Good point about the fence, Ryan.
Of course they can build a damn fence, but they have to want to first!

All we hear is how Obama's goose is cooked. You think? Or do you think he wants us to think that?

I got an email earlier that said Christie backs Romney. I didn't believe it. Now I know it was real. If you search Christie Romney as keywords, many news links come up.

Here is one and tells me Christie is an official douche, at least in my eyes:

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_1...67-503544.html

One week after announcing he would not seek the Republican presidential nomination despite pressure from Republicans disappointed with the current crop of candidates, New Jersey governor Chris Christie on Tuesday endorsed former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

"America cannot survive another four years of Barack Obama, and Mitt Romney is the man we need to lead America, and we need him now," Christie said at a Romney campaign event in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Romney "brings that great private sector experience and he brings that experience as governor of Massachusetts knowing how government works," Christie added, telling reporters that his decision to back the Massachusetts governor was "easy."

Mitt and Ann Romney went to Christie's house in New Jersey on Saturday, a senior Romney campaign adviser told CBS News. It was there that Christie said he would endorse Romney.

Suggesting that Romney was the most electable candidate in the field, Christie said that "as Republicans, our number one goal this year has to be to preserve our American way of life."

Romney "has laid out the most detailed economic plan of anybody in the race," Christie said, adding that Romney "is not someone who is deciding to run for president off the back of an envelope."

    (goes on from there)

On of my friends posted this last night on FaceBook:

Well, actually it was a slightly different version saying "I've got your back".

I responded with a remark like:

"That's good you've got his back. He being kicked out of office and I will do everything I can to help him along his way out...."

Which started a firestorm on Facebook.

One of my old friends from High School called me "rude". I said "I'm not being rude, I'm not going to tolerate a Socialist in the office of President" (or words to that effect, I don't have access to face book at work so I can't copy and paste at the moment). Anyway, she responded back with "I don't know enough about politics to debate, but you should 'define' socialism. "

My basic answer was simple. "If you don't know enough to debate then perhaps you should call people rude. You should become educated and not by a leftist society that seems to think socialism is ok. I don't have to, by the way define socialism, it's already defined. I go by the book definition."

Several people apparently jumped into the fray as I left it... lol

I love it when fucking idiots who are uneducated start calling me names, attempting to make me "define" something when the word is already defined.

It is a very simple matter to hear a man say "redistribute the wealth" to be able to point a finger and say "That's what socialism is...." and if the left can't GET it then they aren't trying to get it.

In a word, Americans describe Romney, Cain, Perry

Quick — what's the first word that comes to your mind when you hear the names of one of the presidential candidates?
That's the question the Washington Post and the Pew Research Center posed to a random national sample of more than 1,000 adults last week.
    The results?
For Herman Cain, the first word that comes to mind is "9-9-9." OK, that's three words. But that's what people said.
For Rick Perry, the first word was "Texas," which is where he currently serves as governor.
    Elaine Thompson, Associated Press
Republican presidential candidate former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney buttons up his jacket after finishing a talk at Microsoft headquarters Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, in Redmond, Wash.

