American people must be removed from office and imprisoned for the rest of their lives.

This enemy has its own armies well positioned throughout the country; in governments; in the courts; in the media; in the schools and in the streets. They go by names like ACORN, SEIU, Tides Foundation, Apollo Alliance, SDS, AFL-CIO, Organizing for America, Center for American Progress, ACLU, AmeriCorp, CAIR, and many others. They all have the common goal of destroying America and everything she stands for.

If you have been following Glenn Beck then you know that the 60s radicals at one point concluded that to succeed, they must “give up the radical pose for the radical end.” They cleaned themselves up, put away the swastikas and the violent rhetoric, put on suits and moved themselves into influential positions in society. They pretend to be responsible citizens while still working behind the scenes for the overthrow of capitalism.

One of the means to that end is known as the “Cloward-Piven Strategy” of spending us into oblivion with excessive government programs and regulations, and unsustainable debt. Eventually the system will collapse under its own weight and then a socialist system can be installed. Any excuse to spend the taxpayers’ money is enough to justify the passing of more convoluted legislation to authorize the funds, even when they are not needed.

These same dishonest practices are found at all levels of government. How many times has your local or state government told you they are going to have to lay off police, teachers and firefighters, or raise your taxes to pay for them? Furthermore, what part have unions played in bankrupting society beyond just driving manufacturing out of the country with their excessive benefits and demands? Here is what an outraged Glenn Beck has to say about that.

As you may know, the Jobs Bill was passed the House on Tuesday in a special session to put another $26 billion into the coffers of Democrat candidates running for reelection. Just wait for the announcement from the White House and its crony candidates about how many jobs the Jobs Bill has “saved or created.” But they won’t tell you where the $421 billion still left from the stimulus fund is going. I wonder why? I would bet that half of it will be gone by November elections and the rest gone by 2012 elections. Then we will all find ourselves asking: Where did the Democrats get all that money for their campaigns?

We can only do just so much with our votes, which are cancelled out all too often by voter fraud and activist progressive judges. This is a growing problem that is only going to get worse the longer it goes on. The plan is to make conservative voters irrelevant and no longer a threat to progressivism.

They will not be able to accomplish it before the November 2010 election; their target will be before the 2012 election. They will lie, cheat, steal, and use the courts to get what they want. If they succeed, we will no longer be living in a free America but will be under a communist-progressive dictatorship. We have already seen the takeover, the money grabs, and the excessive regulations on private enterprise that are killing our country. This is only a fraction of what they have planned if they are not stopped now.

This is a major turning point in American history. We will have one more chance to try to correct this problem in November and hope that a Republican Congress will aggressively begin and complete the process of repealing or defunding the laws passed by the 111th Congress. Then they must begin the process of restoring constitutional conservatism to Washington and put aside their personal special interests. Every person serving in Washington must ask him or her self, which is more important, saving the country or saving his or her career. Congressional term limits (12 years) would render this question unnecessary.

If the Progressives cannot be defeated at the ballot box, then as the last resort, it is going to be up to the military to reject the command authority of the usurper Obama and take back Washington for the people whom they serve. Military leaders must understand what is going on in Washington and respect their oath and loyalty - which is to the Constitution, not to that man in the White House or Washington bureaucrats. Which will it be, a military coup on Washington, or civil war throughout the country? This can only end in one or the other because the American people will not stand for their freedom being stolen from them. The human desire for freedom is why this country was founded on a Constitution that guarantees it.

Military leaders are going to have to take a stand and commit themselves to doing what is right and what must be done to save the country they are sworn to defend. They must realize that not only is their commander incompetent in military matters, but also is committing treason against this country. He must be arrested and removed from office, and with him, all those whom he has appointed to help him carry out is acts of treason. That also includes the evil one who orchestrated and has been financing and directing this stealthy insurrection - the international criminal, George Soros.

Our parent generations fought and died, worked and sacrificed, so that their children could have a better life in a free America. We respect them for it. Too many of their children grew up with a sense of entitlement and think everyone should feel the same. It is their ambition to entitle everyone to dependence on the government. But remember, what the government gives, the government can take away and regulate to force compliance with their wishes. That is what government healthcare is all about.

But what legacy are they leaving for their children? Several generations of young Americans will be saddled with backbreaking debt and enslavement to government bureaucrats, programs, and policies. Don’t heat your house too much; don’t use fossil fuels; cut your electricity use; don’t use too much water; don’t expect healthcare when you need it; here is what you can eat; watch what you say, it might offend someone; don’t watch Fox News or listen to talk radio; don't say the name of God; no Christian symbolism; we are going to be monitoring what you post on the internet. We are here to make decisions for you, take care of you and all of your needs. That is not freedom, it is communism.

Whether it will be Islam or Progressives, the end result will be the same: servitude for the American citizens whom will no longer be citizens, but rather subjects. This is the liberal utopia that Democrats (and a few Republicans) are creating for generations to come. It offers you a small portion of everything except your freedom. That is the price we will all pay in the end. That is why the November elections are so important. Either we take back our country at the ballot box or we prepare for war. Every person in the country who considers themself conservative, or just a loyal American, must get to the pols and vote.

    Agreed.

Good thinking - I never thought of that.

Having sat through the last 20 years of college listening to this claptrap (Socialism vs Capitalism vs Keynesian theory vs communism....) I'm proud to know I live in a CAPITALIST COUNTRY.

Regardless of what everyone else seems to be accepting of.

Even my own friends I mentioned in another space and time recently made me pity them with their naivete over the economic system.

It's so sad that droves WILL NOT sign up to the welfare system regardless of their reasoning and it pisses off everyone on the Left because it. I'm HAPPY to piss off the left any time I can.

Beware of Obama’s Scorched Earth Politics

    By John Galt
    September 26, 2010

Tonight’s headline that just streamed across my screen spoke volumes about the path we are on:

China Imposes a Steep Tariff on U.S. Poultry

This story linked above from the Sunday September 26th New York Times might seem like nothing to most as the tit-for-tat the U.S. has been engaged in with China has been ongoing for a year now, be it specialized paper imports, steel pipe, tires, or now poultry tariffs between the U.S. and China has been played up to be something parallel to the disaster which was Smoot-Hawley in the 1930′s.

    Troubling?

    Yes.

    Dangerous?

    Very.

    Alarming?

Not quite yet but after the election it could be an indication of the political game and the final implementation of the Cloward-Piven strategy to finally flip our nation from its current stalemate into a total and complete downward spiral of an anarchy inspired economic disaster.

This shall first be done by selecting to vilify a nation which is already the bane of the Western world due to its economic policies, human rights abuses, and the ecological disaster they call their countryside.

All of that without even mentioning the Communist Chinese military efforts to flip forty years of defensive posturing to an accelerated move to become an offensive international expansive force to be reckoned with over the next decade.

The problem is assuming that this is a trade disaster in the making, especially based on the story about the U.S. House about to pass a currency measure against China in retaliation for their weak Yuan policy (See Bloomberg’s story – China Currency Measure Set for Vote in U.S. House September 25, 2010).

This foolish presumption will make the mainstream media look even more irrelevant than usual and the alleged right-wing talk radio cabal who buys the party line look patently absurd.

