Government lists, paranoia strikes deep

Somehow I feel that I may not be the only one to post on this board who for whatever reasons did things I am not particularly proud of, or eager to admit to. That being said does anyone know of a "legal" way to find out if your name is on FBI/government "enemies" list?I guess I am dating myself with terms from the Nixion years.

At one time I ran with a crowd that "may" have implied a threat to a high government official. I may have been involved in a practical joke gone awry concerning a fake kidnapping. The list grows longer with age. To say it was a rough crowd would not be out of line.

Our local LEO's have been less than helpful. I am not sure if there is an actual FOIA form. I believe there is a charge around $200 per inquiry, but I do not know this to be true.

I hear of Homeland Security watch lists, and I am curious if private citizens have access to them. I realize it would be self defeating to publish such lists, still it seems one should be allowed to know if past indiscretions carry on today.

be aware... foia doesn't HAVE to be answered if they have a "reason" not to.

You know, I thought I remember hearing about a way to request your FBI file a long time ago. I forget exactly but, I do remember seeing you could. Sorry, not much help.

Well, you could always buy a plane ticket and see if they let you board.

Just out of curiousity, were you able to get a CHL and/or buy guns?

My CHL took almost 6 months. I called after 3 months, and was told the FBI pulled my file due to my traveling. I was in the mil for a while.

So someone, somewhere, is paying attention.

Other than that, I'm not much help here, sorry.

It has been a few years since I flew. I did however have to remove my shoes so I guess it was post TSA. As for guns, I do not own any registered firearms. May or may not have anything to do with why I am interested in finding out about lists. Sometimes the past sticks with you.