    For Mitt Romney? "Mormon."
Keep in mind, the survey was conducted last week, when newspapers and television news programs all around the country were talking about the controversial statements made by Perry's pastor, in which Mitt Romney's membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was called into question because it is, according to Pastor Robert Jeffress, a non-Christian cult. So it seems natural that the word "Mormon" would be top of mind for survey respondents last week.
The third-most often-used word for Perry: "idiot."
For Romney, the five words most often cited by respondents, after Mormon, were Healthcare/Romneycare, flip-flop/flip-flopper, good/good man and no/no way.
For Cain, the next four most often-used words after 9-9-9 were business/businessman, interesting, good and pizza. And for Perry, the next four words were no, idiot/idiotic, conservative and governor.
The Post story noted that "more than four in 10 adults do not offer any single-word descriptions of Cain or Perry. And despite Romney being well into his second run for president, more than a third do not have a word for him."
Two other stories in nationally significant newspapers use Romney's bid for the U.S. presidency as a jumping off point for thoughtful and insightful looks at the LDS religion in the public square. In the Christian Science Monitor, columnist Jonathan Zimmerman asks "Why is it OK to be prejudiced against Mormons?"
Anti-Mormonism, Zimmerman writes, is "a prejudice you can get away with. You can't be openly racist, sexist or anti-Semitic. But anti-Mormon? Go for it."
Zimmerman, a history professor at New York University, traced the history of anti-Mormonism among both conservatives and liberals from the time of Joseph Smith to the present.
"No matter what our political affiliation," he writes, "we're still mocking Mormons. Perhaps a run for the White House by Romney — or by fellow Mormon, Jon Huntsman — will shine enough light on actual Mormons to make us put aside the fears and fantasies about them."

Oct 21, 2011 House Democrats raise more cash than GOP

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised more money than its Republican counterparts in the last quarter, bringing in nearly double the amount for September than the majority party group. The House Democratic campaign arm said today it raised $14.22 million from July through September, outpacing the $10.68 million haul by the National Republican Congressional Committee for the third quarter.
    STORY: Super PAC money
Democrats need a net gain of 25 House seats to gain majority power.
"While we are in the minority in Congress, we're with the majority of the American people and grassroots support from across the country is fueling our campaign to put control of the House of Representatives back in the people's hands," said Rep. Steve Israel of New York, chairman of the DCCC.
Last month, Democrats posted $6.64 million compared with $3.8 million for the GOP group. The DCCC says a record day of online fundraising for Sept. 30 -- in terms of donors and dollars -- boosted its bottom line.
The NRCC has more cash on hand, $12.17 million vs. $9.47 million for the DCCC.

    That's quite an interesting article.

Nearly every word used for Cain is good while the other 2 candidates are mixed.

This perhaps explains Cain's strong positive intensity scores I posted in his thread and why he only continues to go up in the polls.

Republicans Bash Biden Over Claims of Increased Crime Without Jobs Bill

    Published October 21, 2011
    | FoxNews.com

    • AP
Oct. 20, 2011: Vice President Biden speaks to students at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, N.H.

Republicans are stepping up their criticism of Vice President Biden for his claim that rapes and murders will climb if Congress does not approve proposed aid for police and first responders.
Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., said the vice president is using "fear tactics." Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said Biden's remarks were "over the top."
And as the Senate Thursday night turned down a pared-back jobs bill to send $35 billion to the states for teachers and first responders, the Republican National Committee threw up a web video accusing Biden of using "scare tactics" to try to push it through. The video excerpted several remarks, including Biden's claim to a reporter this week that "murder will continue to rise, rape will continue to rise" without more aid.