Sadly of all the major national talk show hosts (other than yours truly), only Glenn Beck has some grasp as to what this action may indeed mean for our future. To find out what this future entails, you need to review some history, not from the 1960′s with Cloward and Piven, but from the 1940′s during World War II.

When the Russians and Germans took turns engaging in the policy known as “scorched earth” while enduring a defeat and retreat.

The administration we have running our nation now has been engaged in this policy since the day President Obama was sworn into office. If you analyze the moves be they a diplomatic row from insulting our British friends with petty gifts and actions, to the open armed embraces of Marxist regimes in other lands, and finally the destructive domestic agenda which will accelerate the expansion of entitlement programs to the point of requiring a massive hyperinflation to fund them, it becomes obvious to anyone but a blind ignorant fool that the goal of this regime was to destroy the remnants of American society as known by every generation where the median age is forty or older.

This “scorched earth” approach is subtle to the naked eye as it has been couched in flowery proclamations such as health care for all while at the same time instituting domestic and foreign capital controls as a side show and other such embedded land mines waiting to explode in the face of American business and taxpayers.

Yet this is not the worst problem we shall face in our future.

The Republican Party, as usual, overplayed their hand with a new program I like to nickname the “Sort of Kind of Little Bit Conservative, Mostly Same Old Same Old Way of Doing Things with America plus Marshmallows and Little Debbies” deal that John “I Love Contributions from TARP’ed Companies” Boehner (R-OH) offered and promoted again on talking head television today.

The problem is that even if they win every race they are projected to at this very moment, they can claim, as they did under Bill Clinton during the “Contract with America” promotion, that they did all they can but because they did not control the White House all they could do was “show the flag” and offer up an effort for their agenda. Thus they have the ready made excuse for a plausible denial when nothing is accomplished. Again.

Reality is a very dank, dark, and dangerous thing though as the calender moves forward.

The Democrats did not fall off of the Stephen Colbert illegal immigrant loaded turnip truck yesterday. There is a sanity to their madness and Glenn Beck among a few others correctly identified it as the Cloward and Piven strategy.

A Republican victory will give them the time, excuse, cover, and impetus to complete the program they began. The day after the November elections are over, look for the Democrats to ram through Cap and Trade in various forms in a piecemeal basis, various actions against Communist China, union card check legislation, new industrial ergonomic and energy usage regulatory frameworks, and of course, reinforced regulatory authority plus expansion of powers for institutions like the Federal Reserve, FCC, and USDA (and many more) to expand their reach into our daily lives along with control of the business sector.

The process will be so overwhelming and extensive that if the Republicans held veto-proof majorities in both houses plus the Presidency it will take a decade to repeal the acts because of the intricacies they will embed in the legislation.

And that doesn’t even touch what the C.F.R. expansion being implemented by Cass Sunstein looks like at this very moment where I would expect the entire Federal Registry to double in size in the six week period from after the election to Christmas Eve.

The Democrats have planned for this contingency all along.

The Republicans will be forced to vote, or at least say they were, for some of these acts as most of this will be attached to spending resolutions designed to keep the government functioning and the wars funded until next year.

The remainder will be shoved into place via a simple majority and hastily implemented with a massive expansion of the size of the bureaucracy along with extensive regulatory creation under the direction of the President and his minions.

The result will be a paralysis of the House and Senate, presuming they are under Republican control, as they spend the next two years on investigations, hearings, and attempts to reverse the deluge which will occur. At the same time the rapidly deteriorating economy will be pegged to their election and inaction by the end of this November and the American people are gullible enough to buy this theory, especially when we hit new recessionary periods starting in early 2011 that throw upwards of two million more citizens into the roles of the unemployed.

Thus even if Constitutional conservatives win the election of 2010, they will lose because they are not playing the same game. While Boehner and others crow about their new SpongeBob Square Pants Commitment to America or whatever warm fuzzy name you wish to assign it, the reality is that it equates to Tic-Tac-Toe while the Democrats and President’s staff are playing one more round of Star Trek based 3 dimensional chess.

Unfortunately for the American people there is no winner as the ideologies of Marx and/or statism are now warmly embraced by most of the political class concerned, all in the name of preserving their power and the status quo.

Democrats, Socialists and Communists…We Are All Together’: Piven Draws Chilling Connections

Renown Leftist Activist: Frances Fox Piven.

    According to Frances Fox Piven:

    • The Occupy Movement is made up of “All parts of the Left.”
    • That includes proudly: “Democrats, Socialists, Communists, Anarchists.”
    • Must all work together because of the “Huge task of transforming America and the world.”
    • “We are all together”

At last weekend’s Left Forum 2012, the annual pep-rally for liberal thought, renown leftist professor and activist Frances Fox Piven shown some light onto the makeup of the current America Left. In this minute of audio, Piven tells the packed auditorium which worldview philosophies embody their movement:

“There is room for all of us. Religious leftists, people who think peace is the answer, those who think that wholesome food is what we really need, ecologists and old-fashioned Democrats, Democratic Socialists, Socialists and Communists.”

Piven goes on to discuss the major undertaking that the leftist movement is working on and why these ideologies must unite:

“We can work together because we have a really huge task before us, transforming America and the World.”

Both statements were met with applause and agreement from the audience of over one thousand.

The genesis of the Occupy movement was a theme that gripped the Forum this year. The evicted movement has made some dark predictions over their plans for this spring. However, Piven’s comments were just one of many revealing facts about the movement to come.

    Stay tuned.

Fox Piven’s Chilling Future Predictions: Calls for ‘Massive Union Strikes’ in order to ‘Force Government to Restore Taxation on the Rich’

According to Frances Fox Piven’s predictions last September:

Professor Piven Predictions: Half true...for now.

    • The government would begin to “force” higher taxation on the rich
    • The government will “force” strict regulation on finance
    • Workers will unite to make “New Deal” style “strikes.”
    • The strikes should be “massive” and involve millions of non-Union workers.
    • Unions should lead these strikes, because they have overcome “racism & sexism.”

In a first-time address to the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union, radical professor Frances Fox Piven made some startling, yet predictable calls for unions to engage in social unrest. In light of the Occupy movement and legislation such as the Buffett Rule, this might seem to be old news. However, the speech was given last September, before any of these radical social ideas collided with the mainstream.

What’s left is an apt prediction for things that did happen (demonetization of the rich, violent class warfare) and a dark foreshadowing of what the future may hold (crippling strikes, a workers revolution).

The controversial NYU professor began by pinning down Voter ID laws as discriminatory.

“Thirty state legislators – legislatures – the states that were lost in the election of 2010 are now considering legislation to make it harder to vote for poorer people, for younger people, for minority people. They want to require photo ID cards for registration, voter registration, for actually casting the vote.”

The Occupy enthusiast continued by demanding that unions begin to “force” governments into an arch-progressive agenda.

“Poverty is really expanding very, very rapidly and unions, union membership, and treasuries continue to decline. So the question that confronts us, everyone in this room – me too, I’m a union member – is how to halt and reverse this assault. How to force government to become a job creating engine, how to force government to restore taxation on the rich – they should pay their share – how to force government to invest in infrastructure, how force government to re-regulate finance, and how to restore the slices that have been taken from the social programs.”

She then began a plea for unions to rise up and demand a new social revolution, a la FDR’s New Deal.

