Default What I had for lunch

So I have this friend at work. I do favors for him like copy CDs, hoisting the Jolly Roger flag on occasion, etc.

So he says to me "I going to bring you someting, it is a food from my country"

He's Dominican but his sister married an Arab and it's really an Middle Eastern food.

In Spanish i'm told it is called Kyppe.

It's a wheat dough with meat inside and some spices.

    Scroll down.

I've called "Sunday Morning after too many Guinness "

    Yes,

I ate it. It wasn't too bad. LOL.

Deep fried Kebbah I think is what it is.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kibbeh

"Fried, torpedo-shaped kibbehs have become popular in Haiti, Dominican Republic[6] and South America - where they are known as quipe - after they were introduced by Lebanese and Palestinian immigrants."

Sounds like we have a winner.

LOL! I'm always up for trying new food and that actually sounds like it isn't that unhealthy for you.

Me too. Long as it looks edible.

Though I have to concede that if anyone eats smoked oysters, it is absolutely the most revolting looking thing in the world. lol

    But I eat those too.

Frog legs.... ok, I am not keen on lizards, snakes and amphibians.

But, I've had all three. In a pinch, I'd have them again.

Yep, have had frog legs. Haven't had snake or other amphibians but, wouldn't mind trying them.

I would much rather have any of the above than any sort of insect (inspired by having just watched 2 DVR'd episodes of The Colony). I will NEVER eat cockroaches, crickets, or any other damn bug no matter HOW hungry I am. I'd sooner grab a handful of grass and tree bark.

I've had "grubs" out of a tree. I don't do the Bear Grills thing though.

I cooked 'em into a cattail stew, and boiled it until it was just soup.

    I was a kid.

Have had ants. And I think grasshoppers. But they were covered in chocolate. lol

I'd rather not eat bugs. Bugs is for fish. Fish is for me.

Please don't remind me of the "allowable limits" of bugs and such the FDA has for our food.

An Ohio University fact sheet estimates that we eat from one to two pounds of insects each year, and without knowing it.

Yeah, but if it's soylent green, wouldn't that be 4lbs of insects?