The RNC on Friday morning also forwarded around a study from FactCheck.org claiming Biden was telling a "whopper."
Biden's narrative started last week when he claimed in Flint, Mich., one of the most violent cities in America, that the number of murders and rapes had soared as the number of police officers had dropped. He said that between 2008 and 2010, the number of murders went from 35 to 65, and the number of rapes went from 91 to 229. FoxNews.com reported last week that, according to FBI figures, the city did see a significant rise in murders but the number of reported forcible rapes actually declined -- from 103 in 2008 to 92 in 2010.
Biden's office told FoxNews.com last week that it got the 229 number from the Flint Police Department.
However, FactCheck.org claimed it figured out the significant discrepancy. A city spokeswoman told the site that the 2010 number counted "all cases of criminal sexual conduct," and not just rapes.
    "That's an apples-to-oranges comparison," FactCheck.org wrote.
In a statement to Fox News Radio, the city spokeswoman on Friday continued to defend Flint's stats, calling them an "actual portrayal of the level of violent crime in our city."
"The discrepancies with the FBI and other sources reveal the differences in how crimes can be counted and categorized, based on different criteria," spokeswoman Dawn Jones said.
FactCheck.org said Biden is "right on his larger point," that murders increased in Flint as police staffing dropped. But the site said Biden is "clearly wrong" on his stats about rape.
But White House Press Secretary Jay Carney stood by the premise on which Biden was basing his claims.
"I think it would be hard to find anyone who doesn't agree with the simple equation that fewer police officers on the street has a direct effect on the crime rate," Carney said. "Having more law enforcement officers on the job, police officers on the job, would have a positive impact on crime. ... That's the point he was making. And that's a point that the president absolutely does share."
The number of officers in Flint has declined from 201 in 2008 to 132 in 2010, according to FBI stats, while the number of murders has just about doubled in that time.
Carney questioned why Republicans were picking apart Biden's words.
"Are Republicans arguing that there is no correlation between the number of cops on the beat and the crime rate?" he said. "That would be an interesting argument to hear. It's a new one, a novel one."
The response comes after Biden on Tuesday said in an address to Philadelphia police officers that the jobs bill is not a "temporary "salve.
"Let me tell you, it's not temporary when that 9-1-1 call comes in and a woman's being raped. If a cop shows up in time to prevent the rape, it's not temporary to that woman," Biden said with his voice rising. "It's not temporary to the guy whose store is being held up and has a gun being pointed to his head if a cop shows up and he's not killed. That's not temporary to that store owner. Give me a break -- temporary," he said.

The Case for Hillary as VP

Posted by ROBERT STEIN in Media, Politics, Society.
    Oct 21st, 2011 | 4 responses
A year ago, Washington rumors had Joe Bidenz and Hillary Clintonz switching jobs for 2012, and that was before the Tea Party wrecking crew came in, brought government to a standstill and created an anti-Obama climate that threatens a hostile takeover of the White House next year. (President Perry? Cain? A compliant Romney?)
The idea was dismissed out of hand back then, even though Bob Woodwardz, after months researching an Obama book, said, “It’s on the table. And some of Hillary Clinton’s advisers see it as a real possibility in 2012. President Obamaz needs some of the women, Latinos, retirees that she did so well with during the 2008 primaries…The other interesting question is, Hillary Clinton could run in her own right in 2016 and be younger than Ronald Reagan when he was elected president.”
For an election that will define America for decades ahead, it’s no comfort that the President is still ahead of Congress in the approval race to the bottom and raising tons of money from Wall Street (even Romney’s old firm). Disillusioned Democrats and Independents will need every bit of reassurance they can get that the crazies won’t take over the country.
Such a switch in running mates would be seen by cynics as a “Dump Biden” movement, but the potential positives far outweigh such carping. For a start, Hillary Clinton’s presence on the ticket would point up Obama’s foreign policy successes—-taking out bin Laden and drawing down troops, however slowly, from Iraq and Afghanistan—-and point up GOP empty rhetoric on the subject. And Biden’s long Senate experience would serve him well at the State Department.

23 hours ago Biden reacts to Gadhafi news

    Posted by
CNN Political Producer Rachel Streitfeld Plymouth, New Hampshire (CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden lauded NATO for its role in tracking down ousted Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, but said he could not confirm whether the dictator had been killed or captured.
"NATO got it right and guess what? Libya, Gadhafi, one way or another is gone," Biden said Thursday during a question and answer period after a jobs speech in Plymouth, New Hampshire. "Whether he is alive or dead he is gone."

Biden defended the United States' role in the Libyan conflict, a move which came under intense fire from conservatives in the House of Representatives earlier this year. Some members faulted the president for not seeking Congress' approval before joining with NATO in the conflict.
"In this case America spent two billion dollars total and didn't lose a single life. This is more the prescription for how to deal with the world as we go forward than it has been in the past," Biden said. "So this is an example of how the world is beginning to work together a little bit better."