“I think there are lessons for us from the past. There are lessons from the 1930s when a really disheartened

A violent 1930's Union Strike in New York

nation, suffering from massive unemployment – many people actually starving – when that nation was galvanized by the mobilization of workers in the ‘Great Strike’ movements of 1934, ‘35, ‘36, ‘37. That strike movement forced FDR to do much more than he would have done just because he was a wealthy patriarch who cared about the poor. It was the strike movement that created the New Deal and the programs that we so value from the New Deal. The 1960‘s and ’70′s saw other new movements. And those movements, they were in the street, they were in the schools, and they were in the factories.”

She continued by lamenting the immense control Conservatives and free marketers have on the media.

“[Conservatives have] a propaganda machine which makes it possible for them to yell loudly from every media outlet, because they really do have a huge influence on the media. Every time a jobs program is proposed – they will do this to Obama’s job program if they can – they will yell, ‘Job killer!’ because it means spending money, raising taxes.”

Piven digressed into action calls for unions and non-unions alike to engage in massive strikes.

“But I think unions should be in the lead. Now, you know, I’m not young and naive. I know that it’s hard for unions, for example, to engage in massive strikes. There have been some, I think you probably all read about the Longshoreman’s strike a week or two weeks ago in Longview on the west coast.”

The professor of political science and sociology applauded unions for getting over their racist and sexist roots, an example she used to defend her theory on Union superiority.

“[Unions have] overcome, not entirely, their antipathy to women and women workers, for example. I see some women. They’ve overcome, not entirely, but a lot of their racism, a lot of their ethnic prejudices. They understand the importance of youth. We, the union movement, has quietly and steadily made progress.”

Finally, Piven declared America as a dangerous oligarchy and the Unions as the only hope to save our country from its imminent demise.

“Because you have a union, or you have many unions, federated into an international union. And you represent what is the biggest, richest, strongest organization that can stand in opposition to the reckless oligarchy that has overtaken American life. You can lead and support a greater movement that includes the tens of millions of working people that are not unionized. I think the future depends on you.”

    Watch the chilling predictions below:

    Cloward-Piven Everywhere

    And barely time to think.

The Obama administration-driven calamity at this nation’s southern border is no naiveté-caused accident. Instead, it’s the latest manifestation of what clear-eyed observers must recognize is just one of many concerted attempts to overwhelm this nation’s institutions and its social, psychological and physical infrastructure for the apparent purpose of leaving it permanently weakened and fundamentally changed.

Conscious or not — and I would argue in most cases that it is quite conscious — what we’re seeing is a comprehensive application of the left’s long-championed Cloward-Piven strategy.
The folklore behind the strategy claims that its enunciation by Richard A. Cloward and Frances Fox Piven “only” involved collapsing the welfare system to create a political climate receptive to the idea of a “guaranteed annual income,” and — presto! — “an end to poverty.”
The idea advanced in the couple’s May 1966 column in The Nation was to have those whom they saw as naively self-reliant recognize that they were legally entitled to receive benefits and to have them apply for public assistance en masse. This would “produce bureaucratic disruption in welfare agencies and fiscal disruption in local and state governments,” thus requiring a federal solution which would, in their fevered minds, “eliminate poverty by the outright redistribution of income.”
The folklore also contends that the strategy didn’t work. That’s not really true. It really did collapse the system in one city, and it permanently changed national attitudes towards public assistance. As James Simpson observed at American Thinker in September 2008 (still-working links are in the original):
Capitalizing on the racial unrest of the 1960s, Cloward and Piven saw the welfare system as their first target.
… According to a City Journal article by Sol Stern, welfare rolls increased from 4.3 million to 10.8 million by the mid-1970s as a result, and in New York City, where the strategy had been particularly successful, “one person was on the welfare rolls … for every two working in the city’s private economy.”
… The vast expansion of welfare in New York City that came of … Cloward-Piven tactics sent the city into bankruptcy in 1975. Rudy Giuliani cited Cloward and Piven by name as being responsible for “an effort at economic sabotage.” He also credited Cloward-Piven with changing the cultural attitude toward welfare from that of a temporary expedient to a lifetime entitlement, an attitude which in-and-of-itself has caused perhaps the greatest damage of all.
That damage includes welfare-driven family breakups and sky-high out-of-wedlock birth rates.
Cloward and Piven targeted other applications from the very beginning. The authors telegraphed their broader intent in that infamous 1966 column (italics are theirs):
We tend to overlook the force of crisis in precipitating legislative reform, partly because we lack a theoretical framework by which to understand the impact of major disruptions.
By crisis, we mean a publicly visible disruption in some institutional sphere. Crisis can occur spontaneously (e.g., riots) or as the intended result of tactics of demonstration and protest which either generate institutional disruption or bring unrecognized disruption to public attention. Public trouble is a political liability, it calls for action by political leaders to stabilize the situation. Because crisis usually creates or exposes conflict, it threatens to produce cleavages in a political consensus which politicians will ordinarily act to avert.
Former Obama adviser and now Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s oft-cited statement that “you never let a serious crisis go to waste” is in no way an original thought.
The left has long since figured out that focusing Cloward-Piven on only one aspect of society at a time is nowhere near as effective as applying it on multiple fronts over time. The strategy’s specific applications arguably include at least the following:

    • The 2008 financial meltdown. The run-up to the 2008 financial meltdown and the accompanying recession was driven by the Community Reinvestment Act, which was eventually toughened to the point of effectively compelling banks to make trillions of dollars in mortgage loans to objectively unqualified buyers. “Government-sponsored enterprises” Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made the problem exponentially worse by systematically deceiving the securities markets and their shareholders about the underlying quality of loans they purchased from mortgage lenders. As a result, we now have Dodd-Frank, the completely unaccountable Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a mortgage lending market where even the simplest transaction takes several months to complete, and a homebuilding industry seemingly destined to indefinitely remain a shadow of its former self.
    • Record deficits and national debt buildup. Despite the stock market arguing to the contrary, the roughly $6 trillion in deficits deliberately rung up during Obama’s presidency, along with a nearly $7 trillion increase in the national debt, have the financial system again on the verge of implosion. Will the Federal Reserve really ever be able to liquidate its over $4 trillion in holdings of government and mortgage securities without causing the economy to grind to a halt?
    • Social Security and Medicare. Despite changing demographics, these programs have barely been touched since their inception. Their status quo is indisputably unsustainable in the long run. Leftist opposition to any change whatsoever to either is best seen as a slow-motion Cloward-Piven effort to guarantee their failure.
    • Obamacare. The Affordable Care Act’s hopelessly incompetent rollout, ongoing management nightmares and constantly changing arbitrary rules appear to have been concocted to impose utter chaos on the health care system and ultimately to bring about a single-payer, i.e., government-run, system. If that’s really so, early returns indicate that it’s working, as the statist regime’s drag on the economy — and not this winter’s miserable weather — was a primary cause of the economy’s recently estimated 2 percent annualized first-quarter contraction.
    • The IRS scandal. Cloward-Piven is now being used by those in power to destroy the opposition. The IRS scandal is best understood as a scheme to bulldoze opponents with time-consuming, burdensome bureaucratic barriers and harassment at the hands of an agency with apparently unlimited resources — at least for this priority.
    • Regulation. Along those same lines, in recent years the federal government’s regulatory apparatus, whose employees were originally more interested in job preservation, now appear to have taken to rolling over their targets with costly, voluminous and virtually indecipherable rules restrictions, harassing litigation, and aggressive demonization. Post-recession start-up activity and new employment arising from those efforts are both at record lows. Who wants to get big enough to get noticed by the administration’s regulatory thugs?
    • Scandal exhaustion. The sheer volume of serious Obama administration scandals seems to comprise a Cloward-Piven attempt to overwhelm opponents. With so many scandals out there, no single outrage can generate concerted, sufficiently visible opposition. Those who contend that this situation is not deliberate apparently expect us to believe that the original volunteered appearances on the same day in May 2013 of the IRS scandal and the Department of Justice’s admission that it monitored phone records at the Associated Press represented some kind of odd coincidence.

