"Still waitin on the Judgement Day"
Wow! That's awesome! Thanks for posting that Luke.
One thing I would love to do someday is fly on one of those heritage flights. The problem is they are so darn expensive for only a 30 minute flight (usually ~$400). I know it goes toward keeping the old birds airworthy but that is an expensive ticket!
I am somewhat close to one of our small municipal airports and have seen a couple fly over. One was a B-25, one was the B-17 Aluminum Overcast, and one was the B-17 Liberty Belle.
I'll tell you what, if you've never heard a plane with big radial engines flying overhead, there is nothing like it. Sitting in my living room, I can always tell when one is flying over right away.
To be completely honest, one dream of mine is to buy my own radial powered plane, a still flying C-47, as I have seen those pretty reasonably priced (for an airplane). Of course, that would mean flying lessons and getting a multi-engine pilot's license. My grandpa was a fighter pilot in WWII and the urge to fly is in my blood. Maybe someday...
I live close to Whiteman AFB. It always sends a chill up my spine when a B2 goes over. Sometimes I get lucky enough to see lowflying A10's.