Not every Cloward-Piven attempt has been successful. In retrospect, the late-1990s Internet bubble, largely caused by a deliberately asleep at the switch Securities and Exchange Commission which allowed scores of companies with no history and no chance of success to go public, may have been designed to bring about a financial crisis. The trouble with that strategy is that “the wrong guy” won the 2000 election. Even so, that debacle helped give us the economy-stifling mountain of busywork known as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
For all practical purposes, Cloward-Piven is now a staple of leftist electoral campaign strategy. As one commenter recently noted (I unfortunately lost track of where it originated), the Obama reelection campaign’s 2012 strategy “wasn’t just to publish propaganda, but to publish (and) distribute propaganda in such magnitudes that that folks didn’t even have to think about it, they would just foam at the mouth at the mere mention of (Mitt) Romney’s name.”
As to the recent wave of “Unaccompanied Alien Children” — that’s the Department of Homeland Security’s term, not mine — make no mistake. President Barack Obama and his advisers had to know that hordes of unaccompanied children would be sent to cross our southern border when he unilaterally imposed “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” in June of 2012. Despite seeing its results, Homeland Security renewed DACA for two more years earlier this month. The default assumption simply must be that “Obama is using these children as pawns to implement his goal of universal citizenship for illegal immigrants.”
In other words, it’s Cloward-Piven, yet again.

    The Cloward-Piven Strategy
    By Richard Poe
    DiscoverTheNetworks.org
    2005

First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the Cloward-Piven Strategy
seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Inspired by the August 1965 riots in the black district of Watts in Los Angeles (which erupted after police had used batons to subdue an African American man suspected of drunk driving), Cloward and Piven published an article titled "The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty" in the May 2, 1966 issue of The Nation. Following its publication, The Nation sold an unprecedented 30,000 reprints. Activists were abuzz over the so-called "crisis strategy" or "Cloward-Piven Strategy," as it came to be called. Many were eager to put it into effect.

In their 1966 article, Cloward and Piven charged that the ruling classes used welfare to weaken the poor; that by providing a social safety net, the rich doused the fires of rebellion. Poor people can advance only when "the rest of society is afraid of them," Cloward told The New York Times on September 27, 1970. Rather than placating the poor with government hand-outs, wrote Cloward and Piven, activists should work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system; the collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis that would rock the nation; poor people would rise in revolt; only then would "the rest of society" accept their demands.

The key to sparking this rebellion would be to expose the inadequacy of the welfare state.
Cloward-Piven's early promoters cited radical organizer Saul Alinsky as their inspiration. "Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules," Alinsky wrote in his 1971 book Rules for Radicals. When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system's failure to "live up" to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist "rule book" with a socialist one.

The authors noted that the number of Americans subsisting on welfare -- about 8 million, at the time -- probably represented less than half the number who were technically eligible for full benefits. They proposed a "massive drive to recruit the poor onto the welfare rolls." Cloward and Piven calculated that persuading even a fraction of potential welfare recipients to demand their entitlements would bankrupt the system. The result, they predicted, would be "a profound financial and political crisis" that would unleash "powerful forces for major economic reform at the national level."

Their article called for "cadres of aggressive organizers" to use "demonstrations to create a climate of militancy." Intimidated by threats of black violence, politicians would appeal to the federal government for help. Carefully orchestrated media campaigns, carried out by friendly, leftwing journalists, would float the idea of "a federal program of income redistribution," in the form of a guaranteed living income for all -- working and non-working people alike. Local officials would clutch at this idea like drowning men to a lifeline. They would apply pressure on Washington to implement it. With every major city erupting into chaos, Washington would have to act.
This was an example of what are commonly called Trojan Horse movements -- mass movements whose outward purpose seems to be providing material help to the downtrodden, but whose real objective is to draft poor people into service as revolutionary foot soldiers; to mobilize poor people en masse to overwhelm government agencies with a flood of demands beyond the capacity of those agencies to meet. The flood of demands was calculated to break the budget, jam the bureaucratic gears into gridlock, and bring the system crashing down. Fear, turmoil, violence and economic collapse would accompany such a breakdown -- providing perfect conditions for fostering radical change. That was the theory.

Cloward and Piven recruited a militant black organizer named George Wiley to lead their new movement. In the summer of 1967, Wiley founded the National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO). His tactics closely followed the recommendations set out in Cloward and Piven's article. His followers invaded welfare offices across the United States -- often violently -- bullying social workers and loudly demanding every penny to which the law "entitled" them. By 1969, NWRO claimed a dues-paying membership of 22,500 families, with 523 chapters across the nation.

Regarding Wiley's tactics, The New York Times commented on September 27, 1970, "There have been sit-ins in legislative chambers, including a United States Senate committee hearing, mass demonstrations of several thousand welfare recipients, school boycotts, picket lines, mounted police, tear gas, arrests - and, on occasion, rock-throwing, smashed glass doors, overturned desks, scattered papers and ripped-out phones."
These methods proved effective. "The flooding succeeded beyond Wiley's wildest dreams," writes Sol Stern in the City Journal. "From 1965 to 1974, the number of single-parent households on welfare soared from 4.3 million to 10.8 million, despite mostly flush economic times. By the early 1970s, one person was on the welfare rolls in New York City for every two working in the city's private economy." As a direct result of its massive welfare spending, New York City was forced to declare bankruptcy in 1975. The entire state of New York nearly went down with it. The Cloward-Piven strategy had proved its effectiveness. The Cloward-Piven strategy depended on surprise. Once society recovered from the initial shock, the backlash began. New York's welfare crisis horrified America, giving rise to a reform movement which culminated in "the end of welfare as we know it" -- the 1996 Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act, which imposed time limits on federal welfare, along with strict eligibility and work requirements. Both Cloward and Piven attended the White House signing of the bill as guests of President Clinton.

Most Americans to this day have never heard of Cloward and Piven. But New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani attempted to expose them in the late 1990s. As his drive for welfare reform gained momentum, Giuliani accused the militant scholars by name, citing their 1966 manifesto as evidence that they had engaged in deliberate economic sabotage. "This wasn't an accident," Giuliani charged in a 1997 speech. "It wasn't an atmospheric thing, it wasn't supernatural. This is the result of policies and programs designed to have the maximum number of people get on welfare."

Cloward and Piven never again revealed their intentions as candidly as they had in their 1966 article. Even so, their activism in subsequent years continued to rely on the tactic of overloading the system. When the public caught on to their welfare scheme, Cloward and Piven simply moved on, applying pressure to other sectors of the bureaucracy, wherever they detected weakness. In 1982, partisans of the Cloward-Piven strategy founded a new "voting rights movement," which purported to take up the unfinished work of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Like ACORN, the organization that spear-headed this campaign, the new "voting rights" movement was led by veterans of George Wiley's welfare rights crusade. Its flagship organizations were Project Voteand Human SERVE, both founded in 1982. Project Vote is an ACORN front group, launched by former NWRO organizer and ACORN co-founder Zach Polett. Human SERVE was founded by Richard A. Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, along with a former NWRO organizer named Hulbert James.

All three of these organizations -- ACORN, Project Vote and Human SERVE -- set to work lobbying energetically for the so-called Motor-Voter law, which Bill Clinton ultimately signed in 1993. The Motor-Voter bill is largely responsible for swamping the voter rolls with "dead wood" -- invalid registrations signed in the name of deceased, ineligible or non-existent people -- thus opening the door to the unprecedented levels of voter fraud and "voter disenfranchisement" claims that followed in subsequent elections.

The new "voting rights" coalition combines mass voter registration drives -- typically featuring high levels of fraud -- with systematic intimidation of election officials in the form of frivolous lawsuits, unfounded charges of "racism" and "disenfranchisement," and "direct action" (street protests, violent or otherwise). Just as they swamped America's welfare offices in the 1960s, Cloward-Piven devotees now seek to overwhelm the nation's understaffed and poorly policed electoral system. Their tactics set the stage for the Florida recount crisis of 2000, and have introduced a level of fear, tension and foreboding to U.S. elections heretofore encountered mainly in Third World countries. Both the Living Wage and Voting Rights movements depend heavily on financial support from George Soros's Open Society Institute and his Shadow Party, through whose support the Cloward-Piven strategy continues to provide a blueprint for some of the Left's most ambitious campaigns.

Default Re: The Cloward-Piven And Now Obama Strategy

Do not doubt the power of the Cloward-Piven strategy

    by John Hayward11 Jul 20143
Jonah Goldberg at National Review has a fine column today in which he dynamites the Obama talking point that our cross-border invasion is a flood of refugees from shocking new war-zone conditions in Central America, and has nothing to do with Obama’s failure to enforce immigration laws. After listing a series of dire headlines from various newspapers, describing bloody chaos in Columbia, Guatemala, and El Salvador, which would seem to buttress Obama’s contention, Goldberg drops the bomb that they’re all headlines from 1987 through 2007.

“And yet, over those two decades, we never saw anything like what we are seeing today,” he observes. “Something else is going on. To be sure, this doesn’t mean that the children at the border aren’t fleeing horrible conditions, violence, and poverty. But horrible conditions are not exactly new to Central America. In other words, the new variable isn’t what’s happening down there, it’s what’s happened up here.”
That’s an important point, well made. Obama’s excuses were already laughable, given that everyone actually streaming across the border – most of them not unaccompanied minors – cheerfully and forthrightly states that they came looking for amnesty. They’re quite open about it. They’ve been told, correctly, that if they make it across the border, they can stay. They didn’t hear that from opportunistic smugglers looking to drum up business; they heard it from American media, and from relatives already living in the United States, often illegally.
(And as Goldberg points out, the unaccompanied alien minors don’t even have to get across the border – they just run up to Border Patrol agents and turn themselves in, making the Border Patrol into what I’ve described as a concierge service. Jonah makes the same point by saying that responding to this crisis with a few more Border Patrol agents “is like adding more staff to the reception desk at a hotel.)
I’ve also heard growing rumbles in conservative media about how there has been no report of an exceptionally acute crisis in Central America that would produce an exodus of “refugees” comparable to the people streaming out of occupied Iraqi territory to escape from ISIS. Rush Limbaugh’s been asking where the telethons and media coverage of the history-altering crisis of the southern hemisphere have been. Where are the telethons and charity benefit concerts? Where are the earnest activists pressing for U.N. or U.S. intervention in a situation every bit as bad as any high-profile war-zone humanitarian disaster in the Middle East or Africa? It’s all a load of bull, and it’s another black mark of shame against the American media that they didn’t call Obama on it immediately, by simply doing their jobs and digging deep into these claims that the border crisis was caused primarily by conditions at the source, rather than the destination.
But I would respectfully disagree with Goldberg’s brief dismissal of theories that Obama caused this crisis on purpose:
Some of my friends on the right think the border crisis is some grand political scheme of Obama’s, that he in effect wants a border crisis. I think that’s wrong. Buffeted by scandals and the growing realization by large swaths of the public that he is out of his depth, the last thing he needed was this tragic spectacle on the border.
But that doesn’t mean this isn’t a crisis of his making, triggered by his tendency to think politics first and policy second. In economic terms, he thought he could lower the price of a very valuable good — legal residence in the U.S. — without seeing any rise in the demand. These immigrants aren’t fools. They’re responding rationally to new information: If you make it past the border, you can stay. If you’re a kid, all you have to do is make it to the border.
Jonah’s colleague at National Review, Jim Geraghty, put out a “Morning Jolt” newsletter on this very same day, listing all of the terrible Obama stories that have dropped completely off news radar over the past couple of weeks. Sections of his newsletter begin, “Hey, remember the VA? Hey, remember Russia and Ukraine? Hey, remember ISIS? In related news… remember Syria? Hey, remember ObamaCare? Hey, remember the economy?”
That’s an awful lot of wreckage Obama has been able to sweep off the front pages, while the border crisis consumes our attention, to the degree that the mainstream media is even willing to cover that. I see no reason to think the border catastrophe has yet turned into a net media minus for Obama. At the moment, the biggest sign that it’s really hurting him has been a few of his loyal worshipers in the press (and Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas) warning him that he’s skirting the edge of a “Katrina moment” by refusing to visit the border during his Texas fundraising swing. Obama can deal with that any time he wants by actually visiting the border, something I think he is obviously reluctant to do, but it’s media bleeding he can stop. That’s not true of the other stories fading into obscurity at the moment. Let me put it this way: does anything about Obama’s behavior over the past week suggest that he’s losing sleep over how bad the illegal immigrant tidal wave is making him look?
Also, this whole situation is not necessarily a net political minus for him. The Cloward-Piven objective of this manufactured crisis is to overwhelm the American immigration system, crushing it under a human wave so that Obama can “reform” it into something more to his liking, with an endgame of 12 million or more new Democrat voters. That objective might have been made a shade more difficult by growing public anger over the immigration wave, in the sense that a “comprehensive immigration reform” deal in Congress is deemed less likely this year… but what’s stopping Obama from writing a couple of amnesty executive orders, to the thunderous applause of immigration activists?
Everything he’s doing right now strongly suggests that will be the path he takes, and the path grows easier with every new shipment of 10,000 illegals dispersed across the country at taxpayer expense, becoming an un-deportable, un-resolvable human crisis that can only be “solved” with a “pathway to citizenship.” For that matter, talk of deportation grows more difficult the larger the “refugee” population grows. In truth, repatriation would cost a tiny fraction of the money Obama wants for long-term residency, but as far as popular media imagery grows, the bigger this migratory population becomes, the easier it is to claim that deporting them is impossible. And that’s before chain migration inevitably kicks in. You’re not going to insist that these precious innocent children can’t be reunited with the parents who handed them over to violent smuggling gangs, are you?
Of course this is all deliberate. It was carefully planned and executed. Obama is incompetent and disconnected, but he’s not that incompetent. We have quite a bit of evidence that the Administration knew the immigration wave was coming long before it caught the public eye. Simple common sense tells us they must have known it was coming, long before the first surge hit the border. There’s no way even the most inept intelligence system could fail to notice a hundred thousand people stampeding across Mexico, especially since they’re often bundled onto overcrowded trains – a train carrying thirteen hundred of them derailed in Mexico the other day.
And remember, as disconnected as Barack Obama can be from things he doesn’t give a rat’s arse about – the Department of Veterans Affairs, the fate of Israel, the situation in Benghazi on the night of September 11, 2012 – immigration is something he does care about. It’s been a front-and-center focus of his pen-and-phone dictatorial approach for a long time. Pandering to activists on this issue is a high Democrat priority. There just isn’t any reasonable probability that he naively wrote amnesty orders for the “Dreamers,” after years of rhetoric about how getting them citizenship is one of his Party’s major goals, and was then honestly surprised that 60,000 more “Dreamers” rolled across the border to get theirs, too.
This is what Obama wanted. The only thing he seemed genuinely unprepared for was the speed and size of the immigration wave, which he would rather have kept quiet until it was a done deal. He was expecting 70,000 total arrivals for the first half of the year, not 300,000. It’s inconvenient for voters to make a big deal about this before the midterm election, but I have yet to see any evidence that it’s a fatal blow to Democrats – their bad year still looks about as bad as it did two months ago.
Update: One more thought – obviously the Mexican government hasn’t been doing much to stop the stampede rolling across their country. There’s at least one story out there today about how they want to make it easier for the next migratory wave to reach the United States, not only ushering the “refugees” along, but giving them emergency medical care as needed. Now, would anyone like to try making the case that all of that is a complete surprise to the U.S. State Department? Would anyone care to take a shot at convincing me President Obama was utterly unaware that the Mexican government was aware of the migration moving between their borders?

NEW YORK – Two U.S. congressmen tell WND they believe the flooding of America’s Southwest border with thousands of illegal-alien children seeking government handouts and citizenship is the intended outcome of policies by the Obama administration derived from a strategy by radical sociologists to transform America into a socialist state. In the 1960s, professors Andrew Cloward and Francis Fox Piven of Columbia University, Obama’s alma mater, devised a plan to provoke chaos by deliberately overwhelming governmental systems and the U.S. economy to the point of collapse, paving the way for state intervention that would ultimately replace America’s free-enterprise republic with a collectivist system.

“I do feel this attempt to flood the border with illegals is a playing out of the Cloward-Piven theory,” said Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.
“If you don’t see them bring reinforcements down there to seal the border, that means that, yes, it’s a Cloward-Piven maneuver to flood the country until we get to the point where we are an open-borders country that welcomes everybody, legal and illegal,” he told WND.
Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas, agreed that Obama – who studied the chaos strategy at Columbia, according to a classmate – “is trying to do a Cloward-Piven thing with the border.”
“Obama follows all the far-left, Leninist, socialist-type stuff,” Stockman told WND.
He said it’s “an open secret Obama is trying to flood Texas with illegals to make it into a blue state,” with a Democrat majority.
“If we lose Texas, and it becomes like California, then the Republicans lose the chance of ever getting a Republican elected president,” the Texas lawmaker warned.
King agreed that one of the aims of the illegal-alien flood is to turn Texas into a Democrat state.
“You or I could shut that thing down in less than a week,” he said. “Instead of busing and flying illegals out of Texas, you fly enforcement people in.”
King said that while the U.S. is spending $7 a mile to defend the border, “we need to take people to plug the leak.”
“It’s the Battle of the Bulge down there, and you send in George Patton and the Third Army to relieve the surrounded 101st Airborne,” King said.
    Hurricane-force
A flood of illegal-alien children enticed by Obama policies favorable to minors has escalated to a “crisis of the federal government’s creation,” Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has charged.
The nearly 1,000 illegal aliens from Mexico and Central America crossing into Texas each day is being compared to Hurricane Katrina by overwhelmed officials.
“How do you prepare for that?” said Don Ray, the executive director of the Texas Border Sheriffs Coalition. “You can’t have an influx of people like that without having an impact.”
Ray told KRLD-TV in Dallas-Ft. Worth that similar to the aftermath of Katrina, relocation services are in operation.
“In the case of Katrina, most of them were United States citizens or people that were here lawfully, and now you have people that aren’t here lawfully.”
Among the policies allegedly attracting illegal aliens is Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which allows some illegals who came to the U.S. as children to defer deportation.
    History lesson
Stockman told WND his office conducted a study showing that California’s transformation into a Democrat-majority state was directly related to the 1986 amnesty bill passed by Democrats in Congress under Republican President Ronald Reagan.
    image: http://www.wnd.com/files/2013/06/130...-1-300x162.jpg
    Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas

“After Reagan did this, the illegal immigrants voted Democrat,” he noted. “Still our party thinks, ‘They’re going to love us after we do this,’ but it hasn’t been borne out by the history.”
Stockman criticized former George W. Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer, now a GOP consultant, for advising Republican candidates to back “immigration reform,” which, as currently conceived in Congress, includes some form of amnesty for illegal aliens living in the U.S.
Fleischer “never ever ran a campaign,” said Stockman, “and yet he’s an expert in campaigns.”
“It’s absurd. We’re the crew taking orders from a guy who’s never been on a boat, yet he’s the captain of the boat – and yet he’s giving directions,” he said.
Stockman sees the Cloward-Piven chaos theory at work in Obama’s foreign policy as well.
“All that blood and treasury – and Iraq is going to al-Qaida,” he said, referring to news Wednesday that a second city has fallen to al-Qaida-inspired Islamic militants.
“And don’t forget Libya. We have the black flag of al-Qaida flying over Libya now, and if Obama had his way, we’d also have the Muslim Brotherhood in charge of Egypt,” he said.
Stockman also criticized Obama’s diplomacy in Egypt, saying he “was rude to the Egyptian leader,” President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who is working with Israel to remove terrorists from the Sinai.
“The whole Middle East is going to become a radical Islamic state,” he said.
    Cantor defeat about immigration
King said the shocking primary defeat Tuesday of House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor in Virginia was about immigration.
    image: http://www.wnd.com/files/2013/08/Ste...P1-300x224.jpg
    Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa

“The voters stepped up and supported a candidate who has done an excellent job of articulating how important it is to restore the rule of law as a component of American exceptionalism,” he said, referring to tea-party candidate David Brat.
Cantor has expressed support for the principles of Obama’s proposed DREAM Act, which would grant amnesty to illegal aliens who came to the U.S. as children.
“The establishment will try to spin this, but Cantor’s loss reflects a voter rejection of amnesty, and it should put the brakes on any effort to move amnesty legislation in the House,” King said.
Stockman said the “key to Cantor losing was that the conservatives – including talk radio – united behind one candidate instead of what happened in my race where you had different people on our side supporting different GOP candidates.”
He noted the Senate Republican primary in South Carolina in which incumbent Sen. Lindsay Graham won the nomination against six opponents was similar.
“As long as we fight among ourselves, we lose,” Stockman said.
He emphasized that Cantor’s loss “killed immigration (legislation), and we need to keep getting that message out.”
Stockman said that in an interview with the Associated Press, the reporter insisted it was Democrat voters crossing over that defeated Cantor.
But Stockman said a study by his office found that Brat actually received fewer votes in Democrat areas than Mitt Romney did in the 2012 election.
“So, it’s a spin they’re trying to put out here to keep the thing alive,” the Texas congressman said.
King said regarding immigration that House Republicans may “put up a fight” for a time, “but we have telegraphed that we will cave in rather than hold our ground.”
He said it remains to be seen whether or not Republicans will coalesce around a new House majority leader willing to take a strong stand against amnesty.
“I will not support anyone for leadership who supports amnesty,” he declared.

    Cloward-Piven at the border

Back in the Sixties, Marxists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven came up with a great strategy for overloading and collapsing democratic welfare states, paving the way for socialist tyranny. Basically, the idea was to hit the system with a tidal wave of demands it couldn’t refuse, and couldn’t possibly fulfill. The Left would then insist that the moral argument for the system remained intact, so the only way to meet those impossible demands was to scrap every vestige of Constitutional restraint and republican self-government, instituting a totalitarian system that in theory would forcibly restructure society to promote “fairness” and give all those government dependents what they “deserve.” (In practice, of course, what you actually get is an iron-fisted dictatorship that cooks up reports to make itself look good, or simply tells the unhappy citizens to shut up and obey when things deteriorate to the point that no volume of phony reports can paper over the problems – say, when the glorious worker’s paradise of Venezuela runs out of tap water.)
Cloward and Piven were specifically interested in replacing welfare programs with a government-guaranteed annual income for everyone – an idea that still emerges from the more absurd quarters of the Left occasionally – but the basic idea of overloading the republican system and replacing it with centrally-planned tyranny can be applied in many different ways. Take a look at the humanitarian crisis on the southern border, which I wrote about two weeks ago. It has since burst onto the front pages with some astonishing stories, including leaked photos of illegal alien children – many of them 12 years old and younger – “warehoused” in overcrowded facilities, where there are growing concerns about sanitation and disease. CBS News in Houston writes of unaccompanied minors sleeping on plastic boards in a Nogales, Arizona warehouse after being flown in from south Texas. According to some estimates, there are nearly a thousand children in that warehouse now.
There’s nothing complicated about what is happening here. Barack Obama invited these people to send their children to the United States as refugees. He’s already made illegal use of executive orders to gut the immigration system; he’s talking about doing it again, and the people of South and Central America can hear him just fine. There have been anecdotal reports of a message being spread throughout Central American countries, by everything from word-of-mouth gossip to news media: “Go to America with your child, you won’t be turned away.” (It will come as no surprise to learn that the Mexican government is not doing much to halt the train of amnesty-seekers headed for American soil. On the contrary, corrupt Mexican officials are trying to get a cut of the profits from the refugee-smuggling trade.)
And it’s not just the President sending those signals, since there’s a vibrant bipartisan amnesty chorus in Congress. Obama will only seize power to rewrite the laws if Congress doesn’t do it fast enough for his taste, or if he sees electoral advantage in taking matters into his own hands.
Young illegals are particularly cherished by the American ruling class, which has dubbed them “Dreamers” and frankly describes them as superior in motivation and potential to native-born young people. There is every reason for families who live in South America to think their children will be given citizenship, plus special perks (such as access to discounted college tuition rates) if they can get them to the U.S. border. The Obama Administration is even talking about providing the young illegals with attorneys. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has become involved at President Obama’s direction.
This tidal wave of illegals is not an accident, and not entirely a result of conditions in Central America (which have deteriorated lately, but were already bad enough to inspire any sane person to seek a new life elsewhere.) These people were summoned. And now that they’re here, the system is collapsing beneath their weight. In addition to the refugees flown to Arizona in the CBS News story above, the El Paso Times reports two planeloads of illegals arriving for processing. “The vast majority of individuals transferred were family units from Central America and Mexico with children,” according to an El Paso official.
Contrary to popular mythology about President Obama being some sort of deportation hard-liner, the truth is that most of his “deportations” were actually catch-and-release scenarios played out at the border – people who were essentially repulsed rather than caught and deported. Such people were not counted as “deportations” in the past – remember what I said about the government cooking the books to make itself look better? Well, catch-and-release only works when the illegal aliens in question come from Mexico. There’s no practical method for sending the wave of families and unaccompanied minors surging in from Central America back to their homes. They’re most likely here to stay. And even though the Obama Administration had every reason to know they were coming, the immigration system was curiously unprepared to deal with them. Cloward-Piven tactics work even better when the system is hollowed out and made ready for speedy collapse.
Does the amnesty chorus recoil from this humanitarian crisis in shame and ask, “My God, what have we done?” Do they accept this stunning proof of a point often raised by amnesty critics: lax border security and indulgence of illegal immigration causes the flood of illegal aliens – rational people who respond to incentives – to intensify? Of course not. They’re using the horror they have created as leverage to get amnesty moving even faster. Here’s GOP Majority Leader Eric Cantor talking with the White House over the weekend about making a deal, from the Daily Caller:
“I have told the president, there are some things we can work on together,” he said in the WTVR interview.
“We can work on the border security bill together, we can work on something like the kids,” he said referring to his proposal to offer some undetermined variety of amnesty to the children and youths of millions of parents who entered the country illegally.
“So far, the president has just insisted that it’s all or nothing, [it is] my way or the highway,” Cantor complained. “That’s not going to happen,” he added.
But President Barack Obama is willing to make a deal, says one White House advisor, Rev. Richard Ryscavage.
Ryscavage is a Jesuit priest, a sociology and anthropology professor at Fairfield University, the director of the university’s Center for Faith and Public Life, and a member of a new White House panel on immigration.
A compromise is “what they’re preparing for, that’s what they think is going to happen, so they’re[publicly] asking for a lot of stuff that privately they don’t think they’re going to get” in a final deal, he told The Daily Caller June 6.
So they’re specifically portraying the very same incentives that brought the flood of minors to our border as a point of agreement from which a deal can be built. And note Rev. Ryscavage’s portrayal of many amnesty demands as part of a bidding process designed to wear down those who take citizenship and border security seriously. The White House is “asking for a lot of stuff that privately they don’t think they’re going to get,” so when they get what they really wanted all along, it’ll be portrayed as a bipartisan compromise, opposed only by extremists. They won’t be shy about pointing to the very humanitarian crisis they have deliberately created to argue that their demands must be immediately met – a tactic that will further exhaust resistance from those who are already weary of being slandered as cruel xenophobes, and holding the line against an amnesty demand the Beltway-media complex portrays as inevitable.
Soon we’ll have millions of new citizens placing heavy demands on our maternal government, with hundreds of thousands more streaming in every year, eager to claim the prizes that have been offered to them. The governments that mismanage the nations from which these poor souls are fleeing will feel even less pressure to make things better – they’re happy to use the United States as a dumping ground for excess population. The Cloward-Piven effect will spread inward from the border, and outward into every aspect of our centralized system. If you think the bleating about “income inequality” is bad now, wait until you hear what it sounds like after a few years of tidal-wave migration – especially if it’s combined with minimum-wage hikes that make it difficult to hire the new arrivals, and a regulatory morass that makes it hard to launch or expand businesses that might hire them. And you won’t have to wait long for ObamaCare’s planned collapse into ruin, paving the way for single-payer health care.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) had it exactly right, in an interview he granted to Breitbart Texas:
“We need a president who is willing to uphold the law,” Cruz said. “On issue after issue the Obama Administration has openly ignored, defied, and unilaterally tried to change the law. With respect to securing the border, the Obama Administration has handcuffed the courageous men and women who serve in Border Patrol. Morale in ICE is at an all-time low because the political operatives leading this Administration are preventing them from doing their job and upholding the law.”
He continued, “Just a few months before the last election the president illegally and unconstitutionally granted amnesty to some 800,000 people illegally. If the president wants to change federal immigration laws, the Constitution lays out a way to do so–you go and make your case to Congress and you convince Congress to change the laws…unfortunately for President Obama, following the Constitutional structure is apparently too cumbersome. One of the consequences were seeing on the border is a humanitarian crisis that is a direct consequence of Obama’s lawlessness.”
What’s happening on our southern border right now is horrifying, but it’s not unexpected. The people who caused it will never feel an instant of remorse for what they’ve done. And they’ll grow increasingly less interested in what the legal citizens of the United States have to say about immigration policy. What’s your plan for dealing with the thousands of unaccompanied minors who are being shipped to our doorstep?
Update: Another thought that occurred to me while discussing this post with Jim Vicevich on the radio this morning: if the Administration had taken steps to prepare for the wave of refugees it knew was coming – and make no mistake, it knew, because if nothing else, we have a national-security apparatus that monitors such things – they would have looked really bad at a crucial moment in last year’s immigration debate. “Hey, why are you guys building huge refugee centers in south Texas…?”
But this way, the situation is dropped in our laps as a done deal, a fait accompli. They’re here, they can’t be deported, there’s nothing we can do except give the amnesty chorus at least part of what it wants. Turning this into a deliberate humanitarian crisis was a political power play. Imagine the tenor of our “national conversation” on immigration if the Administration had forthrightly informed the American people that hundreds of thousands of unaccompanied minors were being flung at the border, obliging the government to spend millions preparing to receive them… and it was largely happening because their parents had every reason to believe they would be well-received.
Update: Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer responded angrily to these Cloward-Piven tactics, as the feds begin dumping illegal immigrants from Texas into her state without warning her first. When she complained, the feds said they have no intention of stopping.
Fox News: “Federal officials told Brewer Friday that the practice will continue for the foreseeable future, and this weekend more than 1,000 illegal immigrant children will be “dumped” in Arizona. Adults and family units will also arrive, though Brewer was not told how many, her office said.”
“This is a crisis of the federal government’s creation, and the fact that the border remains unsecure – now apparently intentionally – while this operation continues full-steam ahead is deplorable,” said Brewer. Exactly, Governor. Just wait until you’re told you must comply with various Washington directives in order to receive federal assistance for the man-made humanitarian crisis that just got dumped in Arizona’s lap.

One sign reads, “Illegal is a crime.” Another reads, “We are the future of America.” Many believe the Obama administration knows exactly what it is doing.
When the president signed an executive order two years ago enacting Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and rolled out the red carpet for illegal aliens, did they not expect any of the problems we’re seeing today? Did our government not know that Central and South America were advertising that immigrants get a free pass in America? From the time Obama implemented that policy, there has been a substantial increase in the number of people that have crossed the border, including over 52,000 children in the last fiscal year, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency.

Didn’t the White House expect an increase of crime and disease, as well as the cost to taxpayers? It was reported last month that the Senate approved a bill for $1 billion “to pay for social workers caring for the surge of children pouring across the U.S.-Mexico border, saying the humanitarian crisis is growing so quickly it’s outpacing the government’s ability to handle it.” America is a compassionate, generous country; but we have laws, a Constitution, freedom, and protections for citizens, which are primary reasons people come here.
The difference today, however, is that instead of families sneaking over the border, immigrants are now being bused in by the hundreds. There has always been violence in other countries, so to say they are suddenly fleeing that violence is insulting to our intelligence.
The Obama administration is happy to step in with their solution to another self-inflicted problem, or to an orchestrated crisis they don’t want to see go to waste. Two weeks ago, Nancy Pelosi said that “We are all Americans – north and south in this hemisphere,” urging us to see this as an opportunity, proving the end goal is amnesty and open borders. For those on the extreme Left, these are exciting times.

This didn’t happen overnight, but something must now be done – which was exactly the plan. Another problem is that many illegals do not show up for their scheduled hearings. Instead, they simply blend in to our population and receive free health care and education, find some work for cash, or get welfare.
We can explain the present crisis partly by reviewing some recent history. Frances Fox Piven and Richard Cloward were a married couple who were both professors at the Columbia University School of Social Work and, not surprisingly, members of the Democratic Socialists of America. The couple implemented an agenda to destroy capitalism (now known as the Cloward-Piven Strategy) by birthing several radical organizations one after the other, including ACORN, with the help of Wade Rathke.
In the 1960s, Fox Piven gave traction to a strategy aiming to take down America’s economy by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands. In a political strategy outlined in 1966, Fox Piven and Cloward called for overloading the U.S. public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that would lead to a replacement of the welfare system with a national system of “a guaranteed annual income.” The couple’s most significant achievement was the “Motor Voter” act, which was signed into law by Bill Clinton in 1993. Former White House staff economist James Simpson writes:
“As we now know, ACORN was one of the chief drivers of high-risk mortgage lending that eventually led to the financial crisis. But the Motor Voter law was another component of the strategy. It created vast vulnerabilities in our electoral system, which ACORN then exploited.
“ACORN’s voter registration scandals throughout the U.S. are predictable fallout. The Motor Voter law has also been used to open another vulnerability in the system: the registration of vast numbers of illegal aliens, who then reliably vote Democrat. Herein lies the real reason Democrats are so anxious for open borders….”
Jump ahead to March 2012: Frances Fox Piven gave a lecture to students at the University of Connecticut touting Occupy Wall Street. Fox Piven believed the Occupy movement was in its second phase at the time, where the mob makes trouble and “threatens to shut down institutions.” OWS had moved into city neighborhoods and schools, and she predicted “action against the banks and corporations.” She was thrilled with a poll at the time showing that about “half of the youngest age group polled, probably ages 15 to 25, saw no problems with socialism.”
Just three months later, in June 2012, President Obama announced that the United States would stop deporting hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants and give them work permits instead. The administration side-stepped the country’s legislative process, and Obama’s executive order (DACA) applied to those who came here before age sixteen and under thirty. It became a massive money-making racket for the drug cartels and the Mexican government, as they have been charging thousands of dollars a head; and it is unthinkable that the Obama administration did not see this coming.
Now, after six years of leaving the borders open, the president is requesting $3.7 billion in emergency aid to deal with the problem he created! Presidential requests for supplemental appropriations usually come on the heels of natural disasters or other catastrophic events, not man-caused crises. Breitbart’s Daniel Horowitz writes:
“The answer to a raging fire is to first stop pouring on the gasoline. We need a change in policy, not more taxpayer funding to support the government-sponsored arson.”
The border could be closed if both political parties representing us had the will to follow through. Sadly, we might be hearing more of what many citizens of Murrieta, CA said when illegal immigrants were bused to their town with no advance notice:
“The Obama administration is flooding our streets to force immigration reform.”
And that was the plan from the beginning.
